The Attack On September 11
The attack on September 11, 2001 is defined as a group of Islamic terrorist who are believed to be members of the al–
Qaeda, attacking the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, also known as the Twin Towers, by hijacking four
commercial airlines. Only three of the four attacks succeed. This is considered a terrorist attack to most of us. From
this incident we can define terrorism as a well–planned violent attack that targets innocent people to send a political
message by planting fear not just to the country or government but also to civilians. However, terrorism cannot and
should not be easily defined in this way. The definition of terrorism defined above is defined in America's point of
view and not al–Qaeda's perspective. If we put ourselves in al–Qaeda's shoes, our definition of terrorism is going to
change. Al–Qaeda declared war to America because they felt that the Muslims were threatened by the U.S. as well as
their freedom. It is not to be said that the actions of al–Qaeda should be justified, but we should try to understand
them before making assumptions. Al–Qaeda dealt with their situation to extreme by planning massive attacks but it
could be considered as a method of protection instead of a terrorist attack.
The most unexpected horrifying day in the United States can be said to be the terrorism attack of September 11, 2001
which killed approximately 3,000 and injured almost 10,000 people. As most already know, the attack was carried by
19 Islamic terrorist from

September 11, 2001: Conspiracy or Not?
What if everything one was supposed to believe was wrong? What if the people who are supposed to protect citizens
from danger, do not? What if 9/11, the most tragic day in American history, was caused by the people we are supposed
to respect and we are supposed and to believe, our government? Could our government have masterminded this
horrific crime? Actually, I believe they did. In August 1997, on the front cover of FEMA's, The Federal Emergency
Management Agency, Emergency Response to Terrorism Manual it shows the World Trade Center towers in the cross
hairs, sights used for aiming a gun or missile for accuracy, and then again in June 2000, the Department of Justice

From the street there were people screaming and running it was mass chaos. At this time you could see the media and
firefighters everywhere. I got the hell out of there went home hugged my wife. I realized God had spared me that day.
A lot of my friends and coworkers died that day. I'm truly sorry, sometimes I feel guilty that I didn't do my part to help
but I was afraid for my life. A couple of my friends that made it from a bit higher up said it sounded like a bunch of
explosions. I remember thinking after hearing from them and seeing the video footage what the heck happened? In my
opinion it felt like a bomb (Jones). Hearing his story, it made me scratch my head and think. If this was planned was it
really supposed to kill thousands of people like it did? The blame for this tragedy was placed on Osama Bin Laden, by
the commission report. Then why does the Most Wanted poster listing Osama Bin Laden not list the September 11th
attacks (Most Wanted)? When asked that question the FBI replied, "We have no hard evidence against Osama (Loose
Change Final Cut)." Without hard evidence how can one claim that he was behind it? Again, no answer was given.
Another glaring omission that the government has never addressed is why fully intact passports of the alleged
hijackers we found blocks away from the crash site (Loose Change). If everything including the bodies from the plane

Impacts Of September 11, 2001
The events of September 11, 2001 showed how forms of transportation can be used to cause catastrophic destruction.
Not only was this mode of transportation used to kill all of the passengers onboard the aircrafts, but the two planes
that hit the World Trade Centers and the plane that hit the Pentagon killed many people inside the buildings. Terrorist
attacks via mass transit poses a simpler and greater threat. Millions of people within the U.S. use mass transit every
day to save money and time, among other reasons (American Public Transportation Association, n.d.). Unlike airports,
where heavy security measures are in place, mass transit sources have very little to no security. Since 9/11 there has
been a push for increased intelligence sharing

"8:45 a.m.: A hijacked passenger jet, American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston, Massachusetts, crashes into the north
tower of the World Trade Center, tearing a gaping hole in the building and setting it afire. 9:03 a.m.: A second
hijacked airliner, United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center and
explodes. Both buildings are burning. 9:43 a.m.: American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon, sending up a
huge plume of smoke. Evacuation begins immediately."(CNN.com). The terrorist carefully chose these targets
because they knew it would send a certain message or meaning to the American government and it's people, as well

This idea has us believing than nothing is safe, and we can never really relax and enjoy our lives as we did before
September 11, 2001. The goal of terrorism being met here once again.
In America we place great value in our famous skylines of free standing structures. They show how advanced our
country is economically. We can build giant stadiums such as The Raven's PSI Net in Baltimore for nothing more than
a game. For Americans these buildings flex our muscles and show our might. However, many of these skyscrapers
hold great function for American society within their walls. Some of these buildings are much more than just a big
playground or strength prop, none more so than the World Trade Center in New York City. These towers were the
places where 50,000 Americans and foreign nationals came to work each day. This made it an ideal target for the
terrorists, because they destroyed a symbol of American work ethic and pride and murdered thousands with an
unbelievably wicked one two punch. They also wanted to cut the throat of our economy by instantly erasing 50,000
jobs and putting the American routine on hold indefinitely. The trickle down affect has been overwhelming, bringing
the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries to their knees. The towers are gone forever, replaced with fear of the
unknown and a state of paranoia

everywhere possible including the areas of homeland security, national defense, and in the private sector. Tourism in
New York City plummeted affected the attacks. This caused a massive loss in a sector which employed 280,000
people and generated $25 billion per year. Hotel occupancy fell below 40% and 3,000 employees were laid off in the
week following the attacks. (Wiki– Economics, History.com) Health effects of the September 11, 2001 attacks were
almost non–existent at first, but years and years of study showed that people who worked around the debris from long
periods of time are much more likely to develop PTSD. Some heart conditions and respiratory disease have been
linked to the September 11, 2001 attacks, but nothing has been proven. Some mental illness exists as a result of the
attacks, but 80% of the mental illness was caused from being hit in the head with debris or from actually falling with
the tower. (NYC Health) As a result of the September 11, 2001 attacks we invaded Afghanistan and started a war with
Iraq as well. These wars affected the culture of our nation greatly! Families were split as loved ones were lost in that
war. Roughly 3.1 million Americans entered military service between 2001 and 2011. Nearly 2 million soldiers were
deployed in that time and more than 6,000 American troops were killed. Roughly 44,000 were wounded. Of the
wounded, more than 18 percent of the wounded developed post–traumatic stress disorder or depression and almost 20

