As Hamlet might seem like one to be thoughtful of his actions, he changes as he suddenly acts

his feet as he contemplates, "Haste me to know 't, that I, with wings as swift/ As meditation or the

such a repetition, the narrator wants to underline the obvious difference between the house's former
splendor and its current half–ruined appearance, though it still tries to look "stubborn and

Both heroines understand that certain changes are inevitable in their condition. They are confused
by possible consequences and are scared stiff of what they are expected to do. While these emotions
are not shown directly, they are shown through the setting. In Faulkner's story, Miss Emily leaves
her house very seldom as if the surrounding world makes her insecure and unconfident, while a
disgusting stink of decay and frustration seems to start coming from the building she has been
occupying for so many years.

Waiting In My Life
I am waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, and yes still waiting. I don't know how old i am
anymore. My life is a never ending cycle that hasn't stopped spinning into a never ending spiral of
nothingness. And yet, I remain within it. While there is little to no future in my daily cycle I find
comfort in knowing what to expect, but I expect something unexpected. The clock chimes 12 so I
rise from my bench and move to the bar for my daily drink. The right door hinge squeaks as I walk
in. I pause briefly then move on to my stool 3 down right in from of the Sasparilla Machine. There
is no need for any conversation the tender knows my drink and has already been paid in full 34
years ago for this drink. Within 3 minutes the glass is dry and I return to my bench by the tracks to

Joan Didion and Tim O'Brien have many differences and similarities in their writing. In On Keeping
a Notebook, Didion emphasizes how she keeps a notebook, not a diary,and the differences between
a notebook and a diary. She makes numerous other points along the way throughout the writing.
O'Brien writes about the Vietnam War and emphasizes items that the men carry, switching from
point of views sporadically. Both authors write with a reminiscent tone, as if they are looking back

point made in both pieces has to do with stretching the truth somewhat to make for a better story.
Didion mentions how with a diary, one would have to write exactly what happened, whereas with a
notebook, she feels she only has to jot down some things. Like she would be able to expand on what
happened later, make it up as she goes along. "And yet it is precisely that fictitious crab that makes
me see the afternoon all over again, a home movie run all too often, the father bearing gifts, the
child weeping, an exercise in family love and guilt"(Didion 83). She says how part of her story
about the cracked crab was untrue, and exaggerated, however it is that part that makes her remember
and believe it all the more. O'Brien plays with similar ideas about truth, elaborating on it in the
chapter How to Tell a True War Story. The story Sanders tells about the men and the mountain,
speaks of strange sounds, almost sounds like it's a story about ghosts, and he mentions how he
doesn't really remember all of the details, so some of it may be exaggerated.

One wants to see the cat and mouse game between Bass and Dempewolf. Lauralee is a clever,
seductive, and cunning woman. She's smarter than Dempewolf and, as stated, in the second act she
overshadows him. The dialogue is consistent with the culture, and moreover, the voices are
consistent for each character. However, the script relies on too much dialogue which slows the pace.
The tension is best in the first act, especially in the opening scene when Bass saves the mother and
daughter. Then when they try to trap Lauralee, the tension is felt. Certainly, when Bass is captured,
there's compelling tension. However, the tension can be stronger if there's more of a ticking clock,
more action, and less scenes that rely on dialogue. There are small formatting errors. Only CAP the
name when a character is first introduced. Clarify if Emiliano is also Miliano. One wonders if Bass
should meet Miliano in the first act for the pay off in the climax. Remember to show and not explain
or tell. In summary, there's no doubt that a story about Bass Reeves should be told. CONSIDER

album, The Basement Tapes, and its "weird" views on the old America. Marcus compares Dylan's
music to several well–known people's music and speeches in such a way to support his argument
about how past historical events affected the public eye. He believes that the mood, instrumentation,
and not as noticeably, the lyrics all lead up to the fear, wonder, and curiosity for when Judgment
Day will arrive. He portrays the album as an America where the puritans were against the pioneers,
suggesting the Puritans settled the land where they were free to practice religion while pioneers

Billy Weaver was walking down the street after getting off the train when something in a window
front caught his eye. If was as if he was a rat that smelled cheese and trying to sniff it out. The sign

The structures of the two stories are structured to create and sustain suspense. Both Dickens and
Wells try to build up suspense in the beginning of the stories and to add to the tension the stories end
with mystery and lead you to your own interpretation of what could have happened. The Signalman

signalman). Another character is also introduced: the narrator. Dickens describes the signalman as a
'dark sallow man' and as having a 'dark beard' and 'heavy eyebrows'. It seems that Dickens wishes to
portray the signalman as a dark and ominous figure. However, he then sheds some light on the
character of the signalman. Dickens portrays him to be very lonely and afraid of something. This is

Another way in which Dickens shows this is by making the signalman appear to be a little strange.
This is done, at first, by his lack of speech: 'He looked up at me without replying'. Dickens
continues this suggestion (the signalman is insane) when he does finally speak. He speaks only in a
low voice, adding to the suggestion of danger. Then he tells the narrator what is wrong: the ghostly
sightings. This again makes us question his sanity.
Dickens maintains this suspense that he has created with use of a leitmotiv of the red light, which is
linked to the menacing apparition and maybe an accident on the railway. When the narrator leaves
after the first visit the signalman still has not told him the full story about the apparition. We have to
wait until their next meeting to find out for ourselves. This leaves the story as a so–called 'cliff–
hanger' and encourages us read on.
On their second meeting, the signalman tells the narrator, and us, of the accident that seemed so
obviously linked to the apparition by the fact that every time it appeared there was an accident on
the line somewhere. After, sustaining the suspense through the first meeting of the two men,
Dickens creates even more with the revealing of this ominous event. Dickens then maintains

After viewing the movie Macbeth, I believe that the movie is very similar to the play with only a
few discrepancies for dramatics. In the beginning of the movie, which portrays Act I, the scene
opens on the battlefield in which Macbeth and Banquo are introduced by the dying Captain;
Macbeth and Banquo are praised as valiant soldiers for Scotland. Just as in the play, Macbeth and
Banquo come upon the three witches, but the setting is dark and eery and takes place in what seems
to be a warehouse. The three witches stand across the room and address Macbeth as the Thane of
Glamis, the Thane of Cawdor, and the future king. They address Banquo with paradoxical
statements that are seen in the play as well. The only differences in Act I of the movie and Act I of
