Christian College Goals
Statistics show that anywhere from 40%–80% of high school Christians abandon their faith within
their first year of college. This is a huge problem that needs to be fixed. The youth of today and
tomorrow need strong Christian leaders who are able to fortify their faith before moving away into
the real world. There are three key factors that lead to this high percentage: Students are unprepared,
they are in a more hostile environment, and our natural inclination to sin and fall away from God to
pursue our own worldly passions. Students, who cannot effectively defend their faith, are going into
a more hostile environment with less Christians and are being offered alternative world views that
allow them to follow their own desires. We can't do a lot to change their environment or human
nature, but we can build up young Christians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduce them to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who can empower them to be life changers. There
is so much potential in the youth that is being wasted because they aren't taught how to adequately
defend and share their faith. That is why I want to go a faith–based Christian college who are
building up leaders. I want to become one of the leaders that drastically reduces this statistic. To
become the great leader that I want to be, I am going to need to go to a great Christian college to
further my education in the Christian faith. I want to learn how to more effectively build up other
Christian leaders. The church is always one generation away from dying out. If there aren't leaders
who can strengthen the youth, the church is in big trouble. If the church is in trouble, the whole

The Christian Life
The Christian life is a discussion that the details of its description such as the definition, ground and
power are not easy to explain. The scriptures paint a vast web of each author's ideals on what the
Christian life should be. For example, in I Corinthians 6: 1–8 we see Paul referring to the different
standards that must prevail in the Christian community and then in Ephesians we see the distinction
of Christians from the nations. (Hessert, 16) Every Christian has this picture of what living the
Christian life should be. Not every picture is the same but certain concepts are universal. The golden
rule 'do unto others, as you have done unto you' is a prime example. Every sect of Christianity is
different yet the golden rule stands throughout all religion sects. The Christian life is complex
because there are so many factors that play into it. The most vital parts of the life are to understand
that we belong to God and we must follow the guidelines that he has set forth and to follow the path
of progress even in the times that it becomes unclear.
The Christian life is filled with joy, complexity and peace that people can find, even in their darkest
of times. Through faith many feel that "we are not our own masters, but belong to God." (Calvin, 1)
The ideals are very straight forward in the sense that we are to provide our bodies to God as a living
sacrifice and live by him. We must not conform to the fashion of the world, but be transformed by
the renewal of our minds, so

This is a false conclusion. The Holy Spirit works through the scriptures, and teachers, and prayer,
and the individual efforts of each person. We can and must depend upon Him to teach us and lead
us. Jesus said it this way: "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all
truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will
shew you things to come," (John 16:13). Yet the discerning Christian will take these words in
balance with all of scripture. We understand that we have, according to 1–Cor., within us the mind
of Christ. For this reason, the words of scripture and the teachings of good leaders are not
foolishness to us. Thus we identify, through the Spirit of God, those who can guide us in wisdom,
truth, and discernment. If you would experience spiritual discernment, put your trust in the Holy
Spirit as your guide; yet forsake not these other things. The Burden I have written to Christians,
people who know Jesus as Lord and Savior, people who were once completely blind and without
any sense of spiritual discernment at all. Now, we walk a new way, growing and maturing, still
struggling, but always

Beowulf as Christian Propaganda
The literary work of Beowulf is believed, by many, to contain numerous attributes of Christian
propaganda. Throughout the story of Beowulf, there are several circumstances and coincidences that
distinctly relate to the Christian belief system. One can only imagine that these ideas of Christian
propaganda; which include the use of Christian themes and beliefs in works of literary art, were
strategically placed throughout the story of Beowulf to help the conversion from the old world
pagan religious belief system to the Christian beliefs of the new world. Historians believe that
Beowulf was written sometime in the eighth century in England. This fact is important because
during this era, society was in the process of converting from ... Show more content on

