Traditional Culture Vs. Lean In Health Care
Lean culture is the "combination of defining customer value, aligning around a common purpose, striving for perfection while at the same time
respecting and developing employees" (O'Rourke, 2017). A Lean culture is an important component of a lean program. It serves as the framework in
which lean tools and techniques are utilized. Without a receptive culture, the lean principles will fail. Leaders must champion a lean environment
aligned with the mission, vision and values of the healthcare organization. In addition, leaders are tasked with creating an organization culture that is
receptive to lean thinking (Going Lean in Health Care, 2005).
A lean culture differs in many ways from traditional organizational culture. Since the traditional and lean way vary widely, a conversion requires
re–conditioning of all those involved. The following table shows the differences between a traditional and lean culture. Table 1. Traditional Culture
versus Lean Culture.
(Going Lean in Health Care, 2005).
A successful and sustainable lean culture requires new behaviors that start at the very top of the organization. Leadership can drive the Lean culture
change process by setting the behavioral expectations. The behavior and actions will only produce a culture change if they are modeled from top to
bottom. Leaders must remain committed to the process as a new way of doing business (Rubrich, 2017). They must constantly drive the same message,
involve everyone and guide the cultural

Mali Was Both A Traditional Culture And Non-Muslim Culture
Mali was both a traditional culture and Islamic culture because there was both muslim and non muslims living under the same king. In the text from
life in the Kingdom of Mali it says "Muslim courts of law beside the traditional courts used by non–muslims". The text is meaning that different
religions are welcome. In villages they had traditional beliefs and values based off kinship. People that lived in your village were your family and
friends. The government in the clans were made up of the oldest man in each family. In the traditional part of Mali trading was the main economic
activity in the villages. This is because farming was the most important activity in villages. Wherever you go you would farm to trade for spices and

Methods and Myths of Traditional African Medicines and its Place in Modern Society Traditional African medicines, and the spiritual healers that
administer these medicines are an important part of African society. For many centuries and even millenniums these healers with there spiritual and
naturalistic remedies have been responsible for taking care of the African world as we know it. Traditional African medicines have been a greater
help to all of society and modern science, but still lie at the root of much controversy over its ability to be a valid healing tool. Some doctor's and
scientist believe that a possible placebo effect may be the root of what makes these remedies and rituals work; but there is also evidence that... Show

Becoming a traditional healer requires an intense amount of SBA, an ancient Kemetic word meaning teaching, learning, wisdom, and study, or
overall deep thought(1). In fact, the process of learning to become a healer consist of a very high level of learning; it is necessary that every
healer be taught properly, in order for him or her to be able to share his knowledge properly with the forthcoming generation. For the aspiring
healer, one must first become a good learner and listener before one can become a good teacher; the two concepts of teaching and learning are
intertwined, one hand washes the other. Once this level of SBA is reached as a healer, the whole world is seen in a different light so says Asa G.
Hilliard. III. Sounds are heard that no one can hear, visions that no one else can see are seen by the healer. After his training the healer walks
through the same world every person walks through. But he sees signs others just don't see. He hears sounds others don't hear. The same tree that
just stands there dumbly to everyone, to the healer its leaves have something to say. The healer learns the meaning of the river's sound, of the
sounds of the forest animals. And when he needs the curing spirit from a plant , if his eyes are well prepared , he may see from a great distance some
small sign of a leaf that is ready

Traditional Medicine And Alternative Medicine
Before we get into what exactly African Traditional Medicine is we have to talk about what exactly Traditional Medicine is in general. Traditional
Medicine is often referred to as folk medicine or alternative medicine. Folk Medicine is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of a health care
system in Africa and has been tested time and time again. This method is an ancient form of healing that humans have used to cope and deal with many
diseases that have threatened human existence. Which explains why Traditional Medicine is so broad and diverse. Different cultures have developed
different forms of homegrown healing methods which explains why there is no universally accepted definition to the term of Traditional Medicine
(Traditional Medicine). "According to the World Health Organization, Traditional Medicine is "the sum total of the knowledge, skills and practices
based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health, as well as
in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illnesses." Traditional healer, on the other hand, is "a person who is
recognized by the community where he or she lives as someone competent to provide health care by using plant, animal and mineral substances and
other methods based on social, cultural and religious practices"" (Traditional Medicine). Traditional Medicine used to be the popular choose of health

Traditional Tales As A Reflection Of Culture
Traditional tales are a reflection of the culture in which they are told due to various aspects such as their concern with goddesses, gods, and other
supernatural creatures that relate to humans. The importance of myths being traditional tales and a reflection of culture displays the civilization and
society of a myth and its truths. Human culture conserves historical records through the human language. It is known that humans were passing oral
stories soon after they developed the ability of speech, resulting in important supernatural events and dates to be told before the present day, though
they are accepted as "imaginative creations similar to Greek tragedies.". 1P. Ian. Myth in the Ancient World (Palgrave, 2012), p. 11. They also do not
have a known author, which results in the inevitability of multiple versions of a specific story being told. By means of this, ancient traditions reflected
numerous elements of culture.
A substantial amount of the traditional tales have been rewritten in various forms and have also become printed literature. The tales are extremely
important within a society because it carries culture in which is a reflection of a certain society. Due to this, myths express many differences such as
social practices, the beliefs of the creators, and the wisdom behind each story. This allows us to understand that there is much more to myths than
inspiration and entertainment, in fact, they express the spiritual truths of mankind. Albeit the fact that

