Nurses Are Responsible For Numerous Things From Dispensing...
In general, nurses are responsible for numerous things from dispensing medication to keeping a
watchful eye on the patient's condition. This also includes keeping all paperwork and records up–to–
date and being the line of communication between the doctor, the patient and the family involved.
At times, nurses are even responsible for providing instruction and overseeing the work of aides and
assistants. Nurses also provide care beyond the physical healthcare work they do. For instance,
nurses offer emotional support for the patient and his/her family. These dedicated healthcare
professionals also ensure patients and their families understand the illness, how to manage the
illness (any special dietary needs or medications), and finally, of ... Show more content on

Upon watching the video on the Angola Prison Hospice I became more aware of the importance of
the role of nurses/healthcare professionals in this particular setting. The healthcare professionals and
volunteers of the hospice program play an imperative role in providing not only care in terms of
temporary pain relief or for terminal patients, daily medications, but also care in terms of
humanizing the patients in the prison; not treating them in regards to their crimes, but treating them
with the same morality and thoughtfulness that they would any patient and Roach's 6 C's serves as a
foundation to those behaviors. As a volunteer or healthcare professional in the Angola Prison
Hospice I would implement the use of Roach's 6 C's through my everyday behaviors at work.
Roach's first "C" is compassion. We are all human beings and regardless of whether one is a patient
in a prison hospital or a patient in a children's hospital, we are naturally inclined to put ourselves in
that person's shoes and relate to their pain. By showing empathy towards my patient and their
family, that enables me to build a rapport with my patient and his/her family and open a line of trust
and communication between us. Relating to my patient and understanding his/her pain and
discomfort allows me to place myself in a position to further express my compassion. I would
refrain from judging my patient on the nature of his/her crimes because I personally, believe in
forgiveness.

Culinary And Social Culture Of New Orleans Essay
For more than two centuries, coffee has long been a fundamental part of the culinary and social
culture of New Orleans.
It's not just the city's penchant for chicory café au lait served alongside warm beignets. Nor is it just
landmark gathering spots like Café du Monde or Morning Call Coffee Stand that spawned the
notion of the laborers' coffee break and served locals and tourists for generations. And it isn't solely
boozy Café Brulôt, the brandy–spiked coffee drink New Orleans families serve in slender china cups
that makes New Orleans a true coffee town.
Alongside these the gustatory expressions is the city's historic and long–standing role in the coffee
trade. New Orleans has been a significant coffee port for more than 200 years. Since the early 19th
century, import companies have brought in green coffee beans from around the world through the
Port of New Orleans. Today, it is the second–largest coffee port in the country.
Among those importers, Westfeldt Brothers Inc. is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States.
The company was first founded in Mobile, Alabama, in 1851 by Swedish Vice Consul Gustavus
Adolphus George Westfeldt, who had immigrated to the U.S. in 1835. Westfeldt moved to New
Orleans in 1853. By 1880, his company had become one of the country's principal green coffee
importers. Since then, it has been run by six generations of Westfeldts.
The latest generation is the first to be represented by a woman. Shelby Westfeldt Mills, Alabama,

Family Resource Centers Essay
Family Resource Centers
Half the children in this country live in homes in which one or both parents work. Twelve million
children in this country do not have health insurance, and over 4.5% of all children are victims of
suspected child abuse or neglect (Doktor and Poertner). Believe it or not, these are all indicators of
the demand for Family Resource Centers within our school systems. Many question whether Family
Resource Centers are worth the money the state pours into them. However, in serving students,
parents and teachers, there should be no question of their significance. Due to The Kentucky
Education Reform Act in the early 1990's we have seen the development of Family Resource
Centers in Kentucky, and they are fulfilling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an interview with David Messer (operator of the Olive Hill Family Resource Center) I learned
that the resource centers say, " Our mission with children is to help remove the physical,
educational, and social barriers in order to see them succeed in school." and that " Our mission with
parents is to empower them with resources and skill needed to meet the challenges in life." The
mission statement of the resource centers may vary according to the area, but most followed the
same concept. Growing up in a school system with Family Resource Centers, I must agree that they
live up to their mission statement. They try to remove education barriers by offering tutoring,
physical barriers by offering special education or medical assistance, and social barriers by
providing students with anything to help them not stand out in the crowd.
Family Resource Centers have a unique structure. Referring back to the Orientation Guide for
Newly Employed FR/YSC Coordinators published by MSU's College of Education, Like any
program, they have a director that is the supervisor over everything in the program for example
keeping track of the funding and programs offered and the staff. In addition to the director you have
the advisory councils. This group advises, councils and assists the center and it encourages
interaction among the community, the school and the center. It consists of ten to twenty members
that are made up of students, parents,

Essay Penn State Scandal
The Jerry Sandusky case had a major impact on Penn State. It affected both academics and athletics
in a major way. In this essay I will discuss the situation that occurred and the impact that the social
media had on this once great school. Jerry Sandusky is a retired American football coach. He was
the assistant coach at Pennsylvania State University under the legendary Joe Paterno for 30 years.
He was the defensive coordinator for the football team. He is also the founder of The Second Mile.
The Second Mile is a non–profit organization that serves underprivileged youth. This is where Jerry
Sandusky had met many of his victims. On November 5th, 2011, Jerry Sandusky was arrested and
charged with 52 counts of sex crimes against young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

following the Penn State child sex abuse scandal. Tim Curley was the athletic director for Penn State
and Gary Schultz was the Vice President. After it was revealed that they failed to report the incident
to authorities, both of these men were fired by the board. The FBI had stated that after conducting an
investigation that these senior officials had known about Sandusky's actions as early as 1998 and
had failed to disclose this information to authorities. On October 9, 2012, Jerry Sandusky was
sentenced to a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 60 years in prison. Spanier, Curley, and
Schultz have been charged with grand jury perjury, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and child
endangerment in association with the scandal. Paterno and McQueary never had any charges pressed
on them because they did what they were obligated to do. McQueary had reported the incident to his
superior which is Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno also reported the incident to his superior who is Curley
and Schultz. This whole situation caused a huge reaction nationwide. The media had criticized the
University for being so irresponsible. Many radio stations and newspapers harshly criticized the
school for this scandal. Many people had criticized McQueary for not protecting the child that was
being raped by Sandusky. The media criticized him for not protecting the child and reporting it to

Elderly Population Rehabilitation
"You actually create victims by not letting elderly prisoners go and use your resources on
rehabilitation for the ones that are going to get out...When I came here and saw the elderly
population, I said "Why are they here? Our name is corrections to correct deviant behavior, but
there's nothing to correct in the guys; they're harmless." – Burl Cain, warden of Louisiana state
penitentiary at Angola. Experts say that the growth of the elderly inmate population is and will
continue to grow. There are several reasons for the dramatic increase of the elderly population. First,
the growth of older prisoners reflects, in general, the continual aging of society as a whole.
According to the Federal interagency forum on Aging–Related Statistics, ... Show more content on