September 11th, 2001. Several planes were hijacked on their way from the East Coast of the U.S.A. to California.
Two of the four, American Airlines flight 11 and 175 collided with each of the twin towers respectively. Flight 77 hit
the west side of the Pentagon, leading to the collapse of the immediate area and United Airlines flight 93 crashed into
a field in Pennsylvania after a power struggle on the aircraft. A total of 2,996 people were killed that day, including
the passengers and crew aboard the aircraft, along with the 19 terrorists. The attacks sent the whole world into
mourning, with numerous memorials being erected and the day being nationalised as a public holiday. It also set in

This is where agencies such as the CIA and NSA have been ignoring peoples rights, and invading their privacy by
spying on them and stealing their data. An prime example of this is the PRISM Surveillance program, of which the
details where leaked to the Washington post and The Guardian by whistle blower Eduard Snowden. The program
collects user collects e–mail, voice, text and video chats of foreigners and an unknown number of Americans from
Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Apple and other tech giants. The program was present in a dozen other countries including
New Zealand and Australia, collecting data illegally from its citizens as well and thus the issue spreads from its U.S.
foundations. The right to privacy is something every human on the planet has, but the NSA and numerous other
nefarious agencies choose to ignore this and continue to snoop on citizens, checking their every digital footprint. It
also gives the government an unprecedented amount of power and control, which history has taught us, can easily lead
into greed and lust corrupting the government and country This loss of privacy is very ironic in a society based around
freedom and choice, but is also illegal and morally, yet no consequences have been dished out to the guilty

The Attacks on September 11th 2001
September 11th of 2001 is a day in history that will be remembered forever. What was first thought to be a freak
accident turned into a horrific nightmare for our country, America was under attack. On the morning of the attacks a
group of al Qaeda terrorists took control of four commercial jetliners headed to California and purposively crashed
two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The last plane fell into a Pennsylvania field never reaching its
final destination, The White House. These attacks on the United States were formulated by the Islamic culture that has
been planning this for many years. Shortly after these Twin Towers fell, the United States started mourning for the
loss of those citizens killed in the violent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nearly thirty minutes after the terrorists launched their take over, the passengers charged the cockpit door. The
hijackers attempted knocking the passengers off balance by pitching the nose of the airplane up and down. The
passengers did not give up; they continued their assault until the hijacker knew they were about to break through. The
flight was going over Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the pilot decided to aim the airplane going 580 miles per hour
into an abandoned field only about twenty minutes from its original target, Washington, D.C. where they planned on
attacking the White House (CNN). After the attack all that was left was death and wreckage. Shortly after the
demolition many engineers, contractors, ironworkers and rescue workers went to help the police and firefighters with
volunteer work to help the victims. All of these people were very concerned with recovering any survivors that were
trapped within the soldering wreckage. Large pieces of iron that fell from the wreckage needed to be moved from the
scene and required larger machines to do so. Over 108 thousand trucks were used to transport materials to multiple
facilities so that the wreckage can be investigated to help decipher human remains and physical evidence of the
hijackers and their planes. Only six survivors were pulled out of the fallen towers and these were

The September 11, 2001 Attacks
The September 11, 2001 attacks were a series of four terrorist attacks. These attacks were launched by the Islamic
terrorist group al–Queda. But let me start from the beginning. On September 11, 2001 starting at 8:46 a.m. ending at
10:28 a.m. in New York City and Washington D.C. terrorist by the Islamic group al–Queda four passenger airliners
were hijacked. This was done by the 19 al–Queda terrorists so they could be flown into buildings in suicide attacks.
Two of these planes, from Americana Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North
and South towers, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Within two hours, both towers collapsed
with a lot of debri and the fires caused a lot of buildings to collapse in the WTC. A third plane, American Airlines
Flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon which is the headquarters of the United Sates Department of Defense. The
fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was targeted at D.C., But crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania,
after its passengers tried to overcome the hijackers. In all 3,000 people died in the attacks. Which included the 227
civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes. The event was also the deadliest incident for firefighters and for law
enforcement officers in the history of the United States. With 343 and 72 killed. The state quickly suspected al–
Queda. The group's leader was Osama bin Laden which he initially denied any involvement in the attacks. It

The Senseless Tragedy Of September 11
The immoral tragedy that overwhelmed our nation phiscally and emotionally on September 11 has shocked a
numerous amount of Americans. The images of the massacre that traveled all around the world just proved how
helpless the world is to terrorism. However that shock turned into rage, fuming anger very quick. A threating mix of
emotions began to settle across America when a hijacked airliner crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City.
During that early morning American Airlines flight 11 just moments earlier crashed into the North Tower. I was in
first grade at the time in school and when they told us what was happening I didn't really understand until I saw my
teacher crying. Then at 9:05 am, about twenty minutes after the first collision, United Airlines flight 175 crashed into
the South Tower. All I remember was my mom picking me up from school immediately with sorrow tears running
down her cheeks. Turning on the television was just a nightmare. Every single one of the news stations repeatedly
showed the buildings collapsing to the ground. I felt a great amount of grief for the families of there loved ones that
sadly did not make it out alive. They had to relive that terrible moment over and over again. How could such an awful
act be committed on this beautiful place we live on? All we can do, is look at the terrorists who could obligate this
depressing act and what possible reasons they have for doing it and why they would think to do such a thing. Many

Dead of September 11th Analytical Essay
Analyse The Dead of September 11 The Dead of September 11 is deep poem that provokes many feelings and
thoughts. There are many topics that are rather easy to delve in to. Throughout this essay, three of these literary
techniques will be addressed and "delved into", so to speak. These techniques are: diction, figurative language and
tone. Throughout the following essay several large ideas and the theme of this poem will also be addressed, including
but not limited to the universality of the poem and the absolute obliteration of falsities and of false intimacy. Tony
Morrison has created a complex, captivating piece of literary art that can be viewed and be interpreted in many
different ways, with each individual person who examines it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, that depends on where the dead are, which depending on your beliefs they can be just about anywhere, or
everywhere. The harsh words "no words stronger than the steel that pressed you into itself" could be considered a
metaphor between the worthiness and strength of words compared to the dead and that the dead are DEAD. There are
no words that have the power to bring them back. The quote "No scripture older or more elegant than the ancient
atoms you have become" could possibly be referring to how all the atoms in our body are recycled and ancient and
that after our death, after our soul escapes our body, our body returns to being merely ancient atoms and when the soul
is gone, no words can bring them back into the body, none can "reanimate" the ancient atoms until they are recycled
into new living beings. The last technique or literary device is tone. The tone portrayed through this speaker is rather
confusing. There are determined, frustrated and harsh aspects along with sad, useless and bittersweet emotions
portrayed throughout this poem. The speaker was determined to speak to the dead, in a pure fashion, yet because of
human nature, this is virtually impossible, which made the speaker frustrated. The tone was harsh because of some of
the diction throughout. Yet, the tone saddened when the speaker said "and I have nothing to give you". It made the
tone come out as feeling useless and regretful. Finally, in the last bit, the tone was

