Marvel Cinematic Universe Essay
1.What factors contributed to Marvel Studios' success at global branding? Why?
Currently the Marvel Cinematic Universe, often referred to as the MCU, represents one of the more calculated risks taken in the history of
Hollywood. Composed of nine released films, with more on the way, two network television shows airing on ABC, and five Netflix series the MCU
represents the largest interconnected film brand in cinema. Not only this, but since the start of phase one of the MCU, currently the MCU is preparing
to enter the third and final phase, each and every project has represented tremendous commercial success. This has left many individuals in the industry,
especially Marvel 's rival D.C. Comics, scratching their heads at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comics, Hasbro, and Games Workshop. This position was to put their intellectual property up for offer to established movie studios that would
make a movie based on an established character in exchange for a lions share of the profits. While this was the typical approach it didn 't take
Marvel Comics long to realize the flaw within this approach. Different studios would show different levels of authenticity to their character and
different levels of quality in the final cinematic product. This led to three unique problems. First, Marvel 's comic book based fanbase would often be
displeased by the varying degrees of authenticity shown to beloved characters. Second, while Marvel hoped that movies based on their intellectual
property would boost comic book sales this was wholly dependent on the care that the studio in charge of the film put into the final product. For
example, films such as the X–Men (2000) created a renewed interest in X–Men comics due to its high quality; while films such as Ghost Rider and
Ghost Rider 2, both of which were critically panned, led to a disconnect with the comic book fan base. The third and final problem was also the largest.
Since Marvel was in effect auctioning off a connected universe to various distribution studios this meant that the movie rights to different parts of their
intellectual property were all owned separately. This meant that Spider–man who was controlled by Sony couldn 't make an appearance

Marvel Enterprises Inc Essay
ENTERNTAINMENT MARKETING CASE MARVEL ENTERPRISES INC ABISHEK BHASIN 2091775562 Marvel Enterprises, Inc. is an
industry–leading firm whose core business is character–based entertainment. Marvel's foundation and success is built on their proprietary library of
over 4,700 characters featured in a variety of media for nearly seventy years (1939–2004). Marvel utilizes its character franchises in licensing
agreements, and publishing of comic books through the division of Marvel Comics. Marvel's strategy is to leverage its characters in a growing array of

However, Marvel's shares of those large revenues have been very minimal. By creating their own movie productions, Marvel will be able to receiver
larger amount of revenues and mitigate any issues around growth. Although it is a high capital–intensive venture, and one that comes with many risks,
Marvel's main success factor is the fact that they already have the 'recipe' for success when it comes to reaching their fan base. They have been
successful in acquiring and retaining the best artists and writers for their publishing division and the same strategy must continue when they begin to
produce their own movies by acquiring the best directors, writers, actors, etc. Marvel, and Arad, have the best knowledge in regards to their characters
and the ability to control the production of movies will help ensure that cohesive messages are being illustrated through all mediums including comic
books. WHY DIGITAL MEDIA– SHIFT IN CONSUMER TRENDS The majority of today's consumers are actively personalizing their digital
experiences and sampling niche content and video with increasing frequency. The desire to personalize and sample niche content greatly impacts
consumers' digital behavior across all industries and verticals. This new consumer mindset is all part of d–entertainment[iii]. Music, movies, television,
video games, and the WWW are morphing into a single entity; hence consumers are no longer content to in watching shows or

Heroic Heros
Most of the heroes in the superhero universe can be broken down into three groups. Marvel and DC Comics are the main contributors to this
superhero fandom. These two companies even contributed the term superhero. Neither company owns it, they just share it. Many of the interesting
heroes/ heroines have brain powers, body powers, and some are even powerless. This class is the mind boggling brainiac's. Not because they are
smart, but because they have brain powers. Brain powers include telekinesis, aqua kinesis, telepathy, and many more. The most classic and
recognizable candidate for Brainiac's would–be Jean Grey. "Jean Grey was 10 years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after
experiencing the emotions of a dying friend." ("Jean Grey", 2006, para.1). Her telekinetic abilities allow her to levitate or pick up cars with her mind.
She also has telepathic abilities, this allows her to read minds and put thoughts in people's brains. Jean and her amazing powers landed her a spot as
one of the founding X–Men. Aquaman is another suitable hero for this class. Aquaman, like his name suggests, has the power to control the water.
This is called aqua kinesis. Another cool power of his is telepathy, like Jean, but with a twist. He uses his telepathy to communicate with the sea
creatures, like the dolphins and the menacing sharks. There are moments where I'm in the shower, or even just playing in water that I feel like aqua
man. I feel as if I have his aqua kinetic

The Marvel Of Marvel 's Universe Of Film, Television,...
This paper will explore in detail how Marvel's superhero films work as a part of Marvel's transmedia universe of film, television, comic books and
other sources of media. Briefly touching on what transmedia storytelling is and a brief history of to how Marvel has become what it is today.
Firstly, transmedia storytelling "refers to a new aesthetic that has emerged in response to media convergence – one that places new demands on
consumers and depends on the active participation of knowledge communities" (Jenkins, p.20–21, 2006). For transmedia storytelling to work, the
content that is produced must be presented in at least three different mediums and that each medium must have differing content. Each media piece,
whether it be a film, comic book, video, etc; acts as a standalone story in a wider universe. This form of storytelling adds a lot of richness and detail to
the story's universe as we get character backstories and secondary plot lines. With this, the audience becomes actively involved as they become
stakeholders in their transmedia experience in which they can be motivated to engage with other fans, seek out other parts of the story, and contribute
to the narrative by adding their own content (Fan–Fiction).
In 1941, comic artist Stan Lee made is debut with "Captain America Foils the Traitor's Revenge'. He worked on a number of different genres of
comics until Marvel's rival DC Comics brought back the superhero archetype. The first group of superheroes Lee created,

Verlyn Klinkenborg's Fondness
The article 'On the Recentness of What We Know,' written by Verlyn Klinkenborg, is a pleasant read about the author's fondness of astronomy and his
insight regarding the science of it and knowledge gleaned from it. Klinkenborg recounts a few of his star–gazing memories and then proceeds to
analyze the effects cosmological discoveries have on him personally and humanity in general. The author shares bits of theoretical history of the
universe and information on the early astronomers whose hypotheses have developed that history. He goes on to reference various well known
discoveries throughout the years and marvels at how drastically information in recent years has changed the stories of our universe.

