The objectives of rural sanitation campaign are
· Accelerate sanitation coverage in rural areas
· Demand led promotion, where people are active
· Intensive education and awareness campaigns to understand the need for
safe sanitation
· Reach rural schools and nursery schools to emphasize good hygiene
practices
· Promote cost-effective and appropriate technologies
Some steps undertaken to achieve this objective are:
1. Increasing political will and administrative commitment by identifying and
creating local sanitation champions at the district level
2. Providing technical support to selected districts to deliver sanitation in a
sustainable manner.
3. Supporting the government through participation on individual levels
4. Develop cheaper, native and acceptable sanitation technology pertaining
to the socio-economic standard of our people.
5. Waste stabilization ponds to be created as a low cost and low
maintenance means of sewage treatment.

upgrading and maintenance.
The way forward is clear— to achieve “sanitation for all”, the goal is not only toilet
coverage but ato improve health and provide privacy and dignity to women, with the
overall goal of improving the quality of life of people living in rural areas.
