Evidence For Food Dependency And Addiction
Evidence for Food Dependency/Addiction
Flora is feeling hungry, but she just ate. She walks around trying to forget about the urge to pick up
a donut or a random snack from the cupboard. Flora can't get the food out of her mind. She feels
like the food is calling her from the kitchen saying, "Eat me, eat me!" Flora gets up and makes her
way to the food. She picks up granola bar, and opens it. The granola bar tastes wonderful and she is
content, but then the bar was gone, and a few minutes later she wants another. She feels like she
can't stop eating even after she has eaten a meal. Flora asks why she can't stop eating. She wonders
if she could be addicted, so she turns to the computer and she looks up food addiction. Flora finds

One teaspoon of sugar is equal to 4 grams. That means in one can there are 44 grams of sugar. If a
can of soda is consumed by a child everyday, that child would be consuming 132 grams of sugar in
just one week (Jeffrey). This is an alarming statistic about the common hyperpalatable foods that
Americans eat everyday, and what these foods can contain. Some more examples of hyperpalatable
foods are granola bars, breads, and donuts (Jeffrey L. Fortuna Dr.p.H). The amount of sugar that
was in the can of soda and compare that to the results of the rat experiment. The results say there
were neural changes of elevated self–stimulation, striatal D2 dopamine receptors lowered, and a
dopamine decrease (Ziauddeen). Dopamine or otherwise known as DA D2 is a neurotransmitter or a
chemical. This chemical transmits signals in the brain between nerve cells or neurons. When
something happy happens unexpectedly in a person 's life, neurons activate and transmit very few
make dopamine. This means in order to feel happy, addicts need the dopamine that is released
("What is dopamine"). This compared to a methamphetamine user experiment, "Methamphetamine
abusers had a significantly lower level of D2 receptor availability than comparison subjects... D2
receptor availability was associated with metabolic rate in the orbitofrontal cortex in abusers and in
comparison subjects," (Volkow). In addition using drugs like meth or more commonly cocain over
time the brain produces less

Observation And Loss Analysis: Cub Food
Cub Foods is an enormous supermarket chain store offering a wide variety of products and 24 hour
a day service. Having grown–up in the smaller town of Red Wing, MN, Econofoods and more
recently, Walmart were the only choices for purchasing food items. Therefore, I was overwhelmed
with the variety of brands and choices offered in every department at Cub. In addition, I was
shocked at the significantly lower prices offered at this supermarket. For example, Nature Valley
Oats and Honey granola bars cost $3.49 at Cub Foods and the price soars to $4.98 at Red Wing's
Econofoods. I was drawn to this section because of their neat stacks located at the end of the
"Breakfast" isle which also contained cereal, oatmeal, and other items typical associated with
breakfast. My involvement in collegiate level athletics at St. Olaf means I often need a quick snack
before or after practice in order to maintain my energy level. Granola bars have been my favorite
snack to fulfill this need. This nutrition course made me question whether I have made a good
decision consuming a granola bar on a daily basis and if I should consider other energy ... Show

Interestingly, in every single product, the "Calories per serving" listed on the packaging was lower
than the total calories I calculated based on the number of grams of fat, carbohydrates and protein in
each item. For my calculation, I multiplied the grams of fat x 9 kcal/g, the grams of carbohydrate x
4kcal/g, and the grams protein x 4kcal/g, then added these amounts to derive the total number of
calories in each product. The largest discrepancy between the manufacturer and my calculation was
for the Clif bar, which reported the calorie count at 250 kcal, but was calculated at 265

Latin Strange Symbols
Latin, strange symbols, ancient chronicles of events I didn't recognize. They swam around my head
and faded as quickly as they had appeared. It all came back to me, slow and hazy; researching a
dead language, thinking one symbol looked familiar, my thoughts roaming to the graffiti on the wall
of an abandoned lumberyard where a vamp nest we were hunting had settled down. My mind kept
wandering to irrelevant memories until it all blurred together and everything just faded into black.
I didn't dream of anything noteworthy. I never did. More nightmares than dreams, but if I got lucky I
didn't see anything but black until I woke.

something out of librarians nightmare. My only course of action was to hide the sucker in some
random shelf corner and hope it's never opened again, and that's exactly what I did. After throwing
the granola wrappers and coffee cups away, I put the jacket back on just in time to avoid whoever
was stomping towards the library, witnessing me destroying all evidence of my nap induced crime.
The sound of heavy work boots echoed from the hall. It was unmistakable and a small smile broke
through my half–asleep fog.
A figure popped up on the edge of my vision, making its way across the room, messing with the
record player in the corner of the library. The sound of an old bass guitar and the artists raspy
southern accent replaced the smooth jazz that filled the room moments before. He pushed the small
towel on his head, back onto his shoulders, running his hands through his damp hair.
"Morning, sleeping beauty. Did you dream about me" he smirked over his shoulder, the corner of his
eyes crinkling slightly. My mood brightened at his friendly teasing. "You wish. Do you know where

Paleoization Of Food
How to Paleoize Your Favorite Foods
Just because you are choosing to switch to a paleo lifestyle doesn't mean you have to give up a love
for food. Food translates to so much more than eating for survival; food is both comfort and joy.
You don't have to give up any of the happiness you find in food to go paleo. To go paleo and keep
the comfort, you just need to learn how to Paleoize all of your favorite foods!
Potatoes
Potatoes are a definite no on a paleo diet; but sweet potatoes are still in! Nearly any recipe that calls
for potatoes can easily be replaced with sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes can be just as comforting as
a mash or even in a stew or hash. They also lend themselves well to naturally sweetening breads and
other baked goods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are legumes, which are strongly not paleo. However, replacing peanut butter in your diet is
extremely simple. Both almond butter and cashew butter are great healthy paleo options. They can
both can easily be substituted in place of peanut butter in any recipe and you can make them at
home in just a few quick steps.
Eggs
Next to meet and vegetables, eggs are an essential part of the paleo diet. The key to eating eggs on
the paleo diet is simple, you need to purchase free range eggs. Or if you are up to it raising your
own free range chickens.
Conventional Beef
While purchasing meat may seem as simple as a quick trip to the grocery store. But the truth of the
matter is, unless you are purchasing grass fed beef, it has most likely been subject to growth
hormones, antibiotics, and haven't been grass fed. Finding grass fed beef shouldn't be as hard as you
would think but it will take some work. You should also consider that it may look different, as in it
won't be pumped full of red die to make it appear more "appealing", like in the grocery store.
Flour
Flour is surprisingly one of the easiest foods to replace on the paleo diet! Between coconut flour,
almond flour (almond meal), aarow root powder, and tapioca powder, you can replace flower in just
about any recipe you like!