The Terrorist Attacks Of September 11
The terrorist attacks of September 11, altered American 's perceptions of the role in the world by strongly supporting
the increased spending on national security and counterterrorism. Also, Americans have become more aware of how
and where to engage in the world. As a result of the attacks, the US now has a defense that totals to nearly half the
global total and has military dominance over scene, air, and space. The US also has the capability to dispatch massive
military power anywhere in the world making them the system shaper. You may ask yourself just have a bad or do you

Some lawyers even changed their clients from helping them get richer, like Kwanzaa Butler, to use their business
expertise and the non–profit world. Thousands of people came together to volunteer and show support to surrounding
business owners which lost all their belongings and inventory. Sometimes a simple as retrieving death certificate was
increasingly challenging because without a body, the process could take years. Lawyers, judges, and public defenders
teamed together to make the situation run smoother with less struggles. Canceling was also something provided
because many people had issues still dealing with the loss of a family member or traumatized by the experience.
September 11 had a huge impact on how us as humans saw the world at that moment and changed our own priorities
to give a helping hand to those who were in a more complex situation. Although there was an abundance of support
the US had to make changes on who to associate with and didn 't take this attack as something that can be shut off.

would security is put first then any other thing because if someone is willing to give their life to attack the nation we

Remembering September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001 is a date in history that changed the lives of people from all over the world and especially the
lives of Americans. On this day nineteen militant men associated with al–Qaeda, an Islamic extremist group, hijacked
four airplanes and carried out multiple suicide attacks on different locations in the United States. Two of the planes
directly struck the World Trade Center located in New York City, one of the other two planes hit the Pentagon in
Washington D.C., and the final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could reach its final destination. On
this day, more than 3,000 people were killed including over 400 first responding police officers and firefighters. In
recent years as people look back on that day it is remembered as a time when the country was joined together by grief
and showed an overwhelming amount of comfort and support to the victims and their families; it was also a time of
extreme national pride. People also remember that following the attacks the economy suffered tremendously, in
addition, air traffic which makes up a portion of the economy was greatly disrupted, both of which created uncertainty
about the security of the financial markets critical to the success of the United States. What most people do not
remember is the immediate backlash and hostility the Muslim and Arab communities received following the attacks
by both civilians and the media. This is a topic that has been largely ignored by the public and media's

October 12th. Clearly, as stated in all of his press conferences, president Bush wants to get those responsible (AKA

For the building to meet the Port Authority's requirement of ten million square feet of office space the building would
have to be 110 stories, however to build a structure that tall using existing elevators systems would not be feasible as
elevators would take up all the space inside the building making it uneconomic. Yamasaki and his team devised a new
system that had express elevators running the length of the building and only stopping at floor that were called sky
lobbies, from which local elevators would connect to each floor. The buildings were constructed using framed tube
structures, an external lattice of steel that formed a tube around a internal lattice tube core. This lattice tube structure
allowed the building to overcome the lateral forces induced on the building by the extreme wind in the area. The
construction of this building also used a range of other innovative techniques such as wind tunnel tests and slurry
walls. Construction on the North Tower began in August 1968 and the South Tower in 1969, by the end of 1970
tenants had moved in to the North Tower and by 1972 had moved into the South Tower. The extensive use of

Tuesday, September 11th 2001. What seemed like an ordinary day, would soon become one for the books. People
rushed to work and frantically prepared for their day. The events that occurred that day had lasting impacts on
America. Air travel has become more of a hassle, deportation nearly skyrocketed and New Yorkers face health issues

after the attack they enacted the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (TSA). Airports began using full body
scanners and even x–ray equipment to ensure that no passenger was carrying any weapon or destructive items.
Engineers made modifications to the planes including hardened cockpit doors and first–class cabin curtains were
dropped by some airlines. Pilots can now apply to become a federal flight deck officer, allowing them to carry a

The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead, we have emerged stronger and more unified.
9/11 was the worst day we have ever seen but it brought out the best in all of us. 9/11 is the worst and the most
devastating day in New York history. This day will never be forgotten in the history of America. The day that the

Narrative Essay On September 11
On september 11, 2001, There were multiple attacks that left thousands of innocent people dead. The places that were
Targeted was the twin towers In New York, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and the last plane crashed somewhere in
Pennsylvania on a farm. There were a total of 19 hijackers. The attack that is most popular is the World Trade Center
or better known as the twin towers. Even though the other attacks were tragic, People mostly focused on the World
Trade Center in New York because, it's dead rate. These twin towers were monumental to any and everyone who laid
eyes. I remember being told story of how I was 5 months old and in church. Not realizing how bad this impacted the
united states outside of the church walls. Growing up over the year I started to realize what damage the terrorist did to
our nation. They left countless children without a mother or father. What really interest me is how did two gigantic
building that took almost a decade to build fall in the matter of two to 3 hours? This all happened because a heartless
man decided to end innocent people's lives over some dumb feud. The reason i want to go this trip is because i enjoy
learning about history. Expectually something that happened in my lifetime. When i used to live in South Carolina i
use to borrow books from the library on 9/11. I used to watch videos on how people were like inside the building.

The September 11th Conspiracy Essay
On September 11, 2001, the United States media provided Americans with false news reports and concealed the truth
of 9–11 which brought about an illegal war in the Middle East. The attacks were put in place to deter people's
thoughts and this way the United States could steal oil while maintain public hatred against the Middle East and
terrorism. By keeping the public in fear, they could control the public. The U.S. therefore created a false enemy, also

(www.whatreallyhappened.com) If one was to compare the videos to other planned demolition, the building falls in
the exact physical way. Larry Silverstein, the owner of the World Trade Center complex, admitted on a September
2002 PBS documentary, "America Rebuilds" that he and the FDNY "decided to pull WTC 7 on the day of the attack"
(www.prisonplanet.com). By this, he meant that they decided to demolish the tower. But this news is shocking
because controlled demolition of that accuracy and safety requires months of planning. It means that it may have been
planned demolition. In February of 2002 Silverstein Properties won $861 million from Industrial Risk Insurers to
rebuild on the site of World Trade Center 7 (www.prisonplanet.com). Silverstein Properties' estimated investment in
World Trade Center 7 was $386 million (www.prisonplanet.com). In effect, the collapse of World Trade Center 7 left
Larry $500 million in profit. When buildings are demolished, the explosives are placed in the central column, so the
structure falls inwards and does not damage other surrounding buildings (www.whatreallyhappened.com). The only
way the building can fall like this or fall period is through the use of explosives (www.whatreallyhappened.com).
What this signifies is that someone had to have known of the attacks months prior. The World Trade Center is full of
surveillance cameras and is monitored all day long for theft and security purposes

