3. INFRASTRUCTURE
INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote
sustainable agriculture
3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all age
4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning
opportunities for all

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and
productive employment and decent work for all
7. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization
and foster innovation
4. 1. Reduce inequality within and among countries
2. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and
sustainable
3. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
4. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
5. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for
sustainable development
6. Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems,
sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse
land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
7. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development,
provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and
inclusive institutions at all levels
8. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global
Partnership for Sustainable Development
5. • The smart city concept
integrates information and communication
technology ('ICT'), and various physical
devices connected to the Internet of
things ('IoT') network to optimize the
efficiency of city operations and services
and connect to citizens.
• This includes data collected from citizens,
devices, buildings and assets that is
processed and analyzed to monitor and
manage traffic and transportation
systems, power plants, utilities, water
supply networks, waste, criminal
investigations,information systems, schools,
libraries, hospitals, and other community
services.
6. BENEFITS OF SMART CITIES
1. ENVIRONMENT IMPACT
2. OPTIMIZED ENERGY AND WATER MANAGEMENT
3. TRANSPORTATION
4. SECURITY
SMART CITY CHALLENGES
1. INFRASTRUCTURE AND COSTS
2. SECURITY AND PRIVACY CONCERNS
3. SOCIAL RISKS
7. SMART CITY TECHNOLOGIES
1. SMART BUILDINGS- The optimization of services like heating, ventilation
and air conditioning (HVAC)as well as energy usage and effieciency.
2. SMART MOBILITY- Promoting electric vehicles, self service bikes, public
transport and controlling networks as well as providing charging stations
must be a priority to give city dwellers true sustainable alternatives to the
society.
3. SMART LIGHTING-Lighting optimization reduces energy usage of the lighting
systems by providing the correct amount of light at the correct time with
efficient fixtures.
4. SMART ROADS- Control sensors can be used to monitor certain traffic
patterns and common traffic. Besides smart technologies can detect the
possible deterioration of equipments such as traffic lights and light panels
for pedestrians.
8. CLEAN CITY
• A city that is free from pollution and environment degradation. Both
these terms are relative in nature. A city that has many trees than
buildings all over will be free from environmental problems as trees
help to purify the air and maintain the cycle of nature.
9. The CLEAN India Programme
•Clean India program was launched by development
centers. This nation wide program focuses on
environmental assessment , awareness and action on
school children who are the future citizens. The realization
is that each one of us responsible for the current state of
our environment and we cannot wait for someone else to
solve it water pollution, depletion of ground water,
madequate sanitation open dumping of waste and loss of
forest cover are the problems. These impacts on the
health of the people and also does an economic impact on
the country.
10. CLEAN INDIA MISSION
•Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean
India Mission is a country-wide campaign initiated by the
Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open defecation
and improve solid waste management.
•The Indian government wants to develop a green city in
every state of the country powered by renewable energy.
The green city will mainstream environment friendly
power through solar rooftop systems on all its houses
enables public transport systems.
11. OBJECTIVES OF SBM
a) To bring about an improvement in the general quality of
life in the rural areas, by promoting cleanliness, hygiene
and eliminating open defecation.
b) To accelerate sanitation coverage in rural areas to
achieve the vision of Swachh Bharat by 2nd October 2019.
c) To motivate Communities and Panchayati Raj
Institutions to adopt sustainable sanitation practices and
facilities through awareness creation and health education.
d) To encourage cost effective and appropriate
technologies for ecologically safe and sustainable
sanitation.
e) To develop where required, Community managed
sanitation systems focusing on scientific Solid & Liquid
Waste Management systems for overall cleanliness in the
rural areas.
12. ADVANTAGES OF CLEAN CITY INCLUDE
•Clean city invites visitors and toursists to attract to many
including monuments, restaurants and outdoor
adventures. It also encourages people to settle for the
rest of their lives.
•Clean city provides fresh air without ant pollutant mix in
it. Clean city prevent pollutants to environment and give
us a life without any disease.
•The clean city provides infrastructure and modern
innovation which generates less garbage.
13. SAFE CITY
• Safer City is a plan to enhance public security and welfare by
deploying networked security systems across several entities in
a society to optimise the necessary response from detection to
action. The emergence of smart technology is driving the
creation of Safer Cities.
• It aims to create a safe, secure and empowering environment
for women in public places. It is a cutting-edge security system
meant for preventing and investigating crimes. It will further
maintain surveillance at crucial public installations.
14.
15. Four Major Requisites
• Prevention- It provides reliable and comprehensive security measures to
predict threats and hazardous situations. City authorities must be able to
take measures to prevent threats from occurring in the first place.
Simulation and forcasting technology, based on big data mining can help the
relevant authorities to predict public threats and support police and military
assets to prevent the event before it begins
• Detection- It aids in public safety organizations in collection sharing and
analyznig data more effectively to provide early warnings and raise
situational awareness.
• Response- It enables the key organizations in the city to react in security
threats in real time.
• Recovery- It provides post event examination and analysis , identify, victims
and provide assistance in rescue actions.
