Personal Philosophy Of Leadership
Artisans all have tools they proudly weld in the pursuit of their craft. Musicians have their
instruments of wood, brass, string and voice. Sculptors and painters have their materials of metals,
clays, pigments and canvas while dancers use their bodies and costumes. These items are all used as
tools of personal expression for the artist. Many artists appear to be born with natural talents for
their art or are drawn to one medium of expression over another, but none excel at their craft without
dedication and deliberate practice. The same is true for leadership. Not all who effectively lead are
born with innate abilities that attract followers. Each of us brings our own combination of life
experiences, personal traits and stylistic preferences to the practice of leadership. Through the act of
deliberate reflection and contemplation, we become aware of ourselves and how our experiences
and traits are likely to help or hinder our pursuit of effective leadership. We become aware of our
personal truths, our strengths and our faults and I believe this is the foundation from which
leadership is built. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The community may be a business with goals of sales and profit or it may be a professional, civic or
volunteer association with goals of serving the needs of others. The community may even be our
own individual family focusing on the growth and education of our loved ones. Each of these
communities have their own goals and purposes and we are members of them all. It is in these
varying roles of our lives that the context of leadership exists. As leaders, we excel in our craft not
in the specific traits and behaviors we exhibit to provide control or influence but in the interactions
we cultivate with the members of our communities as we guide them towards common

Price : Axe Body Spray Essay
Price: AXE Body Spray The price of AXE body spray can be found on the AXE website, where it
lists prices at different retailers, where it ranges from $3.97–$5.97 depending on where you purchase
it (Phoenix). The price is the value paid for a product in a marketing exchange (Pride & Ferrell).
People who use AXE body spray on a consistent basis will develop an internal reference price,
which is a price developed in the buyer's mind through experience with the product (Pride &
Ferrell). Thus, when people constantly use this product, they may price it in their mind around $5
dollars, so they know if they want to go purchase it from the store it will cost them around this
amount. In reference to these people who commonly use AXE body spray, they can be classified to a
certain type of consumer. They would be considered value–conscious consumers, or consumers
concerned about price and quality of a product (Pride & Ferrell). Thus, people who use AXE buy it
because it is relatively cheap but they also buy it because of its perceived benefits, getting the girl,
which give it a high quality level in a consumers mind. The pricing of AXE body spray seems to be
based on non–price competition, which emphasizes factors other than price to distinguish a product
from competing brands (Pride & Ferrell). This distinguishing factor seems to be the type of
advertisements that AXE runs, which are sexier compared to competitors' advertisements, and the
message of the ads that state that using the

The Man Under The Axe
The executioner stood over the man––his axe raised over his head, ready to strike. The man under
the axe was unmistakably too calm to be someone who was about to be executed. The man got in his
slaying stance, and he was ready to strike when two arrows simultaneously flew through both of his
eyes, splattering a dark crimson red liquid all over the calm man and the plaza, as well as sending
the plaza into a state of utter panic, chaos, and general pandemonium, save for the man who still had
his same cool, calm, and collected expression and seemed completely unfazed by the fact that two
arrows had just shot through someone's eyes and he just looked forward as if nothing had happened.
He was dressed in fine clothing made of silk, which had been made dirty from him being dragged
around by the men to where he was supposed to be executed. Immediately, forty riflemen looked
around them to no avail. Seeing as someone stealthy that they couldn't do anything about wanted the
man alive, the soldiers decided to tell their commander that one of them found his body down by a
riverbank surrounded by a dozen wolves. Having agreed upon this story, they left the scene and put
the body in the riverbank. Once the soldiers had left, a shadowy figure with a cloak which was a
color darker than death's hand as it wraps itself around your skin, around your throat, completely
nullifying any ability to breathe, completely annihilating any traces of your existence, came out
from the wood's brush. At

Ritual Axe Essay
Throughout history people have came across so many historical artifacts that could potentially give
the viewers a piece of information of the time period and an outlook of what the artifact could have
be used for. There are many collections of artwork from many people, cultures, and different use of
medium like paintings, sculptures, wood cut, etc. One in particular is the subject of a figure,
possibly male, carved as a handle of axe with intriguing designs of lines and shapes, the axe seemed
portable to be use for an individual. This art piece is called Ritual Axe, created by Yoruba people in
Owo, Nigeria, during the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. An axe is a tool to use for
chopping or cutting objects, usually axes is made in simple design but the Ritual Axe is could have
been used for other purposes. The Ritual Axe is symbolic representation of what the Yoruba people
believed in as a way to increase their chance of survival. The design of the handle of the axe is
intriguing with lots of lines and shapes from top to bottom of the handle/figure. The artist carved
lines and shapes to add details to show that the lines could be a representation of clothing and
accessories. The carving of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Yoruba people belief that the axe could help increase their chance of survival by using the axe tool.

The Death Of Trotsky By David Ives
Violence has been a part of plays for centuries. It keeps the play interesting and intriguing, but
however, most of the time there is a greater purpose of violence. When looking for it in plays one
would automatically look for weapons or signs of physically harming someone like. However,
verbiage can be an act of violence as well. The phrase, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but
words will never hurt me is false. Your tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to hurt another
person. Like in the play The Stronger by August Strindberg where Miss Y is verbally insulted
countless of times. Whereas in the play Variations on the Death of Trotsky by David Ives one can
see the physical violence by the tragic murder that occurred. After distinguishing where the violence
is coming from one can then analyze the true role of the violence and compare how the violence
affect the dramas.
When looking at The Stronger you can see just how Miss Y in verbally insulted over and over again
by Mrs. X. While Miss Y is just sitting at a table by herself minding her own business when Mrs. X
shows up. During the entire play Miss Y does not say one word while Mrs. X insults her and says
rude things like, "Poor Amelia, I pity you, nevertheless, because I knew you are unhappy, unhappy
like one who has been wounded, and angry because you are wounded."() She just assumes that she
is unhappy because she is in a café by herself on a holiday. She does not even ask her if she is
unhappy or give her time

What are the Political Axes
Freedom and Authority 1. In your own words, what do the two axes of Political Compass represent?
There are many approaches to the political spectrum, one of which involves two–dimensional model
of Political Compass, which explores the view of a person divided by two aspects social
(Authoritarian and Libertarian) and economic (Left and Right view). The model is represented by
two axes which divided the politics into four main areas. The relationship is strong between freedom
and authority as in some cases and instances authority defines freedom in either absolute or
minimum. The Political Compass took into consideration economic view which is sometimes the
easiest way to define somebody's dependence on the system and therefore the individual's freedom
to act. The Political Compass are decided by the two axes of: a. The Left–Right axis Taking on the
economic approach Right and Left one can distinguish major debates and differences that
distinguish people categorizing them along the line of those two extremes which divides power to
individual or all power to the State. It is reasonable to say that the Left is defined in desire for an
economy to be run and manipulated by solely the state. It is believed that it is the State's
responsibility to ensure welfare for people through planning and implementing, a trade–unionist and
communist would be considered Left ideology where all are equal. Left is understood to also believe
in social equality and support for those in

When you first begin, look for trees and begin punching them. A good idea is to leave the bottom

and then remove the stump. After gathering a few stumps, make some wood planks and a crafting

Use these to create wooden axes, a sword, and a few pick axes. Continue gathering wood and
making wood planks, you will need these to create a makeshift house before the first nightfall.
Mine some stone (grey blocks) so you can create a furnace. This furnace can be used to create some
charcoal, so you can make some torches to light the inside of your house. Ensure that your house is
fully enclosed and you have a few torches inside and maybe even outside to keep enemies from
spawning so close.
Create a door for your house so you can easily enter and leave your house at will. If you choose to
build inside the earth, then construction of your home will be easier than an above ground house.
Having a fully enclosed house with a door, torches inside and out, with a furnace and crafting table
inside will be good enough to begin your first night. Once night falls you will encounter creepers,
spiders, zombies, and skeletons. Creepers are the most dangerous, because they will explode and
damage any terrain in the explosion (except for highly resistant material, which you won't have

