DATA
IN THE U.S.
In 2014, an estimated 44,073 people were diagnosed with HIV
infection in the
United States. 1 in 8 individuals living with HIV don’t know
their status. (cdc.gov,
June 2016)
IN TEXAS
As of 2015, 82,745 individuals were known to be living with
HIV in Texas.
In 2015, 4,486 cases of HIV were newly diagnosed in Texas.
DISPARITIES
Gay and Bisexual men continue to be most affected by the HIV
epidemic in the
U.S.
At current rates.
• 1 in 6 MSM will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime,
• 1 in 2 black MSM
• 1 in 4 Latino MSM
• 1 in 11 white MSM (Center for Disease Control and
Prevention 2016)