The Magic Lake : A Description Of A Magical Lake
Magical Lake
In the cold, dark and mysterious forest is where she lived. Vanessa is teenager whose summer is
almost ending. She is an only child and her father is always somewhere out of the Country for work
purposes.
"Mom, when is dad coming home from France it has felt like forever." Her mother is a stay home
mom who loves baking when Vanessa is at school or work. "He should be coming home in about a
week or two."
She was a girl who liked adventure and exploring but she never got to go past the fence in her
backyard which is mostly a forest. Today was a great day for exploring. She decided that it had been
a long time since she has gone into the forest. But when she headed out she forgot to get her
adventure bag. She got the adventure bag from her dad on her tenth birthday. It contains a flashlight,
water bottle, compass, a blanket, and two granola bars if she get lost or hungry and thirsty. She
decided to go on without it because her mother might ask questions and tell her to stay inside
because it's cold and almost time for dinner. When she reached the fence she found a narrow path
which was hidden behind these two redwood trees. She took the path hoping to find something neat
or interesting and indeed she did. In the distance she saw a misty small lake. When she finally
reached the lake she noticed that it was clean and very clearer than the river by her house. On the
side of the lake she found a small beach where the sand's texture was so smooth it felt good

Healthy Moms
It is most important that women who are pregnant eat a nutritious diet full of vitamins and nutrients
for her health as well as for the health of her baby. The development of her baby can depend greatly
on the amount of proper nutrients that she consumes on a daily basis. It can be difficult for busy
women who are pregnant to eat health when they are always on the go. Below is a list of healthy
snacks for moms–to–be. This can be helpful for those who do not have enough time to prepare
healthy snacks all day.
Healthy Dry Cereal – Dry cereal can be satisfying and filling for many women who enjoy snacks on
the go. They can fit into a Ziploc baggie or in an airtight contain for easy access. These types of
cereals contain healthy fiber and other nutrients including folic acid. Try staying away from the

The granola found in these bars are a healthy treat, and they usually have some sort of tasty sweet
treat inside such as peanut butter or chocolate. It is important to choose whole grain granola bars to
provide healthy snacks for moms–to–be.
Nuts – Packing a baggie full of nuts can be a great way to get minerals like magnesium and
potassium on the go. When looking for healthy snacks for moms–to–be, this should top the list.
Popcorn – This can be a great way to get a quick snack in at the office. This snack is traditionally
low in calories as long as it is not slathered with butter.
Choosing healthy snacks for mothers–to–be is important for many women who are on the go. Eating
right is essential to maintain a healthy pregnancy. The growth and development of the baby depends
on the nutrients that the mother–to–be consumes. Along with taking a prenatal vitamin daily, a
pregnant woman should be eating a balanced diet full of all the major nutrients. When in doubt, it
can be a good idea to check with the doctor to ask for a few suggestions on what to eat, and what
not to eat when

I Am Completely Honest : Being Sick With Strep Throat
To be completely honest, I had a hard time remembering and keeping a diary of every little thing I
do. I am a very busy person, considering I have a full time job, 2 part time jobs, and a full time
college student. I did make my best attempt at trying to see what all I ate and for physical activity
and my results are interesting. The first thing I would like to talk about would be the amount of
exercise. The total amount in a week was to have 150 minutes. Well within 3 days, I had over 900
minutes. I actually bet there was more than that, but that's all I could remember. That is also
including Wednesday me being sick with strep throat (as for this whole week actually.) It is kind of
crazy even though I was sick, I still managed to get 900 minutes in 3 days. For logged time on
Wednesday, I included a 35 minutes walk I take everyday with my dogs down the road. That is all I
did Wednesday as I said, I was very ill with strep throat, as well as for all week and as I am writing
this paper. Next is Thursday. Of course I took the usual 35 minute walk with my two pups. I was
farming most of the day, and I only put 200 minutes of vigorous activity when actually now thinking
of it probably was much more than that since we were unloading hay bales and I was feeding the
baby calves. If you have ever fed over 150 baby calves twice a day, it is very exhausting work. On
Friday I also did the daily 35 minute walk with the puppies. I did go to work on the farm for a little
while, but I sat

Descriptive Essay On Mountain-Climbing Adventure
I looked up at the morning sky painted in hues of purple and pink. The crisp air tickled at my nose. I
stood in front of the open passenger door of the truck while waiting for Jacob to give me further
instructions. I found Jacob on one of those mountain–climbing adventure websites. He had the
highest rating of all the Mountaineers featured.
"Here's your climbing pack, Reagan," said Jacob holding it out for me.
I took the climbing pack and placed my fleece blanket and windbreaker inside. My pack was
already filled with the necessary mountain–climbing gear, granola bars, thermos, and a first aid kit. I
grabbed my pocket–sized Bible from the passenger seat of the truck and tucked it into the side
pouch of my pack. Jacob pulled the last of the mountain–climbing equipment from the bed of the
truck and shut the tailgate. He looked up at me and smiled.
"Are you ready for this adventure?" he asked.
"I guess," I responded hesitantly.
"Let's get going. There is a short hike before we get to the base of the mountain."
Jacob led me up a trail following the edge of a brook. The rippling water carrying rocks flowing
downward along the trail's edge helped to calm my nerves. Still, the thought of climbing up the
steep rim of a mountain made my stomach weak.
"How far is it to the base?" I asked.
"This hike should take a little over an hour," he responded, "It is relatively smooth terrain."
As we trekked along the brook, I was inspired by the scenery. Hemlock and spruce bordered the
trail.

