Analysis and Explanation
In my search for radio advert examples I was unable to find any that advertised
local newspapers so I have found three other adverts so I can look at the typical
conventions of them and then apply them when making my final project. In terms
of length I have found that most radio adverts range between around 25-40
seconds. They often, but not always, feature music or a ‘jingle’ in the background
which can be done to help the listener remember the product being advertised as
the tune can get stuck in their heads. The person (or people) speaking in the
advert usually have a loud, confident voice used to get the point across to the
listeners. They typically use a short story line to follow or pun/joke in an attempt
to draw in attention from the audience and then encourage them to buy their
product, however they can also simply just describe their product. One final thing I
noticed is if terms and conditions Apply they will b mentioned at the end of the
advert at a quick speed so they audience is informed, but it does not bore them.
After doing this research I have decided that when making this ancillary task I
will use a piece of music in the background as I think this is the most effective way
of doing a radio advert. I will also use a slogan (potentially the same one I use on
my billboard poster) to help advertise my product along side a brief, maybe
comical, description of the newspaper to advertise further. I believe doing this will
ensure that my product is life-like and professional.