September 11 And Skyscrapers
Why do people want to build in the sky? Skyscrapers are the most iconic symbol of the city and are amazing
landscapes created by humans who reach the clouds and ignore gravity. It implements human aspirations that we want
to build a much higher level of buildings. There is no doubt that constructing tall buildings is not something new. The
most important things while raising buildings higher are its structural design and life safety for people living or
working inside the buildings. Today, as the building is touching to the sky, occupants of buildings are worried more
and more about how safe the building is. The major concerns regarding tall building are unplanned fire and terrorist
attack. The 43rd president George W. Bush quoted in results to 9/11, "Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of
our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent
the steel of American resolve". As prospective engineers look to the future, we have the opportunity to learn the very
lesson by understanding the collapse of the WTC Towers. In the years 9/11, the time after has arisen to learn and
improve the design of future tall buildings against fire–induced collapse. The building we build inspires us and
reflects on who we are. The collapse of the World Trade Center buildings on September 11, 2001, was the "Black Day
"in American History. The terrorist attack on the world trade center on September 11, 2001, was

What Is September 11, 2001?
The date September 11, 2001 is an all–knowing sad remembrance of how our country fell victim to terrorist attacks.
The terrorist group, Al–Qaeda, seized U.S airplanes and crashed them into the buildings of the World Trade Center,
killing thousands of U.S citizens. Along with the problem of why this happened, we must also determine how this
happened; and that the problem lies within the limited security of the U.S travel agencies. In the proposal of the H.R.
2127 Securing Expedited Screening Act, this would limit screening processes for traveling to certain individuals who
are members of secured traveler programs, therefore, I do not support this proposal and it should not be authorized. In

September 11th, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorists aboard four hijacked passenger planes carried out suicidal attacks against
the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., killing everyone on board the planes
and nearly 3,000 people on the ground. A fourth plane went down into a Pennsylvania field, killing all on–board, after
passengers and crew attempted to take back command of their aircraft from the hijackers. The World Trade Center
was hit first, Boeing 767 American Airlines flight loaded with 20,000 gallons of jet fuel smashed into the north tower
of the World Trade Center. That impact left a broad, smoldering hole near the 80th floor of the 110–story skyscraper,

September 11th and the World of Aviation September 11, 2001 was a Tuesday and changed air transportation as we
know it. This devastating day in history was when a total of four American Airlines airplanes were hijacked. Most
collided with important United States buildings. The first two planes intentionally collided with each of the Twin
Towers in New York. Shortly after, the third plane hit the Pentagon in Virginia. Amazingly, the passengers on the
fourth plane gained control of the plane and never allowed it to collide with a building. As a result, they suffered a
crash landing in an open field in Pennsylvania. That day in history, now referred to as 9–11, had a major impact on
international, domestic, commercial, and private air travel because it illustrated something had to be changed in
regards to safety and security issues.
Before, during, and after 9–11, were all very different times in regards to aviation. Prior to this event, many issues
needed to be discussed, but matters were mostly related to overall safety not terrorism. The Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) took action immediately. The International
Air Transport Association and the Federal Aviation Administration made security their "top priority" (Taylor 8). They
immediately made important changes to improve everyone's safety. Even though commercial and private air travel are

In hopes to pressure the president into declaring war with Spain, a group created the slogan "Remember the Maine, to

Remember September 11, 2001
Many people can look back and remember September 9th, 2001, like it was yesterday. This day will be forever
remembered in America's History. This is the day the world seemed as it stood still. On 9/11, America experienced a
major terrorist attack, which hijacked planes were crashed into the World Trade Centers in New York City, crashed
into the Pentagon in the District of Columbia, and had a plane crash into the fields of Pennsylvania. There are many
theories on what actually happened and who was involved in the 9/11 attack. The most common word is that Islamic
terrorists were the main group involved. It is also said that these terrorists were financed by Osama bin Laden's al–
Qaeda terrorist organization. Which is why he was such a wanted man after the attacks. But it wasn't just the Islamic
terrorists who were involved, many say that there were many other Arab nations involved in some way, such as the
planning and details. The location of the attacks were skillfully thought out. Each hijacked pilot had a mission to
complete. A plan to do major damage in one of the most tratisofic way. The World Trade Center had almost 50,000
people who worked there. That is a huge target to get people's attention. Alot of the job positions that were filled at the
World Trade Center or also known as Twin Towers, had to deal with trade. Even trade to other countries and nations.
Which is another reason why this target was most likely picked. Not only was the Twin Towers a chosen target but

The Bombing Of September 11th 2001
Where were you on the morning of September 11th 2001? Most people over the age 20 can tell you exactly where
they were and what they were doing when they found out about the events that occurred that historic September day.
I, for example, was in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on a United States Naval Ship. The goal of the terrorist attacks
may have been to break Americas resolve, however, the attacks actually united the American people. The attacks that
occurred on September 11th 2001 killed 2,843 people including those on the airplanes, in the towers, in the Pentagon,
police officers, firefighters, paramedics and bystanders in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.1 The events
that occurred on September 11, 2001, affected many people in the United States and abroad, and began the War on

September 11th
The event that happened on the 11th of September were a series of four coordinated terrorists attacks by the Islamic
terrorist group al– Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden, on the United States on the morning of Tuesday September 11, 2001.
19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al–Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide
attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in
New York City, The Twin Towers. A third plane hit the Pentagon right outside of Washington D.C. The fourth plane
crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. As referred to as 9/11, these attacks resulted in extensive death and very bad
destruction triggering major U.S initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over
3,000 people were killed during the attack in New York City alone including the Hijackers. This incident that
happened on September 11th changed the life for everybody, and it changed the way of life for Americans. 9/11 made

The attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001 were the direct result of the failure of US agencies, ranging
from the White House to airport security, to recognize vulnerabilities present in the various symptoms. The reason
why these vulnerabilities were not acknowledged and repaired is that these various agencies were trapped in a
cognitive dissonance cycle of thinking. After the Cold War, terrorism was seen as a regional problem (9/11
Commission, 92). The majority of terrorist groups were either groups sponsored by governments or militants trying to
create governments (i.e. Palestine Liberation Organization). As a result, the tactics used for fighting terrorism were

