2. A range of different aged people
took my survey which is very
helpful as it means I have now
got a results reflecting views of
a multitude of people from the
public, however the majority
were young which could affect
my results as typically younger
people don’t often read
newspapers.
3. The split between male and
female was fairly even with just
3 more women than men. This
is useful as it helps reflect the
views of both genders rather
than just one as this is could
negatively affect my results.
4. There is a variance in the job titles showing that I have a range of people who are involved in
different things aiding me in my findings as it isn’t just opinions from one niche group of people.
5. From the results of this question I now
know that it largely varies between
people and how many times they read
local newspapers. A third of people said
that they never read local newspapers,
but this could be due to the fact that not
everyone has easy access to them, e.g.
free through the door or they made read
the news elsewhere like online. Some
people do read newspapers quite often
which shows that they are still popular
and selling with their eye catching
images and shocking headlines to draw
in their audience.
6. There were many different reasons given as to why people purchase. From this research I have
found out that I need to make sure my headline is interesting along with my stories and also
ensure that my stories purely focus on the local area and don’t drift off into other, unimportant
things. As well as this my news should be up to date (e.g. restaurant due to open, gig that
happened last week, not last month).
7. Most people said that they preferred
to get their news online, however
there were still some who preferred
newspapers. After seeing this I am
going to ensure that my newspaper
product (and supporting adverts) are
very attention drawing, eye catching
and professional as this will help
attract a larger audience.
8. A fair amount of people said they
would buy a local newspaper and
I believe that some of the no and
not sure responses could've been
due to the fact that a lot of people
get local newspapers delivered
for free therefore they may still
read them, but not purchase
them. As I am making a local
newspaper that will need to be
brought and is not available for
free I will have to ensure that my
front cover is good and
professional to attract consumers.