This is mostly for the physical, psychological, and social needs of the elderly population. Some
activities, such as chair aerobics, adult basics education, and GED classes are provided as part of the
program, as well as bingo, shuffleboard, horseshoe, and a walking program. In some facilities, they
provide assistance to elderly inmates so that they can apply for social security, Medicare benefits,
and a health care education program. In seven states, they have housing units reserved for the
elderly inmates. The reason for this is due to their special medical needs or their eligibility for
hospice care. For example, the Minnesota correctional facility for older prisoners has a dedicated
housing unit for inmates within the age range of fifty–five and older with chronic health problems
(Abner). Nurses are provided for them sixteen hours a day (Abner). Angola state penitentiary in
Louisiana is one of the many prisons that offer hospice care for inmates in their final stages of
terminal illnesses. In numerous states, they have what is called "compassionate release programs."
For some reason, it is hardly used due to the fact that most of the older prisoners die while in prison
or literally have no where to go, so they decided to remain imprisoned. Some are released under
medical reprieve, a supervised release program for prisoners who are considered a low–risk for re–
offending. Due to the population growth amongst elderly prisoners, along with the fact that they are
getting sicker and sicker as they age, the cost toward the state that these prisoners require will

Huey P. Long 's Speech
Huey P. Long's speech was judged based on his practices as a Louisiana senator and governor,
however it had the potential to be so much more had he lived to continue his legacy. People
appeared to be afraid of how Governor Long operated within the legislative system of Louisiana
because of the fact that, he tended to find his way around legal statutes that hindered his agenda.
Some could argue that he stepped out of the bounds of power that reigns in a representative of a
democratic nation, however he wound up being one of the most effective public servants in the
country. Amidst the Great Depression, Governor Long gave Louisiana 's economy a huge lift with
the vast construction of bridges, schools, and roads. In fact the state of Louisiana has not had
anything close to such an economic boost as to what Huey p. Long offered since that time. As time
has passed, Louisiana has become infamous for its lack of proper public education, especially
regarding grades one through twelve. This lack of proper education has become constantly
associated with the state since Huey Long's assassination. Despite the controversy over how Long
executed his political agenda, it cannot be refuted on how productive and beneficial his reign was
for the state.
For instance, in Huey P Long's speech directed towards the entirety of the United State's population
vied for the spread of wealth around the country. Initially he proclaimed how absurd it was that
nearly a dozen men owned more monetary

The And Gold Tour Bus From Louisiana State University
On Losing Everything
This past week I saw that purple and gold tour bus from Louisiana State University in my town, not
only surprising me but also forcing me to think back on my childhood in the south. Growing up in
southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day's notice.
Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and animals
alike. Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the midst of
that wreckage. My family and I were living in a small, close–knit community, named St. Amant,
about an hour west of New Orleans. On the third day of the hurricane, my family experienced a loss
greater than we could have ever imagined. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In no way do I mean to trivialize the severe and deadly effects hurricanes can potentially bring, but
not all hurricanes are the same. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually lost
strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation from
school, and the parents got a much–needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone in
Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a laid back
state, due to its French roots. The catch–phrase for the state was always "Laissez Les Bon Temps
rouler," or "Let the good times roll!" So, it's easy to see why the media portrayed Louisianan's as
"not caring" about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we were just expecting
much less than what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that people from California
have been through many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but would you stop living your life
for a small earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My family tried to be as prepared as we
possibly could, but there is only so much money to go around buying things for situations that might
not even happen. My dad purchased our first gasoline generator earlier that year which sadly put a
dent into our emergency savings. Nevertheless, we had enough supplies, water, and food to last
about a week if necessary. From my memories, about a week

Football fans and dreamers all over the United States universally favor Louisiana State University.
Many young people aspire to become an LSU Tiger. Some of them aim to become a Louisiana State
University football player, while others desire to become a member of the popular LSU cheerleading
squad. Claire Walpole, a varsity cheerleader at Weston High School, was able to fulfill a dream that
she had for an exceptionally long time. She had the chance to cheer with the Louisiana State

the only one in that field," Claire said; she could barely contain herself in her seat.
"Once the music began, I was fortunate enough to hit every beat. It was amazing. My cheer coach
was extremely proud of my whole squad. I was proud of myself as well." As Claire stated this, her
eyes seemed to light up with joy.
After that moment was over, Claire decided right there and then at that moment that she would one

day I could may become a Tiger myself and maybe an LSU cheerleader on top of that."
Although Claire was already passionate about being a cheerleader, that day her love for the sport

this to try to give others the same chance that she was blessed enough to receive. She will always be

Huey Lewis Musical Career
Hugh Anthony Cregg III, better known by his stage name of Huey Lewis was born in New York
City in 1950. He is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Huey Lewis is perhaps best known as
the leader of of Huey Lewis & The News, one of the most popular musical groups of 1980s. Apart
from singing he is also known as an actor who has appeared in movies like "Duets" with Gweneth
Paltrow, "Short Cuts" and "Sphere". So just how rich is Huey Lewis? Sources have estimated that
Huey has a net worth of $20 million, collected basically from his musical career, as well as from his
acting occupation. Lewis grew up in Marin County, California. His father was a jazz drummer and
radiologist, and his mother, a commercial artist. He was only 13 years old when his parents broke up
. He attended and in 1967 graduated from New Jersey's Lawrenceville School. Lewis was a talented
student and for his genius/charisma got an admission to the Cornell University, New York. However
,he took a pause and traveled across USA, focusing mostly on improvement of his musical skills.

Huey Pierce Long: A Man Of Power In The 1920's
Huey Pierce Long Junior, a well–known name in many Louisiana and even other south–eastern
homes, was a man of power in the 1920's. Growing up in a rural and poor family of nine, him being
the seventh, was not easy. But being the outspoken person he was from a young age, he stood out.
Using that to his advantage, he managed to take an unofficial private bar exam without so much as a
high school graduate diploma. Then at age 30, he was already running for Governor of Louisiana.
Although his first campaign for Governor in 1924 was unsuccessful that did not deter him. He even
went as far to say that had there not been rains before the polls he would have won, but the rains
made his rural voters unable to vote because the unpaved roads were not drivable. This issue would
later be something he worked strongly to fix. But Long ran for Governor of Louisiana again in 1928,
during this campaign he promised good roads, good bridges, and even free healthcare. After his
many speeches, promises, and campaigns he won the political position of Governor of Louisiana. ...

they were fortunate enough to be released they were treated with no respect by the public. But
during Long's career he worked hard to better these institutions. He abolished torturous therapies
such as chaining patients to their chairs in plow stocks. He then provided modern therapy that was
much more beneficial to the patients. He also built institutions for mentally disabled children and
epileptics. All this along with building new institutions and renovating the old ones, he totally

Change In Education
Over the years, different things evolve and change from what society is used to. For example,
devices were introduced to have a conversation with people miles away; however, as time
continued, individuals were able to talk without a wire restricting them from walking out of the
kitchen. Over the decades, the style in males and females changed drastically as well. Although
people say change is good, some change might have virtuous intentions but they end up being
severely detrimental. Colleges should not interfere with the constant flow of education by
incorporating a distraction from learning; however, college officials should merely strive for their
students to be comfortable not pampered. Louisiana State University installed a lazy ... Show more