1) A person could change his behavior (Larson, 30): the man mentioned above could stop eating hamburgers. 2) A
change in environment could occur (Larson, 30): the man could start eating fat free hamburgers. 3) More consistent
beliefs (some might call them rationalizations) could be added to the a person's cognitive system (Larson, 30); the
man can tell himself that he is on the Atkins' diet and eating the hamburgers will allow him to lose weight and
therefore be more healthy (not the correct conclusion to draw from the information, but one which fits the man's
logic).
The effects of dissonance can change the way in which a person gathers information. A person could develop a
selective attention span where he only pays attention to material that reinforces his accepted cognitive system.
Interpretation of all material could also be skewed to fit that person's set of beliefs, creating a selective interpretation
system (Larson, 31). When these methods are applied to the subject of foreign policy, the negative effects are obvious.
For example, leaders could hold on to a belief system that is no longer valid. In the 1980s, the US viewed the USSR
military power as threatening even though they were powerless. (Larson, 32) As a result, the government wasted
millions of dollars on the Star Wars ballistic missile defense program that could have been

September 11 Remember Analysis
I chose to compare the short story by Hunter S. Thompson "Fear & Loathing in America" to Newsweek's :"Letters:
September 11 Remembered." The first is Hunter S. Thompson's short story which is based on the real event, he talks
about what the typical American is feeling about the attack and the thoughts going through their mind while the
Newsweek article is a collection of many people's thoughts and attitudes towards the event just 1 year later. I felt these
two would be a good comparison as we can compare the short story writer's feelings about the events to the feelings
of Americans who were asked what they're thoughts of the 1 year memorial of 9–11 were. The author described
feelings of anger when he mentions that "If the guilty won't hold up their hands and confess, he and the Generals will
ferret them out by force." (Thompson, H. 2001) And also feelings of confusion when mentioning how after 24 hours
"and we are not getting much information about the Five Ws of this thing." (Thompson, H. 2001) Reading the story
really helps you understand great mix of feelings that people experienced then and how traumatic it was. It does all
this using some story telling mechanisms, how does this stack up to what real people actually felt?
A year after September 11th, 2001 Newsweek published an article that contained a lot of mini–interviews asking
regular people what they were feeling about the current memorial and situation and the event as a whole. In a sense I
feel the author for the short story caught the spirit of the reactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

One Day In September
Terrorism is a highly regarded issue in the Middle East. Israel is the victim of this conflict. The movie One Day in
September shows how Palestinian terrorist group held Israeli athletes captive during the 1972 Olympic games. I was
unaware this occurred in history as the film is a documentary. The film I believe did a great job reenacting the events.
It used actual pictures, videos, and even had people who were involved speak. The film also changed my
understanding drastically. While staying at the hotel, members of the Palestinian Terrorist group known as Black
September jumped over a wall and intruded where the Israeli athletes stayed. Some were able to escape, a couple were
killed, and others were held hostage. After news spread, the terrorists put out a list of demands in order to free the
athletes. The Germans order a meeting to be set up at the airport where a trap was set. It was no surprise the terrorists
were aware and in the end some of them were caught and multiple aircrafts were blown to pieces. I believe that this
plan should have been more effectively established. First the snipers at the airport didn't know there were 8 terrorists.
Second, the snipers did a poor job of executing gunfire as friendlies were in their way. One Day in September made
me truly feel empathetic for the Israeli athletes. It is very uncomfortable knowing that your life is in danger. And if