Big Impacts On My Childhood
When I think of big impacts on my childhood, heroes are definitely near the top. Whether it was Legolas from Lord of the Rings or Lara Croft in
Tomb Raider, I wanted to save the world. Maybe that 's why I fell in love with comics early on. I wanted the admiration from my peers that these
heroes got from me, and yet, the world doesn 't work that way. I realized pretty quickly that it wasn 't like in the movies and comics. The world
didn 't exist to give you a pat on the back whenever you did a good deed. Maybe that 's why from the moment I picked up my first XMEN comic, I
fell in love. FINALLY there were heroes who lived in a more realistic society. The world they protected, shunned them. They were spat on by those
they saved. Here I was, a geeky, straight A, small, spindly little fourth grader with glasses and flood pants who had always tried to be the hero.
Finally I had found a group of people who were as unappreciated as I felt. It seems as though many others felt that way too, and quickly Xmen became
Marvels' crowning glory, yet as the newest generation rolls in, Marvel has had a stroke of luck with a film deal of the Avengers series, and of course the
population eats it up. It seems as though Marvel has been putting a lot of effort into anything Avengers since Fox owns the rights to Xmen. This
unfortunate fact makes me bitter because Xmen contains much more positive messaging for audiences than the currently more successful Avengers.
Xmen hasn't been getting much love

Archetypes In Star Wars
Star Wars. Harry Potter. The Marvel Cinematic Universe. These seemingly unrelated movie franchises seem to not have a lot in common other than the
fact that they were all uber–successful. In actuality, however, they have a lot more in common than that. These movie franchises at one point or
another have served as the modern media mythological framework for a period of time. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has used a slightly altered
Hero's Cycle, archetypes and the teaching of life lessons to create a modern mythology that fulfills Joseph Campbell's fourth function of myth and has
also become a modern media mythological framework that has already begun to be copied.
Joseph Campbell first introduced the idea of a Hero's Cycle in his book "The Hero with a Thousand Faces." The Hero's Cycle is a series of several
steps that a typical hero story, whether an ancient Greek story such as Hercules or a modern story told through film like Star Wars, follows. The main

Archetypes along with the hero's cycle have really been the foundation that all modern mythological media have been built on. If you applied the
hero's cycle and the main archetypes typically used in myth to Star Wars, Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, you would see similar results as
shown by comparing these to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These movies all have a very similar structure but it is often the lessons that the story
focuses in on that set the movies apart. The Harry Potter books and movies, for example, placed a much larger emphasis on the problems facing a
typical school child, than really any movie series had before. This is what made it unique. The Marvel Cinematic Universe, in a similar fashion, has
focused on teaching several lessons to the audiences that watch these

Kinkajou Essay
The Marvel characters are well known. People know them for being superhero's and saving the world. While most of them have some self control, but
there is one that has a bit of a temper. This character's name is the Hulk. the Hulk is a giant green monster that is actually just a human. When the
human gets made that's when he turns into the hulk and becomes the giant green monster people love. The kinkajou has multiple similarities to the
hero, the kinkajou gets agitated easily and can become very hostile and start destroying everything. The Kinkajou does not grow and become green but
this little monkey does go crazy and is not easy to calm down. The Kinkajou is a tiny monkey, that can turn into mini hulk, and needs to live
somewhere else.
The kinkajou is a tiny monkey that is about 16–30 inches long. They weigh 7–10 pounds. They live in the Tropical Rain Forest in southern Mexico
through Brazil. It's lifespan is up to 20 years on an average. The Kinkajou are nocturnal animals which means they are awake during the night and sleep

would be a tropical rain forest just like where the kinkajous are from. The people that would want a pet kinkajou would have to live on this island

Essay On Disney Infinity
Disney has been using transmedia for many decades now, and after releasing their latest video game platform Disney Infinity, they have proven once
again that they are innovative players in the transmedia field. Through Disney Infinity, Disney show how far the limits of transmedia reach. In this
essay I will be explaining what Disney Infinity is and what the Disney Infinity universe is and how it works to complement the separate franchise
canonically. After this i will be introducing the reasons how and why Disney Infinity was a success and helped Disney to be a strong influencer in the
transmedia platform.

This also points to the fact that with transmedia, there is the idea that fans of franchise do not want stories they love to be separated from each other
but instead all of the stories should take place in the exact same universe and should not contradict each other within the narrative. So how did Disney
make Disney Infinity have similar narrative relationships between the film's story and the game's story? Well, Disney designed Disney infinity to not
contradict the two storylines but instead complement each other. This defines Disney Infinity's storytelling as part of the franchise's hard transmedia
storytelling, because of their successful efforts to make the universe fully canonical. This "rule" so to speak, Is shown through the fact that the
consumer cannot play one Play Set franchise while using a character from a different Play Set. The amazing thing about Disney infinity is that it allows
several individual franchises to extend their transmedia storytelling product in one game. Disney Infinity was

The Marvel Of Marvel Studios
Marvel Studios' movies is like a path to travel on as an audience member (Menard, 2014, p. 28). Across a decade worth of films and tv shows, there
has been a there has been more than 60 characters that the Marvel Studios universe contains (Menard, 2014, p. 54). There has been a lot of conflict and
character development, because of the multiple events that happens in the other movies (ComicBookCast2,2016). There a lot of example of this
happening, such as the new york event in The Avengers (ComicBookCast2,2016). The event in the Avengers spread into the Avengers,Iron man 3