The Death Of Trotsky
I was walking again. I do that a lot, because walking relaxes me. Sometimes it just feels nice to
stretch your legs, and get some fresh air. The Moscow air is so fresh that it burns your face a bit, but
I know that a little hypothermia is good for the soul. God, I sound like air supply. Anyway, it was
cold again. I mean it's always cold in Moscow, but today it was different, because this walk wasn't
for nothing. I was intent on my purpose, so I moved at a brisk pace. I sped up, but made sure not to
go too fast so that the ice pick didn't dig into my thigh. I was walking to Leon's house to kill him. As
I stated earlier, I intend on killing Trotsky. I knew what would come if I was victorious, but I felt
pangs of guilt strike my heart. I became unsure on whether or not I could kill him. After all, he
wasn't an enemy of the party, but a comrade. He may have views that I despise, but he was pure at
heart. Maybe, he rejected his perfect life for a better one. There was just a chance that he was one of
us, that he sympathized with the workers, and wanted Russia to have the bright future of communist
red. I mentally scolded myself. I was intent on killing this man, and some weak remorse cannot stop
me. Remorse is an emotion that plays into empathy, and empathy is my enemy. Empathy is
something that people who cry feel. It is a tool of the upper class to make the lower class stay low,
but I can't stop it. When I was a child, I learned how feeling is wrong. I learned that caring

Disadvantages Of Polished Axes
The axes comprise the vast majority of Gülpınar polished cutting edge stone tool assemblage. They
are generally pecked or ground with a transverse cutting edges, elongated triangular in section with
tapering, rounded butt; sharpened the symmetrical blade and elliptical–sub rectangular in cross
section. Also, they have polished and flat surfaces and no visible wear traces on blades except few
specimens. Some specimens had extensive wear traces, which are may result of felling trees,
carpentry related tasks or cutting, chopping and butchery related tasks. Polished axes have more
advantages than flaked axes because of their polished cutting surfaces. The symmetrical edges and
smooth surfaces penetrate deeper on wood during cutting activities (Bordaz ... Show more content

They have generally with a sharp edge for gouging depressions into rather soft materials such as
woods (Adams 2002, 153). They are rare in archaeological contexts in Western Anatolia as well as
in Gülpınars polished stone tool assemblage. Only 4 specimens identified as chisel (78–81). There
are two common shapes in this group, which is quadrant and elongate shape. The specimens are
vastly elongated rectangular in shape with a sub–circular cross–section, slightly rectangular in
profile with tapering rounded butt, rounded and smooth faceted sides and symmetrical sharply
faceted blades Also they have fully polished and flat surfaces and no visible wear traces on blades
except one exhausted specimen (77).
The chisels have been probably used for woodworking tasks. They were hafted for gouging with a
wooden or bone mount to use functionally. Mostly all specimens had no wear traces indicate that
they were used only in symbolic meaning. The specimens are mostly complete and their length
varies between 3–7 cm. with the maximum width of 1–3 cm. and the thickness between 0,5–1,2 cm.
All of the chisels like the other cutting edge tool objects including axes and adze examples were
produced from medium–grained metamorphic rocks such as diorite, gabbro basalt, granite,
serpentine, nephrite and jadeit (greenstone) (Table

The Writing Of The Barbarian
The barbarian snarled, a war cry bursting from his lips as he ambled toward me. His leather boots
kicked dust up from the arena floor as he moved in a slow circle, trying to get his back to the sun
and diminish my line of sight. It was a good trick, but there was just one problem with that. I knew
what he was trying to do.
Even if I could keep him from blinding me, that hulking axe of his would do some major damage. If
he hit me with that, no amount of blocking would keep my head from getting caved in like a casaba
melon. Unfortunately, I was only good up close. I'd have to engage him sooner or later, and since his
arms were longer than mine, I'd have to be quick. Even a cursory blow from him would mean
trouble since the wardings on his gauntlets let me know he had ogre strength.
That said, I'd done this dance a million times before. The key was to not get frazzled. No, I had to
stay calm. If I was calm, I could win. At least in theory. Unfortunately, it was always easier to tell
yourself to be calm than to actually calm down. On the other hand, it was always a lot easier to piss
the other guy off.
"Have you heard the one about your mother?" I asked, a grin melting across my face as I stepped
back, trying to put space between me and his big axe. The muscles in his legs twitched as I spoke,
letting me know he was about to attack. "You probably have, it's huge."
Another snarl tore from his throat as he leapt toward me, huge twin bladed axe cleaving through the
air in a

Old Ads Vs Axe Ads

Advertising Essay
I have chosen the Old Spice vs Axe advertisements to be a good compare and contrast just because
of the different ways they get your attention. On one end of the spectrum you have a "macho" man
with a deep voice stating things and it actually happening because he smells like a man. On the
other, you have young guys putting on some spray that attracts all the females to him. The smell of
the spray making a person look more attractive. However, there have been some differences that we
can notice. For starters its the way they approach their audience, both go for a comical standpoint as
the commercials have an unlikely outcome.

Why Is Lizzie Borden An Axe Murder
Lexie dean 2/17/17 7th per. Research paper
Title: Lizzie Borden, an axe Murder?
Lizzie borden an axe murder? Seems unlikely. Why? Because, Lizzie loved her dad very much. He
was the only biological parent Lizzie had left, her mom died when she was younger. Lizzie did not
accept her new stepmom, Abby, but her and her dad got along just fine. Furthermore, it could have
been John Morse. He was Lizzie's uncle, there was a big family dispute between John, Andrew, and
Abby the night before the murders occurred. John was very mad when he left the Borden family
house the night before. So, it's not likely that, Lizzie Borden is guilty of the murders. Still think it
was Lizzie? Very well then, but, it was never proven that it was Lizzie. Only Lizzies stepmom was

uncle came to visit and got into a big argument with the Borden family and he was so mad that he

of emotion? Simple, she didn't care that Abby was dead because she already wanted her dead
anyway, and her dad, well she had already cried so much when she was alone that she didn't have
any tears left, even her sister Emma said she cried all the time. The doctors also had her on medicine
and she was all doped up. And it couldn't have been Emma because she was out of town at the time
during which the murders took place. But they also only tried Lizzie but there were other people

Commercials And Target Buyers Based On Gender
For some people its the catchy jingle that catches their attention. For others it may be the famous
celebrity that appears on their screen. Some people are even drawn in by the corny catch phrases and
over dramatic acting. No matter the case, companies tend to spend billions of dollars in advertising,
pursuing customers to buy their "must–have" products, and spending whatever money necessary to
get their messages across to those watching. Throughout the years, marketing executives have
realized that they must refine their commercials and target buyers based on gender. Advertisements
on television have exposed images which are stereotypical representations and somehow have been
constructing cultural ideas about gender along the way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The viewer does not know where these women are running towards but soon more and more women
appear on the screen; some running in the jungle, some swimming through the ocean, and others
climbing a mountain. One might address that through all this activity, these perfectly thin women
are still wearing basically nothing on their body and seem to be competing to get somewhere for
they are pushing and shoving one another. Then out of no where, there is one average looking,
twenty something, man just standing in the middle of the beach, with a look of pure joy, while
millions of women are clawing their way to him. This man is simply putting on Axe deodorant and
the words "Spray More, Get More. The Axe Effect" comes up on the screen right before the
commercial ends. The ad portrays how the use of this deodorant will make any man irresistible to
every woman and to many boys watching the commercial, they probably wouldn 't complain if this
situation happened to them. Dove however took a different approach in selling their Dove Clinical
Protection Deodorant. The commercial opens up with the words "what happens when beauty meets
strength" as the song "Pretty Baby" by Minnutes happily plays in the background. Cue different
videos of women applying the deodorant as they confidently get ready for their day. Phrases such as
"will take herself on a date today" and "will run with the guys today" begin to appear on the screen.