Regardless if she is biased or not, a pool in the shape of LSU that has a steady current does not

believe the new lazy river will encourage people to go home and study for exams or finish degrees.
The lazy river may influence individuals to apply there, but that does not guarantee the academic
savvy students to attend college there. A lazy river is deeming the college to be more along the lines
of a water park. Baton Rouge has plenty of relaxing places to be sociable and restore wellbeing
including: the huge water park called Blue Bayou, the numerous beauty salons, and the countless

didn't want to go to a school that provides everything. I want to be independent, live on my own, the

students feel as if they are having their independence ripped away from them. One may feel
dependent on the college, because while they are going to school they are spoiled. Once he or she

The Effects Of Huey Long 's Bills Affecting Our State
Has anyone here ever stopped and wondered why LSU is the size it is today or why there never
seems to be a shortage of schools wherever you go in the state. Whether you have or not, these are
both causes of Huey Long's bills affecting our state, also known as the reign of the Kingfish. Huey
Pierce Long was born on August 30, 1893, in the town of Winnfield located in Winn Parish to Mrs.
Caledonia Long and Mr. Huey Long, Sr. The young Huey was the seventh of nine children (his
younger siblings being named Earl and Lucille), and he lived the life of a farmer's child. Although
he lived in an environment that offered little time for leisure or even education, Huey's parents
emphasized education in each of their children's lives along with individual expression and
competition. The family was also a group of astute Christians with their daily Bible studies,
attending church twice a week, and frequent attendance to gospel revivals.
As Huey grew, there was no school for him to go too. Therefore, his mother home–schooled him
with his eight siblings until a formal education was accessible. While being homeschooled, Huey
studied penmanship, writing, math, history, classic literature, and poetry along with the Bible being
the mainstay of his teachings. By age eleven, Long started going to a public school in fourth grade.
He was far ahead and bored by the teachings. He eventually persuaded his teacher to let him skip
seventh grade. He further continued onto the completion of

Student Athletes Should Be Paid Analysis
For student athletes at major institutions such as Louisiana State University, they offer scholarships
to young men and women to apply their athletic talents. For football players a scholarship valued at
eight thousand dollars per year falls pitifully short for what should be fair compensation. Louisiana
State University's football team generates millions annually. As a self supporting university,
Louisiana Sate University football team generates enough funding to support all men and women's
sports teams, but also renders a profit to the university. According to Talal Elmasry who works in

or at the very least life altering is extremely high. The revenue alone has allowed the university to

Racial Diversity
Racial diversity should be facilitated into nationwide colleges and universities. A percentage of these
institutions fail to have their racial demographics sufficiently proportioned to society in general. A
diverse institution can ideologically be explained as representing the traditional attitudes and values
of America; sufficiently different in regards to ethnicities. A diversity dilemma occurs when such
status is nonexistent. For instance, there is a school whose student body is composed of
unproportionate percentages of ethnicities, seventy–five percent other and twenty–five percent
Caucasian. It is a form of cultural deprivation to minority populations and ideal for one's culture to
be lost. Louisiana State University, an urban flagship university of Louisiana, is often criticized for
its lack of ethnic diversity. The university has unproportioned demographic ratios similarly
explained prior. Seventy–three percent of LSU's student body is composed of Caucasians, while the
other twenty–seven percent are blacks, Hispanics, Natives, etc. As a reaction to critics, LSU has
conveyed a sense of diversity through school promotions, from freshman admissions to student
involvement. Specifically, there is a student government advertisement that displays an apparent
attempt to show how potentially diverse LSU could be. The artifact is a visual of a demographically
inferior person leading a group of other ethnicities through a conversation. This image targets an

She became an animal scientist and a professor at the university. The protagonist, Temple Grandin,

which facilitates good communication and better understanding. She demonstrates the importance of
pictures in the mind of autisitc people and how powerful their visual skills can be. Another reason
why I think this movie is such a great, inspirational movie is because of how a woman with autism
can accomplish something so inspiring that shows people with autism shouldn't be viewed as
someone who can't do much or someone who doesn't have the skills and knowledge to do what
normal people can. Temple Grandin has probably made a big difference in what people think of ones
who have autism and I think that is great. Just because a person has autism doesn't necessarily mean
that people don't have autism should view them as someone lower than themselves. People with
autism are only stronger–willed and even though they may have difficulty with life, Temple Grandin
shows that it doesn't matter if you have autism or not because you can achieve your goals, you just

Education is a privilege not an obligation. Being blessed with the opportunity to apply for college,

is my aspiration to attend the university of my dream and be changed into a better version of myself
through the process of graduation; however, before that can happen, I must decide which school is
right for me. When I first started to research colleges, I came across LSU, Louisiana State
University, a large school with about 26, 156 undergraduates located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
(www.collegeboard.com). Due to the fact, my family was originally from Louisiana, LSU was a
household name for me. Though I was familiar with the university, I came to realize I actually knew
very little about the majors it offered as well as many other important factoids. For instance, I was
completely oblivious to their very high admission rate as well as their fairly low SAT and ACT
entrance scores. While most colleges have a baseline starting point of 1300 or higher out of 1600 for
SAT, most LSU applicants score between a 1100–1320 (collegeboard.com). As I did further research
on Louisiana State, I discovered they offered many of the majors I am interested in. LSU has "more

The Economic Impacts of Budget Cuts to the CSU and UC Systems
This paper will focus on the economic impacts of the policy decision by California Governor Brown
to decrease funding of the California State University and University of California systems by way
of looking at the impact on the economy of less college graduates. I will do this by looking at two
variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State
University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will
then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a
decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates
earn more money than their non–graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor
by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system
"the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates
are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF
International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied
by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship
isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still
be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality
might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than
$12.475 billion.
Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting
enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by
enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct
relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities
and is filled every semester. Enrollment is scheduled to decrease in

Livingston Ethics Lecture: "Put it in Writing: Planning is Not an Option"
On March 8th, Mr. G. Lee Griffin spoke to the college of business, faculty, students, and the
community at the annual ethics lecture put on by the College of Business. As always, the ethics
lecture was interesting, but Mr. Griffin's personality of honesty, humility, and sincerity made this
lecture stand out among some of the others. Married for 54 years, it was obvious Mr. Griffin was a
family man, led by his faith, which he said is what gave him the strength to do everything he
accomplished throughout the years.
He began the lecture by reviewing Louisiana's fiscal mess, discussing the 900 million dollars' worth
of revenue needed by July 1st, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But all of his setbacks led him to Louisiana where he graduated with his master's degree from LSU,
while meeting the love of his life, whom he married a few years later. After accepting a lower–
paying job in Louisiana to satisfy his soon to be father–in–law, Mr. Griffin worked his way up the
ladder until he eventually became the CEO of what is now Chase bank.
Through business and life, Mr. Griffin learned that there will always be setbacks and failures, but
there is always a way out. He said over and over again that honesty was the only way to do life and
business, and there was no excuse for any other behavior. He also discussed two types of plans,
strategic and operational plans, that must be in writing and that a company must have to succeed.
While telling us a story about when his bank almost collapsed, he told us that must never drop our
marketing budget.
Overall, Mr. Griffin was a delightful man who seemed truly good to his core. He spends his time

