8. What is Fuller Approach?
The Fuller Approach is a
combination of the alphabet,
phonics, and whole methods
of teaching word recognition.

Pre-requisites Before Teaching The Fuller
Technique
1) The child has mastery of the name and form of
each alphabet. The child can identify which letters
are vowels and which letters are consonants.
2)The child has mastery of the regular sounds of the
consonants.

1.The first letter that we
teach is letter Mm
followed by Ss, Ll, Ff, Tt
and so on

13. 2. When introduce a
letter, show first words
that begin with the
target letter. And then,
sound out the target
letter.

14. 3. Next is to show how
the target letter is
formed.

15. 4. Demonstrate how to
write the target letter in
different multi-sensory
ways.

16. 5. Give exercises to
reinforce the target
letter.

17. 1.Start each lesson with a review of the
previous consonant learned.
2. The difficulty increases with each lesson.
3.Mastery of new words must be done through a
fun way–games, exercises, contests will surely
interest a young child.

1. Introduce and sound out the target word
family. Let the pupils repeat what the teacher
does.
2. Present the word in the word family with the
picture of it.
3. The teacher will substitute another letter in
the alphabet for the same word family.
4. Let the pupils read by themselves the words
in the word family being discussed