Benjamin Franklin Speckled Axe
By looking at Benjamin Franklin's use of metaphor in comparing the attempt at perfection in a
human to that in an axe, it is evident that he believes perfection is a laborious task, which proves
that, in explaining the difficulty of fulfillment, he is attempting to persuade people to adhere to his
lifestyle, as it will produce the desired results. Benjamin Franklin, throughout his life, wrote many
articles about his ideas regarding the achievement of perfection in all aspects of life. Immediately
succeeding one such article, he explains the difficulty of obtaining said superiority by using the
metaphor of a man grinding a speckled axe upon a stone repeatedly to make its surface flawless
before conceding that an imperfect axe is easier to attain and therefore best.. To illustrate the cause
of the man's failure, Franklin says that "...this may have been the case with many who, having, for
want of some such means as I employed, found the difficulty of obtaining good... have given up the
struggle, and concluded that a speckled axe was best..." He states that many people who do not have
the instruments for perfection that he himself wields, have found that obtaining it is too challenging,
which leads to capitulation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

so, it is possible to cleave oneself of the hindrances that prevent a flawless surface and by not doing

archetype for neoclassicism and

AXE Brand Dominance In Canada
Case Critique 3 AXE, after 14 years of brand dominance in Canada, senior assistant brand manager

for three years is beginning to show awareness to marketing problems that the AXE brand is
currently facing. As Maria prepares for her agency meeting, she needs to address the brands
marketing problem or could begin to see effects on sales and market share.
Problem
The problem that the AXE brand is currently facing is that; the consumer's culture is changing and
the AXE brand's core message is not as appealing as it once was. This is a problem because AXE's
sales growth has slowed over the last three years and their major competitors are beginning to ...

When the AXE team conducted focus groups among their target market of males 15–25, they
learned that their target market felt like they outgrew the brand and that it was more suitable for
individuals in their early teens. This consumer perception shows that their latter end of their target
market's values has changed over recent years and no longer see AXE as an appropriate brand for
them at this point.
Global Masculinity Study
AXE's consumer culture problem also shows to be evident in the Global Masculinity Study
conducted by Unilever in 2013. The study provided a number of clear insight as to what the current
consumer culture values, such as;
1. In exhibit 9, the graph clearly shows that muscular body (12%) and masculine attitude (15%) in
men (where AXE is currently situated) is nowhere near as important as sense of humor (83%) or a
distinctive personality (56%), as rated by women.
2. But even with being unique being such a high characteristic among women for men, only 11–33%
of men across US, UK, Mexico, and Brazil feel that being unique makes the more attractive (exhibit

Personal Narrative: Urban Axes In PA
It was March 1, 2017 and I had gone hatchet throwing with a couple of veteran friends of mine. The
place I went to was called urban axes in PA, where we threw hatchets at targets. At first it was a
thirty–minute training session to ensure there was proper safety training. The motto at urban axes
was "Axe Throwing. Like darts ... only bigger and more satisfying!" As soon as I got there I was
really intrigued in what they had done. Fish town is becoming more gentrified then it used to be, so I
had told all my friends about it. The environment that I threw axes in was a nice well–lit area.
Imagine throwing axes in complete and utter darkness. It would be a whole lot of chaos. When I
entered the room I felt like I was in a whole different world. ... Show more content on

I remember being inside the room with hip, upbeat music and it being very busy. I am not sure how
people found out about this place, but I imagine it being word of mouth or even social media. In

My mind is all over the place thinking what I was going to do and what I am going to eat for my
next meal. Today something crazy had just happened. I was actually concentrating for once in my
life and determined to hit the center of the target, which was getting a 10. The main reason why I
was so competitive was because I was competing with a couple of my friends, which is why I was
focused and doing so well. I could not recall how many people were in the place but I can vaguely
remember that the place was packed. I was conscious of my awareness about who was at the place
and who was getting perfect scores because they had a board like bowling at Pinsetters, which told
you your score. I remember hearing people screaming and being loud and enjoyed every moment of
it. It was kind of like going to a Flyers hockey game and hearing the loud noise hearing when they
scored a goal. I had a really tingling sensation in my body because I was slightly buzzed at the bar
before I had gone there. There was no bar at the place because it would be considered a liability
issue. My emotions were strong. I was happy that I had gotten a perfect score twice but I messed up
a couple of times. I was also very scared because there were axes flying left and right. Throughout
the experience I was well aware of my consciousness and what I was doing. Hurting somebody was
impossible because they had these walls that the axes could not get through. Today time had gone
fast. I was having so much fun I could not even tell what time it was. I remember going there around
8 and leaving around 11. I didn't know time flew by until they told me they were

Character Analysis Of Dove In Devil On My Heels '
Three Character Changes – Devil On My Heels By: Ahmed.K 9–36 The first character change is the
relationship with Dove and her father. At the start of the book and also towards the middle, Dove
didn't have a strong relationship with her father. A few examples of this would be on page 148 and
149. She would talk to him without making eye contact and without respect. Dove does not even
give her father a polite and proper answer when she came home after 7 pm. "Dinner's at five–thirty.
Since when do you come waltzing in here after seven?" Dove replies, "Since tonight." I still have
my back to him. On page 156, it shows that Dove doesn't care about her dad finding out what she
has been up to. "Saturday night Chase and I go to the drive–in to see Some Like it Hot. I don't much
care one way or the other if my dad finds out." The ending shows Dove and her father becoming

Essay The Use of Symbolism in the Film "The Piano"
Screen and Visual images are important in the film; The Piano directed by Jane Campion. The
screen and visual images are represented by Motifs. They are related to the dominating characters
which makes them important.
Firstly, Fingers as signifiers. The films very first image is a point–of–view shot looking through
Ada's fingers as if they frame her world. They are signifiers of expressiveness. Ada is mute and her
fingers are her tools of communication. She communicates using sign language with her fingers.
Ada also uses her fingers to play the piano. Without her fingers, Ada would not be able to continue
with her passion. Fingers are the chosen means of her affectionate sex play when she caresses her
husband, and Baine's fingers a hole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He certainly identifies the piano with Ada. He strokes it and dusts it while naked, he tries to pry into
its secrets like a lover. Ada even snaps the lid shut on his fingers when they stray into its recesses. It
becomes the bargaining tool in their growing love affair and when she sends him her love note it is
written on a piano key. At the end, the piano is considered a coffin and Ada throws it overboard of
the Maori canoe, to get rid of her past. To start a new life.
Clothes also are important motifs. They are signifiers of Ada's restricted life and of her potentiality
for sexual expressiveness. The clothes represent Ada's time in life.
At times, her bonnets and skirts are heavy and encumbering, signs of the manner in which Victorian
women were held in tight to constrained social roles.
Later, they are easily removed when necessary at Baine's house. At the start of the film, Ada and
Flora look like peas from the same pod with their identical clothes, in Ada's case showing a quiet,
dark power. More positively, her petticoat becomes a tent for her and her daughter on the beach.
When Flora shifts allegiances, she takes to wearing angel's wings, a gift from the parson's daughters,
and a sign that she is now being judgemental of her Mother's sins.

