Film production diary on what I did throughout the filming

2. Diary Entry 1
■ Firstly we had a group discussion on the ideas for our film. We then
elaborated on them ideas and discussed the pros and cons of these.
When we decided which ones were good we looked at films which had
similar ideas and how they performed these in their film and how we can
make them in similar ways. We then made a small storyboard to get and
idea of what we wanted to do. We then made our synopsis and watched
some films with the same plot as ours. After this I made the story
mountain and with this we new what the bases of the film was from start
to end. Then we looked for unlicensed music and tried to see which ones
would be good for our film, when we decided we downloaded some to try
out.

3. Diary Entry 2
■ We had a change of plan on where the film was going to be filmed so we had to
change the storyboard a little. I then looked at the codes and conventions of
horror films and I got the information from this and could apply it to our film to
look like an actual horror film. Then we discussed about what props to use for our
film. We said that we would use a axe but we could not use this in the
environment we was in and we decided to use a wooden baseball bat because it
is an old fashion weapon and it is easier to get hold of. We then discussed the
clothes for the actors to wear because for the two young students they were in a
school they have to wear suits to look like they are in 6th form. We decided to put
a long coat on him to cover him up and bring out the mask on his face.

4. Diary Entry 3
■ Recently I have been looking up information for my research and
planning and today I am going to film with my group on what we
have talked about. I looked up about target audience and ours is
targeted at young teenagers and above. This means we can make
our film and target our audience to the best of our ability. Next I will
look at more research and planning and edit our film.

5. Diary Entry 4
■ Today we started to make changes to our film and by doing this it
would make the film better and more complete. Also as an actor I
filmed some scenes that I wasn’t in to get a film of being behind
the camera. Once we had finished filming we started to edit and by
doing so the film started to make sense and start to take shape.
Now I can carry on with my research and planning.

6. Diary Entry 5
■ We filmed some more and it was nearly finished. We looked at the film
and started to look at some scenes that can be improved by more
complex shots. We also started to use the SLRs and this was an
improvement from the previous camera because it was much
better quality which made our film much better. Also my research
and planning was nearly complete.
