5. CIRCUIT BREAKER
• Circuit Breaker is the heart of the switch gear.
• It is a mechanical switching device which is
capable of making (Closing), breaking
(Opening) and carrying current in power
system under normal and abnormal conditions.
• Relay is a sensing device which sense the fault
current and send signal to circuit breaker to
open thus clears the fault.