Analysis of Andre; S Mother by Terrence Mcnally Essay
Analysis of Andre's Mother by Terrence McNally
The play, Andre's Mother, by Terrence McNally is a story about accepting death and is based in a
story about a young man who died before telling his mother that he was gay; leaving the man's
partner to break the news and to inform the mother about how much he missed seeing her and his
fear of being rejected by her, in the time before his death. The theme of this story is to live life
everyday with no regrets. Throughout the symbols and references you begin to understand the life of
Andre. The white balloon represents letting go and leaving a young man in peace. The silence of his
mother shows that she never accepted his sexual preference. While Hamlet references the struggles
of his everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of the play Andre's mom with her own conflicts releases the balloon. The play write
quotes, "He goes, Andre's mother stands alone holding her white balloon. Her lips tremble. She
looks on the verge of breaking down. She looks at it awhile before she gently kisses it and lets go of
the balloon..." I believe at that point that Andre's mother forgave her son and was willing to wipe the
slate clean by releasing the white balloon and letting Andre's soul rest in peace. Andre's mother's
silence throughout the play shows that she never accepted her son's sexuality. Even though she
wasn't accepting she let her son rest in peace and let his soul ascend to heaven.
Andre's love of theater and the play Hamlet gave us an insight to his life. At the beginning of the
play Cal expresses Andre's love of theatre. Cal expresses, "God, how much he wanted to play
Hamlet again. He would have gone to Timbuktu to have another go at that part. The summer he did
in Boston, he was so happy!"(McNally 736). This reference to Hamlet, I believe showcases the
struggles Andre went through. Andre struggled with decision–making and avoiding things, as did
Hamlet. Hamlet struggled whether to avenge his father and struggled with the decision that he had
been avoiding. This is also apparent when Cal brings up Andre's great performance saying, "You
should have come up the summer he plated Hamlet. He was magnificent"(McNally 738). I believe

Axe Stereotypes
The phrase "the cleaner you are, the dirtier you get", has traditionally been very logical, meaning
that after you bathe, you are only going to get dirty –or unclean– from that point forward. However,
in today's society, the word "dirty" has an erotic and sexually suggestive connotation. Although this
ad reinforces negative gender stereotypes and is demeaning to women, men continue to buy Axe,
leading the company to become the champion of men's body products. This ad works in three ways:
it sexualizes women, it powerfully affects the target market, and the message is clear.
Axe's advertisement suggests a heterosexual sexually–driven reality of its predominantly male
customers and attempts to sell much more than a shower gel. This ad uses pathos to evoke an
emotional response from the audience. The word dirty, along with the image of a naked woman
covered in whip cream, implies that consumers of this product will be given the ultimate object of
their desire: a woman's body. Sex plays a huge role in reinforcing gender stereotypes. Although the
objectification of women is increasingly looked down upon in today's society, many ads for men's
products continue to use it for one reason – sex sells. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ad features a very scrawny, average–looking young man, shorter than the woman next to him.
She also appears to be older than the man, suggesting that using the product will lead to sex with an

things with whip cream to an older woman. Unlike most ads where the man in the photo is hunky
and muscular, this ad suggests that even average looking fellos can be with attractive women if they

Analysis Of The Poem ' Bleak Falls '
As the sun in all of its glory disappeared behind the mountains, with it went the last of the remaining
rays of warmth from the day. Lalaine shivered as sighed before squaring her shoulders and
continuing up the mountain side. Bleak Falls Barrow was just up ahead and if she hurried she could
make it back into Riverwood by this time tomorrow. She could make it back to Gurder and Hod's
house, back to Ralof and their warm bed. She rubbed a small cut under her rib, caused by a bandits
rogue arrow, and braced herself as the old tomb came into sight. Hiding behind a large rock she
listened to voices talk. Three voices, three people, three enemies. She could do this, or at least that 's

finished him off with a swing across his chest. He let out a hiss of pain before falling over into an

the doors of the barrow. The large doors loomed over her small form and she kicked them open, axe

within the first room. They attacked without mercy, each trying to bring her down and watch her

Alaskan Air Descriptive Writing
The black clouds of fate came in, sealing the doom of Alaskan Airlines flight #32 as God boomed
his fury through thunder, and sent a white hot lightning bolt to strike it down. The pilot came up on
the intercom, yelling to all the frightened passengers, "Fasten your seatbelts and curl into a ball!
We're going down!" I began to hold my mouth, my entire head flushing the color green as the plane

piece of the plane fell onto my head, knocking me out as cold as ice.

However, other historians (such as Evans) believe that were connected with the snake goddess. We
do not know why the Minoans worshipped snakes. However, it has been suggested that the Minoans
worshipped snakes for the following reasons: They may have symbolised the afterlife. This is
because they disappear into the ground at certain times of the day, only to reappear later on. They
may have symbolised rebirth or renewal. This is due to the fact that they shed their skin at certain
appears of the year. They may be associated with fertility. This is due to the fact that they ate rats

Bog Bodies Are Crucial to Our Understanding of the Past
Bog bodies are crucial to our understanding of the past. The bog bodies age from 8000 BC to the
early medieval times. The most important and well–preserved bog bodies are from northern Europe,
but bog bodies have also been found elsewhere in the world. Bog bodies allow for archaeologists
and scientists, with help from modern technology and dating equipment, too successfully uncover
and gain understanding of what past life was like. The alternative to bog bodies is skeletonized
remains, which just don't provide the very detailed insight into the lives of people from thousands of
years ago, that the bog bodies do. Unlike the skeletonized remains, bog bodies come with
appearance, clothing, equipment, occasionally in tact organs and evidence of violence, all of which
are lost on simple bone remains. The physical appearance preservation of the bog bodies is normally
in prime condition. Because of this condition it means that scientists and archaeologists are able to
study the features of the body and conclude things like the development of physical evolution from
the ancient body to bodies of modern society. They can also obtain information on the cause of
death of the body by seeing things like, for example, the Tollund man, who had a rope around his
neck that concluded he had been hung to death. And by concluding causes of death, it can also be
seen if the body was of sacrificial or a ritual demonstrating what burial practices were in place.
Clothing on bog bodies is also

Analysis Of ' My Father 's Axe '
"My Father's Axe", "In the Park", and "Her Kind" Identity Analysis Weland La
The composer of My Father's Axe, Tim Winton, explores the universal themes of male identity in
the modern age, throughout his short story. He utilises many relatable scenarios throughout his short
story which conveys the stereotypical male identity in today's society. "Jamie says he doesn't know
where the axe is and I believe him; he won't chop wood anymore. Elaine hasn't seen it; it's men's
business, she says". The composer is establishing the notion of an axe being a tool which is typically
related to the male gender. Tim Winton symbolises the axe as a tool which requires great physical
strength, a trait which the male identity are often expected to possess. The composer also depicts the
male identity as the person who is solely responsible for the functionality of a family, "He left me
with the responsibility of fueling the home" and "My mother called me the man of the house". "I
saw my father ball his handkerchief up and bite on it to muffle his sobs". The composer's use of
imagery visualises the father's attempts to hide his tears. This portrays the male identity as generally
being subconscious of their emotions. Crying is an action often stereotypically represented as a
weakness found mainly in the female identity, and not the male counterpart, therefore men often try
to hide these "feminine" feelings to retain their sense of masculinity. This notion suggest

The Significance of the discovery of the Iceman
The Iceman was discovered on the 19th September 1991 by a German couple, Helmut and Erika
Simons, who were hiking near the Austrian and Italian border in the Alps. They both had wandered
slightly off trail when Erika spotted a head and shoulders sticking out of the ice, she first thought it
was a discarded doll, but it was later found out to be an ancient traveler now known as the Iceman.
The Iceman was quickly named Otzi, after the valley Otzhal that was north of his death site. At one
glance, there really wasn't anything that special about Otzi, the significance of him was that he had
become the oldest, most prehistoric and well preserved mummy in the world, not since
Tutankhamen had anything stunned the world this much. After the ... Show more content on