The characters in the film Whale Rider choose how they will incorporate traditional Maori culture into their modern life. ––– Whale Rider is set in a
small New Zealand coastal village inhabited by Maoris who claim descent from Paikea, the Whale Rider. For 1,000 years a male heir of the Chief
has become leader of the tribe. At the beginning of the film, the wife of Porourangi, the Chief's eldest son, dies in childbirth along with the male
twin she was carrying. The surviving child, a girl, is given the name of Pai, the traditional name given to the male child. Porourangi is grief
stricken and departs for Europe, leaving Pai to be brought up by her grandparents, Koro and Nanny Flowers. Koro loves Pai, but won't accept her
as Chief. He is convinced that the troubles of the tribe are attributable to Pai aspiring to be leader. He tries unsuccessfully to train the other boys in
the tribe for the role. Far out at sea a school of whales respond to Pai's calls for guidance. They swim to the village but become beached. Symbolically
the tribe will die. Only Pai is willing to make the sacrifice to save her people, and because of this Koro accepts her leadership. Koro refuses to accept
Pai as leader despite her repeatedly showing herself to be more capable than any of the boys. We see her challenging the old ways, and undertaking
the gruelling demands of traditional warrior practice. It is she who goes into the sea to bring back Koro's prize possession. The casting of

The Consumer's Perception on Herbalism
An average consumer, named Greg, enters a pharmacy looking for medication to clear up his common cold. Normally, Greg would just grab some
cough syrup and lozenges and not think twice about it. But now his pharmacy not only offers traditional medications such as Acetaminophen or
Pseudoephedrine but they also offer combinations of herbs such as peppermint for coughing or eucalyptus for a nasal decongestant. How does Greg
decide between the herbal remedy and the traditional pharmaceutical medicine? How will he know if the herbal combination will actually work or be
safe for him? These are the kind of questions most consumers ask themselves when faced with this dilemma. Well first, Greg falls under one of the
"many people [who] use complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for different health problems such as anxiety, or allergic disorders, as
well as minor ailments or chronic diseases", in his case the common cold (Freymann et al. 13). Second, in current society, the trend to be "organic" or
"natural" is pushing consumers, like Greg, to approach the already established idea of herbalism or other alternative medicinal methods, therefore
making the choice of the herbal remedy a possible candidate for him by societal pressures. Third, Greg is unaware of any of the health risks that could
occur with either medicine options. Any of these points make the decision for either medicine an uneducated choice that could come with health
repercussions, even if it just for a common

Traditional Native American Culture
Long before the white man "discovered" America, people have already been living here. These people are known as the Native Americans. As the
settlers came to the native land, they brought firm beliefs with them that ended up causing great conflicts with the native people. It was clear that the
travelers and the native people could not live among one another since the native people has their own set of values and they were much different than
the white man's beliefs. Traditional Lakota spirituality is a form of religious belief that each thing, plant and animal has a spirit. The traditional Native
American community was a small group of related families. Each community included a headman, a man would accomplish this position of leadership
by demonstrating characteristics valued by the group, such as generosity, wisdom, fortitude, and spiritual power gained through dreams and visions.
The Natives felt that the more isolated and rural the population was the more traditional it tended to be. Fraternal societies were also significant within
the community life. Memberships to this society was by invitation only. The point of the society was to function as a tribal council. One important
leader in the society was a healer, respected for wisdom as well as curative powers. This healer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

China is one of the oldest civilizations on the planet, records of Chinese civilization dates back to around 1766 B.C.E. China is located in eastern Asia
along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. With approximately 3.7 million square miles, China is the fourth largest nation in the world. In the west, the area
consists of mountains, high levels, and desert. The eastern areas are described by fields, deltas, and hills, the highest point being the largest mountain
in the world; Mount Everest. China is also the most populous country on earth. The assessed population in 2014 was 1.36 billion people, which is more
than one–fifth of the world 's populace. (Central Intelligence Agency, 2016) Of these individuals, 92 percent are Han Chinese; the remaining 8 percent
are individuals of Zhuang, Uyghur, Hui, Yi, Tibetan, Miao, Manchu, Mongol, Buyi, Korean, and different nationalities. Mandarin Chinese is the
official language. However, China is also home to several other languages including Cantonese, Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, Zhuang, English, and
Portuguese.