The Attack On September 11

  • 1. The Attack On September 11 The attack on September 11, 2001 is defined as a group of Islamic terrorist who are believed to be members of the al– Qaeda, attacking the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, also known as the Twin Towers, by hijacking four commercial airlines. Only three of the four attacks succeed. This is considered a terrorist attack to most of us. From this incident we can define terrorism as a well–planned violent attack that targets innocent people to send a political message by planting fear not just to the country or government but also to civilians. However, terrorism cannot and should not be easily defined in this way. The definition of terrorism defined above is defined in America's point of view and not al–Qaeda's perspective. If we put ourselves in al–Qaeda's shoes, our definition of terrorism is going to change. Al–Qaeda declared war to America because they felt that the Muslims were threatened by the U.S. as well as their freedom. It is not to be said that the actions of al–Qaeda should be justified, but we should try to understand them before making assumptions. Al–Qaeda dealt with their situation to extreme by planning massive attacks but it could be considered as a method of protection instead of a terrorist attack. The most unexpected horrifying day in the United States can be said to be the terrorism attack of September 11, 2001 which killed approximately 3,000 and injured almost 10,000 people. As most already know, the attack was carried by 19 Islamic terrorist from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. September 11, 2001: Conspiracy or Not? September 11, 2001: Conspiracy or Not? What if everything one was supposed to believe was wrong? What if the people who are supposed to protect citizens from danger, do not? What if 9/11, the most tragic day in American history, was caused by the people we are supposed to respect and we are supposed and to believe, our government? Could our government have masterminded this horrific crime? Actually, I believe they did. In August 1997, on the front cover of FEMA's, The Federal Emergency Management Agency, Emergency Response to Terrorism Manual it shows the World Trade Center towers in the cross hairs, sights used for aiming a gun or missile for accuracy, and then again in June 2000, the Department of Justice released a world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the street there were people screaming and running it was mass chaos. At this time you could see the media and firefighters everywhere. I got the hell out of there went home hugged my wife. I realized God had spared me that day. A lot of my friends and coworkers died that day. I'm truly sorry, sometimes I feel guilty that I didn't do my part to help but I was afraid for my life. A couple of my friends that made it from a bit higher up said it sounded like a bunch of explosions. I remember thinking after hearing from them and seeing the video footage what the heck happened? In my opinion it felt like a bomb (Jones). Hearing his story, it made me scratch my head and think. If this was planned was it really supposed to kill thousands of people like it did? The blame for this tragedy was placed on Osama Bin Laden, by the commission report. Then why does the Most Wanted poster listing Osama Bin Laden not list the September 11th attacks (Most Wanted)? When asked that question the FBI replied, "We have no hard evidence against Osama (Loose Change Final Cut)." Without hard evidence how can one claim that he was behind it? Again, no answer was given. Another glaring omission that the government has never addressed is why fully intact passports of the alleged hijackers we found blocks away from the crash site (Loose Change). If everything including the bodies from the plane caught ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Impacts Of September 11, 2001 The events of September 11, 2001 showed how forms of transportation can be used to cause catastrophic destruction. Not only was this mode of transportation used to kill all of the passengers onboard the aircrafts, but the two planes that hit the World Trade Centers and the plane that hit the Pentagon killed many people inside the buildings. Terrorist attacks via mass transit poses a simpler and greater threat. Millions of people within the U.S. use mass transit every day to save money and time, among other reasons (American Public Transportation Association, n.d.). Unlike airports, where heavy security measures are in place, mass transit sources have very little to no security. Since 9/11 there has been a push for increased intelligence sharing ... People going to work and kids going to school, until a plane crash into the south twin towers. Shock break out in New York, flames go everywhere. The fourth plane was going for the White House but crashed in a near–by field. This attack on America was made by the al–Qaeda a terrorist group.Panic aroused in America. This had a major impact on how airport system work today. They locked down on security blaming the airport for the losses of innocent people. People around america grown a fear of plane because ... • 9. Essay on September, the eleventh, 2001 "8:45 a.m.: A hijacked passenger jet, American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston, Massachusetts, crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center, tearing a gaping hole in the building and setting it afire. 9:03 a.m.: A second hijacked airliner, United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center and explodes. Both buildings are burning. 9:43 a.m.: American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon, sending up a huge plume of smoke. Evacuation begins immediately."(CNN.com). The terrorist carefully chose these targets because they knew it would send a certain message or meaning to the American government and it's people, as well other nations and their people. This idea has us believing than nothing is safe, and we can never really relax and enjoy our lives as we did before September 11, 2001. The goal of terrorism being met here once again. In America we place great value in our famous skylines of free standing structures. They show how advanced our country is economically. We can build giant stadiums such as The Raven's PSI Net in Baltimore for nothing more than a game. For Americans these buildings flex our muscles and show our might. However, many of these skyscrapers hold great function for American society within their walls. Some of these buildings are much more than just a big playground or strength prop, none more so than the World Trade Center in New York City. These towers were the places where 50,000 Americans and foreign nationals came to work each day. This made it an ideal target for the terrorists, because they destroyed a symbol of American work ethic and pride and murdered thousands with an unbelievably wicked one two punch. They also wanted to cut the throat of our economy by instantly erasing 50,000 jobs and putting the American routine on hold indefinitely. The trickle down affect has been overwhelming, bringing the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries to their knees. The towers are gone forever, replaced with fear of the unknown and a state of paranoia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Health Effects Of The September 11 everywhere possible including the areas of homeland security, national defense, and in the private sector. Tourism in New York City plummeted affected the attacks. This caused a massive loss in a sector which employed 280,000 people and generated $25 billion per year. Hotel occupancy fell below 40% and 3,000 employees were laid off in the week following the attacks. (Wiki– Economics, History.com) Health effects of the September 11, 2001 attacks were almost non–existent at first, but years and years of study showed that people who worked around the debris from long periods of time are much more likely to develop PTSD. Some heart conditions and respiratory disease have been linked to the September 11, 2001 attacks, but nothing has been proven. Some mental illness exists as a result of the attacks, but 80% of the mental illness was caused from being hit in the head with debris or from actually falling with the tower. (NYC Health) As a result of the September 11, 2001 attacks we invaded Afghanistan and started a war with Iraq as well. These wars affected the culture of our nation greatly! Families were split as loved ones were lost in that war. Roughly 3.1 million Americans entered military service between 2001 and 2011. Nearly 2 million soldiers were deployed in that time and more than 6,000 American troops were killed. Roughly 44,000 were wounded. Of the wounded, more than 18 percent of the wounded developed post–traumatic stress disorder or depression and almost 20 percent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. September 11th 2001 Essay September 11th, 2001. Several planes were hijacked on their way from the East Coast of the U.S.A. to California. Two of the four, American Airlines flight 11 and 175 collided with each of the twin towers respectively. Flight 77 hit the west side of the Pentagon, leading to the collapse of the immediate area and United Airlines flight 93 crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after a power struggle on the aircraft. A total of 2,996 people were killed that day, including the passengers and crew aboard the aircraft, along with the 19 terrorists. The attacks sent the whole world into mourning, with numerous memorials being erected and the day being nationalised as a public holiday. This is where agencies such as the CIA and NSA have been ignoring peoples rights, and invading their privacy by spying on them and stealing their data. An prime example of this is the PRISM Surveillance program, of which the details where leaked to the Washington post and The Guardian by whistle blower Eduard Snowden. The program collects user collects e–mail, voice, text and video chats of foreigners and an unknown number of Americans from Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Apple and other tech giants. The program was present in a dozen other countries including New Zealand and Australia, collecting data illegally from its citizens as well and thus the issue spreads from its U.S. foundations. The right to privacy is something every human on