School Lunches Research Paper
Essentially, mainly everyone wants or seeks to be healthy. What is concerned to be healthy? Being
healthy is being physically and mentally in well–being and not possessing any health dieases. In
order to achieve healthiness one doesn't have to change their lifestyles dramatically, one can start out
with baby steps and then way their way up. Even the most miniature changes make a significant
difference in the human body. School lunches from my perspective only transport negative nutrients
in our bodies.Theoretically, school lunches in the U.S.resemble a fast food portion of food. It is
comparable as if one was eating any type of food serve in a fast food place, equivalenting the same
amount of calories. My critique is I consider school lunches to be poor in quality when it comes to
the nourishment of our bodies, leaving behind the vitamins and nutrients one needs in a meal. ...

started to wonder if she was his wife I heard him talking to the day before. What if she found out

"What did he do to you?" she asked with concern. I had told her the story of the night he abducted

"I had started to notice psychotic tendencies in Mike but I thought he was just overwhelmed with

Personal Narrative: Fall Colors
Fall, lovely fall, one of my favorite season, because it's not too hot and it's not too cold. I love the
colors of fall, and there's no place like Colorado to celebrate it. We recently decided to take a trip up
to the mountains to look at the beautiful Colorado Fall Colors. It's when the trees change colors and
you can see a sea of yellow, oranges and reds, or maybe just a sea of yellow as shown below. People
travel from far and wide just to witness our colors and I don't blame them, because it's beautiful!
You may notice that when fall comes around, we tend to eat more comfort foods, and one of those
comfort foods that I just love and my entire family also loves is Quaker Oats. I grew up eating
Quaker Oats and I remember my mother making oatmeal in the mornings for breakfast before I
headed off to school. In the Caribbean we would call it "porridge", and it was usually our go to
breakfast meal. It was filling and you know that you were getting a great meal. Now that I'm older

Alpen Light Advertising Essay
Dealing with the affects advertising starts with understanding how it works, what it does and how it
intends to influence you. While many take advertising for granted, it does seek to sway what you
spend your money on. It can be incredibly effective and powerful in promoting what you spend your
money on, while at the same time be negative for forcing ideals on to consumers.
Many products or brands seek to identify with a certain lifestyle. Consumers who associate
themselves with that lifestyle are more likely to be influenced into buying that product. Alpen Light

With advertising emphasizing what consumers can relate to on a daily basis, they also rely on brand
recognition. We are more willing to buy what is familiar. For generations people have been eating
quaker oats, it's a recognized and reliable brand. Consumers enjoy eating out of the same box they
did when they were kids. When Quaker Oats changed the appearance of their box, it could have
resulted in loss of revenue. A focus group stated that many like the old look but a modern
appearance could appear to more buyers. The brand placed on their box "New Look", informing the
buyer that the taste will never change. Many buyers may be put off by a "New Look", it takes away
that familiar feel that consumers look for in super markets. But a change in look could also entice
new consumers to try the product. While older generations prefer Quaker Oats, the younger
generations can always identify with eating Kellogg's Froot Loops. Kids in numerous countries
recognize the famous Toucan on the front of the box. The brand itself is even recognized throughout
many countries for their wide variety of products, making them a staple in the cereal aisle. These
common products rely on the consumer buying them based on habit. If a consumer has to decide
between two products they are more likely to chose something familiar. If you chose a product on

The Breakfast Cereal Industry Has Successful For Decades,...
Introduction
Breakfast cereal is one of the most popular forms of breakfast in the United States. Just about all of
us have had and enjoyed a bowl of cereal in the morning. The breakfast cereal industry is very
profitable and has been around a long time.
The NAICS code for this topic is 311320 and the SIC code is 2043 Cereal Breakfast Foods, The SIC
gives a description of establishments as primarily engaged in manufacturing cereal breakfast foods
and related preparations, except breakfast bars. Cereal breakfast foods include: coffee substitutes
made grain, hulled corn, farina, granola (except bars and clusters), hominy grits, infant cereal foods,
oatmeal, rolled oats, rice breakfast foods and wheat flakes.
History
The ready–to–eat (RTE) breakfast cereal industry has been very successful for decades, achieving
high returns and growth. By 1994, the US market alone has grown to $8 billion in sales, and 2.82
billion pounds in volume and In 2007, the market value for the industry was $11.2 billion. Despite
its high profitability, the industry has grown more concentrated over the years with very few and
mostly unsuccessful entry attempts. The breakfast cereal was first invented in 1863 by Dr. James
Caleb Jackson who made the granola. The granola was a hard wheat that had to soak overnight
before it could be eaten. Later the popular Corn Flakes was invented.
However, by 1994, the industry started to face new challenges, namely slower demand and gain in
market share by private

If this experiment were to be done again, some potential changes to be made would include using
multiple products instead of just granola bars. Only getting data from the one product isn't reliable
enough for many reasons. Based on research, granola bars were one of the trickiest products to use
because the taste between each brand was so similar and the outcomes were more random. Some
foods that were said to give accurate votes were Greek yogurt, soup, bagels, ranch dressing and
oatmeal. Since people were used in this experiment, many factors could've affected the outcome.
People may not have favored granola bars in any way, not liked the flavor, or didn't regularly eat the
product to know for sure which one they liked better. Many testers were on the fence when deciding
which they preferred, asking if they truly had to choose one and explaining how they tasted
identical. Using a variety of foods and products would eliminate that problem in the sense that
different foods may have more opposing flavors between brands. Another factor to be changed for a
future experiment would be the amount of people tested. Instead of testing 20 adults and 40
children, the amounts should be equal. Also, instead of just testing "adults", tracking the exact ages
of each adult would find any correlation with exact age and preference. Lastly, adding more time to
each test or giving more of a sample would increase reliability as

Most Scared Descriptive Writing
The Most Scared I've Ever Been...
It was about two weeks after school got out. It was just a run–of–the–mill kind of Sunday. I decided
to take my usual day–long naps that seemed to repeatedly happen during the weekend. Once I woke

I got halfway up the stairs I remembered that I had to go to work in an hour. I skidded to a stop and
barely stopped myself from plunging down the stairs that I had just ran up by gripping the handrail.