The Conflict Between Modern And Traditional Culture
The conflict between modern and traditional culture continues to have a significant impact on people with strong cultural beliefs. In "Dead Men's
Path", Chinua Achebe uses literary elements of setting, symbolism, conflict and irony to analyze the theme of cultural conflict between people with
modern values and traditional culture. To set the background, Achebe begins the story with a twenty–six years old young man being elected as a
principal of a rural school located in a village in Nigeria during British colonization in the first month of 1949. He sets the mood beginning with
happiness, as the protagonist Michael Obi receives the new assignment as principal of the school and enthusiastically prepares for the new school year,
and ends the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To further enhance the story, Achebe intentionally chooses the harmful allamanda vine to fence the sacred path of the residents to symbolize
alienation. Scientifically, allamanda vines have bountiful yellow pompon with a delicate scent and are used for decoration mostly to cover large
areas. Besides the beautiful aspect of the flower, the plant contains a toxic substance that if consumed it can be deadly. It is conspicuous, why this
plant was used to cover the sacred path. To the contrary of allamanda vine, the author chooses "beautiful hibiscus" (Achebe 11) to symbolize another
aspect of cultural difference and the need to harmonize the two together. Hibiscus is a graceful plant with beautiful red flower heads signifying unity
and peace. It is understandable, that is the author's desire to convey the message of the importance of unity among cultures. In like manner, both the
hibiscus and allamanda vine, are extrinsic floras comparing to the local "neighborhood bushes." (Achebe 11) It is the author's way of using the shrubs
as a symbol of cultural difference. In relation to the flower images, Achebe uses the path symbolic image to signify the meaning of the divine
connection between the "village shrine" (Achebe 11) and their descendants. For the villagers, the pathway is a sacred path to which they remain
connected with their dead families. To shortly mention,

2.1.2.The Chinese Traditional Culture influences on the Outdoor Leisure and the Nature
As for the definition of "nature", western definition of nature is in its literal meanings embodied in wildness e.g. natural landscape and wild things,
which is intact from human interventions, while unlike Western culture's definition of nature, Chinese traditional culture emphasizes the coexistence
between human and nature.
Leisure (xiu xian) in the ancient Chinese study will uncover the relationship between ancient Chinese and their relationships with nature. Chinese
xiuxian would be the most appropriate explanation for the western word leisure, the characters of "Xiu and Xian (дј‘,й—І)" from its literally speaking
that they represent the ancient Chinese understandings for the nature ( people rest beneath the tree), only through nature could human being rest and
relax.
The concept of leisure also contains harmonious relationships between human beings and nature, with humans being considered part of nature. Thus,
the nature should not be offended by human beings, but we should take the reverence and references or clues from nature to be natural. Going through
ancient history, the Chinese ancestors used the term Tian di (heavens and the earth) to mean nature and treated them as divine. The earth receives the
seeds of the five grains and cares for the six domestic animals, enabling people to live in abundance, while the heavens bestow sunlight and rain, as

Can Music Contribute to Anything Worth?
Can music contribute to anything worth?
Famous music composer, Ludwig van Beethoven once rightly quoted "Music is a higher revelation than philosophy". Indeed, music has higher
magnitude than just being a mere form of entertainment– it plays a significant role in our society be it politics or religion or even academics. So
important is music's value that it has been recorded throughout history of mankind in numerous ancient writings including the sacred Hindu scripture,
Veda. Thus it is no surprise that even today the value and contribution of music has not declined but on the contrary, risen. Soul, blues, country,

"Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" by Pete Seeger became a popular anti–war protest song during the 1960s. This song did not only protest against
the Vietnam War but also made their generation more aware about the global problems. Songs like "Not Ready to Make Nice" by Dixie chicks about
freedom of speech was written after they received death threats for singing against the Iraq war, protests against the violation of human rights. But
music is not only used to protest, it is also used to give hope and optimism. "We Shall Overcome", a song sung by Guy Carawan together with the
Montgomery Gospel Trio and the Nashville Quartet, is perhaps the best known example of civil rights song. Instead of blaming the government, this
song registered a feeling of hope and faith among African–Americans during the civil rights movement. Music helps to conserve and promote the most
prized possession of human civilization: religion, culture and tradition. Each community has its distinct music through which it can display its culture
and tradition. For example though dДЃpДЃ and gospels both are religious and devotional songs they introduce us to two distinctly different cultures.

A Traditional Indian Culture And American Culture
Identity and Names
The names we are given are essential in forming our identity. It is the way we are addressed by everyone starting from birth. It is the beginning of
how we define ourselves in our own terms `as a result of growing up and experiencing life. In Indian culture, from The Namesake, the grandmother
chooses a good name for the child before they are born. Gogol was supposed to be a pet name only used by family and close friends. For Gogol, his
name highlights his differences to everyone else, but more importantly, himself. He endures a consistent struggle with his two cultures throughout the
novel. He, as a young adult, is searching for acceptance of both his traditional Indian culture and American culture. The Namesake, explores the theme
of identity by examining the differences of both cultures. He has two names and therefore two identities, Gogol and Nikhil, and throughout the novel
he looks for a way to incorporate them into one whole.
Naming a child following Bengali tradition is extremely different in comparison to American culture. This highlights the importance of a child finding
their own way in their own time, but also allows the parents to choose the best name. When it comes to naming the child, that honor is given to an
elder relative. There are always two names that a Bengali child will have: a pet name and a good name. In the case of Gogol the letter containing his
names was never received and considered lost. Therefore, his parents chose the name

we are in the midst of another great extinction and for the first time, natural causes are not behind it. Humans' habit of overconsumption is the root of
the issue. Although there have been multiple movements being pushed to control these practices, they are either not enforced or loopholes are found