He also stuffed grass into his boots to keep himself warm. Konrad Spindler was the one who
suggested that theory, he also suggested that the cause of death was a natural disaster, Otzi had laid
out his belongings into separate places, and then he had rested, and never woke ever again. It was
assumed that while he was resting, a sudden storm had come and he had died of hypothermia which
is said to be a painless death, then shortly after his death, the glacier had collapsed on top of him,
Otzi was a "victim of the weather" (Spindler), which also was the probably the reason why his body
and equipment was still so well preserved, and why it remained 'untouched' throughout the years.
Otzi was assumed to have died in autumn because that was when the shepherds would take their
flocks of sheep up into the Alps, and they had used a microscopic analysis to find out what he had
eaten, Otzi's last meal had consisted of dried wheat, bread, and some meat, what was surprising, was
that was also traces of pollen in the food. The pollen was acted as a "Fingerprint for each season"
(Spindler), because flowers and plants usually pollinated in autumn. After looking at what Otzi's diet
had been, the scientists looked inside Otzi using X–Rays and Cat Scans; they saw that Otzi's ribs
were severely distorted, so Spindler came up with the 'disaster theory'. In which Otzi was believed
to be a shepherd who came back to his village in autumn and somehow got into a quarrel or

1. Explain why the iceman was so well preserved? ( source one)
It is said that a frozen body will stay preserved over hundreds, even thousand of years.
During the first stage of investigations Austrian archaeologist Konrad Spindler researched the layout
which had proved that the iceman's body position and placement of weapons were preserved in the
same position from when the Iceman had died, it had also been proved that the body was initially
covered in a thin layer of snow which had helped complete the freeze drying process before it turned
into ice.
The body had been so well preserved because of the depth that the Iceman was actually lying in the
ground, which was near the watershed (watershed meaning a line of high land where streams ...

When the Egyptians extended their empire, tattooing extended as well to civilizations such as Crete,
Greece, Persia, and Arabia. Later on in 2000BC this form of body art also reached china. With
almost every culture influencing the practice of tattoo's, the concept ranged from medical purposes,
branding slaves to even determining the coming out of women. Examples include:
– In ancient Greek and Rome tattooing was used in order to brand slaves and criminals. Greeks also
used tattoos to identify and communicate with spies. It was during this period tattooing spread to
central Europe and tattoos were used for medical purposes such as acupuncture which would later
on influence the Chinese acupuncture society.
– In the Marquesas islands they were applied to dignify honour and status.
– Ainu people (western Asia) also used tattooing to show social status, for example a married
women would have a specific tattoo. The Ainu people soon introduced tattoos to Japan who used
them for religious rites
– In Borneo, as a cultural tradition women were actually tattooists. They used tattooing to identify

Epilogue Of George Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men
Epilogue
Two hours after George killed Lennie, George was at the bar with Curley and Slim to get a drink,
and the three began talking about Lennie, making George start to think if he had done the right thing
by shooting Lennie in the head. After the three left the bar, George walked out onto the street and
saw Curley's wife walking down the street. George decided to shrug it off and told himself that it
was all part of his imagination, and George returned to his house. Three years later, George had built
the house by the lake that Lennie had wanted, and George had buried Lennie's body in the backyard.
Later, George had decided to go to the bar to get a drink, when he got to the bar he saw Slim and
Carley, and Curley's wife all talking with each other. When the group saw George, he was in awe "I
thought that Lennie killed you..." he said to Curley's wife, Curley replied excitedly "Nope, i'm not
sure how but she is alive!" George was still confused, then Slim said "Stop asking so many
questions and come have a drink" George had then began thinking about how the only reason he
killed Lennie was because Lennie went too far to save by killing Curley's wife. After that, George
had began disconnecting himself with the rest of the group because he had become depressed after
he had learned that Lennie wasn't a murderer. Just as George was thinking about how he shouldn't
have killed Lennie, he heard a knock on his door, and he went to see who it was, Curley's wife was
at the door with Slim, and both were looking sad. George had opened the door for them, and said
"What happened?" Curley's wife looked back at him, and informed him that Curley had been
murdered. George beckoned the two inside is house, and said "Come in, do either of you want
anything to drink?" Curley's wife shook her head Slim walked her inside. The three sat down at a
table in George's house "Tell me what happened" George said nervously, Curley's wife replied, "I
was having an argument with Curley and he had gotten angry and stormed off, later, when i went
looking for him, I found him in the ranch, with an axe wound in his head." Curley's wife started

Source D is a drawing of flat axes, I concluded this as the drawings look similar to the development
of hand–axes. This provides a typological sequence as through the 'Darwinian theory' of evolution,
archaeologists applied the rule of "like goes with like" forming a rough chronological sequence. I
believe these axes to be from Bronze Age Britain between 2500 to 800 BC because they're made
from copper–alloy, this could be bronze–copper alloy as it was a common alloy used. These
drawings show the development of axes, the first drawing is the least developed of the axes and is
therefore the oldest, the flat axes in the beginning resembled the flint axes but later developed flares,
flanges and a ridge. The society that produced these axes were

The Common Man In Robert Bolt's A Man For All Seasons
In the opening lines of A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt, the Common Man proclaims, "It is
perverse! To start a play made up of Kings and Cardinals in speaking costumes and intellectuals
with embroidered mouths, with me" (3). The Common Man cannot believe that Bolt is choosing to
start off a play of Kings and Cardinals with a man such as himself. He does not believe he, a
Common Man, is worthy of this role. Within these opening lines the reader is faced with a question,
why did Bolt chose to allow the Common Man to begin the play? Bolt is attempting to make a point
about the presence of ordinariness and conformity, using Kings and Cardinals as an example of
characters who attempt to rise above and try to make a difference.
To begin, the play opens with a monologue by the Common Man. Bolt introduces the Common Man
in the opening lines with a monologue to show that the actions of the Common Man are important to
the play. To further justify the Common Mans purpose in the play; Bolt makes the Common Man a
narrator for the play. The Common Man takes on roles similar to a narrator by re–explaining scenes
and finding ways to engage the audience. Continuing within the first few opening lines, the audience
learns about the Common Man's basket of costumes and props that he uses to carry out his various
roles in the play, "(Backing towards the basket) Well, for a proposition of my own, I need a costume.
(Take out and puts on the coat and hat of Steward) Matthew! The Household of Steward of Sir
Thomas More!" (3). This basket introduces not only all the roles the Common Man has throughout
the play but it also signifies his importance to the play within just the first few pages. No other
character was chosen to play multiple roles in this play. Bolt chose to give the Common Man these
extra roles and narrator position because he knew he would be able to conform to such roles.
As well as pointing out the Common Man's multitude of roles in the play, Bolt also distinguishes the
Common Man's ability to make choices that go against his moral compass in order to stay alive,
unlike More. The contrast between More's willingness to die for what he believes in, and the
Common Man's unwillingness to stand up for anything at all,

The Iceman's Axe Essay
Murdered. He was murdered. Who? The 5,300 year old human time capsule, whose name is Ötzi.
Theories about the death of Otzi are as varied as the ages through which he's slept . Assassination by
an envious, bloodthirsty clan mate seems most plausible. This scenario is likely because of Otzi's
copper axe , the arrowhead which took his life, and a large cave drawing with a shocking story to
tell. Ötzi, like all of us, far from invincible, deserves justice.
The Iceman's axe is the first piece of important evidence to consider in this ancient cold case. Made
of smelted copper and advanced for his time, the axe signifies that Otzi was a man of power or

suggested by Ötzi's copper axe–– the coveted tribal symbol of status. Similarity of arrowheads

deed provide credible evidence which supports the assassination theory of the crime. Ötzi was
clearly killed by a skilled assassin determined to be his demise. Hopefully, someday, through yet

Summary: The Objectification Of Women In AXE Advertising
What is something that is a chef, personal maid, and raises adolescents? There are a few easy ways
to keep this "object" from becoming defective, simply just shower it with gifts from a tremendously
high paying career. This object is where everyone comes from, a woman. The objectification of
women is certainly not a new subject but with mass media, it has become more obvious than ever,
such as in AXE advertisements. Amanda Zimmerman and John Dahlberg said in a recent study,
"Since the rebirth of the women's movement in the 1960s, critics consistently have raged against the
way advertising treats women." Axe launched in France 1983, and was introduced to America. In

He then raise his arms in the air and smiles. How can one not see portrayal of women as an object
when watching their commercials? It seems as if their only desire is to please men, and they don't
mind sharing, which horrifically degrades women in every aspect. AXE advertisements repetitively
characterize the female gender as weak sexual fiends when they smells a nice fragrance on men. The
message is that if men wear more AXE then you will get more sex, in an attempt to advertise men
the idea that women are objects to be won, and can be done so with certain values. These
advertisements indirectly state that women are controlled by scents, a man's occupation, and a man's
physical features. The woman's heart was easily captured by the astronaut because of his worth, over
the masculine brave life guard. In a society where women have always been the weaker or less
dominating sex, it is easier to sell products to consumers conditioned in these

A nearby guard noticed Jax still standing outside the gate and pointed his spear threateningly.

