2. Artist Selected
• The three artist that I studied for my art 21
project where Michael Ray Charles, Leonardo
Drew and Mark Bradford. Each artist is African
American but from a different geographic area
of the United States of America. Their works
of art are as diversified as there are regions of
the country.
3. INFO
• Mark Bradford is a Los Angeles Mark Bradford
was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1961.
He received a BFA (1995) and MFA (1997)
from the California Institute of the Arts in
Valencia.
6. Style
• Mr. Bradford is an artist that makes large
collage pieces. Many of his pieces have
detailed line and moderate to broad color
contrast .The art work that Mr. Bradford is in
front of was made in May of 2011. My take on
his work is called the Disney trip.
7. INFO
• Michael Ray Charles was born in 1967 in
Lafayette, Louisiana, and graduated from
McNeese State University in Lake Charles,
Louisiana, in 1985. In college, he studied
advertising design and illustration, eventually
moving to painting, his preferred medium.
Charles also received an MFA degree from the
University of Houston in 1993.
8. STYLE
• Mr. Charles work is very offensive and yet
demands a conversation about the topics he
picks. Mr. Charles work center around sambas
minstrels and mammy's. The post photo
depicts a black devil with a racist comment
partially block out by Mr. Charles body.
Suburban Nightmare was drawn in the spirit
of Mr. Charles Work.
11. INFO
• Leonardo Drew was born in Tallahassee,
Florida in 1961, and grew up in a public
housing project in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Leonardo Drew attended Parsons School of
Design, and received a BFA from Cooper Union
(1985).
12. Style
• Leonardo Drew is Stand in front of his work of
art which is list as number137 created in
2010.I is a collection of individual wood place
in a geometric pattern .These wood stick
form a three dimensional wall. Mr. Drew's
work is very intricate and time consuming to
produce. Money woes is the novice
arrangement in the light of Mr. Drew’s work.
15. Conclusion
• In conclusion the three artist style are very
different from each other. Each one has their
own success and rate of creation. Some are
much more time consuming than other
however the end result is worth the wait.