Transmedia makes all of the little references to the other Marvel Studios worth it.
Transmedia can only profound and deepen the narrative that the universe wants to show the audience (Menard,2014). Marvel Studios have used
Transmedia to further intensify the stakes of the universe, because through the examples that are provided can show that events can span throughout
any movies that the narrative requires to.
The relatability from what the subject material is to how it can influence the audience is crucial in understanding of how Marvel Studios applies to
their main audience. Marvel Studios have a wealth size of different movies that appeal to different types of audiences (ComicBookCast2,2016). It
is good to have a variety of themes and emotion to display to your audience (Weekend Warrior, 2016). The subject material that Marvel Studios
bases their universe on is too over the top for the average everyday people going to see movies, but Marvel Studios have made the effort of
condensing and making it more simplified (Weekend Warrior, 2016). Marvel Studios have also known not to scale down on their projects and make it
more ridiculous as possible, such as Ant–Man, Doctor Strange, and Guardians Of The Galaxy or to lighten how unrealistic it is to make it more
realistic including but not limited to Captain America, Thor and Iron Man (Weekend Warrior, 2016),(ComicBookCast2,2014). The themes in Marvel

Essay On Marvel Vs Dc
Marvel versus DC is a debate that has been reignited with the launch of multiple movies featuring heroes from each universe. Each universe has its
own heroes and villains. The subject of this paper is to determine which would be the safer universe. While DC and Marvel both have many characters,
only some of the characters in each universe have god–like abilities. Certain characters from the Marvel and DC universe have the ability to end all life
in the solar system, galaxy and possibly the universe.
Both Marvel and DC have their collection of heroes and villains. The only heroes and villains that will be compared are ones with near god–like
abilities. Superman is one of these god–like heroes from the DC universe. He has the ability to fly, super strength, near invincibility, super speed, and
laser vision. Although he was killed in the events of Batman V Superman, he was revived in the events of Justice League. Superman could destroy

Captain American Speech: Captain America
Captain America Speech
He goes by the name Steve Rogers or the greatest soldier in history and if you still don't know who he is then maybe you'll know him by his original
name "Super America". Okay never mind, probably not because the creators realised that it didn't sound good as too many Marvel Superheroes had
the word "Super" in them and so they finally agreed on "Captain America" which clearly sounds much better than Super America.
Captain America is a fictional Marvel Superhero which was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby in 1941. He was known as Steve Rogers at first, but
because of his bravery and compassion, a scientist created the Super Solider Serum which enhanced Steve Rogers' human potentials and thus gave birth
to Captain America. The characterisation of Captain America was influenced by political social injustice during the 20th century. Captain America,
obviously being American who is part of the Allied Powers, fought against the Axis Powers which consisted of Germany, Italy and Japan. Captain

be aired in front of the world. This panel would include the likes of Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and many more "Big Name" heroes.
Panther brought along two colleagues from Wakanda to sit with him on the panel– Okoye and Nareema. When the panel intensified, it was the Black
Panther turn to offer up some resolutions. During this moment, Okoye and Nareema suggested some of their thoughts to T'Challa and the rest of the
panel. Even though Stark and company tried to downplay their suggestions, their King stepped up for them, allowing their points to be heard
worldwide. "No you may not Mr. Stark, my companions will be heard!" Because of T'Challa's respect, he enabled Okoye and Nareema to cultivate a
sensible solution, which was eventually used to help prevent an oncoming conflict. The Black Panther is such a great hero because he utilizes these
three traits effectively. When he sees a problem he has the courage to confront it. And no matter how much the tides seem to be turning against him,
he's always determine to find a way to save his kingdom! But what really makes heroes like Beowulf and the Black Panther remembered, is the respect

Book Review : ' An American Media Franchise And Shared...
MCU
What is the MCU?
A brief over guide
MCU is an American media franchise and shared fictional universe that is centered on a series of superhero films, independently produced by Marvel
Studios and based on characters that appear in Marvel Comics. The franchise has expanded to include comic books, short films, and television series.
The shared universe, much like the original Marvel Universe in comic books, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast,
and characters. Clark Gregg has appeared the most in the franchise, portraying Phil Coulson, a character original to the MCU.
Phase 1
Phase 1 started with 2008's Iron Man since Disney's $4 Billion acquisition of Marvel in 2009 let them adapt even more of their comics into billion
dollar movies. Phase 1 sets up the Avengers initiative and has solos for Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Captain America.
The Captain America Film shows a young Steve Rogers before he is experimented on and his battles against Hydra and the Red Skull. I have yet to
see the other movies
Phase 2
Phase 2 is going even further into the Avengers and makes a Thor sequel as well as introducing Captain America into the modern world in his 2nd
solo as well as closing off the Iron Man series. Phase 2 also introduces Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant–Man to the MCU. Ant Man is about a thief
who is chosen to wear a suit that makes him shrink. And the Avengers is about when Tony Stark accidentally creates a robot named Ultron.

Marvel Cinematic Universe
Ever since I was able to open my eyes, I've watched countless movies from countless of different movie franchises. I've watched some of the best
movies ever made, and some of the worst movies ever made too. That includes watching the movies made from small and unknown movie franchises

quickly tossed her into the arms of a Russian soldier. His name was Ivan Petrovitch and he soon became the caretaker of Natasha. After that her
mother was consumed by the flames. Ivan brought Natasha under his care and soon had to protect her from her various enemies. In 1941, Natasha

received the Red Rooms variant of the Super Solider Serum. Due to the Serum all her physical and mental abilities have been greatly increased. Ivan
with the help of Captain America and Wolverine saved Natasha from the Hand and the Strucker. (2) Soon Natasha falls in love with and marries a
man named Alexi Shostakov . He tested pilots for the Soviet. It was later decided at the K. G. B., that they were going to make a plan. The plan
consisted of getting Natasha to become their skill fighter. On a mission Alexi was told that he could not have any contact with anyone .(1) A Soviet

With The Movie Industry On The Rise In The 21Th Century,
With the movie industry on the rise in the 21th century, there are a lot of studios that have been known for making great movies like Lucasfilm, Pixar,