trauma of the moment and realizing that we were both okay, I look over to my sister who is holding
the steering wheel like a death grip. I tell her that it was going to be ok and that she needed to pull
off the road, so we found a clear spot to pull off to and then parked the now battered car. Using my
shaking hands I slowly grabbed my phone and after taking a long, deep breath I called my parents
and told them what happened. Not knowing what to do we waited for the cops and my parents to

short narrative essay (avalanche)
Lost but Not Forgotten
It was a cold night in January, when he awoke covered in snow, his board broken and hanging from
his left foot, the binding from his right still securely strapped to hit now numb, right foot It was now
nearing Zero degrees Fahrenheit he thought, and not a soul was anywhere to be found. Zane Farrell
had last seen another creature what he guessed was about six hours ago. As far as he knew he was
about thirty miles north of Bull Creek, at the local ski area– Bull Mountain.
Unsure of his exact location, cold and growing weary he started his tedious climb up what he
thought was the northern side of the peak, he was unsure how he got to where he was, but his best
guess was that when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a curse from the gods, he was sure he was going to die. By now he could feel the air forced
into him by the wall, it was upon him. He looked forward and saw something big, a tree, frozen, a
snow ghost. He hit it and was out, unconscious and at the whim of the towering wall of ice chasing
him.
After hiking for a while his head began to hurt and he felt the point and it was wet. He looked at his
hand in the moonlight, crimson, he was injured more than he had thought, he was not losing blood
fast but it was still enough to make him feel rather sick to his stomach. Along with that he was
hungry again and cold. Searching through his pack Zane found a cigarette lighter and a trail map,
"won't be needing this anymore he thought." He found some semi–dry wood under a huge cedar tree
took off his gloves and tried to make a fire. After many attempts to keep the flame light he finally
succeeded. Fumbling with numb fingers through his pack at last he found the sandwich bag he had
stashed in there that morning. Granola bars and one of the frozen power–ade drinks, he pulled them
out and set them next to the growing fire. After they thawed he ate and drank as if he had not eaten
in days. But he would need the energy for tomorrow. He dug a hole in the snow next to the fire and
slept, it was not warm, but it would do, he knew that he would be warmer under the

Compare And Contrast Research Paper
Both flax and chia seeds are nutrient dense oilseeds. Both have become popular in recent years with
flax seeds being the more widely known of the two. Both are excellent additions to your diet. Each
of them can provide you with a range of health benefits. If you want to pick one and are unable to
make up your mind, consider the comparison below. Do flax seeds and chia seeds differ in flavor?
Both golden flax and chia seeds have a mild nutty flavor but brown flax seeds have more intense
flavor. The flavor of chia seeds is considerably milder than that of either flax variety. If you are
looking for a strong flavor, flax is a better option. If you want a milder flavor, chia is better. Note
that the flavor of flax seeds increases once the seeds are ground. Can chia seeds be used in place of

Many people sprinkle them over the top for the extra crunch of flax or the smoothness that chia
seeds bring. If the more noticeable taste of flax seeds is a problem, simply replace them with the
milder flavor of chia seeds. If the smoothness of chia seeds is not your cup of tea, use flax seeds
instead. Granola Flax seeds are a popular addition to granola but whole chia seeds may be used
instead. Replace the specified amount of flax seeds with an equal amount of chia seeds. What type
of use cases best fit flax seeds and chia seeds? Flax seeds are popular for a variety of breakfast
foods, especially those that can benefit from added crunch. You can use flax seeds for granola. You
can also use them to add texture to yogurt or oatmeal. It is important to note that they must be
ground before use. Our bodies cannot digest whole flax seeds. Use chia seeds to improve the texture
of your smoothies. You can also make chia pudding by soaking the seeds fruit juice or almond milk
until they form a gel. Once the mixture is no longer watery, you can eat it like a

The Influence Of Writing
Okay, so clearly this kid has no idea what MLA format is. I don't get it. Did he even look at the
rubric? It's there for a reason. I stretched my arms out behind me and blinked my eyes hard, trying
to re–wet them. This assignment was turning into the bane of my existence, and I was only two
paragraphs deep. I had made a deal with myself, no more than four hours of grading on the
weekends. So much for that. I looked across my desk at the pen holder/old mug and grabbed a new
red pen. My current one was only half full of ink and this short story was going to need a novels
share of red. I started marking away, and soon the page was thoroughly doused in red ink. Capitalize

I pushed the paper to the side and reached into my top drawer for my bottle of Advil, eager to make
the throbbing in my temples subside. Don't take pills on an empty stomach. The last thing I needed
was nausea on top of everything. I pulled out my bottom desk drawer, the secret snack drawer, and
pushed the old chip bags and empty candy wrappers aside, searching for something to nibble on.
Yummy, a half–eaten granola bar and mystery Tupperware. I took my chances with the granola bar,
deciding against the food poisoning that would come with week contents of the mystery
Tupperware.
After cramming the stale granola bar into my mouth I pulled the wrinkled pages of the essay back in
front of me.
The throbbing in my head intensified with every poorly constructed sentence. At least it doesn't get
worse. The consistency is nice...consistently bad. I had to give the kid points for creativity. The
prompt had been to write a story with two of the characters; a mother and child. This was certainly
the most entertaining rendition. Every other story had been about an angst filled argument between a
mom and her teenage kid, but at least they had known which "to" to use.
I finished marking up the page and tallied up the score in accordance to the rubric I had provided.
The final grade came it a solid 63%, a failing grade. I thought back again to the creativity and effort

short term and long–term positive and negative effects of change in relation to the target behaviour.
These were all recorded in the beginning of the journal, which the individual referenced throughout

Analysis: Lemon Cheesecake Cannoli And Chicken Salsa
This week in lab, we completed the Iron Chef challenge. For this challenge, we had to create two
dishes using the secret ingredient–flour tortillas–and ingredients from a list as well as proteins. Our
curveball was that we had to use a food processor for one of our dishes. My group I made a Lemon
Cheesecake Cannoli and a Chicken Salsa. The cannoli filling consisted of cream cheese, lemon
pudding, lemon juice, and vanilla extract; the shell was made from a flour tortilla. It was topped off
with granola and powdered sugar. Some of the salsa ingredients were chicken, turkey bacon,
chipotle chilies in adobo sauce, chickpeas, tomatoes, onion, garlic, lime juice, and cheese. It was
served with homemade tortilla chips. For the first two days in the lab, Autumn and I focused on
making the cannoli while Tailhya and Emily focused on making the salsa. Prepping all the
ingredients took about 15 minutes. To the make the cannoli, we first mixed up the ingredients for the
filling in the food processor. This took about 20 minutes because the cream cheese made the filling
very thick, so we had to keep adding some amounts of lemon juice to soften it up. Frying the
cannoli shells only took about 5 minutes because the oil was very hot, so they cooked quickly. To

The Breakfast Cereal Industry Is The Most Popular Forms Of...
However, by 1994, the industry started to face new challenges, namely slower demand and gain in
market share by private labels.