Louisiana State University Job Analysis
Our life is based on a series of complex decisions we have to make, some right and some wrong, but
even wrong decisions can motivate us. Two months before my college graduation, I personally
realized I made the wrong decision. One year earlier, I decided to become an elementary school
teacher. Due to tuition increasing, I decided not to change my major to education because I was
paying for school out of pocket.. My plan was to graduate in business and then pursue a teaching
certificate. Therefore, I did not apply for any internships or part–time jobs to gain work experience
in business. Although I was eager to be a teacher, I was still enjoying my business classes, especially
the human resource classes. My favorite class was Staffing, Compensation, and Employee
Development. Our semester assignment included simulation of a HR manager associated with a
prior employer. Recreating my experience in that company, I created a job ... Show more content on

My Life Day Essay : An Important Day
An Important Day It was just an average day in the life of a 5th grade kid who woke up having to go
to school. Little did I know I was going to come home to such a dramatic 30 minute experience that
could have made me a completely different person than who I am today. Every once in awhile I will
replay the sequence of events that happened on this day. It all started with a rough day at school. I
was not really the greatest kid back at my middle school. My day was me getting in trouble at school
and coming home to pretty upset parents. As soon as I stepped foot in the door, I asked my dad "Dad
let's go outside throw, and catch some ground balls. My dad as a kid was always tough on me cause
he knew it would pay off in the future of me playing the game I love. As we began to start I missed a
couple of ground balls so he kind of got on me and yelled at me. I eventually got so tired of him
getting on me that I said, " Dad I quit. I do not want to play baseball anymore!". By far the biggest
lie I have ever told in my life. We ended up going inside for dinner he began to tell me how I was
making a huge mistake. He began to tell me how this end friendships that would last forever. Which
at the time I did not believe, but once that I thought everything through he was right. I am now 17
years old and my best friend in my life right now was on that team so if I were to quit I would
probably not have him in my life. It was not just about friends either. If i were to quit I would not
have half of the memories that my dad and I still share to this day. All the tournaments, practices,
and most importantly the championships would not be in my memory if it was not for my dad
keeping me playing the game that I love. If time traveling was a real thing I would relive the ages 7–
14 over and over and over again. That is how much fun those years were. I would be miserable
without this game. If baseball was not in my life let's be honest, I would be nothing. It has done a lot
more for me than just a hobby. This game has taught me many lessons such as hard work and most
importantly dedication. These lessons have made such an impact on my life. I use these skills

Essay on Willie Stark as Huey Long
Robert Penn Warren's novel, All the King's Men depicts the tale of the rise of a political leader
named Willie Stark. Many readers have speculated that Warren based Willie Stark's character on
Huey Long, a controversial, political leader from Louisiana who was prominent during the early
1900s. Although Robert Penn Warren has "repeatedly denied that Willie Stark is a fictional portrait
of Huey Long," many aspects of the novel directly correlate to the political career and personal life
of Huey Long (Payne). Robert Penn Warren creates a character whose experiences and political
career directly correlate to the events in Huey Long's life. The speculations that Willie Stark is a

Huey Long was murdered by Dr. Carl Weiss, the son of a Judge Long, who Long was attempting to
remove from the bench (worldpress.com). According to a newspaper article covering Long's murder,
Weiss reportedly "fired a handgun at Long" in the State Capitol building on the evening of
September 8, 1935 (worldpress.com). Dr. Weiss's bullet "fatally [struck] him in the abdomen" but
death was not instant; Huey Long died two days after the shooting (worldpress.com). In the same
way as Huey Long was murdered, Stark is attacked by Adam Stanton after Adam who was offended
by the discovery of Willie and Anne's affair. Adam approaches Willie and "[puts] out his hand," but
instead of giving in a handshake like Jack had hoped, Adam shoots Willie (596). Jack watches as
"two little spurts of pale–orange flame from the muzzle of the weapon" are released, but Willie "did
not die there in the lobby under the dome" (598). Although Willie survives the attack in the Capitol
building, he dies the third day following his surgery to remove the bullets. Both assassinations, that
of Willie Stark and Huey Long are nearly identical. Both men were shot by a doctor in the Capitol
building, and both survived initially but died shortly after the event occurred. Clearly Robert Penn
Warren drew upon the shooting of Huey Long to create a similar situation in his novel. Each detail
correlates between the two situations with the exception of the number of days that

not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to
me. I've been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time."
From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio:
"He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family
reasons last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A
state championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992–94 and
returned to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27–12 record with 5A state quarterfinal
playoff runs in 2008 and 2009. He has a career coaching record of 105–70." (Sports Nola par. 2)

The Importance Of The Tower Of Pisa
The Tower of Pisa is a major cite in Italy due to its natural, but not intended, lean. The bell tower
stands at close to one hundred ninety feet tall with one side noticeable being shorter than the other.
The reason for the lean of the tower is due to the soil and weight distribution. The weight of the
building is so heavy and the soil itself was not very stable. (Urban Climatology). The stair case on
the inside of the bell tower is made of marble and took over three hundred years to be completely
built. Marble was a material that was used by ancient Greece that eventually ended up being used by
not only them, but the rest of the world also. Marble is a very smooth, hard substance that is usually
a sign of wealth. (Lezzerini). "Important to catch their dynamic response to natural actions in
general, and also to assess the effects due to pedestrian and users, and consequently to define
functional capabilities and levels of acceptable dynamic stress. The studied structure was subject to
artificial loading by synchronous movement of about 20 people." (Piroddi). This is stating that the
tower may have been affected with a lean due to people walking amongst it. Not only can soil and
the building itself have an impact on the buildings overall structure but people walking in it can also
dramatically affect it. Although the tower being on a lean is a fantastic thing to look at, its main
purpose was to be a bell tower for the near by cathedral. As the Tower of Pisa has a lean, it is

His career as an artist mainly started in 1951, he usually painted cowboys and Indians in various
modern art styles. In 1957 he tried his hand at Abstract Expressionism. What he is famous for
though is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse
in 1960 for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from
mass–produced, merchandising images. His comic–strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling,
are blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of
benday dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art
and abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact.
These painting made him famous and the first one–man show of his comic strip paintings was in
New York City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was
phenomenal. He has the distinction of being the first American artist to have an exhibition at
London's Tate Gallery. Lichtenstein continued in this area for a while, taking subjects from
sentimental
Romance magazines. He enclosed speeches in balloons and made landscapes in the
Comic–book style. He also dabbled in making statues during this time, which

The Effects Of Discrimination On International Students
The Effect of Discrimination on International Students
According to Institute of International Education organization, "The United States hosts more of the
world's 4.5 million globally mobile college and university students than any other country in the
world, almost double the number hosted by the United Kingdom, the second leading host country".
Hosting millions of international students who were in The United States in 2015. However,
international students faced many challenges when they arrive in The U.S., such as language,
culture, and unequal treatment due to as racism. Because international students faced discrimination,
that has a negative effect on their psychological.
In the United States' universities, Asian international students faced discrimination by the policy of
universities. In some American university, international students treated differently than American
students. According to Rhonda Sutton of North Carolina State University mentioned in his article
that at NC State University international student worked more hours than an American student – for