The Mayans And Traditional Culture
The Mayans try to preserve their traditional culture. Traditional culture is ways of life and customs handed down from ancestors. Mayan homes
are one room, and made out of brick or mud called adobe. They are simple, with packed Earth floors and little furniture. The family might have a
table and chairs, and hammocks for sleeping. There is a cook fire in the middle of the home, with clay pots around it. The most important thing in
the traditional Mayan home is a family altar, for religious worship. One traditional custom of their culture is to ask the Earth for permission to
build a home. The Mayans are also adapting to modern life. Adaptation is the change in a way of life so you can suit new conditions. The modern
Mayan homes in larger town might have running water and electricity. Some homes might even have televisions or radios, and cooking utensils are
becoming more common. Homes also may have blenders, gas stoves, and other appliances. The roles of traditional roles of men and women are very

Traditionally, sports culture has always been thought of as a "male arena," a strong, masculine world ruled by men, pumped up with violence. The
National Football League (NFL) and its players embody this resemblance. Despite the no–politics rule, the NFL use flyovers of military aircraft before
games, promoting the American military. Military is also common at MLB games. For example, President George W. Bush threw out the first pitch

How Does Traditional Mexican Music Influence People's...
In my personal experience, Mexican music has revolved around my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a bordertown has its Hispanic
heritage. Whether I was at home, school, or even in public places, I would hear Spanish related music playing in the background. I believe Spanish
music holds many values when it comes to different occasions. The music can manipulate the minds of its listeners using love, passion, and outstanding
rhythms. After reading an article online, I can explain how three different genres of traditional Mexican music influence people's culture.
The genre that most people know Mexican music by is Mariachi. Mariachi is usually played at birthday parties, quinceaГ±eras, and any other social
gathering. In a Mariachi band, the member's attire consists of a "Charro" suit and sombrero. For the main part, they use violins, trumpets, a classical
guitar and a "vihuela" (a five string guitar). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ranchera music can tell a story, and use love, patriotism, and nature to make a magnificent melody. The music originates from the word "rancho"
meaning ranches. Coming from rural parts of Mexico, Ranchera music usually starts with "El Grito Mexicano" a yell that the musician or audience
member makes. Finally Ranchera music can be simallary compared to the tempo of a waltz, a polka or a bolero.
The last genre NorteГ±o is comprised of other music like "Tejano" or "Tex–Mex". This kind of music is very relatable to me and is personally one of
my favorite type of Mexican music. A twelve string guitar known as "bajo sexto" and the accordion are NorteГ±o's most characteristic instruments.
NorteГ±o music is usually played by a group of men or a band. The music is originated from migrated europeans who traveled to northern

Australian Indigenous epistemology is the communication and interpretation and experiencing of physical world, human world and scared world with
the Indigenous perspectives of knowing, being and doing. Base on the literature review, the Australian Indigenous epistemology can be described as the
following diagram. First of all, human world received the knowledge from physical world by experiencing, controlling and organizing their ways of
knowing. Then, this knowledge is embodied, reciprocal and relatedness to apply in the communication and co–existing processes with other entities, to
create ways of being. The ways of being support the emergence of scared world through sharing and learning processes of Indigenous community. In
addition, ways of doing is synthesis and articulation of Indigenous ways of knowing and ways of being to develop laws, power, culture and essence
to assist the scared world. Likewise, scared world also contributes the ways of doing by setting up the concept of do no harm approach and
co–existence with other entitles to maintain and guard to become a sustainable physical world. To sum up, Australian indigenous epistemology is a
unique and the steps are link each other as a packed one in its origin.

Traditional Herbal Remedies : Culture And Society Of Russia
HERBALISM IN RUSSIA
Heather Riley
RUSC 101: Culture and Society of Russia
4 October 2015
Thesis: Efficacy of traditional herbal remedies combined with a cultural faith in those traditions, combats modern medicine 's inherent distrust of
traditional healing.
Change is when existing practices are heavily integrated. This is a reflection of belief in the practices a population is to using, and the faith in the
herbalists as well as their remedies. This faith is grown through knowledge about the local plant life and the actions created by applying these cures.
Zevin shares the importance of study and adaptation of various traditions which the Russians were exposed to. The geographical setting which allowed
the wide cultural access led to "unique features and advantages" not found anywhere else. In Russia, adjustments to modern medical practices were
slow to be accepted and can be seen today. There is an inherent distrust of non–traditional healing reinforced by modern medicine that is combated by
cultural faith in and the efficacy of traditional herbal remedies.
There are those that resist change despite practical evidence. By incorporating existing beliefs change occurs faster and more easily than if a new
system is decreed. In an article written by Max Bienkowski, he speaks to how subtly this has been accomplished in the past, specifically regarding
medicinal thought during the medieval ages. He further explains that this happened most often when those traditions

Igbo Culture And Traditional Medicine
Medicine and health are essential in everyday living, but plunging into African medicine helps discover the reasons for cultural ritual practices,
society, and religion, resulting in a host of information that provides a deep insight into African culture. According to many, "African traditional
medicine represents the sum of the people's medicinal knowledge as well as beliefs, skills, and practices used in diagnosing, preventing, or
eliminating a physical, mental, or social disequilibrium" (Selin 679). This is especially true of the Igbo tribe in modern–day southeast Nigeria. The
novel Things Fall Apart briefly explores the world of traditional medicine, describing the journey that young and ill patients must travel to detach