"You 're bound to help the Elricsons, my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Yeah. I need to find Justin and Angel first though."
The couple across the street looked similar, but Justin never got handsy with Angel in public unless
he was totally hammered. A chuckle escaped Jax's lips when the sweethearts finally made their way
towards the local inn.
Ugh, those lovebirds are all that 's despicable about the human race.
"Meaning they 're good people?"
Is that what you would call it?
"In my book, at least."
Your book also says that it's the axe's fault that you don't have a job.
"How many times do we have to go over this?"
Until you stop blaming me for your problems.
"Not until you stop causing them. Now where did Justin say they'd be again?" The Tavern, like
always?
"The lake, I'm supposed to meet them at the lake. They probably went to the tavern first, but even
those two wouldn't meet with a kid in a tavern." I hardly think that a 16 year–old counts as a baby
goat. Then again, it is you, so...
Jax responded with an eye roll for the ages.
"Are you done?" Not quite, but it can wait.
"Good. they're probably done drinking by now anyway." Are they ever done drinking?
"Technically, yes. Otherwise, no. But in their defense, they have a lot of reasons to drink. Justin's
brother, whom he practically raised, found a wife and gave up the family business, Angel's siblings
are running amok somewhere, and from what I've heard shapeshifting does a number on your
insides." Why haven't they retired then? Gone to live in a cottage somewhere and be

Lizzie Borden Took An Axe
Lizzie Borden took an axe... Or did she?
Hello, this is my opinion on Lizzie, although the poem says she took an axe, what was John doing,
the maid, and sister? The maid was the only person in the house besides Lizzie and Abbi. Did they
set up the murders? John was out of town, suspiciously, and the sister was out with a friend. The
father was running errands. Lizzie had an attorney and claimed Lizzie was sleeping during the
murders. And if these people did associate with Lizzie, why, they as much to gain as anyone? Did
Andrew choose ,favorites? Was Abbi a bad mother? We may never know.
My last thing to say about Lizzie, is why did she kill her parents? Lizzie had nothing to gain by
killed her parents, so why? If killing her parents did nothing she must have had a different plan.
Maybe Lizzie wanted mental comfort, or revenge on something that may have happened when she
was a child. The house was 300,000 dollars in total estate, which 8 million dollars in modern
society. Due to this Lizzie may have wanted to sell the house, but she remained living in the Borden
family house until she died 1927 from

pneumonia.
Lizzie Borden is said to have taken the axe, what if someone else gave her mother forty whacks?
Bridget the maid was right outside of the bedroom window during the murders, it was a hot summer
day so I suspect the windows were open. Bridget could have reached in through the windows and
killed Abbi, but, where did the axe come from? The murder weapon could have been a meat
tenderizer, I say this because the only other weapon in the house they could've had that would equal
to the axe would be a meat tenderizer.
Why is it that one hundred years later we still strive to solve the

Storm Of Axes Research Paper
Storm of Axes Forward the axe flew like lightning through the air, it's spinning vortex leering at me
as it seeks to cull my life. I raise my shield, a thundering THOOM! echoing across the battle as the
axe sinks it's teeth into the bulwark of my defense. I step forward my arm of sixty seven years
wielding my broadsword like one would hold a lover's hand and then the hymn of Asgard fills my
soul. The gods accept my victory as they have many times before. My foe falls to my feet, life–less
in this realm, but more alive than he ever has been in another. I am Vunrdum, warrior elite to Jarl
Tyrnarion and legend for shield and blade. All my life I have fought, I have stood upon the ruins of
the Paris wall. I have taken a life from all of the kingdoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I struggle each step, four weeks I have walked, and the cold drenching flood of exhaustion hangs at
my heels. The crow urges me on and onwards I go. Sometimes I stumble, and sometimes I fall, and
the crow calls again and I raise. I refuse to die like this, I will not fall to the weary. I will not die
from the frigid cold. Only by blade will I accept death, and so, I continue. Over mountains I tread,
my beard growing long bushy and white, shielding my wrinkled skin from the elements. Bounding
over ice–frozen streams with walking stick in hand. Soon, the land loses it's green, and becomes
painted in only black ice and grey stone. The chill of the winter changes in feeling. Not only was my
body cold, but this dark land chilled the very essence of my soul. The ice loses it's reflection and
instead shows the bones of the damned. Lost bodies entrapped to frost prisoners of their fate. Their
skulls empty of emotion aside from the layers of preserved flesh in the snow. Yet, I continue on. I
know well that I may be among these bones soon. Be it either the shadow giant, or one of its beasts.
I cross over a frejold of black muck once had been snow. It clasps at my wolf–fur boots as though it
desires a great hunger, and with each tearing step forward I grow