Essay on Kate Chopin and Edna Pontellier as Feminists
Kate Chopin and Edna Pontellier as Feminists
Kate Chopin is known for her literary works that depict culture in New Orleans, Louisiana, and of
women's struggles for freedom. She was born Katherine O'Flaherty in Missouri, and later married
Oscar Chopin in 1870. He was a Creole cotton trader from New Orleans. Later they moved to a
plantation near Cloutierville, Louisiana, where her husband died in 1882. She returned to Missouri
with her six children, and began her writing career. She began writing mostly "local color" stories
that earned her consideration as a contributor to Southern regional literature. She later began writing
stories about women's need for independence and capacity for passion, such as The Story of an Hour
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the women in America were advancing, those in state of Louisiana were not. At the time
the state operated under a different legal system than the rest of the country. Under the Louisiana
Civil Code, article 1388, a woman was still the legal property of her husband, and the male had
absolute (legal) control over the family. It also said, in article 1124, married women, babies, and the
mentally ill were incompetent in making a legal contract. (Herman, 53) Wives were possessions to
be cared for and displayed. They often brought a dowry or inherited wealth to a marriage.
Like most of Chopin's stories, The Awaking is set in the late 19th–century Creole society of the New
Orleans area. It is the story of a young woman's struggle to become herself. It concludes that the
complete freedom and happiness that she yearns for is not available to her in socially appointed
roles as a wife and mother. Edna Pontellier is married to her husband, Mr.Pontellier, "a person
whom she had married without love as an excuse" (McQuade, 1661). The story opens during
summer vacation at Grand Isle. This environment allows Edna to explore her own personality. It is
on the island that Edna begins her "awakening" to life. She first realizes her dissatisfaction with her
life. Then she learns the pleasure of swimming. It is on Grand Isle that she begins to feel sexual
attraction to Robert, although her awakening to sexuality occurs months later. Edna also

Chef John Folse was born on Cabanocey Plantation in St. James Parish, Louisiana in 1946. He was
brought up in a huge family of five brothers and two sisters by his father, Royley Folse, and mother,
Therese Zeringue Folse. His father was a plant manager of St. James Sugar Co–Op and the
Zeringues, his mother's family, were a long line of sugarcane farmers on Cabanocey Plantation.
They were all great cooks. He attended St. James High School and later Nicholls State University.
Being born in the Heart of Cajun country with the swamp floor pantry of the Gulf and Mississippi at
his disposal, he went on to be "Louisiana's Culinary Ambassador to the World." Chef Folse gained a
lot of experience throughout his career. In 1970, he got his first step into the food and beverage
industry at Howard Johnson's Restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After he worked in the hotel
business for many years he opened his first small restaurant in 1976. On July 14, 1978 he opened his

"Oranges" by Gary Soto Essay
"Oranges"
By Gary Soto
Gary Soto was born April 12, 1952, in Fresno, California to Mexican–American parents. His
grandparents emigrated from Mexico during the Great Depression and found jobs as farm laborers.
Soto grew up poor in the San Joaquin Valley and learned that hard work pays off through chores,
such as moving lawns, picking grapes, painting houses, and washing cars.
When Gary was five his father died as the result of a factory accident, and his mother was left to
raise her three children with the help of her parents. Soto describes his family as an "illiterate"
family. They did not have books and were not encouraged to read. In fact, Gary did not start writing
poetry until he was in college. He also is an author of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brightness shows how much power the orange actually has. The references in the story build up the
power of the orange.
Soto talks about sacrifice, and we all go through that. What we do to please other people. The boy
had to give up his orange because he didn't have enough money. He told his girlfriend that she can
chose any kind of candy found in the isle, and she chose a chocolate bar that cost a dime, now the
boy only had a nickel and a pair of oranges in his pocket. Instead of feeling embarrassed and cheep
in front of his new girl, the boy decided to put up the nickel and an orange on the counter for the
saleslady.
Oranges are rare in the winter and their encounter might be precious. They convey a powerful
feeling. Making fire in the hands represents that he is in love. That he feels God like, he feels tough
like he can do it all when he's around his girlfriend.
The tone of the poem is simple with broken down sentences. Adolescent love is simple much like
childhood love. There are the sweaty hands, heavy breathing, butterflies in the stomach, but when
kids fall in love, its not true love, it most likely is just a crush. The words that are used in the poem
are not complex but short and meaningful. When reading between the lines, and reading the poem
more than twice, it is much easier to put two and two together and have a better

Nurses Are Responsible For Numerous Things From Dispensing...