Documentary Analysis: Fed Up
The documentary, Fed Up, features one of the U.S.'s most concerning health issues: obesity.
Obesity–related ailments, like diabetes and heart disease, have long been blamed on fat, which is a
misnomer that, along with other commonly–held notions, Fed Up links back to 1977's McGovern
Report, the first study of its kind. The report's findings sparked the reduced fat movement that has
persisted for decades since 1977. As a result, food manufacturers began adding sugar to compensate
for the loss of taste when fat is removed. As the film reveals, it is this added sugar that is the culprit
behind the obesity epidemic in the U.S. Fed Up discusses some of the myths surrounding healthy
eating, as well as the role and responsibility of so–called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Added sugar, as mentioned earlier, is the single worst ingredient in the modern diet and is credited
with ailments like obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease , and cancer. "Added sugar (and high
fructose corn syrup) is made of two simple sugars... glucose and fructose. One of the main reasons
sugar is harmful, is because of the fructose. Although some fructose from fruit is good, large
amounts from added sugar can have disastrous effects on health. For this reason... many people have
started trying to avoid fructose and have turned to fructose–free sweeteners instead. One of these is
Brown Rice Syrup (also called Rice Malt Syrup or simply Rice Syrup), which is essentially all made
of glucose. Glucose is also found in starchy foods like potatoes and is not considered as harmful for
metabolic health as fructose" (Brown Rice Syrup: Good or Bad, 2014). So, brown rice syrup is not
so bad, it seems. But what about invert cane syrup? Inverted sugar is made from a combination of
glucose and fructose and formed by splitting sucrose into these two components, giving a sweeter
taste and making it ideal for baking, is less likely to crystalize, and good for prolonging shelf life.
But it is still sugar, with all its "benefits," like diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay. The difference with
invert sugar is that there is a lack of guidelines regarding its use. "There's currently no acceptable
daily intake (ADI) set for invert sugar, so it's difficult to gauge what your exact limit should be" (Is
Invert Sugar Bad For You, n.d.). Xanthan gum, although it is a sugar–like compound, is used to
make medicine, as a thickening and stabilizing agent in foods, and in toothpaste, and is "safe when
up to 15 grams per day are taken..." (Xanthan gum...,

The Importance Of Love In My Life
When I was growing up I was always told to treat others with kindness and respect, no matter who
they were or how old they were. These are things that I have carried along with me throughout my
life so far. Over the years I have gained some new characteristics about me and lost some, that were
good and bad.
The things that I care most about in life is love for my friends, family and dog. They have allowed
me to be myself and have always tried to get me to remain as positive as I possibly can. My family
has been there for me throughout my entire life. They taught me the difference between right and
wrong. Being a big part of my life, they will always have a special place in my head and heart. As
for friends, I have developed new ones over the years, and lost some, but they have taught me things
about myself, that I did not know. For example, they have allowed me to step out of my comfort
zone, and try new things. I care about them, they play a very important role in my life, because they
have allowed me to realize who I am. The final thing that matters a lot to me in my life is my dog,
Wyatt. He has been apart of my life since I was very little. My dog never fails to make me smile,
and makes my days much better
Being a teenager, I also have many fears, stresses and things that weigh me down. These things
consist of spiders, asking for help and disappointing my family. The fear of spiders has been with
me since I was a toddler. The way they crawl around has never

Food Should Be Allowed In School Essay
Every high schooler has experienced having to clutch their rumbling stomach as they stare at the
clock all of class hoping their table partners do not hear, and discussing with a neighbor what is on
the lunch menu, rather than discussing about what they just learned in class. So, snacks should be
allowed in high school classes because high schoolers are respectful of the privilege, snacking all
day leads to health benefits, and food does not interfere negatively with learning. Students should be
able to bring snacks into their HS classrooms.
High Schoolers should be able to eat in the classroom because they would be respectful of that
privilege. The reason some teachers do not allow food in their classroom is that it could be messy.
High schoolers are old enough to know that they should choose a snack that will not make a mess,
and they have a responsibility to pick up their mess they leave behind. Some teachers also find
snacks to be a great distraction, but choosing a snack that will not be distracting to them or the
people around them is another responsibility that the students are able to handle. Also, teachers will
not have to constantly attempt to stop their hungry students. The teacher would not have to interrupt
class for a brief lecture every time someone pulls out a granola bar. One certified educator stated, "I
made this decision (of allowing food in the classroom) after my first semester, when I found that
focusing so much on nit–picky items such as whether

My Escape To Escape
I woke up on a cold, torn up mattress. I try to stand up, struggling since I was tied to the wall behind
me. My head was throbbing and my wrists and ankles burned from the rope. That's when I heard
you walking down the stairs. My heart was pounding out of my chest. You then slowly unlocked the
cage. For the first time I couldn't save myself. You leaned over me, you stunk of stale cigarettes and
booze. I knew I could survive the things you would do to me, I just didn't know if I could ever get
out. "Morning" you mumbled with a thick southern accent. I didn't answer you, but you seemed to
not care, I wanted you to care. You pulled out a granola bar from your pocket and gave me water, I
was scared because I knew you wouldn't do this if you didn't want me to live. My arms were finally
untied so I could eat. I watched you walk back up the stairs and you were talking to someone,
maybe you had a wife and kids. After I devour the granola bar, I layed back down.
I go to sleep trying to think of a plan on how to escape. I broke off a piece of wood from the small
table in the same room I was in, and sharpened it for the next time you would walk in to feed me. I

"Double Trouble" by the time I've finally reuploaded my re–written chapter one. I won't be writing
it all at once, so I won't be able to spit out a chapter every day like I could the first time, but at the
same time, I think that even if I could, I wouldn't. Maybe I'll get a few more views with this
hopefully better re–write. So for anyone who saw this story the first time, or who hasn't even heard
of me (more likely...), I hope you enjoy my first and best fanfiction ever, re–written to be a little
more capturing and accurate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He sat up and used his hand to shield the light from his eyes. Blinking and looking around, he was
greeted with a tackle from his partner, Patamon. "Morning, sunshine!" Came his Mother's voice.
She stood by the window, blinds open, and a pile of laundry in her arms. "Morning!" Tk sat up
feeling completely refreshed from the previous day's work. School, a basketball game, and then a