Personal Philosophy Of Leadership

  • 1. Personal Philosophy Of Leadership Artisans all have tools they proudly weld in the pursuit of their craft. Musicians have their instruments of wood, brass, string and voice. Sculptors and painters have their materials of metals, clays, pigments and canvas while dancers use their bodies and costumes. These items are all used as tools of personal expression for the artist. Many artists appear to be born with natural talents for their art or are drawn to one medium of expression over another, but none excel at their craft without dedication and deliberate practice. The same is true for leadership. Not all who effectively lead are born with innate abilities that attract followers. Each of us brings our own combination of life experiences, personal traits and stylistic preferences to the practice of leadership. Through the act of deliberate reflection and contemplation, we become aware of ourselves and how our experiences and traits are likely to help or hinder our pursuit of effective leadership. We become aware of our personal truths, our strengths and our faults and I believe this is the foundation from which leadership is built. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The community may be a business with goals of sales and profit or it may be a professional, civic or volunteer association with goals of serving the needs of others. The community may even be our own individual family focusing on the growth and education of our loved ones. Each of these communities have their own goals and purposes and we are members of them all. It is in these varying roles of our lives that the context of leadership exists. As leaders, we excel in our craft not in the specific traits and behaviors we exhibit to provide control or influence but in the interactions we cultivate with the members of our communities as we guide them towards common ... • 3. Price : Axe Body Spray Essay Price: AXE Body Spray The price of AXE body spray can be found on the AXE website, where it lists prices at different retailers, where it ranges from $3.97–$5.97 depending on where you purchase it (Phoenix). The price is the value paid for a product in a marketing exchange (Pride & Ferrell). People who use AXE body spray on a consistent basis will develop an internal reference price, which is a price developed in the buyer's mind through experience with the product (Pride & Ferrell). Thus, when people constantly use this product, they may price it in their mind around $5 dollars, so they know if they want to go purchase it from the store it will cost them around this amount. In reference to these people who commonly use AXE body spray, they can be classified to a certain type of consumer. They would be considered value–conscious consumers, or consumers concerned about price and quality of a product (Pride & Ferrell). Thus, people who use AXE buy it because it is relatively cheap but they also buy it because of its perceived benefits, getting the girl, which give it a high quality level in a consumers mind. The pricing of AXE body spray seems to be based on non–price competition, which emphasizes factors other than price to distinguish a product from competing brands (Pride & Ferrell). This distinguishing factor seems to be the type of advertisements that AXE runs, which are sexier compared to competitors' advertisements, and the message of the ads that state that using the ... • 5. The Man Under The Axe The executioner stood over the man––his axe raised over his head, ready to strike. The man under the axe was unmistakably too calm to be someone who was about to be executed. The man got in his slaying stance, and he was ready to strike when two arrows simultaneously flew through both of his eyes, splattering a dark crimson red liquid all over the calm man and the plaza, as well as sending the plaza into a state of utter panic, chaos, and general pandemonium, save for the man who still had his same cool, calm, and collected expression and seemed completely unfazed by the fact that two arrows had just shot through someone's eyes and he just looked forward as if nothing had happened. He was dressed in fine clothing made of silk, which had been made dirty from him being dragged around by the men to where he was supposed to be executed. Immediately, forty riflemen looked around them to no avail. Seeing as someone stealthy that they couldn't do anything about wanted the man alive, the soldiers decided to tell their commander that one of them found his body down by a riverbank surrounded by a dozen wolves. Having agreed upon this story, they left the scene and put the body in the riverbank. Once the soldiers had left, a shadowy figure with a cloak which was a color darker than death's hand as it wraps itself around your skin, around your throat, completely nullifying any ability to breathe, completely annihilating any traces of your existence, came out from the wood's brush. • 11. The Death Of Trotsky By David Ives Violence has been a part of plays for centuries. It keeps the play interesting and intriguing, but however, most of the time there is a greater purpose of violence. When looking for it in plays one would automatically look for weapons or signs of physically harming someone like. However, verbiage can be an act of violence as well. The phrase, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me is false. Your tongue has no bones, but is strong enough to hurt another person. Like in the play The Stronger by August Strindberg where Miss Y is verbally insulted countless of times. Whereas in the play Variations on the Death of Trotsky by David Ives one can see the physical violence by the tragic murder that occurred. After distinguishing where the violence is coming from one can then analyze the true role of the violence and compare how the violence affect the dramas. When looking at The Stronger you can see just how Miss Y in verbally insulted over and over again by Mrs. X. While Miss Y is just sitting at a table by herself minding her own business when Mrs. X shows up. During the entire play Miss Y does not say one word while Mrs. X insults her and says rude things like, "Poor Amelia, I pity you, nevertheless, because I knew you are unhappy, unhappy like one who has been wounded, and angry because you are wounded."() She just assumes that she is unhappy because she is in a café by herself on a holiday. • 13. What are the Political Axes Freedom and Authority 1. In your own words, what do the two axes of Political Compass represent? There are many approaches to the political spectrum, one of which involves two–dimensional model of Political Compass, which explores the view of a person divided by two aspects social (Authoritarian and Libertarian) and economic (Left and Right view). The model is represented by two axes which divided the politics into four main areas. The relationship is strong between freedom and authority as in some cases and instances authority defines freedom in either absolute or minimum. The Political Compass took into consideration economic view which is sometimes the easiest way to define somebody's dependence on the system and therefore the individual's freedom to act. The Political Compass are decided by the two axes of: a. The Left–Right axis Taking on the economic approach Right and Left one can distinguish major debates and differences that distinguish people categorizing them along the line of those two extremes which divides power to individual or all power to the State. It is reasonable to say that the Left is defined in desire for an economy to be run and manipulated by solely the state. It is believed that it is the State's responsibility to ensure welfare for people through planning and implementing, a trade–unionist and communist would be considered Left ideology where all are equal. • 17. The Death Of Trotsky I was walking again. I do that a lot, because walking relaxes me. Sometimes it just feels nice to stretch your legs, and get some fresh air. The Moscow air is so fresh that it burns your face a bit, but I know that a little hypothermia is good for the soul. God, I sound like air supply. Anyway, it was cold again. I mean it's always cold in Moscow, but today it was different, because this walk wasn't for nothing. I was intent on my purpose, so I moved at a brisk pace. I sped up, but made sure not to go too fast so that the ice pick didn't dig into my thigh. I was walking to Leon's house to kill him. As I stated earlier, I intend on killing Trotsky. I knew what would come if I was victorious, but I felt pangs of guilt strike my heart. I became unsure on whether or not I could kill him. After all, he wasn't an enemy of the party, but a comrade. He may have views that I despise, but he was pure at heart. Maybe, he rejected his perfect life for a better one. There was just a chance that he was one of us, that he sympathized with the workers, and wanted Russia to have the bright future of communist red. I mentally scolded myself. I was intent on killing this man, and some weak remorse cannot stop me. Remorse is an emotion that plays into empathy, and empathy is my enemy. Empathy is something that people who cry feel. It is a tool of the upper class to make the lower class stay low, but I can't stop it. When I was a child, I learned how feeling is wrong. I learned that caring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His leather boots kicked dust up from the arena floor as he moved in a slow circle, trying to get his back to the sun and diminish my line of sight. It was a good trick, but there was just one problem with that. I knew what he was trying to do. Even if I could keep him from blinding me, that hulking axe of his would do some major damage. If he hit me with that, no amount of blocking would keep my head from getting caved in like a casaba melon. Unfortunately, I was only good up close. I'd have to engage him sooner or later, and since his arms were longer than mine, I'd have to be quick. Even a cursory blow from him would mean trouble since the wardings on his gauntlets let me know he had ogre strength. That said, I'd done this dance a million times before. On the other, you have young guys putting on some spray that attracts all the females to him. The smell of the spray making a person look more attractive. Benjamin Franklin Speckled Axe By looking at Benjamin Franklin's use of metaphor in comparing the attempt at perfection in a human to that in an axe, it is evident that he believes perfection is a laborious task, which proves that, in explaining the difficulty of fulfillment, he is attempting to persuade people to adhere to his lifestyle, as it will produce the desired results. Benjamin Franklin, throughout his life, wrote many articles about his ideas regarding the achievement of perfection in all aspects of life. Immediately succeeding one such article, he explains the difficulty of obtaining said superiority by using the metaphor of a man grinding a speckled axe upon a stone repeatedly to make its surface flawless before conceding that an imperfect axe is easier to attain and therefore best.. To illustrate the cause of the man's failure, Franklin says that "...this may have been the case with many who, having, for want of some such means as I employed, found the difficulty of obtaining good... have given up the struggle, and concluded that a speckled axe was best..." He states that many people who do not have the instruments for perfection that he himself wields, have found that obtaining it is too challenging, which leads to capitulation. ... • 43. Analysis of Andre; S Mother by Terrence Mcnally Essay Analysis of Andre's Mother by Terrence McNally The play, Andre's Mother, by Terrence McNally is a story about accepting death and is based in a story about a young man who died before telling his mother that he was gay; leaving the man's partner to break the news and to inform the mother about how much he missed seeing her and his fear of being rejected by her, in the time before his death. The theme of this story is to live life everyday with no regrets. Throughout the symbols and references you begin to understand the life of Andre. The white balloon represents letting go and leaving a young man in peace. The silence of his mother shows that she never accepted his sexual preference. While Hamlet references the struggles of his everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of the play Andre's mom with her own conflicts releases the balloon. The play write quotes, "He goes, Andre's mother stands alone holding her white balloon. Her lips tremble. She looks on the verge of breaking down. She looks at it awhile before she gently kisses it and lets go of the balloon..." I believe at that point that Andre's mother forgave her son and was willing to wipe the slate clean by releasing the white balloon and letting Andre's soul rest in peace. Andre's mother's silence throughout the play shows that she never accepted her son's sexuality. Even though she wasn't accepting she let her son rest in peace and let his soul ascend to heaven. Andre's love of theater and the play Hamlet gave us an insight to his life. At the beginning of the play Cal expresses Andre's love of theatre. Cal expresses, "God, how much he wanted to play Hamlet again. He would have gone to Timbuktu to have another go at that part. The summer he did in Boston, he was so happy!"