  • 1. Nurses Are Responsible For Numerous Things From Dispensing... In general, nurses are responsible for numerous things from dispensing medication to keeping a watchful eye on the patient's condition. This also includes keeping all paperwork and records up–to– date and being the line of communication between the doctor, the patient and the family involved. At times, nurses are even responsible for providing instruction and overseeing the work of aides and assistants. Nurses also provide care beyond the physical healthcare work they do. For instance, nurses offer emotional support for the patient and his/her family. These dedicated healthcare professionals also ensure patients and their families understand the illness, how to manage the illness (any special dietary needs or medications), and finally, of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon watching the video on the Angola Prison Hospice I became more aware of the importance of the role of nurses/healthcare professionals in this particular setting. The healthcare professionals and volunteers of the hospice program play an imperative role in providing not only care in terms of temporary pain relief or for terminal patients, daily medications, but also care in terms of humanizing the patients in the prison; not treating them in regards to their crimes, but treating them with the same morality and thoughtfulness that they would any patient and Roach's 6 C's serves as a foundation to those behaviors. As a volunteer or healthcare professional in the Angola Prison Hospice I would implement the use of Roach's 6 C's through my everyday behaviors at work. Roach's first "C" is compassion. We are all human beings and regardless of whether one is a patient in a prison hospital or a patient in a children's hospital, we are naturally inclined to put ourselves in that person's shoes and relate to their pain. By showing empathy towards my patient and their family, that enables me to build a rapport with my patient and his/her family and open a line of trust and communication between us. Relating to my patient and understanding his/her pain and discomfort allows me to place myself in a position to further express my compassion. I would refrain from judging my patient on the nature of his/her crimes because I personally, believe in forgiveness. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Culinary And Social Culture Of New Orleans Essay For more than two centuries, coffee has long been a fundamental part of the culinary and social culture of New Orleans. It's not just the city's penchant for chicory café au lait served alongside warm beignets. Nor is it just landmark gathering spots like Café du Monde or Morning Call Coffee Stand that spawned the notion of the laborers' coffee break and served locals and tourists for generations. And it isn't solely boozy Café Brulôt, the brandy–spiked coffee drink New Orleans families serve in slender china cups that makes New Orleans a true coffee town. Alongside these the gustatory expressions is the city's historic and long–standing role in the coffee trade. New Orleans has been a significant coffee port for more than 200 years. Since the early 19th century, import companies have brought in green coffee beans from around the world through the Port of New Orleans. Today, it is the second–largest coffee port in the country. Among those importers, Westfeldt Brothers Inc. is one of the oldest of its kind in the United States. The company was first founded in Mobile, Alabama, in 1851 by Swedish Vice Consul Gustavus Adolphus George Westfeldt, who had immigrated to the U.S. in 1835. Westfeldt moved to New Orleans in 1853. By 1880, his company had become one of the country's principal green coffee importers. Since then, it has been run by six generations of Westfeldts. The latest generation is the first to be represented by a woman. Shelby Westfeldt Mills, Alabama, joined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Family Resource Centers Essay Family Resource Centers Half the children in this country live in homes in which one or both parents work. Twelve million children in this country do not have health insurance, and over 4.5% of all children are victims of suspected child abuse or neglect (Doktor and Poertner). Believe it or not, these are all indicators of the demand for Family Resource Centers within our school systems. Many question whether Family Resource Centers are worth the money the state pours into them. However, in serving students, parents and teachers, there should be no question of their significance. Due to The Kentucky Education Reform Act in the early 1990's we have seen the development of Family Resource Centers in Kentucky, and they are fulfilling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an interview with David Messer (operator of the Olive Hill Family Resource Center) I learned that the resource centers say, " Our mission with children is to help remove the physical, educational, and social barriers in order to see them succeed in school." and that " Our mission with parents is to empower them with resources and skill needed to meet the challenges in life." The mission statement of the resource centers may vary according to the area, but most followed the same concept. Growing up in a school system with Family Resource Centers, I must agree that they live up to their mission statement. They try to remove education barriers by offering tutoring, physical barriers by offering special education or medical assistance, and social barriers by providing students with anything to help them not stand out in the crowd. Family Resource Centers have a unique structure. Referring back to the Orientation Guide for Newly Employed FR/YSC Coordinators published by MSU's College of Education, Like any program, they have a director that is the supervisor over everything in the program for example keeping track of the funding and programs offered and the staff. In addition to the director you have the advisory councils. This group advises, councils and assists the center and it encourages interaction among the community, the school and the center. It consists of ten to twenty members that are made up of students, parents, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay Penn State Scandal The Jerry Sandusky case had a major impact on Penn State. It affected both academics and athletics in a major way. In this essay I will discuss the situation that occurred and the impact that the social media had on this once great school. Jerry Sandusky is a retired American football coach. He was the assistant coach at Pennsylvania State University under the legendary Joe Paterno for 30 years. He was the defensive coordinator for the football team. He is also the founder of The Second Mile. The Second Mile is a non–profit organization that serves underprivileged youth. This is where Jerry Sandusky had met many of his victims. On November 5th, 2011, Jerry Sandusky was arrested and charged with 52 counts of sex crimes against young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Graham Spanier at the time was the president of Penn State University. He was forced to resign following the Penn State child sex abuse scandal. Tim Curley was the athletic director for Penn State and Gary Schultz was the Vice President. After it was revealed that they failed to report the incident to authorities, both of these men were fired by the board. The FBI had stated that after conducting an investigation that these senior officials had known about Sandusky's actions as early as 1998 and had failed to disclose this information to authorities. On October 9, 2012, Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 60 years in prison. Spanier, Curley, and Schultz have been charged with grand jury perjury, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and child endangerment in association with the scandal. Paterno and McQueary never had any charges pressed on them because they did what they were obligated to do. McQueary had reported the incident to his superior which is Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno also reported the incident to his superior who is Curley and Schultz. This whole situation caused a huge reaction nationwide. The media had criticized the University for being so irresponsible. Many radio stations and newspapers harshly criticized the school for this scandal. Many people had criticized McQueary for not protecting the child that was being raped by Sandusky. The media criticized him for not protecting the child and reporting it to ... • 9. Elderly Population Rehabilitation "You actually create victims by not letting elderly prisoners go and use your resources on rehabilitation for the ones that are going to get out...When I came here and saw the elderly population, I said "Why are they here? Our name is corrections to correct deviant behavior, but there's nothing to correct in the guys; they're harmless." – Burl Cain, warden of Louisiana state penitentiary at Angola. Experts say that the growth of the elderly inmate population is and will continue to grow. There are several reasons for the dramatic increase of the elderly population. First, the growth of older prisoners reflects, in general, the continual aging of society as a whole. According to the Federal interagency forum on Aging–Related Statistics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is mostly for the physical, psychological, and social needs of the elderly population. Some activities, such as chair aerobics, adult basics education, and GED classes are provided as part of the program, as well as bingo, shuffleboard, horseshoe, and a walking program. In some facilities, they provide assistance to elderly inmates so that they can apply for social security, Medicare benefits, and a health care education program. In seven states, they have housing units reserved for the elderly inmates. The reason for this is due to their special medical needs or their eligibility for hospice care. For example, the Minnesota correctional facility for older prisoners has a dedicated housing unit for inmates within the age range of fifty–five and older with chronic health problems (Abner). Nurses are provided for them sixteen hours a day (Abner). Angola state penitentiary in Louisiana is one of the many prisons that offer hospice care for inmates in their final stages of terminal illnesses. In numerous states, they have what is called "compassionate release programs." For some reason, it is hardly used due to the fact that most of the older prisoners die while in prison or literally have no where to go, so they decided to remain imprisoned. Some are released under medical reprieve, a supervised release program for prisoners who are considered a low–risk for re– offending. Due to the population growth amongst