Acai Bowl Research Paper
As its popularity rapidly spreads beyond Southern California and Hawaii, acai bowls are
exponentially gaining nationwide recognition as one of the top superfoods of our time. They are
made up of components that are carefully selected to create a bowl of frosty, fruity heaven. For the
foundation, frozen acai berries are blended to a consistency– similar to that of a smoothie– that is
perfect for spooning. Just on top, the hearty granola adds the perfect crunch to the antioxidant filled
acai base. The icing on the cake– the sliced strawberries, bananas, plump blueberries, and drizzle of
honey– is the finishing touch that completes the acai bowl. This is not just any combination. The
colorful assorted berries with the acai creates an aesthetically pleasing breakfast or snack for
anytime of day. The mixed smell of the cocoa berry and aromatic honey granola construct a bowl
like no other. One spoonful automatically transfers the eater to a tropical paradise; the burst of the
sweet yet tart flavor will make it hard to resist another serving. ... Show more content on

Smoothie stores and juicers are popping up all over the country, supplying the demand for acai
bowls in numerous places. Not only are the acai bowls are acquiring an immensely solid reputation,
but they are also showing up on multiple forms of social media. Specifically, acai bowls have been
starring in the photos of various Instagram accounts. Often tagged with hashtags such as #acaibowl,
#food, #foodgasm, #foodporn, or #healthy, a photo of an acai bowl is no longer hard to come across.
The simultaneous emergence of the growing Instagram usage and the trend to post an "artsy food
pic" has made the acai bowl a generic and now ordinary food. Athletic foodies, teenage girls, the
first–timer, and food lovers now all have something in common– the usual acai bowl

Evidence For Food Dependency And Addiction

  • 1. Evidence For Food Dependency And Addiction Evidence for Food Dependency/Addiction Flora is feeling hungry, but she just ate. She walks around trying to forget about the urge to pick up a donut or a random snack from the cupboard. Flora can't get the food out of her mind. She feels like the food is calling her from the kitchen saying, "Eat me, eat me!" Flora gets up and makes her way to the food. She picks up granola bar, and opens it. The granola bar tastes wonderful and she is content, but then the bar was gone, and a few minutes later she wants another. She feels like she can't stop eating even after she has eaten a meal. Flora asks why she can't stop eating. She wonders if she could be addicted, so she turns to the computer and she looks up food addiction. Flora finds that is ... If a can of soda is consumed by a child everyday, that child would be consuming 132 grams of sugar in just one week (Jeffrey). This is an alarming statistic about the common hyperpalatable foods that Americans eat everyday, and what these foods can contain. Some more examples of hyperpalatable foods are granola bars, breads, and donuts (Jeffrey L. Fortuna Dr.p.H). The amount of sugar that was in the can of soda and compare that to the results of the rat experiment. The results say there were neural changes of elevated self–stimulation, striatal D2 dopamine receptors lowered, and a dopamine decrease (Ziauddeen). Dopamine or otherwise known as DA D2 is a neurotransmitter or a chemical. This chemical transmits signals in the brain between nerve cells or neurons. When something happy happens unexpectedly in a person 's life, neurons activate and transmit very few make dopamine. This means in order to feel happy, addicts need the dopamine that is released ("What is dopamine"). This compared to a methamphetamine user experiment, "Methamphetamine abusers had a significantly lower level of D2 receptor availability than comparison subjects... D2 receptor availability was associated with metabolic rate in the orbitofrontal cortex in abusers and in comparison subjects," (Volkow). In addition using drugs like meth or more commonly cocain over time the brain produces less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Observation And Loss Analysis: Cub Food Cub Foods is an enormous supermarket chain store offering a wide variety of products and 24 hour a day service. Having grown–up in the smaller town of Red Wing, MN, Econofoods and more recently, Walmart were the only choices for purchasing food items. Therefore, I was overwhelmed with the variety of brands and choices offered in every department at Cub. In addition, I was shocked at the significantly lower prices offered at this supermarket. For example, Nature Valley Oats and Honey granola bars cost $3.49 at Cub Foods and the price soars to $4.98 at Red Wing's Econofoods. I was drawn to this section because of their neat stacks located at the end of the "Breakfast" isle which also contained cereal, oatmeal, and other items typical associated with breakfast. My involvement in collegiate level athletics at St. Olaf means I often need a quick snack before or after practice in order to maintain my energy level. Granola bars have been my favorite snack to fulfill this need. This nutrition course made me question whether I have made a good decision consuming a granola bar on a daily basis and if I should consider other energy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For my calculation, I multiplied the grams of fat x 9 kcal/g, the grams of carbohydrate x 4kcal/g, and the grams protein x 4kcal/g, then added these amounts to derive the total number of calories in each product. The largest discrepancy between the manufacturer and my calculation was for the Clif bar, which reported the calorie count at 250 kcal, but was calculated at 265 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It all came back to me, slow and hazy; researching a dead language, thinking one symbol looked familiar, my thoughts roaming to the graffiti on the wall of an abandoned lumberyard where a vamp nest we were hunting had settled down. My mind kept wandering to irrelevant memories until it all blurred together and everything just faded into black. I didn't dream of anything noteworthy. I never did. More nightmares than dreams, but if I got lucky I didn't see anything but black until I woke. I don't move in my sleep, that's what I've been told. My only course of action was to hide the sucker in some random shelf corner and hope it's never opened again, and that's exactly what I did. After throwing the granola wrappers and coffee cups away, I put the jacket back on just in time to avoid whoever was stomping towards the library, witnessing me destroying all evidence of my nap induced crime. The sound of heavy work boots echoed from the hall. It was unmistakable and a small smile broke through my half–asleep fog. A figure popped up on the edge of my vision, making its way across the room, messing with the record player in the corner of the library. The sound of an old bass guitar and the artists raspy southern accent replaced the smooth jazz that filled the room moments before. He pushed the small towel on his head, back onto his shoulders, running his hands through his damp hair. "Morning, sleeping beauty. Did you dream about me" he smirked over his shoulder, the corner of his eyes crinkling slightly. My mood brightened at his friendly teasing. "You wish. • 4. Paleoization Of Food How to Paleoize Your Favorite Foods Just because you are choosing to switch to a paleo lifestyle doesn't mean you have to give up a love for food. Food translates to so much more than eating for survival; food is both comfort and joy. You don't have to give up any of the happiness you find in food to go paleo. To go paleo and keep the comfort, you just need to learn how to Paleoize all of your favorite foods! Potatoes Potatoes are a definite no on a paleo diet; but sweet potatoes are still in! Nearly any recipe that calls for potatoes can easily be replaced with sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes can be just as comforting as a mash or even in a stew or hash. However, replacing peanut butter in your diet is extremely simple. Both almond butter and cashew butter are great healthy paleo options. They can both can easily be substituted in place of peanut butter in any recipe and you can make them at home in just a few quick steps. Eggs Next to meet and vegetables, eggs are an essential part of the paleo diet. The key to eating eggs on the paleo diet is simple, you need to purchase free range eggs. Or if you are up to it raising your own free range chickens. Conventional Beef While purchasing meat may seem as simple as a quick trip to the grocery store. But the truth of the matter is, unless you are purchasing grass fed beef, it has most likely been subject to growth hormones, antibiotics, and haven't been grass fed. Finding grass fed beef shouldn't be as hard as you would think but it will take some work. You should also consider that it may look different, as in it won't be pumped full of red die to make it appear more "appealing", like in the grocery store. Flour Flour is surprisingly one of the easiest foods to replace on the paleo diet! Between coconut flour, almond flour (almond meal), aarow root powder, and tapioca powder, you can replace flower in just about any recipe you like!