As accounted by many, "Traditional healers often act, in part, as an intermediary between the visible and invisible worlds; between the living and the
dead or ancestors, sometimes to determine which spirits are at work and how to bring the sick person back into harmony with their ancestors"
(Abdullahi В¶ 3). This provides the emotional and spiritual depth of traditional medical practitioners, as they truly make an effort to connect patients to
their community even if they are severely ill (Abdullahi В¶ 3). Finally, the Igbo tribe held many secret societies, including instruction in medicine, that
held both secular and religious functions and allowed inducted community members to learn about its origins ("Cults and Rituals" 284). This further
establishes their connection of religion to medicine, as secret societies may teach medicine to members in a religious setting. Therefore, when Igbo
medical practitioners practiced medicine before colonization, they incorporated many aspects of their religion, including, but not limited to, sorcery
and divination, as they have for many years.
Two main groups of people were allowed to practice medicine used in Igbo culture. There were authorities, known as medicine men, who were known
to practice sorcery among their patients; only those who had a knowledge of medicine and pharmacology could practice sorcery ("Cults and Rituals"
286). In addition, the Dibia, referred to as

Compare And Contrast The Culture Care Theory And The...
Culture Care Theory and the traditional nursing metaparadigm Care and culture are the key constructs that make up the Culture Care Theory. This
theory differed from other nurses' work or mindset because nurse leaders relied heavily up on the four metaparadigm concepts of person, environment,
health, and nursing to explain nursing (McFarland and Wehbe–Alamah, 2015). Leininger realized that those four metaparadigm concepts were to
limited in its scope regarding nursing and culture and care ideologies. Interestingly, care and culture were excluded from the metaparadigm. "It is not
logical to use nursing to explain nursing" (McFarland and Wehbe–Alamah, 2015). That is definitely a contradiction in terms and represents scholarly

Utilizing the culture care theory, nurses become knowledgeable of what constitutes health in understanding the meanings and symbols of the ways of
culture. Care, caring knowledge, and actions are core components that will ensure the health or wellbeing of people in various cultures. Kaakinen et al

systems.
Metaparadigm 4: Nursing
Nurses must consider the cultural health practices when assessing patients. The Culture Care Theory is essential and must be incorporated into other
nursing theories as understanding cultures and cultural practices will enable nurses to think critically and function at full capacity when interacting and
creating treatment plans for patients in a diverse environment. Selection of Culture Care Theory and the Master's Track The Culture Care Theory was
selected because it is important for nurses to embrace, understand, and have an open–mind when it comes to assessing patients, understanding their
cultural backgrounds, and creating treatment plans that will promote health amongst the patients. Being biased, judgmental, and narrow–minded are
not indicative of the Culture Care Theory. Implementing the Culture Care Theory within the Master's

Introduction
Traditional healers also known as curanderismo are important part of Latin American culture, society and a way of life. Traditional healers have
been a part of Latin American culture for thousands of years and even today are considered as important as the traditional health care professionals
(Avila, 1999). The services of these healers are used extensively and they are well respected and admired members of the community. Not anyone

Spirituality and religion go hand in hand because as it was mentioned above healing powers are considered the unique gift one has received from some
higher entity and thus religion plays very important role in the work of traditional healers.
What Exactly Do Traditional Healers Do?
Remarkably just like any health care professionals, traditional healers in Latin America also have their own specializations and areas of practice.
While some have very narrow and specific areas, such are herbalists or midwives for example; others often have been trained in various specialties
and can provide the "full package care" (Trotter & Chavira, 1997). Regardless of the specialty every traditional healer always considers the illness as a
complex manifestation of problems in physical, emotional and spiritual planes.
Traditional healers use variety of means in their practices. They prepare various mixtures, lotions, potions, oils and other substances for consumptions
or for external use. But the substances are only the part of the practice. There are many rituals, offerings and prayers that constitute healing practices.
The rituals could be very elaborate and include other objects and things such as for example birds' eggs, or water or fire. All these things are believed
to be important components in the healing process and are more often than not part of the ritual. Healers often give their clients various

Wedding day is the most important day for couples. But for Vietnamese people the wedding ceremony is not only important for couple but also for both
families. I would like to share with everybody about Vietnamese traditional wedding. Most Vietnamese traditions and cultures have influenced by
Chinese culture until today, so the wedding ceremony is also affected. Unlike the Western culture, in Vietnam after the bride was proposed by the
groom, groom and his family have to go to the bride's home to ask for wedding. The wedding ceremony is only carried out with the consent of the
bride and the groom family. Based on tradition and religion, marriage is organized according to different rituals. There are two main ceremonies are
betrothal ceremony and wedding ceremony. I will talk about the first main part is the betrothal ceremony. The betrothal day is the day that the groom's
family would go to bride's home with the gift of betel and areca to officially ask permission to receive the bride. Betel and areca are the special image
of the couple, indispensable in the traditional betrothal ceremony. At that time, bride's family would confirm and pick a good day for wedding. For
the Vietnamese, harmony between yin and yang is a very important factor. Choosing the wedding day will be based on the lunar calendar with age,
date of birth of the bride and groom. This choice will be decided by the monks, or by the eldest of the two families. The wedding