Transmedia has been described as a new aesthetic that has emerged in response to media convergence(Menard, 2014, p. 35). Transmedia contexts a

Transmedia allows the world to be more expressive for the audience to see(Ruppel, 2012, p. 4). Transmedia allows the audience to see more into the

Disney Infinity Essay
Disney has been using transmedia for many decades now, and after releasing their latest video game platform Disney Infinity, they have proven once
again that they are innovative players in the transmedia field. Through Disney Infinity, Disney show how far the limits of transmedia reach. In this
essay I will be explaining what Disney Infinity is, what the Disney Infinity universe is and how it works to complement the separate franchise
canonically. After this I will be introducing the reasons how and why Disney Infinity was a success and helped Disney to be a strong influencer in the
transmedia platform. My final point will be how Disney kept the interest of buyers for the Disney Infinity 2.0 and 3.0 franchise of Disney Infinity.

Dc Vs Marvel Research Paper
MarvelВ® versus DCВ®
There are many superhero universes. The main two being DC comics and Marvel universe. Once both universes came out fans all around the world
have wondered which universe , DC or Marvel, would win in a war against each other. Statistics show that in this case DC would win but this will
prove how and why Marvel would win against DC.
History of both universes
Marvel started in 1939 as Timely Publications and was made by famous creator Martin Goodman. By 1961 it was changed to Atlas Comics and Heros
like The Hulk, Spider–man, and Iron Man and also super teams like Fantastic Four and X Men were
made. In 1968 Martin Goodman sold Cadence Industries and by 1986 the company sells marvel to a t.v. producer/company called New World

DC Comics started in 1934 and was created by Malcolm Wheeler. DC Comics were able to survive and continue to thrive even when there were
times when they had gone through declining periods when comics books were losing interest. However, today they proved to be one of the most

Analysis Of Joss Whedon: The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Joss Whedon may have been an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since he directed the post–credits scene in Thor and worked on The
Avengers. However, the Firefly director has just admitted that he will no longer be doing any Marvel films after Age of Ultron! During a recent
interview with the Oxford Union, Whedon was asked whether he will be working on MCU's Phase 3 films. His response surprised Marvel fans.
"No. You know I was their sort of Consigliere for a while ... We do not discuss our thing," Whedon said as the audience laughed. He also revealed the
exact time when he decided to stop working with Marvel. "I sort of had my finger in all of the films in the second phase, but then I just had to

Thor : Ragnarok : Movie Review
The Thor: Ragnarok story involves the mighty Thor finding himself imprisoned in a different part of the universe. Hence, in a race to safe is home
Asgard from the powerful Hela, he leads a quest for survival that involves him fighting the Hulk. Taika Waititi directed the movie, and his trademark is
seen all over the movie with the movie's sense of humor and vibrant nature. The movie time frame is after the Avengers: Age of Ultron, which explains
why both the Hulk and Thor are not present in Captain America: Civil War. The movie is a quirky cosmic adventure comedy that features some of the
most colorful supporting characters in the Marvel universe such as Loki, the Incredible Hulk, and Valkyrie. The movie through the assembled cast
translates very well on the screen throughout their performances.
What makes a good movie?
What make a good movie are a good storyline and its ability to make people laugh, to entertain, as well as its ability to utilize its characters fully
throughout the movie. Hence, from Thor: Ragnarok experience, in the Marvel universe the best movie is on that the director is left to do his work in
the movie. Apparently, this has been evident in other movies such as the Guardian of the Galaxy, Iron man three as well as the first Avenger.
Thor: Ragnarok is surprisingly a good movie based on its ability to utilize humor. The film is first a comedy movie than an action movie later.
Seemingly, the in the marvel universe the movie can be credited as the funniest movie of all times. The movie utilizes all opportunities to make the
audience laugh. Waititi utilizes all the possible scenarios in the movie to build humor. For example, he utilizes the moments when characters are in
great danger, bits when tension is at the peak as well as the awkward pauses in the movie to build comedic appeal. Hence, with the right display of
humor, Thor: Ragnok earns a place among top–notch movies or maybe a level above them. Of importance, is that the Hulk character in the movie is
capable of speech, which makes Thor and the Hulk the perfect comedy double. The movie utilizes it superficial characters to the maximum to develop
the story. For example, most of the characters in the movie serve the purpose of

Coca Col A Soft Drink Invented By John Pemberton
TV ads back in the day would try to sell you a product and say why you should buy it. As time goes on, companies got created with their
advertisements, Some added edgy humor in order to sell to a younger audience. Some even hired celebrities to be in the ad for the appeal. Also, if
something becomes mainstream, companies will take advantage of it by incorporating it in their products. For example, Marvel became mainstream
thanks to their cinematic universe movies. Their movies became so successful that companies like Coke would ask to use their intellectual property in
their ads. Coca–Cola is a soft drink invented by John Pemberton on January 29, 1892. Before Pemberton died, the drink didn't reach any success

It is also a bit cheaper to buy. In the ad,it featured the Hulk and the Ant–Man from Marvel. Both of those characters are well known in the Marvel
universe. Coke wanted to include those characters because of their mainstream popularity. The Hulk had his own movie that came out in 2008 and was
a main character in the Avengers movies which, made more than a billion dollars world wide. The Ant–Man movie came out last year and was a box
office success. Since then, these characters became mainstream to the public. Coke wanted to take advantage of the characters because they know
that they will sell more Coke if they had the characters in their ad. It will make people want to buy coke since their favorite superheroes are
associated with the soft drink. For example, a kid might think " Hey the Hulk is drinking coke, I can be as strong as him if I drink Coke." this
makes the audience want to become like their favorite heroes. According to Signs of Life, Linda Serger wrote that "Many of these most successful
films are based on...we identify with the heroes because...we wish we could do what the hero does." (Serger pg. 387). Serger wrote that if the viewer
is fascinated with the character in film or tv and wants to be that character, the media is successful on what it wants to do. In the ad, it opens up with
Ant–Man sneaking into Bruce Banner's (the human form of the Hulk) lab to steal his last Coke Mini.