(McNally 736). This reference to Hamlet, I believe showcases the struggles Andre went through. Andre struggled with decision–making and avoiding things, as did Hamlet. Hamlet struggled whether to avenge his father and struggled with the decision that he had been avoiding. This is also apparent when Cal brings up Andre's great performance saying, "You should have come up the summer he plated Hamlet. He was magnificent"(McNally 738). I believe the Hamlet ... Axe Stereotypes The phrase "the cleaner you are, the dirtier you get", has traditionally been very logical, meaning that after you bathe, you are only going to get dirty –or unclean– from that point forward. However, in today's society, the word "dirty" has an erotic and sexually suggestive connotation. Although this ad reinforces negative gender stereotypes and is demeaning to women, men continue to buy Axe, leading the company to become the champion of men's body products. This ad works in three ways: it sexualizes women, it powerfully affects the target market, and the message is clear. Axe's advertisement suggests a heterosexual sexually–driven reality of its predominantly male customers and attempts to sell much more than a shower gel. This ad uses pathos to evoke an emotional response from the audience. The word dirty, along with the image of a naked woman covered in whip cream, implies that consumers of this product will be given the ultimate object of their desire: a woman's body. Sex plays a huge role in reinforcing gender stereotypes. Although the objectification of women is increasingly looked down upon in today's society, many ads for men's products continue to use it for one reason – sex sells. ... The most important and well–preserved bog bodies are from northern Europe, but bog bodies have also been found elsewhere in the world. Bog bodies allow for archaeologists and scientists, with help from modern technology and dating equipment, too successfully uncover and gain understanding of what past life was like. The alternative to bog bodies is skeletonized remains, which just don't provide the very detailed insight into the lives of people from thousands of years ago, that the bog bodies do. Unlike the skeletonized remains, bog bodies come with appearance, clothing, equipment, occasionally in tact organs and evidence of violence, all of which are lost on simple bone remains. The physical appearance preservation of the bog bodies is normally in prime condition. Because of this condition it means that scientists and archaeologists are able to study the features of the body and conclude things like the development of physical evolution from the ancient body to bodies of modern society. They can also obtain information on the cause of death of the body by seeing things like, for example, the Tollund man, who had a rope around his neck that concluded he had been hung to death. And by concluding causes of death, it can also be seen if the body was of sacrificial or a ritual demonstrating what burial practices were in place. Clothing on bog bodies is also ... Analysis Of ' My Father 's Axe ' "My Father's Axe", "In the Park", and "Her Kind" Identity Analysis Weland La The composer of My Father's Axe, Tim Winton, explores the universal themes of male identity in the modern age, throughout his short story. He utilises many relatable scenarios throughout his short story which conveys the stereotypical male identity in today's society. "Jamie says he doesn't know where the axe is and I believe him; he won't chop wood anymore. Elaine hasn't seen it; it's men's business, she says". The composer is establishing the notion of an axe being a tool which is typically related to the male gender. Tim Winton symbolises the axe as a tool which requires great physical strength, a trait which the male identity are often expected to possess. The composer also depicts the male identity as the person who is solely responsible for the functionality of a family, "He left me with the responsibility of fueling the home" and "My mother called me the man of the house". "I saw my father ball his handkerchief up and bite on it to muffle his sobs". The composer's use of imagery visualises the father's attempts to hide his tears. This portrays the male identity as generally being subconscious of their emotions. Crying is an action often stereotypically represented as a weakness found mainly in the female identity, and not the male counterpart, therefore men often try to hide these "feminine" feelings to retain their sense of masculinity. The Significance of the discovery of the Iceman The Iceman was discovered on the 19th September 1991 by a German couple, Helmut and Erika Simons, who were hiking near the Austrian and Italian border in the Alps. They both had wandered slightly off trail when Erika spotted a head and shoulders sticking out of the ice, she first thought it was a discarded doll, but it was later found out to be an ancient traveler now known as the Iceman. The Iceman was quickly named Otzi, after the valley Otzhal that was north of his death site. After the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also stuffed grass into his boots to keep himself warm. Konrad Spindler was the one who suggested that theory, he also suggested that the cause of death was a natural disaster, Otzi had laid out his belongings into separate places, and then he had rested, and never woke ever again. It was assumed that while he was resting, a sudden storm had come and he had died of hypothermia which is said to be a painless death, then shortly after his death, the glacier had collapsed on top of him, Otzi was a "victim of the weather" (Spindler), which also was the probably the reason why his body and equipment was still so well preserved, and why it remained 'untouched' throughout the years. Otzi was assumed to have died in autumn because that was when the shepherds would take their flocks of sheep up into the Alps, and they had used a microscopic analysis to find out what he had eaten, Otzi's last meal had consisted of dried wheat, bread, and some meat, what was surprising, was that was also traces of pollen in the food. The pollen was acted as a "Fingerprint for each season" (Spindler), because flowers and plants usually pollinated in autumn. After looking at what Otzi's diet had been, the scientists looked inside Otzi using X–Rays and Cat Scans; they saw that Otzi's ribs were severely distorted, so Spindler came up with the 'disaster theory'. Epilogue Of George Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men Of Mice and Men Epilogue Two hours after George killed Lennie, George was at the bar with Curley and Slim to get a drink, and the three began talking about Lennie, making George start to think if he had done the right thing by shooting Lennie in the head. After the three left the bar, George walked out onto the street and saw Curley's wife walking down the street. George decided to shrug it off and told himself that it was all part of his imagination, and George returned to his house. Three years later, George had built the house by the lake that Lennie had wanted, and George had buried Lennie's body in the backyard. Later, George had decided to go to the bar to get a drink, when he got to the bar he saw Slim and Carley, and Curley's wife all talking with each other. When the group saw George, he was in awe "I thought that Lennie killed you..." he said to Curley's wife, Curley replied excitedly "Nope, i'm not sure how but she is alive!" George was still confused, then Slim said "Stop asking so many questions and come have a drink" George had then began thinking about how the only reason he killed Lennie was because Lennie went too far to save by killing Curley's wife. After that, George had began disconnecting himself with the rest of the group because he had become depressed after he had learned that Lennie wasn't a murderer. Just as George was thinking about how he shouldn't have killed Lennie, he heard a knock on his door, and he went to see who it was, Curley's wife was at the door with Slim, and both were looking sad. George had opened the door for them, and said "What happened?" Curley's wife looked back at him, and informed him that Curley had been murdered. To start a play made up of Kings and Cardinals in speaking costumes and intellectuals with embroidered mouths, with me" (3). The Common Man cannot believe that Bolt is choosing to start off a play of Kings and Cardinals with a man such as himself. He does not believe he, a Common Man, is worthy of this role. Within these opening lines the reader is faced with a question, why did Bolt chose to allow the Common Man to begin the play? Bolt is attempting to make a point about the presence of ordinariness and conformity, using Kings and Cardinals as an example of characters who attempt to rise above and try to make a difference. To begin, the play opens with a monologue by the Common Man. Bolt introduces the Common Man in the opening lines with a monologue to show that the actions of the Common Man are important to the play. To further justify the Common Mans purpose in the play; Bolt makes the Common Man a narrator for the play. The Common Man takes on roles similar to a narrator by re–explaining scenes and finding ways to engage the audience. Continuing within the first few opening lines, the audience learns about the Common Man's basket of costumes and props that he uses to carry out his various roles in the play, "(Backing towards the basket) Well, for a proposition of my own, I need a costume. (Take out and puts on the coat and hat of Steward) Matthew! The Household of Steward of Sir Thomas More!" (3). This basket introduces not only all the roles the Common Man has throughout the play but it also signifies his importance to the play within just the first few pages. No other character was chosen to play multiple roles in this play. Bolt chose to give the Common Man these extra roles and narrator position because he knew he would be able to conform to such roles. As well as pointing out the Common Man's multitude of roles in the play, Bolt also distinguishes the Common Man's ability to make choices that go against his moral compass in order to stay alive, unlike More.
