According to fashion designer Mariejo Cherestal, there are various reasons for wearing clothes beyond simply being a piece of fabric. Clothes express one's individual style, personality, and beauty through the craftsmanship of the designer's work. Traditionally, clothes were worn to protect the body and provide privacy, but enhancing beauty remains a primary purpose. Additionally, clothes fulfill physical needs of protection and safety, psychological needs of adornment and expressing identity and culture, and social needs of conforming to standards and affiliating with others.