Okay, so the title is a bit of a misnomer as David Edelstein no longer maintains his online blog "Reel Time" for the Slate. His CV includes stints as a
critic for Boston Phoenix, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, Slate, (Aradillas, "Reel Time with David Edelstein) and his current employment at New
York Magazine, writing for their online entertainment section, Vulture. With the surge in popularity ofsuperhero films in the past decade, and several
more plotted for the future, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to capture the audience's affection. The current fad in this genre of films is
ensemble flicks. This year alone saw the release of four ensemble superhero blockbusters. David Edelstein has seen his share of superhero films, in a
career spanning almost four decades. This year all of his reviews on superhero films are unsurprisingly intertwined, comparing them to one another.
With Captain America: Civil War being the blockbuster to open the summer market (in the States anyways), expectations were set at what Edelstein
believes to be another average film in the money–making–minded Marvel franchise. Trying to build on the (monetary) success that the Avengers films
have made, Edelstein criticises that the studio spent more money on the appearance of Iron Man and the second tier heroes than an inventive plot. This

This is something he brings up in both his reviews for Civil War and Apocalypse. In Civil War, the main idea (which can be applied to all superhero
films) is whether "heroes" should be held accountable for their actions, namely the collateral damage caused, despite saving the world. Who are the
real villains in these stories? Edelstein is annoyed that these vigilante films never give us the answer to that question or even acknowledge a grey area.
By the end of these films, that idea is usually swept away or becomes another

If you were to compare Tony Stark to Bruce Wayne again, they are similar in the way that they are both billionaire geniuses who use their money
to fight crime. Their background stories are a little different, because of Bruce's tragic upbringing after his parents were murdered. There are many
comic book characters who become the hero they are because of a tragedy, like Spider Man and the death of Uncle Ben. Some heroes are a little
different such as the Green Lanterns, they usually don't have this devastating past; they are given a ring if they are found worthy, or Thor, who was
born a God. The theme of darkness vs light that shadows DC and Marvel usually follows them into the cinematic universes. It's the reason that Marvel
tends to do better in the box office overall, because parents are more willing to bring their child to see the Avengers than they are to see Batman. The
Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) brings in a lot more elements of lighthearted humor that makes the movies family friendly, compared to the DC
cinematic universe (DCU) which has those dark elements from the comics brought to life. Both movie franchises try and stay in the PG–13. The

The Value Net For Marvel Studios
Co–opetition/Value Net
The value–net for Marvel Studios is very large and diversified. We will focus this discussion in two key market segments. These are 1) the superhero
film genre and includes competing properties from DC Comics characters produced by Warner Brothers as well as other Marvel character films
produced by 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures who have licensed the rights to the Fantastic Four, X–Men, and Spider–Man 2) the new market of toy
and video game convergence pioneered by the Skylanders in which Disney's Infinity has recently launched the ability to play as Marvel characters.
The superhero film genre has been around a long time with several reboots of staple characters such as Batman, Spiderman, and Superman over the
years. However, they had limited box office success and their appeal did not appear to translate readily to the mass market. However, through the
success of both Marvel Studios and its rivals, this trend appears to be changing. In fact, Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy had a combined worldwide
box office of $2.46 Billion and "The Avengers" $1.51 Billion. (Marvel is Defining 2013) The two new Spider Man movies, The Amazing Spider Man
and Amazing Spider Man 2 had a combined worldwide box office of $1.47 Billion. (Source: http://www.the–numbers.com/movies/franchise

Andrew Cox Introduction
At the beginning of the 20th century, comic books emerged as a popular entertainment medium for the American public. Though initially composed of
many different genres, American comic books would come to be dominated by the superhero genre. Today, the comic book industry is dominated by
two companies: DC Comics and Marvel Comics.
Though DC Comics was arguably the progenitor of the superhero genre by creating Superman and Batman, Marvel Comics would refine the genre
through innovations in storytelling and art in the 1960s, publishing titles such as The Avengers, X–Men, Fantastic Four, and, most notably,
Spider–Man. As time progressed, however, the comic industry changed. Readers became older and a collector's submarket emerged. Marvel attempted
to take advantage of this by expanding into the trading card and distribution business, but the expansion was ill–conceived and this, in addition to other
market pressures, caused Marvel to declare bankruptcy in 1996. Marvel emerged from the crisis wiser. After merging with Toy Biz, Marvel began
licensing more of its properties out to Hollywood, beginning with Blade in 1996 and followed up with X–Men and Spider–Man in the early 2000s.
Going strong in 2009 with the smash hit success of Iron Man, Marvel was bought out by Disney at the end of 2009.

3. They've always been very liberal Marvel has never shied away from a story due to issues such as racism or sexism. There have been plenty of
downright messed up storylines in Marvel's comics. One of the first big ones was Tony Stark's battle with alcoholism. Being someone as powerful as
him while suffering from such a crippling illness was not taken lightly. He was arrogant, violent, careless, and worst of all self–destructive. It put
someone who is supposed to be admired and looked up to down in the gutter, somewhere you'd never think a hero belongs. There's also the subject of