The Indigenous Peoples Of Canada
The Indigenous Peoples of Canada as a community were violated in numerous ways including colonization. The prolonged transgression of the
Indigenous Peoples has left them in arguably the worst environmental, educational, social and economic state in the Nation decades after initial contact
(Canadian Population Health Initiative, 2004). As a direct result traditions pertaining to all aspects of Indigenous life were affected, specifically
traditional means of health. In an attempt to figuratively breathe new life into a wounded community, efforts have been made to bring back the ways of
Aboriginal midwifery in Nunavut, QuГ©bec and Ontario. Facilities in said provinces have been established to provide culturally safe care, putting to
use ancestral medicine and qualified First Nation midwives. The current health statistics and feedback received after introducing these types of
facilities have been positive in improving health care for Aboriginal women, and also positively bringing about a sense of cultural revival.
Statistical State of the Nation
Health wise the Indigenous population of Canada have been found to have a much higher rate of major health problems in comparison to the
non–Indigenous populations. Rates of cardiovascular disease, obesity, arthritis and hypertension are all higher than non–Aboriginal Canadian rates (
First Nations and Inuit Reginal Health Survey, 1999). The Indigenous population comprised of 4.3% of the population in 2011 but accounted for 12.2%

From our research, the percentage of revenue of home videos was almost three times higher than the box office, which shows that the use of animation
in the movie industry was not as popular at that time. 2–D animation was the traditional way to produce a movie and was also used for most movies
before 3–D animation came out. Therefore, 3–D animation technology still has a lot of room for improvement and development which is one of the
opportunities. More information on SWOT analysis is stated in the appendix from Figure 1.
Disney would only want to acquire Pixar given the benefits outweigh the costs and not vice versa. Knowing the different costs and benefits is crucial
in making this decision. First, Disney would be able to get access to Pixar's proprietary 3–D computer animation software technology at lower cost than
Disney to develop the similar technology themselves. Pixar's software programs are revolutionary compared to the traditional 2–D animation. These
programs gave Pixar the capability to reduce the time of making animation. Therefore, this capability provides Pixar a substantial cost advantage while
other studios that used 2–D animation require huge time investment and large staff of drawers. Through acquisition, Disney could focus on its
advantage on creating the colorful storyline and characters, which are the core factors to make high quality films.

Uncertainty avoidance reflects the extent to which a society accepts uncertainty and risk. It shows how much members of a society are anxious about
the unknown, and as a consequence, attempt to cope with anxiety by minimizing uncertainty. In cultures with strong uncertainty avoidance, people

In cultures with weak uncertainty avoidance, people prefer implicit or flexible rules or guidelines and informal activities. Employees tend to change

Legalism and Confucianism form the fundamental basis of traditional Chinese culture and has exercised extensive influence over Chinese domestic

and effective administration in all forms of social and legal affairs. The amalgamation of two prominent Chinese philosophies amounted to immense
success by creating a framework of domestic laws that was a partnership between the Confucian orthodox ideology and a structurally Legalist state.

How Traditional Anishinaabe Medicine Can Be Integrated...
When the culture of the Anishinaabe, or Ojibwe, people were suppressed when colonization began in the Americas, their medical practices were as
well. In an effort to preserve the Ojibwe culture as well as establish effective treatment options for people living on reservations as well as members of
Ojibwe communities, Anishinaabe cultures should be incorporated into the clinical setting.
When working with different cultures in a health environment, it is necessary to have an understanding of that culture as different perspectives and
values will have an effect on their medical care. Therefore, an understanding of Anishinaabe medicinal practices is crucial when considering the
prevention and treatment of illnesses in the Anishinaabe community. Since traditional methods are not practiced in American healthcare, how
information is perceived in the population as well as inclination to comply with different treatments are affected. How traditional practices can be
incorporated in a Western healthcare setting as well as the challenges that exist in doing so will be evaluated.
To begin to assess the different ways that traditional Anishinaabemedicine can be integrated into Western medicine, how the Anishinaabe culture was
affected by colonization must be discussed. The cause of an illness is fundamental to determine how to treat it. There are two kinds of illnesses that
differ in how they are treated as well as their etiology.

