Students at the MERTZEDE school in the Basque Country attend classes from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. At 1:30 pm, students have lunch in the school's dining room, where the staff prepares delicious, traditional Basque dishes. After lunch, students can either go to the library to do homework or play outside until classes end at 4:30 pm, at which point all students go home. During free time, teens play sports like football while girls do other activities such as walking, and on rainy days students can play inside at fronton courts in the school playground.
