Budget
What kind of budget do underground/urban films have
when being created.
Budget
Budgets for films from urban areas are quite minimal as there is
no backing from huge investors or companies. Most of these are
created with their own cameras and actors as they do not have
the financial backing to have the highest technology cameras or
to pay actors.

When I am recording my film opening I know I will not have a
huge budget it will be very minimal and I will not have all the
equipment which other film makers may have. I will have to
improvise.
Paranormal Activity
The first Paranormal Activity was created with a $15,000
(£9,115) budget. This was created with two actors and a
standard home video camera. Oren Peli created a supernatural
horror film in 2007 which he shot in his own home over a seven
day period. Paranormal Activity was released as an independent
feature but quickly gained industry attention after film festival
screenings and was bought by Paramount Pictures. Since 2007
Paranormal Activity has grossed over $190 million.
Kidulthood
The estimated budget for Kidulthood
was £600,000. The weekend gross
was £100,056. Kidulthood was
distributed by Revolver
Entertainment. Kidulthood shows how
kids are living in the streets of
London. They are portrayed as being
reckless and antisocial young people
who commit crimes such as petty
theft and serious violence. The film
also showcases how the characters
engage in recreational drug taking
behavior.
