Aero India is a biennial air show and aviation exhibition

9. Light Combat Aircraft TEJAS
Initiated by HAL in 1983 to
develop a replacement
aircraft for IAF's
ageing MiG-21.
First flight occurred in
2001.
LCA was officially named
"Tejas" in 2003, meaning
"Radiant" in Sanskrit by the
then Prime Minister Atal
Bihari Vajpayee.
Currently 2 aircrafts are
being used in IAF.

11. Light Combat Helicopter(LCH)
After LCA, the HAL is
now developing the Light
Combat Helicopter (LCH)
for the IAF .
Designed to fit into an
anti-infantry and anti-
armour missions, it is
capable to operate from
altitudes of 6,500 metres.
It is the smallest and
lightest in its class, soon
to be inducted into IAF.

13. Light Utility Helicopter (LUH)
This indigenous helicopter
reached a milestone on
September 2016, when it
conducted its first technical
flight.
The LUH is expected to be a
replacement for the ageing
Cheetah/Chetak fleet .
It can carry out various utility
roles such as reconnaissance,
transport, cargo load and rescue
operations. The helicopter can
operate from sea level to high
altitudes of Himalayas.

HAL displayed it’s HTT 40
trainer which was rejected by the
IAF recently. It will be inducted
after certain modifications.

17. HAWK-I Trainer Jet
The 100th Hawk aircraft
named Hawk-i – an upgraded
Hawk Mk132, was showcased.
Additional Advanced Hawk
modifications include a new
multifunction display cockpit,
autopilot facility, sensor
simulation, enhanced braking,
and a mid-air refuelling
capability.

19. Airborne Early Warning and Control System
(AEW&CS)
The AEW&CS is capable of
detecting and tracking, identifying
and classifying threats, guidance
and interception control, display of
the air situation picture and multi-
sensor data integration.
It is a system populated with state-
of-the-art Active Electronically
Scanned Radar, Secondary
Surveillance Radar, Electronic and
Communication Counter
AEW&CS mounted over Embraer ERJ-145
Measures.
It has a range of 250-375 km with
240-degree coverage.