elderly prisoners, along with the fact that they are getting sicker and sicker as they age, the cost toward the state that these prisoners require will continue to grow as ... • 11. Huey P. Long 's Speech Huey P. Long's speech was judged based on his practices as a Louisiana senator and governor, however it had the potential to be so much more had he lived to continue his legacy. People appeared to be afraid of how Governor Long operated within the legislative system of Louisiana because of the fact that, he tended to find his way around legal statutes that hindered his agenda. Some could argue that he stepped out of the bounds of power that reigns in a representative of a democratic nation, however he wound up being one of the most effective public servants in the country. Amidst the Great Depression, Governor Long gave Louisiana 's economy a huge lift with the vast construction of bridges, schools, and roads. In fact the state of Louisiana has not had anything close to such an economic boost as to what Huey p. Long offered since that time. As time has passed, Louisiana has become infamous for its lack of proper public education, especially regarding grades one through twelve. This lack of proper education has become constantly associated with the state since Huey Long's assassination. Despite the controversy over how Long executed his political agenda, it cannot be refuted on how productive and beneficial his reign was for the state. For instance, in Huey P Long's speech directed towards the entirety of the United State's population vied for the spread of wealth around the country. Initially he proclaimed how absurd it was that nearly a dozen men owned more monetary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The And Gold Tour Bus From Louisiana State University On Losing Everything This past week I saw that purple and gold tour bus from Louisiana State University in my town, not only surprising me but also forcing me to think back on my childhood in the south. Growing up in southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day's notice. Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and animals alike. Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the midst of that wreckage. My family and I were living in a small, close–knit community, named St. Amant, about an hour west of New Orleans. On the third day of the hurricane, my family experienced a loss greater than we could have ever imagined. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In no way do I mean to trivialize the severe and deadly effects hurricanes can potentially bring, but not all hurricanes are the same. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually lost strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation from school, and the parents got a much–needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone in Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a laid back state, due to its French roots. The catch–phrase for the state was always "Laissez Les Bon Temps rouler," or "Let the good times roll!" So, it's easy to see why the media portrayed Louisianan's as "not caring" about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we were just expecting much less than what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that people from California have been through many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but would you stop living your life for a small earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My family tried to be as prepared as we possibly could, but there is only so much money to go around buying things for situations that might not even happen. My dad purchased our first gasoline generator earlier that year which sadly put a dent into our emergency savings. Nevertheless, we had enough supplies, water, and food to last about a week if necessary. From my memories, about a week ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"Once the music began, I was fortunate enough to hit every beat. It was amazing. My cheer coach was extremely proud of my whole squad. I was proud of myself as well." As Claire stated this, her eyes seemed to light up with joy. After that moment was over, Claire decided right there and then at that moment that she would one day attend Louisiana State University. "Who knew that one day would change my life forever? One day I could may become a Tiger myself and maybe an LSU cheerleader on top of that." Although Claire was already passionate about being a cheerleader, that day her love for the sport increased immensely. Claire plans to one day become a cheerleading coach herself. Growing up in a rural and poor family of nine, him being the seventh, was not easy. But being the outspoken person he was from a young age, he stood out. Using that to his advantage, he managed to take an unofficial private bar exam without so much as a high school graduate diploma. Then at age 30, he was already running for Governor of Louisiana. Although his first campaign for Governor in 1924 was unsuccessful that did not deter him. He even went as far to say that had there not been rains before the polls he would have won, but the rains made his rural voters unable to vote because the unpaved roads were not drivable. This issue would later be something he worked strongly to fix. With senior prom and all my senior activities it felt as if time was slowly but surely running out. High school was some of my best years but I was dying to graduate and attend college and be on my own but in order to do so I had to score really high on the ACT or SAT. I was so nervous while taking the SAT and I didn't do good as I wanted to, feeling defeated I studied really hard for the ACT. Even though I studied the butterflies when I entered the room where the test was being administered wouldn't go away but I did feel more confident. I took the test and waited days for my results. I was so excited that I scored a 24. I learned that if you put your mind to something you will succeed every time. I took full responsibility for my future and I planned on having a bright one. I felt as a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. After receiving the good news I applied to a total of four universities and I was accepted by all of them. For example, devices were introduced to have a conversation with people miles away; however, as time continued, individuals were able to talk without a wire restricting them from walking out of the kitchen. Over the decades, the style in males and females changed drastically as well. Although people say change is good, some change might have virtuous intentions but they end up being severely detrimental. The Effects Of Huey Long 's Bills Affecting Our State Has anyone here ever stopped and wondered why LSU is the size it is today or why there never seems to be a shortage of schools wherever you go in the state. Whether you have or not, these are both causes of Huey Long's bills affecting our state, also known as the reign of the Kingfish. Huey Pierce Long was born on August 30, 1893, in the town of Winnfield located in Winn Parish to Mrs. Caledonia Long and Mr. Huey Long, Sr. The young Huey was the seventh of nine children (his younger siblings being named Earl and Lucille), and he lived the life of a farmer's child. Although he lived in an environment that offered little time for leisure or even education, Huey's parents emphasized education in each of their children's lives along with individual expression and competition. The family was also a group of astute Christians with their daily Bible studies, attending church twice a week, and frequent attendance to gospel revivals. As Huey grew, there was no school for him to go too. Therefore, his mother home–schooled him with his eight siblings until a formal education was accessible. While being homeschooled, Huey studied penmanship, writing, math, history, classic literature, and poetry along with the Bible being the mainstay of his teachings. By age eleven, Long started going to a public school in fourth grade. He was far ahead and bored by the teachings. He eventually persuaded his teacher to let him skip seventh grade. • 29. Racial Diversity Racial diversity should be facilitated into nationwide colleges and universities. A percentage of these institutions fail to have their racial demographics sufficiently proportioned to society in general. A diverse institution can ideologically be explained as representing the traditional attitudes and values of America; sufficiently different in regards to ethnicities. A diversity dilemma occurs when such status is nonexistent. For instance, there is a school whose student body is composed of unproportionate percentages of ethnicities, seventy–five percent other and twenty–five percent Caucasian. It is a form of cultural deprivation to minority populations and ideal for one's culture to be lost. Louisiana State University, an urban flagship university of Louisiana, is often criticized for its lack of ethnic diversity. The university has unproportioned demographic ratios similarly explained prior. Seventy–three percent of LSU's student body is composed of Caucasians, while the other twenty–seven percent are blacks, Hispanics, Natives, etc. As a reaction to critics, LSU has conveyed a sense of diversity through school promotions, from freshman admissions to student involvement. This biopic follows Temple from her late teens –– as she struggles with both her own limitations and some narrow–mindedness in the communities around her –– to her startling first accomplishments. She demonstrates the importance of pictures in the mind of autisitc people and how powerful their visual skills can be. Another reason why I think this movie is such a great, inspirational movie is because of how a woman with autism can accomplish something so inspiring that shows people with autism shouldn't be viewed as someone who can't do much or someone who doesn't have the skills and knowledge to do what normal people can. Temple Grandin has probably made a big difference in what people think of ones who have autism and I think that is great. Just because a person has autism doesn't necessarily mean that people don't have autism should view them as someone lower than themselves. People with autism are only stronger–willed and even though they may have difficulty with life, Temple Grandin shows that it doesn't matter if you have autism or not because you can achieve your goals, you just need that determination in your life. Being blessed with the opportunity to apply for college, let alone go to college, is something some kids never get to see. Being able to grow academically as well as spiritually, physically, and emotional are just a few of the many benefits. It is my aspiration to attend the university of my dream and be changed into a better version