Traditional Culture Vs. Lean In Health Care

  • 1. Traditional Culture Vs. Lean In Health Care Lean culture is the "combination of defining customer value, aligning around a common purpose, striving for perfection while at the same time respecting and developing employees" (O'Rourke, 2017). A Lean culture is an important component of a lean program. It serves as the framework in which lean tools and techniques are utilized. Without a receptive culture, the lean principles will fail. Leaders must champion a lean environment aligned with the mission, vision and values of the healthcare organization. In addition, leaders are tasked with creating an organization culture that is receptive to lean thinking (Going Lean in Health Care, 2005). A lean culture differs in many ways from traditional organizational culture. Since the traditional and lean way vary widely, a conversion requires re–conditioning of all those involved. The following table shows the differences between a traditional and lean culture. Table 1. Traditional Culture versus Lean Culture. (Going Lean in Health Care, 2005). A successful and sustainable lean culture requires new behaviors that start at the very top of the organization. Leadership can drive the Lean culture change process by setting the behavioral expectations. The behavior and actions will only produce a culture change if they are modeled from top to bottom. Leaders must remain committed to the process as a new way of doing business (Rubrich, 2017). They must constantly drive the same message, involve everyone and guide the cultural ... • 3. Methods and Myths of Traditional African Medicines and its... Methods and Myths of Traditional African Medicines and its Place in Modern Society Traditional African medicines, and the spiritual healers that administer these medicines are an important part of African society. For many centuries and even millenniums these healers with there spiritual and naturalistic remedies have been responsible for taking care of the African world as we know it. Traditional African medicines have been a greater help to all of society and modern science, but still lie at the root of much controversy over its ability to be a valid healing tool. Some doctor's and scientist believe that a possible placebo effect may be the root of what makes these remedies and rituals work; but there is also evidence that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Becoming a traditional healer requires an intense amount of SBA, an ancient Kemetic word meaning teaching, learning, wisdom, and study, or overall deep thought(1). In fact, the process of learning to become a healer consist of a very high level of learning; it is necessary that every healer be taught properly, in order for him or her to be able to share his knowledge properly with the forthcoming generation. For the aspiring healer, one must first become a good learner and listener before one can become a good teacher; the two concepts of teaching and learning are intertwined, one hand washes the other. Once this level of SBA is reached as a healer, the whole world is seen in a different light so says Asa G. Hilliard. III. Sounds are heard that no one can hear, visions that no one else can see are seen by the healer. After his training the healer walks through the same world every person walks through. But he sees signs others just don't see. He hears sounds others don't hear. The same tree that just stands there dumbly to everyone, to the healer its leaves have something to say. The healer learns the meaning of the river's sound, of the sounds of the forest animals. And when he needs the curing spirit from a plant , if his eyes are well prepared , he may see from a great distance some small sign of a leaf that is ready ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Traditional Medicine And Alternative Medicine Before we get into what exactly African Traditional Medicine is we have to talk about what exactly Traditional Medicine is in general. Traditional Medicine is often referred to as folk medicine or alternative medicine. Folk Medicine is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of a health care system in Africa and has been tested time and time again. This method is an ancient form of healing that humans have used to cope and deal with many diseases that have threatened human existence. Which explains why Traditional Medicine is so broad and diverse. Different cultures have developed different forms of homegrown healing methods which explains why there is no universally accepted definition to the term of Traditional Medicine (Traditional Medicine). "According to the World Health Organization, Traditional Medicine is "the sum total of the knowledge, skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health, as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illnesses." Traditional healer, on the other hand, is "a person who is recognized by the community where he or she lives as someone competent to provide health care by using plant, animal and mineral substances and other methods based on social, cultural and religious practices"" (Traditional Medicine). • 5. Traditional Tales As A Reflection Of Culture Traditional tales are a reflection of the culture in which they are told due to various aspects such as their concern with goddesses, gods, and other supernatural creatures that relate to humans. The importance of myths being traditional tales and a reflection of culture displays the civilization and society of a myth and its truths. Human culture conserves historical records through the human language. It is known that humans were passing oral stories soon after they developed the ability of speech, resulting in important supernatural events and dates to be told before the present day, though they are accepted as "imaginative creations similar to Greek tragedies.". 1P. Ian. Myth in the Ancient World (Palgrave, 2012), p. 11. They also do not have a known author, which results in the inevitability of multiple versions of a specific story being told. By means of this, ancient traditions reflected numerous elements of culture. A substantial amount of the traditional tales have been rewritten in various forms and have also become printed literature. The tales are extremely important within a society because it carries culture in which is a reflection of a certain society. Due to this, myths express many differences such as social practices, the beliefs of the creators, and the wisdom behind each story. This allows us to understand that there is much more to myths than inspiration and entertainment, in fact, they express the spiritual truths of mankind. Albeit the fact that ... • 6. The Maoree Culture Of Traditional Maori Culture In The... The characters in the film Whale Rider choose how they will incorporate traditional Maori culture into their modern life. ––– Whale Rider is set in a small New Zealand coastal village inhabited by Maoris who claim descent from Paikea, the Whale Rider. For 1,000 years a male heir of the Chief has become leader of the tribe. At the beginning of the film, the wife of Porourangi, the Chief's eldest son, dies in childbirth along with the male twin she was carrying. The surviving child, a girl, is given the name of Pai, the traditional name given to the male child. Porourangi is grief stricken and departs for Europe, leaving Pai to be brought up by her grandparents, Koro and Nanny Flowers. Koro loves Pai, but won't accept her as Chief. He is convinced that the troubles of the tribe are attributable to Pai aspiring to be leader. He tries unsuccessfully to train the other boys in the tribe for the role. Far out at sea a school of whales respond to Pai's calls for guidance. They swim to the village but become beached. Symbolically the tribe will die. Only Pai is willing to make the sacrifice to save her people, and because of this Koro accepts her leadership. Koro refuses to accept Pai as leader despite