It was years ago before let's say the last 10 years. Nowadays, we just have too many people with soft skin demanding that X Y and Z happen in

influential to those groups, in my opinion. It's forcing something to happen to simply pander to people whining on the internet. There have already
been successful and well–written black and female characters in Marvel before. Luke Cage, Black Panther, Blade, Bishop of the X–Men, She–Hulk,
Jean Grey, Storm, Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch...all of these characters are very well developed and have all had major roles in various
crossover events and within their own comics. It's not racist to say that it's stupid that there's a black spiderman. I mean when he was in the
ultimates universe it made more sense because in the multiverse anything is possible, but now he exists side by side with Peter Parker. He even
recently had a line in a comic where he literally said, I shit you not, "I don't want to be known as the black spiderman". Well considering peter
parker is alive and well...that's kind of all you are. You can't be just spiderman if the real original spiderman still exists. Makes no sense. As a result,
it's kind of more insulting to me that they'd even say that in the comic knowing damn well why he's known that way. Same thing goes for Lady Thor.
They really had no good reason to make the power of Thor go to a woman, it was just the right thing to do for diversity! Except true diversity comes
from writing someone new and interesting that captivates the audience and is also a woman. Not something Marvel hasn't done before, again. It's just

supremely dull because the book was not as exciting as he anticipated and did not answer many of the questions that the illustrations stirred up in him.
As an adult, he embarked upon a quest to understand the marvel and wonder that we know as life on planet Earth, and explain it to others such that, in
his own words,". The idea was to see if it isn't possible to understand and appreciate...the wonders and accomplishments of science at a level that isn't too
technical or demanding, but isn't superficial either." Bill Bryson has truly accomplished that in simple, entertaining, and in many ... Show more content

How atoms make up our very existence is an eye–opener when he explains it as, "...for you to be here now trillions of drifting atoms had somehow to
assemble in an intricate and intriguingly obliging manner to create you". In 'The Mighty Atom', Bryson elaborates on the structure of the atom; how
protons, the positive particles of the atom uniquely identify every element. The proton's negative counter parts are the fast moving electrons. After a
quick scientific step into the atomic world, Bryson ends with a witty quote 'Protons give an atom its identity, electrons its