  • 8. I Am Completely Honest : Being Sick With Strep Throat To be completely honest, I had a hard time remembering and keeping a diary of every little thing I do. I am a very busy person, considering I have a full time job, 2 part time jobs, and a full time college student. I did make my best attempt at trying to see what all I ate and for physical activity and my results are interesting. The first thing I would like to talk about would be the amount of exercise. The total amount in a week was to have 150 minutes. Well within 3 days, I had over 900 minutes. I actually bet there was more than that, but that's all I could remember. That is also including Wednesday me being sick with strep throat (as for this whole week actually.) It is kind of crazy even though I was sick, I still managed to get 900 minutes in 3 days. For logged time on Wednesday, I included a 35 minutes walk I take everyday with my dogs down the road. That is all I did Wednesday as I said, I was very ill with strep throat, as well as for all week and as I am writing this paper. Next is Thursday. Of course I took the usual 35 minute walk with my two pups. I was farming most of the day, and I only put 200 minutes of vigorous activity when actually now thinking of it probably was much more than that since we were unloading hay bales and I was feeding the baby calves. If you have ever fed over 150 baby calves twice a day, it is very exhausting work. On Friday I also did the daily 35 minute walk with the puppies. • 9. Descriptive Essay On Mountain-Climbing Adventure I looked up at the morning sky painted in hues of purple and pink. The crisp air tickled at my nose. I stood in front of the open passenger door of the truck while waiting for Jacob to give me further instructions. I found Jacob on one of those mountain–climbing adventure websites. He had the highest rating of all the Mountaineers featured. "Here's your climbing pack, Reagan," said Jacob holding it out for me. I took the climbing pack and placed my fleece blanket and windbreaker inside. My pack was already filled with the necessary mountain–climbing gear, granola bars, thermos, and a first aid kit. I grabbed my pocket–sized Bible from the passenger seat of the truck and tucked it into the side pouch of my pack. Jacob pulled the last of the mountain–climbing equipment from the bed of the truck and shut the tailgate. He looked up at me and smiled. "Are you ready for this adventure?" he asked. "I guess," I responded hesitantly. "Let's get going. There is a short hike before we get to the base of the mountain." Jacob led me up a trail following the edge of a brook. The rippling water carrying rocks flowing downward along the trail's edge helped to calm my nerves. Still, the thought of climbing up the steep rim of a mountain made my stomach weak. "How far is it to the base?" I asked. "This hike should take a little over an hour," he responded, "It is relatively smooth terrain." As we trekked along the brook, I was inspired by the scenery. I love the colors of fall, and there's no place like Colorado to celebrate it. We recently decided to take a trip up to the mountains to look at the beautiful Colorado Fall Colors. • 16. The Breakfast Cereal Industry Has Successful For Decades,... Introduction Breakfast cereal is one of the most popular forms of breakfast in the United States. Just about all of us have had and enjoyed a bowl of cereal in the morning. The breakfast cereal industry is very profitable and has been around a long time. The NAICS code for this topic is 311320 and the SIC code is 2043 Cereal Breakfast Foods, The SIC gives a description of establishments as primarily engaged in manufacturing cereal breakfast foods and related preparations, except breakfast bars. Cereal breakfast foods include: coffee substitutes made grain, hulled corn, farina, granola (except bars and clusters), hominy grits, infant cereal foods, oatmeal, rolled oats, rice breakfast foods and wheat flakes. History The ready–to–eat (RTE) breakfast cereal industry has been very successful for decades, achieving high returns and growth. By 1994, the US market alone has grown to $8 billion in sales, and 2.82 billion pounds in volume and In 2007, the market value for the industry was $11.2 billion. Despite its high profitability, the industry has grown more concentrated over the years with very few and mostly unsuccessful entry attempts. The breakfast cereal was first invented in 1863 by Dr. James Caleb Jackson who made the granola. The granola was a hard wheat that had to soak overnight before it could be eaten. Later the popular Corn Flakes was invented. However, by 1994, the industry started to face new challenges, namely slower demand and gain in market share by private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If this experiment were to be done again, some potential changes to be made would include using multiple products instead of just granola bars. Only getting data from the one product isn't reliable enough for many reasons. Based on research, granola bars were one of the trickiest products to use because the taste between each brand was so similar and the outcomes were more random. Some foods that were said to give accurate votes were Greek yogurt, soup, bagels, ranch dressing and oatmeal. Since people were used in this experiment, many factors could've affected the outcome. People may not have favored granola bars in any way, not liked the flavor, or didn't regularly eat the product to know for sure which one they liked better. Many testers were on the fence when deciding which they preferred, asking if they truly had to choose one and explaining how they tasted identical. Using a variety of foods and products would eliminate that problem in the sense that different foods may have more opposing flavors between brands. Another factor to be changed for a future experiment would be the amount of people tested. Instead of testing 20 adults and 40 children, the amounts should be equal. Also, instead of just testing "adults", tracking the exact ages of each adult would find any correlation with exact age and preference. Lastly, adding more time to each test or giving more of a sample would increase reliability as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this challenge, we had to create two dishes using the secret ingredient–flour tortillas–and ingredients from a list as well as proteins. Our curveball was that we had to use a food processor for one of our dishes. My group I made a Lemon Cheesecake Cannoli and a Chicken Salsa. The cannoli filling consisted of cream cheese, lemon pudding, lemon juice, and vanilla extract; the shell was made from a flour tortilla. It was topped off with granola and powdered sugar. • 28. The Breakfast Cereal Industry Is The Most Popular Forms Of... Breakfast cereal is one of the most popular forms of breakfast in the United States. However, by 1994, the industry started to face new challenges, namely slower demand and gain in market share by private labels. ... • 29. Documentary Analysis: Fed Up The documentary, Fed Up, features one of the U.S.'s most concerning health issues: obesity. Obesity–related ailments, like diabetes and heart disease, have long been blamed on fat, which is a misnomer that, along with other commonly–held notions, Fed Up links back to 1977's McGovern Report, the first study of its kind. The report's findings sparked