of myself through the process of graduation; however, before that can happen, I must decide which school is right for me. I will do this by looking at two variables. I will first look at the multiplier effect of the state putting money into the California State University system and what will happen as a result of the divestment due to the budget cuts. I will then look at the decrease in the median income due to the fact that the budget cuts will cause a decrease in enrollment which means there will be fewer college graduates and college graduates earn more money than their non–graduate counterparts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (California State Governor's Office) According to a report presented to the Office of the Chancellor by IFC International for every one dollar spent by the state on the California State University system "the CSU generates $5.43 for California's economy annually. When enhanced earnings by graduates are taken into account, the annual return rises to more than $23 for each $1 invested." (ICF International) This, however, does not necessarily mean than the $542.4 million in cuts is multiplied by $23, resulting in a total decrease of $12.475 billion in spending. This is because the relationship isn't necessarily completely linear. Since the decrease is only 8.5% then the relationship might still be linear, which would mean that there will be $12.475 billion in spending lost. The other reality might be that it is not linear, which would mean the total loss of spending would be less than $12.475 billion. Another area I will look at for the California State University system's budget cuts is the resulting enrollment cuts. With less money coming in from the state the universities have to save money by enrolling fewer students. However, the money cut from the CSU budget doesn't have a direct relationship to a decrease in enrollment. The change in enrollment is determined by the universities and is filled every semester. Little did I know I was going to come home to such a dramatic 30 minute experience that could have made me a completely different person than who I am today. Every once in awhile I will replay the sequence of events that happened on this day. It all started with a rough day at school. I was not really the greatest kid back at my middle school. My day was me getting in trouble at school and coming home to pretty upset parents. As soon as I stepped foot in the door, I asked my dad "Dad let's go outside throw, and catch some ground balls. My dad as a kid was always tough on me cause he knew it would pay off in the future of me playing the game I love. As we began to start I missed a couple of ground balls so he kind of got on me and yelled at me. I eventually got so tired of him getting on me that I said, " Dad I quit. • 51. Essay on Willie Stark as Huey Long Robert Penn Warren's novel, All the King's Men depicts the tale of the rise of a political leader named Willie Stark. Many readers have speculated that Warren based Willie Stark's character on Huey Long, a controversial, political leader from Louisiana who was prominent during the early 1900s. Although Robert Penn Warren has "repeatedly denied that Willie Stark is a fictional portrait of Huey Long," many aspects of the novel directly correlate to the political career and personal life of Huey Long (Payne). Robert Penn Warren creates a character whose experiences and political career directly correlate to the events in Huey Long's life. The speculations that Willie Stark is a fictional representation of Huey Long are indisputable due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Huey Long was murdered by Dr. Carl Weiss, the son of a Judge Long, who Long was attempting to remove from the bench (worldpress.com). According to a newspaper article covering Long's murder, Weiss reportedly "fired a handgun at Long" in the State Capitol building on the evening of September 8, 1935 (worldpress.com). Dr. Weiss's bullet "fatally [struck] him in the abdomen" but death was not instant; Huey Long died two days after the shooting (worldpress.com). In the same way as Huey Long was murdered, Stark is attacked by Adam Stanton after Adam who was offended by the discovery of Willie and Anne's affair. Adam approaches Willie and "[puts] out his hand," but instead of giving in a handshake like Jack had hoped, Adam shoots Willie (596). Jack watches as "two little spurts of pale–orange flame from the muzzle of the weapon" are released, but Willie "did not die there in the lobby under the dome" (598). Although Willie survives the attack in the Capitol building, he dies the third day following his surgery to remove the bullets. Both assassinations, that of Willie Stark and Huey Long are nearly identical. Both men were shot by a doctor in the Capitol building, and both survived initially but died shortly after the event occurred. Clearly Robert Penn Warren drew upon the shooting of Huey Long to create a similar situation in his novel. As soon as I stepped foot in the door I asked my dad "Dad let's go outside throw, and catch some ground balls. My dad as a kid was always tough on me cause he knew it would pay off in the future of me playing the game I love. As we began to start I missed a couple of ground balls so he kind of got on me and yelled at me. I eventually got so tired of him getting on me that I said, " Dad I quit. "I love the intensity and the relationship in football" Coach Lorio explaining with a passionate expression. I can see it in his eyes that he is very dedicated and hardworking coach. As of now he is 62 years old and still willing to coach. "It's not the same without coaching. The joy and the sorrow I feel during the season has been addicted to me. I've been in this game almost all my life and that is a very long time." From the article of Sports Nola, Nick Kreugar wrote about Dennis Lorio: "He was offensive coordinator at East St. John for the past two years, but resigned for family reasons last October. He is well known for his time at Thibodaux and led them to the inaugural 5A state championship in 1991. Lorio also spent time as LSU offensive line coach from 1992–94 and returned to Thibodaux in 2008 leading the Tigers to a 27–12 record with 5A state quarterfinal playoff runs in 2008 and 2009. • 59. The Importance Of The Tower Of Pisa The Tower of Pisa is a major cite in Italy due to its natural, but not intended, lean. The bell tower stands at close to one hundred ninety feet tall with one side noticeable being shorter than the other. The reason for the lean of the tower is due to the soil and weight distribution. The weight of the building is so heavy and the soil itself was not very stable. (Urban Climatology). The stair case on the inside of the bell tower is made of marble and took over three hundred years to be completely built. Marble was a material that was used by ancient Greece that eventually ended up being used by not only them, but the rest of the world also. Marble is a very smooth, hard substance that is usually a sign of wealth. (Lezzerini). "Important to catch their dynamic response to natural actions in general, and also to assess the effects due to pedestrian and users, and consequently to define functional capabilities and levels of acceptable dynamic stress. The studied structure was subject to artificial loading by synchronous movement of about 20 people." (Piroddi). This is stating that the tower may have been affected with a lean due to people walking amongst it. Not only can soil and the building itself have an impact on the buildings overall structure but people walking in it can also dramatically affect it. Although the tower being on a lean is a fantastic thing to look at, its main purpose was to be a bell tower for the near by cathedral. As the Tower of Pisa has a lean, it is ... What he is famous for though is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse in 1960 for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from mass–produced, merchandising images. His comic–strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling, are blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of benday dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art and abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact. These painting made him famous and the first one–man show of his comic strip paintings was in New York City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was phenomenal. He has the distinction of being the first American artist to have an exhibition at London's Tate Gallery. Essay on Kate Chopin and Edna Pontellier as Feminists Kate Chopin and Edna Pontellier as Feminists Kate Chopin is known for her literary works that depict culture in New Orleans, Louisiana, and of women's struggles for freedom. She was born Katherine O'Flaherty in Missouri, and later married Oscar Chopin in 1870. He was a Creole cotton trader from New Orleans. Later they moved to a plantation near Cloutierville, Louisiana, where her husband died in 1882. She returned to Missouri with her six children, and began her writing career. She began writing mostly "local color" stories that earned her consideration as a contributor to Southern regional literature. She later began writing stories about women's need for independence and capacity for passion, such as The Story of an Hour and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the women in America were advancing, those in state of Louisiana were not. At the time the state operated under a different legal system than the rest of the country. Under the Louisiana Civil Code, article 1388, a woman was still the legal property of her husband, and the male had absolute (legal) control over the family. It also said, in article 1124, married women, babies, and the mentally ill were incompetent in making a legal contract. (Herman, 53) Wives were possessions to be cared for and displayed. They often brought a dowry or inherited wealth to a marriage. Like most of Chopin's stories, The Awaking is set in the late 19th–century Creole society of the New Orleans area. It is the story of a young woman's struggle to become herself. It concludes that the complete freedom and happiness that she yearns for is not available to her in socially appointed roles as a wife and mother. Edna Pontellier is married to her husband, Mr.Pontellier, "a person whom she had married without love as an excuse" (McQuade, 1661). The story opens during summer vacation at Grand Isle. This environment allows Edna to explore her own personality. It is on the island that Edna begins her "awakening" to life. She first realizes her dissatisfaction with her life. Then she learns the pleasure of swimming. It is on Grand Isle that she begins to feel sexual attraction to Robert, although her awakening to sexuality occurs months later. Edna also ...