Marvel Cinematic Universe Essay

  • 1. Marvel Cinematic Universe Essay 1.What factors contributed to Marvel Studios' success at global branding? Why? Currently the Marvel Cinematic Universe, often referred to as the MCU, represents one of the more calculated risks taken in the history of Hollywood. Composed of nine released films, with more on the way, two network television shows airing on ABC, and five Netflix series the MCU represents the largest interconnected film brand in cinema. Not only this, but since the start of phase one of the MCU, currently the MCU is preparing to enter the third and final phase, each and every project has represented tremendous commercial success. This has left many individuals in the industry, especially Marvel 's rival D.C. Comics, scratching their heads at this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comics, Hasbro, and Games Workshop. This position was to put their intellectual property up for offer to established movie studios that would make a movie based on an established character in exchange for a lions share of the profits. While this was the typical approach it didn 't take Marvel Comics long to realize the flaw within this approach. Different studios would show different levels of authenticity to their character and different levels of quality in the final cinematic product. This led to three unique problems. First, Marvel 's comic book based fanbase would often be displeased by the varying degrees of authenticity shown to beloved characters. Second, while Marvel hoped that movies based on their intellectual property would boost comic book sales this was wholly dependent on the care that the studio in charge of the film put into the final product. For example, films such as the X–Men (2000) created a renewed interest in X–Men comics due to its high quality; while films such as Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider 2, both of which were critically panned, led to a disconnect with the comic book fan base. The third and final problem was also the largest. Since Marvel was in effect auctioning off a connected universe to various distribution studios this meant that the movie rights to different parts of their intellectual property were all owned separately. This meant that Spider–man who was controlled by Sony couldn 't make an appearance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Marvel Enterprises Inc Essay ENTERNTAINMENT MARKETING CASE MARVEL ENTERPRISES INC ABISHEK BHASIN 2091775562 Marvel Enterprises, Inc. is an industry–leading firm whose core business is character–based entertainment. Marvel's foundation and success is built on their proprietary library of over 4,700 characters featured in a variety of media for nearly seventy years (1939–2004). Marvel utilizes its character franchises in licensing agreements, and publishing of comic books through the division of Marvel Comics. Marvel's strategy is to leverage its characters in a growing array of opportunities around the world, through their main business of licensing for entertainment media including feature films, consumer products, toys, video games, animated television, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Marvel's shares of those large revenues have been very minimal. By creating their own movie productions, Marvel will be able to receiver larger amount of revenues and mitigate any issues around growth. Although it is a high capital–intensive venture, and one that comes with many risks, Marvel's main success factor is the fact that they already have the 'recipe' for success when it comes to reaching their fan base. They have been successful in acquiring and retaining the best artists and writers for their publishing division and the same strategy must continue when they begin to produce their own movies by acquiring the best directors, writers, actors, etc. Marvel, and Arad, have the best knowledge in regards to their characters and the ability to control the production of movies will help ensure that cohesive messages are being illustrated through all mediums including comic books. WHY DIGITAL MEDIA– SHIFT IN CONSUMER TRENDS The majority of today's consumers are actively personalizing their digital experiences and sampling niche content and video with increasing frequency. The desire to personalize and sample niche content greatly impacts consumers' digital behavior across all industries and verticals. This new consumer mindset is all part of d–entertainment[iii]. Music, movies, television, video games, and the WWW are morphing into a single entity; hence consumers are no longer content to in watching shows or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Heroic Heros Most of the heroes in the superhero universe can be broken down into three groups. Marvel and DC Comics are the main contributors to this superhero fandom. These two companies even contributed the term superhero. Neither company owns it, they just share it. Many of the interesting heroes/ heroines have brain powers, body powers, and some are even powerless. This class is the mind boggling brainiac's. Not because they are smart, but because they have brain powers. Brain powers include telekinesis, aqua kinesis, telepathy, and many more. The most classic and recognizable candidate for Brainiac's would–be Jean Grey. "Jean Grey was 10 years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of a dying friend." ("Jean Grey", 2006, para.1). Her telekinetic abilities allow her to levitate or pick up cars with her mind. She also has telepathic abilities, this allows her to read minds and put thoughts in people's brains. Jean and her amazing powers landed her a spot as one of the founding X–Men. Aquaman is another suitable hero for this class. Aquaman, like his name suggests, has the power to control the water. This is called aqua kinesis. Another cool power of his is telepathy, like Jean, but with a twist. He uses his telepathy to communicate with the sea creatures, like the dolphins and the menacing sharks. There are moments where I'm in the shower, or even just playing in water that I feel like aqua man. I feel as if I have his aqua kinetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Marvel Of Marvel 's Universe Of Film, Television,... This paper will explore in detail how Marvel's superhero films work as a part of Marvel's transmedia universe of film, television, comic books and other sources of media. Briefly touching on what transmedia storytelling is and a brief history of to how Marvel has become what it is today. Firstly, transmedia storytelling "refers to a new aesthetic that has emerged in response to media convergence – one that places new demands on consumers and depends on the active participation of knowledge communities" (Jenkins, p.20–21, 2006). For transmedia storytelling to work, the content that is produced must be presented in at least three different mediums and that each medium must have differing content. Each media piece, whether it be a film, comic book, video, etc; acts as a standalone story in a wider universe. This form of storytelling adds a lot of richness and detail to the story's universe as we get character backstories and secondary plot lines. With this, the audience becomes actively involved as they become stakeholders in their transmedia experience in which they can be motivated to engage with other fans, seek out other parts of the story, and contribute to the narrative by adding their own content (Fan–Fiction). In 1941, comic artist Stan Lee made is debut with "Captain America Foils the Traitor's Revenge'. He worked on a number of different genres of comics until Marvel's rival DC Comics brought back the superhero archetype. The first group of superheroes Lee created, ... • 5. Verlyn Klinkenborg's Fondness The article 'On the Recentness of What We Know,' written by Verlyn Klinkenborg, is a pleasant read about the author's fondness of astronomy and his insight regarding the science of it and knowledge gleaned from it. Klinkenborg recounts a few of his star–gazing memories and then proceeds to analyze the effects cosmological discoveries have on him personally and humanity in general. The author shares bits of theoretical history of the universe and information on the early astronomers whose hypotheses have developed that history. He goes on to reference various well known discoveries throughout the years and marvels at how drastically information in recent years has changed the stories of our universe. • 6. Big Impacts On My Childhood When I think of big impacts on my childhood, heroes are definitely near the top. Whether it was Legolas from Lord of the Rings or Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, I wanted to save the world. Maybe that 's why I fell in love with comics early on. I wanted the admiration from my peers that these heroes got from me, and yet, the world doesn 't work that way. I realized pretty quickly that it wasn 't like in the movies and comics. The world didn 't exist to give you a pat on the back whenever you did a good deed. Maybe that 's why from the moment I picked up my first XMEN comic, I fell in love. FINALLY there were heroes who lived in a more realistic society. The world they protected, shunned them. They were spat on by those they saved. Here I was, a geeky, straight A, small, spindly little fourth grader with glasses and flood pants who had always tried to be the hero. Finally I had found a group of people who were as unappreciated as I felt. It seems as though many others felt that way too, and quickly Xmen became Marvels' crowning glory, yet as the newest generation rolls in, Marvel has had a stroke of luck with a film deal of the Avengers series, and of course the population eats it up. It seems as though Marvel has been putting a lot of effort into anything Avengers since Fox owns the rights to Xmen. This unfortunate fact makes me bitter because Xmen contains much more positive messaging for audiences than the currently more successful Avengers. Xmen hasn't been getting much love ... • 9. Archetypes In Star Wars Star Wars. Harry Potter. The Marvel Cinematic Universe. These seemingly unrelated movie franchises seem to not have a lot in common other than the fact that they were all uber–successful. In actuality, however, they have a lot more in common than that. These movie franchises at one point or another have served as the modern media mythological framework for a period of time. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has used a slightly altered Hero's Cycle, archetypes and the teaching of life lessons to create a modern mythology that fulfills Joseph Campbell's fourth function of myth and has also become a modern media mythological framework that has already begun to be copied. Joseph Campbell first introduced the idea of a Hero's Cycle in his book "The Hero with a Thousand Faces." The Hero's Cycle is a series of several steps that a typical hero story, whether an ancient Greek story such as Hercules or a modern story told through film like Star Wars, follows. The main steps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Archetypes along with the hero's cycle have really been the foundation that all modern mythological media have been built on. If you applied the hero's cycle and the main archetypes typically used in myth to Star Wars, Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, you would see similar results as shown by comparing these to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These movies all have a very similar structure but it is often the lessons that the story focuses in on that set the movies apart. The Harry Potter books and movies, for example, placed a much larger emphasis on the problems facing a typical school child, than really any movie series had before. This is what made it unique. So how did Disney make Disney Infinity have similar narrative relationships between the film's story and the game's story? Well, Disney designed Disney infinity to not contradict the two storylines but instead complement each other. This defines Disney Infinity's storytelling as part of the franchise's hard transmedia storytelling, because of their successful efforts to make the universe fully canonical. Hence, in a race to safe is home Asgard from the powerful Hela, he leads a quest for survival that involves him fighting the Hulk. Taika Waititi directed the movie, and his trademark is seen all over the movie with the movie's sense of humor and vibrant nature. The movie time frame is after the Avengers: Age of Ultron, which explains why both the Hulk and Thor are not present in Captain America: Civil War. The movie is a quirky cosmic adventure comedy that features some of the most colorful supporting characters in the Marvel universe such as Loki, the Incredible Hulk, and Valkyrie. The movie through the assembled cast translates very well on the screen throughout their performances. What makes a good movie? What make a good movie are a good storyline and its ability to make people laugh, to entertain, as well as its ability to utilize its characters fully throughout the movie. Hence, from Thor: Ragnarok experience, in the Marvel universe the best movie is on that the director is left to do his work in the movie. The movie utilizes all opportunities to make the audience laugh. Waititi utilizes all the possible scenarios in the movie to build humor. Trying to build on the (monetary) success that the Avengers films have made, Edelstein criticises that the studio spent more money on the appearance of Iron Man and the second tier heroes than an inventive plot. This is something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is something he brings up in both his reviews for Civil War and Apocalypse. In Civil War, the main idea (which can be applied to all superhero films) is whether "heroes" should be held accountable for their actions, namely the collateral damage caused, despite saving the world. Who are the real villains in these stories? Edelstein is annoyed that these vigilante films never give us the answer to that question or even acknowledge a grey area. • 30. Dc Marvel : Dc Comics DC vs Marvel There's an age old battle amongst us "nerds" over who is better in the comic book world, DC Comics or Marvel Comics? Everyone has their own opinions on who has the better stories and characters, and which comes out with the better movies and shows, but when you break it down each one has different qualities that make it better. Marvel and DC are the most well–known comic creators in the world. These companies kick–started the superhero/supervillain franchise. Marvel comics was founded in October 1939 Timely Comics, by Martin Goodman. The first comic published by Marvel included the first appearance of the Human Torch and Namor the Sub–Mariner ("Marvel Comics"). DC was founded six years earlier in May 1934, as National Allied ... If you were to compare Tony Stark to Bruce Wayne again, they are similar in the way that they are both billionaire geniuses who use their money to fight crime. Their background stories are a little different, because of Bruce's tragic upbringing after his parents were murdered. There are many comic book characters who become the hero they are because of a tragedy, like Spider Man and the death of Uncle Ben. Some heroes are a little different such as the Green Lanterns, they usually don't have this devastating past; they are given a ring if they are found worthy, or Thor, who was born a God. The theme of darkness vs light that shadows DC and Marvel usually follows them into the cinematic universes. It's the reason that Marvel tends to do better in the box office overall, because parents are more willing to bring their child to see the Avengers than they are to see Batman. The Marvel cinematic universe (MCU) brings in a lot more elements of lighthearted humor that makes the movies family friendly, compared to the DC cinematic universe (DCU) which has those dark elements from the comics brought to life. Both movie franchises try and stay in the PG–13. The release of Deadpool changed a lot by being the first successful rated R comic book movie. • 32. The Value Net For Marvel Studios Co–opetition/Value Net The value–net for Marvel Studios is very large and diversified. We will focus this discussion in two key market segments. These are 1) the superhero film genre and includes competing properties from DC Comics characters produced by Warner Brothers as well as other Marvel character films produced by 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures who have licensed the rights to the Fantastic Four, X–Men, and Spider–Man 2) the new market of toy and video game convergence pioneered by the Skylanders in which Disney's Infinity has recently launched the ability to play as Marvel characters. The superhero film genre has been around a long time with several reboots of staple characters such as Batman, Spiderman, and Superman over the years. However, they had limited box office success and their appeal did not appear to translate readily to the mass market. However, through the success of both Marvel Studios and its rivals, this trend appears to be changing. In fact, Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy had a combined worldwide box office of $2.46 Billion and "The Avengers" $1.51 Billion. • 36. Marvel Of Comics : Marvel Comics Marvel Comics Luke Gerrard Sam Hojat Jimmy Mick John Seibert Andrew Cox Introduction At the beginning of the 20th century, comic books emerged as a popular entertainment medium for the American public. Though initially composed of many different genres, American comic books would come to be dominated by the superhero genre. Today, the comic book industry is dominated by two companies: DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Though DC Comics was arguably the progenitor of the superhero genre by creating Superman and Batman, Marvel Comics would refine the genre through innovations in storytelling and art in the 1960s, publishing titles such as The Avengers, X–Men, Fantastic Four, and, most notably, Spider–Man. As time progressed, however, the comic industry changed. Readers became older and a collector's submarket emerged. Marvel attempted to take advantage of this by expanding into the trading card and distribution business, but the expansion was ill–conceived and this, in addition to other market pressures, caused Marvel to declare bankruptcy in 1996. Marvel emerged from the crisis wiser. After merging with Toy Biz, Marvel began licensing more of its properties out to Hollywood, beginning with Blade in 1996 and followed up with X–Men and Spider–Man in the early 2000s. Going strong in 2009 with the smash hit success of Iron Man, Marvel was bought out by Disney at the end of 2009. • 40. Research Paper On Marvel's Comics 3. They've always been very liberal Marvel has never shied away from a story due to issues such as racism or sexism. There have been plenty of downright messed up storylines in Marvel's comics. One of the first big ones was Tony Stark's battle with alcoholism. Being someone as powerful as him while suffering from such a crippling illness was not taken lightly. He was arrogant, violent, careless, and worst of all self–destructive. It put someone who is supposed to be admired and looked up to down in the gutter, somewhere you'd never think a hero belongs. There's also the subject of Ant–Man and his wife, The Wasp's story. At one point Hank Pym was actually using his technology to forcibly shrink her and basically slap her around. An abusive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was years ago before let's say the last 10 years. Nowadays, we just have too many people with soft skin demanding that X Y and Z happen in comics because it hurts their feelings. It's caused Marvel to scramble and make weird decisions, the most important of which to me is the re–branding of a character. I'm mainly talking about Miles Morales and Lady Thor. To re –skin a character with a different gender or race is not being legitimately influential to those groups, in my opinion. It's forcing something to happen to simply pander to people whining on the internet. There have already been successful and well–written black and female characters in Marvel before. Luke Cage, Black Panther, Blade, Bishop of the X–Men, She–Hulk, Jean Grey, Storm, Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch...all of these characters are very well developed and have all had major roles in various crossover events and within their own comics. It's not racist to say that it's stupid that there's a black spiderman. I mean when he was in the ultimates universe it made more sense because in the multiverse anything is possible, but now he exists side by side with Peter Parker. He even recently had a line in a comic where he literally said, I shit you not, "I don't want to be known as the black spiderman". Well considering peter parker is alive and well...that's kind of all you are. You can't be just spiderman if the real original spiderman still exists. Makes no sense. As a result, it's kind of more insulting to me that they'd even say that in the comic knowing damn well why he's known that way. Same thing goes for Lady Thor. They really had no good reason to make the power of Thor go to a woman, it was just the right thing to do for diversity! Except true diversity comes from writing someone new and interesting that captivates the audience and is also a woman. Not something Marvel hasn't done before, again. It's just insanely ...