the reduced fat movement that has persisted for decades since 1977. As a result, food manufacturers began adding sugar to compensate for the loss of taste when fat is removed. As the film reveals, it is this added sugar that is the culprit behind the obesity epidemic in the U.S. Fed Up discusses some of the myths surrounding healthy eating, as well as the role and responsibility of so–called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Added sugar, as mentioned earlier, is the single worst ingredient in the modern diet and is credited with ailments like obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease , and cancer. "Added sugar (and high fructose corn syrup) is made of two simple sugars... glucose and fructose. One of the main reasons sugar is harmful, is because of the fructose. Although some fructose from fruit is good, large amounts from added sugar can have disastrous effects on health. For this reason... many people have started trying to avoid fructose and have turned to fructose–free sweeteners instead. One of these is Brown Rice Syrup (also called Rice Malt Syrup or simply Rice Syrup), which is essentially all made of glucose. Glucose is also found in starchy foods like potatoes and is not considered as harmful for metabolic health as fructose" (Brown Rice Syrup: Good or Bad, 2014). So, brown rice syrup is not so bad, it seems. But what about invert cane syrup? Inverted sugar is made from a combination of glucose and fructose and formed by splitting sucrose into these two components, giving a sweeter taste and making it ideal for baking, is less likely to crystalize, and good for prolonging shelf life. But it is still sugar, with all its "benefits," like diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay. The difference with invert sugar is that there is a lack of guidelines regarding its use. "There's currently no acceptable daily intake (ADI) set for invert sugar, so it's difficult to gauge what your exact limit should be" (Is Invert Sugar Bad For You, n.d.). Xanthan gum, although it is a sugar–like compound, is used to make medicine, as a thickening and stabilizing agent in foods, and in toothpaste, and is "safe when up to 15 grams per day are taken..." • 30. The Importance Of Love In My Life When I was growing up I was always told to treat others with kindness and respect, no matter who they were or how old they were. These are things that I have carried along with me throughout my life so far. Over the years I have gained some new characteristics about me and lost some, that were good and bad. The things that I care most about in life is love for my friends, family and dog. They have allowed me to be myself and have always tried to get me to remain as positive as I possibly can. My family has been there for me throughout my entire life. They taught me the difference between right and wrong. Being a big part of my life, they will always have a special place in my head and heart. As for friends, I have developed new ones over the years, and lost some, but they have taught me things about myself, that I did not know. For example, they have allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, and try new things. I care about them, they play a very important role in my life, because they have allowed me to realize who I am. The final thing that matters a lot to me in my life is my dog, Wyatt. He has been apart of my life since I was very little. My dog never fails to make me smile, and makes my days much better Being a teenager, I also have many fears, stresses and things that weigh me down. These things consist of spiders, asking for help and disappointing my family. The fear of spiders has been with me since I was a toddler. The way they crawl around has never ... Though, the material needs work. Still, I put it aside in the "maybe" stack on my desk. The remainder of the day will be a piece of cake. I skip lunch to meet with Betsy, the B.A. lawyer, Thom argued with at the staff meeting. She wants to discuss a writer that Sarah dealt with who started a rewrite before his contract had been signed off on by both parties. I agree to speak with her, but would rather not get in between the dispute she had with Thom. "Why don't you check with Sarah?" I begin with, "Since, I've never met the writer or spoken to his agent." "I'm aware of that," she emphasizes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 32. Food Should Be Allowed In School Essay Every high schooler has experienced having to clutch their rumbling stomach as they stare at the clock all of class hoping their table partners do not hear, and discussing with a neighbor what is on the lunch menu, rather than discussing about what they just learned in class. So, snacks should be allowed in high school classes because high schoolers are respectful of the privilege, snacking all day leads to health benefits, and food does not interfere negatively with learning. Students should be able to bring snacks into their HS classrooms. High Schoolers should be able to eat in the classroom because they would be respectful of that privilege. The reason some teachers do not allow food in their classroom is that it could be messy. High schoolers are old enough to know that they should choose a snack that will not make a mess, and they have a responsibility to pick up their mess they leave behind. Some teachers also find snacks to be a great distraction, but choosing a snack that will not be distracting to them or the people around them is another responsibility that the students are able to handle. Also, teachers will not have to constantly attempt to stop their hungry students. The teacher would not have to interrupt class for a brief lecture every time someone pulls out a granola bar. One certified educator stated, "I made this decision (of allowing food in the classroom) after my first semester, when I found that focusing so much on nit–picky items such as whether ... • 37. My Escape To Escape I woke up on a cold, torn up mattress. I try to stand up, struggling since I was tied to the wall behind me. My head was throbbing and my wrists and ankles burned from the rope. That's when I heard you walking down the stairs. My heart was pounding out of my chest. You then slowly unlocked the cage. For the first time I couldn't save myself. You leaned over me, you stunk of stale cigarettes and booze. I knew I could survive the things you would do to me, I just didn't know if I could ever get out. "Morning" you mumbled with a thick southern accent. I didn't answer you, but you seemed to not care, I wanted you to care. You pulled out a granola bar from your pocket and gave me water, I was scared because I knew you wouldn't do this if you didn't want me to live. My arms were finally untied so I could eat. I watched you walk back up the stairs and you were talking to someone, maybe you had a wife and kids. After I devour the granola bar, I layed back down. I go to sleep trying to think of a plan on how to escape. I broke off a piece of wood from the small table in the same room I was in, and sharpened it for the next time you would walk in to feed me. I can hear you creep down the stairs and I prepare myself for what's next to come. Laying down with the sharpened stick beside me, I realize that I should've thought the plan out more for you were a lot bigger than me and my homemade knife wouldn't do the trick.