the planet has, but the NSA and numerous other nefarious agencies choose to ignore this and continue to snoop on citizens, checking their every digital footprint. It also gives the government an unprecedented amount of power and control, which history has taught us, can easily lead into greed and lust corrupting the government and country This loss of privacy is very ironic in a society based around freedom and choice, but is also illegal and morally, yet no consequences have been dished out to the guilty ... • 15. The Attacks on September 11th 2001 September 11th of 2001 is a day in history that will be remembered forever. What was first thought to be a freak accident turned into a horrific nightmare for our country, America was under attack. On the morning of the attacks a group of al Qaeda terrorists took control of four commercial jetliners headed to California and purposively crashed two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The last plane fell into a Pennsylvania field never reaching its final destination, The White House. These attacks on the United States were formulated by the Islamic culture that has been planning this for many years. Shortly after these Twin Towers fell, the United States started mourning for the loss of those citizens killed in the violent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nearly thirty minutes after the terrorists launched their take over, the passengers charged the cockpit door. The hijackers attempted knocking the passengers off balance by pitching the nose of the airplane up and down. The passengers did not give up; they continued their assault until the hijacker knew they were about to break through. The flight was going over Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the pilot decided to aim the airplane going 580 miles per hour into an abandoned field only about twenty minutes from its original target, Washington, D.C. where they planned on attacking the White House (CNN). After the attack all that was left was death and wreckage. Shortly after the demolition many engineers, contractors, ironworkers and rescue workers went to help the police and firefighters with volunteer work to help the victims. All of these people were very concerned with recovering any survivors that were trapped within the soldering wreckage. Large pieces of iron that fell from the wreckage needed to be moved from the scene and required larger machines to do so. Over 108 thousand trucks were used to transport materials to multiple facilities so that the wreckage can be investigated to help decipher human remains and physical evidence of the hijackers and their planes. • 17. The September 11, 2001 Attacks The September 11, 2001 attacks were a series of four terrorist attacks. These attacks were launched by the Islamic terrorist group al–Queda. But let me start from the beginning. On September 11, 2001 starting at 8:46 a.m. ending at 10:28 a.m. in New York City and Washington D.C. terrorist by the Islamic group al–Queda four passenger airliners were hijacked. This was done by the 19 al–Queda terrorists so they could be flown into buildings in suicide attacks. Two of these planes, from Americana Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South towers, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Within two hours, both towers collapsed with a lot of debri and the fires caused a lot of buildings to collapse in the WTC. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon which is the headquarters of the United Sates Department of Defense. The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was targeted at D.C., But crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after its passengers tried to overcome the hijackers. In all 3,000 people died in the attacks. Which included the 227 civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes. The event was also the deadliest incident for firefighters and for law enforcement officers in the history of the United States. With 343 and 72 killed. The state quickly suspected al– Queda. • 19. The Senseless Tragedy Of September 11 The immoral tragedy that overwhelmed our nation phiscally and emotionally on September 11 has shocked a numerous amount of Americans. The images of the massacre that traveled all around the world just proved how helpless the world is to terrorism. However that shock turned into rage, fuming anger very quick. A threating mix of emotions began to settle across America when a hijacked airliner crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. During that early morning American Airlines flight 11 just moments earlier crashed into the North Tower. I was in first grade at the time in school and when they told us what was happening I didn't really understand until I saw my teacher crying. Then at 9:05 am, about twenty minutes after the first collision, United Airlines flight 175 crashed into the South Tower. All I remember was my mom picking me up from school immediately with sorrow tears running down her cheeks. Turning on the television was just a nightmare. Every single one of the news stations repeatedly showed the buildings collapsing to the ground. I felt a great amount of grief for the families of there loved ones that sadly did not make it out alive. They had to relive that terrible moment over and over again. How could such an awful act be committed on this beautiful place we live on? All we can do, is look at the terrorists who could obligate this depressing act and what possible reasons they have for doing it and why they would think to do such a thing. Many researchers ... There are many topics that are rather easy to delve in to. Throughout this essay, three of these literary techniques will be addressed and "delved into", so to speak. These techniques are: diction, figurative language and tone. Throughout the following essay several large ideas and the theme of this poem will also be addressed, including but not limited to the universality of the poem and the absolute obliteration of falsities and of false intimacy. Tony Morrison has created a complex, captivating piece of literary art that can be viewed and be interpreted in many different ways, with each individual person who examines it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, that depends on where the dead are, which depending on your beliefs they can be just about anywhere, or everywhere. The harsh words "no words stronger than the steel that pressed you into itself" could be considered a metaphor between the worthiness and strength of words compared to the dead and that the dead are DEAD. There are no words that have the power to bring them back. The quote "No scripture older or more elegant than the ancient atoms you have become" could possibly be referring to how all the atoms in our body are recycled and ancient and that after our death, after our soul escapes our body, our body returns to being merely ancient atoms and when the soul is gone, no words can bring them back into the body, none can "reanimate" the ancient atoms until they are recycled into new living beings. The last technique or literary device is tone. The tone portrayed through this speaker is rather confusing. There are determined, frustrated and harsh aspects along with sad, useless and bittersweet emotions portrayed throughout this poem. The speaker was determined to speak to the dead, in a pure fashion, yet because of human nature, this is virtually impossible, which made the speaker frustrated. The tone was harsh because of some of the diction throughout. Yet, the tone saddened when the speaker said "and I have nothing to give you". It made the tone come out as feeling useless and regretful. Finally, in the last bit, the tone was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, Americans have become more aware of how and where to engage in the world. As a result of the attacks, the US now has a defense that totals to nearly half the global total and has military dominance over scene, air, and space. • 25. Remembering September 11, 2001 September 11, 2001 is a date in history that changed the lives of people from all over the world and especially the lives of Americans. On this day nineteen militant men associated with al–Qaeda, an Islamic extremist group, hijacked four airplanes and carried out multiple suicide attacks on different locations in the United States. Two of the planes directly struck the World Trade Center located in New York City, one of the other two planes hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the final plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could reach its final destination. On this day, more than 3,000 people were killed including over 400 first responding police officers and firefighters. In recent years as people look back on that day it is remembered as a time when the country was joined together by grief and showed an overwhelming amount of comfort and support to the victims and their families; it was also a time of extreme national pride. People also remember that following the attacks the economy suffered tremendously, in addition, air traffic which makes up a portion of the economy was greatly disrupted, both of which created uncertainty about the security of the financial markets critical to the success of the United States. What most people do not remember is the immediate backlash and hostility the Muslim and Arab communities received following the attacks by both civilians and the media. For the building to meet the Port Authority's requirement of ten million square feet of office space the building would have to be 110 stories, however to build a structure that tall using existing elevators systems would not be feasible as elevators would take up all the space inside the building making it uneconomic. Yamasaki and his team devised a new system that had express elevators running the length of the building and only stopping at floor that were called sky lobbies, from which local elevators would connect to each floor. The buildings were constructed using framed tube structures, an external lattice of steel that formed a tube around a internal lattice tube core. This lattice tube structure allowed the building to overcome the lateral forces induced on the building by the extreme wind in the area. The construction of this building also used a range of other innovative techniques such as wind tunnel tests and slurry walls. By