her repeatedly showing herself to be more capable than any of the boys. We see her challenging the old ways, and undertaking the gruelling demands of traditional warrior practice. It is she who goes into the sea to bring back Koro's prize possession. The casting of ... • 7. The Consumer's Perception on Herbalism An average consumer, named Greg, enters a pharmacy looking for medication to clear up his common cold. Normally, Greg would just grab some cough syrup and lozenges and not think twice about it. But now his pharmacy not only offers traditional medications such as Acetaminophen or Pseudoephedrine but they also offer combinations of herbs such as peppermint for coughing or eucalyptus for a nasal decongestant. How does Greg decide between the herbal remedy and the traditional pharmaceutical medicine? How will he know if the herbal combination will actually work or be safe for him? These are the kind of questions most consumers ask themselves when faced with this dilemma. Well first, Greg falls under one of the "many people [who] use complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for diп¬Ђerent health problems such as anxiety, or allergic disorders, as well as minor ailments or chronic diseases", in his case the common cold (Freymann et al. 13). Second, in current society, the trend to be "organic" or "natural" is pushing consumers, like Greg, to approach the already established idea of herbalism or other alternative medicinal methods, therefore making the choice of the herbal remedy a possible candidate for him by societal pressures. Third, Greg is unaware of any of the health risks that could occur with either medicine options. Any of these points make the decision for either medicine an uneducated choice that could come with health repercussions, even if it just for a common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Traditional Native American Culture Long before the white man "discovered" America, people have already been living here. These people are known as the Native Americans. As the settlers came to the native land, they brought firm beliefs with them that ended up causing great conflicts with the native people. It was clear that the travelers and the native people could not live among one another since the native people has their own set of values and they were much different than the white man's beliefs. Traditional Lakota spirituality is a form of religious belief that each thing, plant and animal has a spirit. The traditional Native American community was a small group of related families. Each community included a headman, a man would accomplish this position of leadership by demonstrating characteristics valued by the group, such as generosity, wisdom, fortitude, and spiritual power gained through dreams and visions. The Natives felt that the more isolated and rural the population was the more traditional it tended to be. Fraternal societies were also significant within the community life. The eastern areas are described by fields, deltas, and hills, the highest point being the largest mountain in the world; Mount Everest. China is also the most populous country on earth. • 10. The Conflict Between Modern And Traditional Culture The conflict between modern and traditional culture continues to have a significant impact on people with strong cultural beliefs. In "Dead Men's Path", Chinua Achebe uses literary elements of setting, symbolism, conflict and irony to analyze the theme of cultural conflict between people with modern values and traditional culture. To set the background, Achebe begins the story with a twenty–six years old young man being elected as a principal of a rural school located in a village in Nigeria during British colonization in the first month of 1949. He sets the mood beginning with happiness, as the protagonist Michael Obi receives the new assignment as principal of the school and enthusiastically prepares for the new school year, and ends the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To further enhance the story, Achebe intentionally chooses the harmful allamanda vine to fence the sacred path of the residents to symbolize alienation. Scientifically, allamanda vines have bountiful yellow pompon with a delicate scent and are used for decoration mostly to cover large areas. Besides the beautiful aspect of the flower, the plant contains a toxic substance that if consumed it can be deadly. It is conspicuous, why this plant was used to cover the sacred path. To the contrary of allamanda vine, the author chooses "beautiful hibiscus" (Achebe 11) to symbolize another aspect of cultural difference and the need to harmonize the two together. Hibiscus is a graceful plant with beautiful red flower heads signifying unity and peace. It is understandable, that is the author's desire to convey the message of the importance of unity among cultures. In like manner, both the hibiscus and allamanda vine, are extrinsic floras comparing to the local "neighborhood bushes." (Achebe 11) It is the author's way of using the shrubs as a symbol of cultural difference. In relation to the flower images, Achebe uses the path symbolic image to signify the meaning of the divine connection between the "village shrine" (Achebe 11) and their descendants. For the villagers, the pathway is a sacred path to which they remain connected with their dead families. To shortly mention, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Chinese Traditional Culture Influences On The Outdoor... 2.1.2.The Chinese Traditional Culture influences on the Outdoor Leisure and the Nature As for the definition of "nature", western definition of nature is in its literal meanings embodied in wildness e.g. natural landscape and wild things, which is intact from human interventions, while unlike Western culture's definition of nature, Chinese traditional culture emphasizes the coexistence between human and nature. Leisure (xiu xian) in the ancient Chinese study will uncover the relationship between ancient Chinese and their relationships with nature. Chinese xiuxian would be the most appropriate explanation for the western word leisure, the characters of "Xiu and Xian (дј‘,й—І)" from its literally speaking that they represent the ancient Chinese understandings for the nature ( people rest beneath the tree), only through nature could human being rest and relax. The concept of leisure also contains harmonious relationships between human beings and nature, with humans being considered part of nature. Thus, the nature should not be offended by human beings, but we should take the reverence and references or clues from nature to be natural. Going through ancient history, the Chinese ancestors used the term Tian di (heavens and the earth) to mean nature and treated them as divine. The earth receives the seeds of the five grains and cares for the six domestic animals, enabling people to live in abundance, while the heavens bestow sunlight and rain, as well as the cyclic four ... Change is when existing practices are heavily integrated. This is a reflection of belief in the practices a population is to using, and the faith in the herbalists as well as their remedies. This faith is grown through knowledge about the local plant life and the actions created by applying these cures. Zevin shares the importance of study and adaptation of various traditions which the Russians were exposed to. The geographical setting which allowed the wide cultural access led to "unique features and advantages" not found anywhere else. In Russia, adjustments to modern medical practices were slow to be accepted and can be seen today. There is an inherent distrust of non–traditional healing reinforced by modern medicine that is combated by cultural faith in and the efficacy of traditional herbal remedies. There are those that resist change despite practical evidence. By incorporating existing beliefs change occurs faster and more easily than if a new system is decreed.
