After WW2 /1939-1945/ Chile pass through a big
economic development with the exportation of the
mines and industry . Therefor many countries
were interested in being part of this economic
richness of the modern Chile , specially USA.
In this time socialist and communist unite the
people, as result Salvador Allende(1908-1973) was
elected president.

THE COUP D'ETAT

military of the Conservative
party of Chile, with help of USA
Overthrow Salvador Allende.
Augusto Pinochet stablished a
dictatorship that ended the
socialist empire (extermine

Fighting communism, Pinochet found
common cause with the military
dictatorships of Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay
Uruguay, and later, Argentina. The six
countries eventually formulated a plan

The United States provided technical
support and supplied military aid to the
participants until the democratic
government stablished.
France received many Chilean political

USA was involved with Chile,
they assist Pinochet on the
coup.
Spain investigated Pinochet,
for the torture and death of
spanish people.
Britain was involved when
Chile helped them on bases and
intelligence when the Falksland
war.
10. Downfall
The the national and international
power finally could weakened him.
The opposition to the regime protests
in the streets, in 1980, & Pinochet
arranged a plebiscite asking the
people whether he should rule for
another eight years...
In 1988 the constitution of Chile
prohibit the renovation of Pinochet's
government.
US in any case did not support him during the
Jimmy Carter presidency or in the later years
of the Ronald Reagan period).