this, he meant that they decided to demolish the tower. But this news is shocking because controlled demolition of that accuracy and safety requires months of planning. Skyscrapers are the most iconic symbol of the city and are amazing landscapes created by humans who reach the clouds and ignore gravity. It implements human aspirations that we want to build a much higher level of buildings. There is no doubt that constructing tall buildings is not something new. The most important things while raising buildings higher are its structural design and life safety for people living or working inside the buildings. Today, as the building is touching to the sky, occupants of buildings are worried more and more about how safe the building is. The major concerns regarding tall building are unplanned fire and terrorist attack. The 43rd president George W. Bush quoted in results to 9/11, "Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve". As prospective engineers look to the future, we have the opportunity to learn the very lesson by understanding the collapse of the WTC Towers. In the years 9/11, the time after has arisen to learn and improve the design of future tall buildings against fire–induced collapse. The building we build inspires us and reflects on who we are. September 11th, 2001, will forever go down in history, as one of the most tragic disasters to hit the United States of America. It was a heartbreak for all of us to see those towers fall and thousands upon thousands of American lives destroyed. The events of that day are surely going to be remembered for the brutal truth and will always remind us of the hate that we as humans can create. On 9/11, America experienced a major terrorist attack, which hijacked planes were crashed into the World Trade Centers in New York City, crashed into the Pentagon in the District of Columbia, and had a plane crash into the fields of Pennsylvania. There are many theories on what actually happened and who was involved in the 9/11 attack. The most common word is that Islamic terrorists were the main group involved. It is also said that these terrorists were financed by Osama bin Laden's al– Qaeda terrorist organization. Which is why he was such a wanted man after the attacks. But it wasn't just the Islamic terrorists who were involved, many say that there were many other Arab nations involved in some way, such as the planning and details. The location of the attacks were skillfully thought out. Each hijacked pilot had a mission to complete. A plan to do major damage in one of the most tratisofic way. The World Trade Center had almost 50,000 people who worked there. That is a huge target to get people's attention. • 61. September 11 Short Story On, the morning of september 11, something terrible happened. People went to work in New York as they usually did. My job was in the world trade center. I arrived a little late to a meeting, and i thought it would be my biggest problem. Boy, was i wrong. All I remember was a big bang that sounded like an explosion and i was in a room filled with smoke. It was hard to breathe, i was looking for the stairs. I found a door with the stairs, it was jammed, so I had to break the door. Fast enough, I saw a ton of debris blocking the stairs, burning in a big fire. I went to the door and fully broke it, and started shoveling the debris with the door. I started to run down the stairs with fear but, i tripped and hurt my ankle really bad. Now, i was ... • 65. September Eleventh Essay The attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001 were the direct result of the failure of US agencies, ranging from the White House to airport security, to recognize vulnerabilities present in the various symptoms. The reason why these vulnerabilities were not acknowledged and repaired is that these various agencies were trapped in a cognitive dissonance cycle of thinking. After the Cold War, terrorism was seen as a regional problem (9/11 Commission, 92). The majority of terrorist groups were either groups sponsored by governments or militants trying to create governments (i.e. Palestine Liberation Organization). As a result, the tactics used for fighting terrorism were centralized mostly in the Middle East and were restricted to ... The effects of dissonance can change the way in which a person gathers information. A person could develop a selective attention span where he only pays attention to material that reinforces his accepted cognitive system. Interpretation of all material could also be skewed to fit that person's set of beliefs, creating a selective interpretation system (Larson, 31). When these methods are applied to the subject of foreign policy, the negative effects are obvious. For example, leaders could hold on to a belief system that is no longer valid. In the 1980s, the US viewed the USSR military power as threatening even though they were powerless. • 69. September 11 Remember Analysis I chose to compare the short story by Hunter S. Thompson "Fear & Loathing in America" to Newsweek's :"Letters: September 11 Remembered." The first is Hunter S. Thompson's short story which is based on the real event, he talks about what the typical American is feeling about the attack and the thoughts going through their mind while the Newsweek article is a collection of many people's thoughts and attitudes towards the event just 1 year later. I felt these two would be a good comparison as we can compare the short story writer's feelings about the events to the feelings of Americans who were asked what they're thoughts of the 1 year memorial of 9–11 were. The author described feelings of anger when he mentions that "If the guilty won't hold up their hands and confess, he and the Generals will ferret them out by force." (Thompson, H. 2001) And also feelings of confusion when mentioning how after 24 hours "and we are not getting much information about the Five Ws of this thing." (Thompson, H. 2001) Reading the story really helps you understand great mix of feelings that people experienced then and how traumatic it was. It does all this using some story telling mechanisms, how does this stack up to what real people actually felt? A year after September 11th, 2001 Newsweek published an article that contained a lot of mini–interviews asking regular people what they were feeling about the current memorial and situation and the event as a whole. In a sense I feel the author for the short story caught the spirit of the reactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thompson (December 2001). "Fear & Loathing in America." • 74. One Day In September Terrorism is a highly regarded issue in the Middle East. Israel is the victim of this conflict. The movie One Day in September shows how Palestinian terrorist group held Israeli athletes captive during the 1972 Olympic games. I was unaware this occurred in history as the film is a documentary. The film I believe did a great job reenacting the events. It used actual pictures, videos, and even had people who were involved speak. The film also changed my understanding drastically. While staying at the hotel, members of the Palestinian Terrorist group known as Black September jumped over a wall and intruded where the Israeli athletes stayed. Some were able to escape, a couple were killed, and others were held hostage. After news spread, the terrorists put out a list of demands in order to free the athletes. The Germans order a meeting to be set up at the airport where a trap was set. It was no surprise the terrorists were aware and in the end some of them were caught and multiple aircrafts were blown to pieces. I believe that this plan should have been more effectively established. First the snipers at the airport didn't know there were 8 terrorists. Second, the snipers did a poor job of executing gunfire as friendlies were in their way. One Day in September made me truly feel empathetic for the Israeli athletes. It is very uncomfortable knowing that your life is in danger. And if you are to make one move you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The September Eleven attacks effected the United States and the world through the strengthened the outlook of the United States citizens had to patriotism but also the damage done to America's economic system as well as the change of view in specific ethnicities and religions. The immediate impacts of the September 11 were the greater focus on home life and time spent with family, higher church attendance, and especially the increased expressions of patriotism such as the flying of American flags. The poster created by Karen Simon, titled Rise Above created in November 2001 is an example of the upsurge of patriotism and the objective of bring people together after the tragedy. The poster has the composition of the American flag with solid lines of white as the Twin Towers above a red outline of New York City. • 78. The Events Of September 11th One of the most controversial events ever to occur is still being talked about to this day. September 11th, 2001 will forever go down in history as one of the most tragic disasters to hit the United States of America. It was heartbreak for all of us to see those towers fall and thousands upon thousands of American lives destroyed. One might ask themselves; didn't everything get explained a little too quickly? Why did everyone so quickly forget the details to this tragedy? The events of September 11th, 2001 are surely going to be remembered for its brutal truth and will always remind us of the hate that we as humans can create. The events of September 11th happened so fast that lots of details were overlooked but now, six years later one can finally take a breath and really look into what happened. The inevitable outcome is simply that George W. Bush and his government secretly put together the events of September 11th to rally the support of the U.S. citizens on many issues. This is such a strong accusation to make but a little common sense and evidence can quickly refute that our president is anything but a human being. What really happened to the World Trade Center on September 11th? One of the most confusing things about the tragedy of September 11th is the collapsing of the World Trade Center's. The World Trade Center's collapse in such a short amount of time that any human with simple common sense would raise an eyebrow as to why. How many buildings in our history ...