While Beowulf may represent Christ in this part of the story, it can be viewed that Grendel
represents the devil. The battle between Beowulf and Grendel can represent the Christian theme of
good versus evil. To make the connection even more solid, Grendel is referred to as a descendant of
Cain, whom Satan tricks into sinning and committing the first murder in the human world. Grendel
represents the image of a man fallen from grace through sin. Like Satan who is jealous of the
happiness and joy that Adam and Eve have in the Garden of Eden, Grendel is jealous of the
happiness and joy in Heorot. Grendel, as with Satan, is a rival of God and poses a great challenge to
Beowulf, just as evil poses a challenge to Christians. Another connection that Grendel shares with
the devil is his dwelling. Grendel lives in an underworld just as Satan lives in hell. Grendel is
referred to in the poem as "the guardian of sins". These small hints of the Christian culture to come
are a way of slowly introducing the Christian beliefs to the common people, and perhaps getting
them ready for the introduction of the stories of Jesus and his teachings. This way, they have
something to relate the stories of Jesus to, and the ideas of Jesus are not so new and shocking.
Perhaps the strongest relation to Christianity in Beowulf is in the last battle scene of the story. The
dragon is Beowulf 's last and most intriguing battle. The dragon can be viewed as

Christian Perspective : Christian Worldview And Maturity
Christian World View
The thought of Christian world view probably never came across our minds prior to salvation. But it
happens to be reflect everything we say or do whether we know it or not. Humanity beliefs about
God history and ultimately helps shapes how we live. We all remember the moment when accepted
Christ as our Savior, we are born again spiritually into God 's kingdom . But just as a newborn baby
needs milk for growth and maturity, we as a baby Christian needs spiritual food for growth. (1peter

As naturalism continues to invade our schools, far too many followers of Christ are unable to
determine between the wisdom of man and the truth of God 's Word. A Christian worldview, on the
other hand, answers the three questions biblically: 1) We are God's creation, designed to govern the
world and fellowship with Him (Genesis1:27 ) 2) We sinned against God and subjected the whole
world to a curse (Genesis 3). 3) God Himself has redeemed the world through the sacrifice of His
Son, Jesus Christ (Genesis3:15) (Luke 19,10)and will one day restore creation to its perfect state
(Isaiah 65:17–25). A Christian worldview leads us to believe in moral absolutes, miracles, human
dignity, and the possibility of redemption.
Why is it important for Christians to have and live out a Biblically based Christian worldview?
Philip Graham Ryken believes that the Church will fail to have a transforming influence on their
culture where this is lacking.
God has revealed Himself, and who we are in relation to Him and the world He has created. He
quotes Francis Schaffer writing about God 's revealed truth p.15" truth about reality, not just about
religious things. Biblical Christianity is truth concerning total reality." To understand and make
sense out of the world in which we live, we must know the God who has made it and what He has
revealed about Himself and His creation. Without that we only have our vain and futile imaginations

Christian Dream Interpretation Of A Christian
Christian Dream Interpretation
The spiritual interpretation of dreams is lost to many modern–day Christians. However, this
forgotten language is available for those who seek God, especially in prayer. Those who seek will
find and answers sought in prayer may be revealed through dreams where the quiet voice of God is
able to reach one in a most intimate way. Dreams are one of the ways that Crist reveals himself to us
and touches our hearts on a very personal level.
Historically speaking, dreams have been the most prominent form of communication between the
creator and his people. Because of this, Satan has worked hard to convince people to ignore God's
message in the form of dreams and visions. Unfortunately, today very few Christians are

Top Sites for Christian Singles
"You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with." ––Wayne Dyer
While I enjoy being single, I do occasionally like male company for dinner, dancing or just good
conversation. Fortunately, there are many sites for singles to find friends, dates and even mates;
however, I was interested in sites for Christian singles.
After contacting several megachurches to inquire as to which sites were most used by their singles,
we learned that the directors for the ministries were not asking this question and the singles where
not volunteering the information–although the felt the services were being used. The single ministry

After speaking with those who have personally used the services, what they liked most on any
dating site are pre–screened members (i.e., background checks) and the ability to browse potential
candidate during a trial or free membership.
One site, Bigchurch.com, is owned by Penthouse Media Group. Knowing that even non–Christian
sites are not 100% authentic, some Christian singles sites do publish statements or articles of faith. A
few of the Christian singles sites admitted to not wanting to publish a statement of faith so that no
one would feel excluded.
Christian Mingle, owned by Sparks Networks, primarily has members in the US and some in
Canada. They provide opportunities for members to express his or her faith, share a bible passage,
and list a church or ministry affiliation. The profile took five minutes to complete–even asking
open–ended questions to allow you to express yourself. Member fees are $29.99 per month;
however, with a six–month contract, the fee is $13.99 per month.

Music at its Finest Reading the article III it brought to mind how I like listening to Christian music.
It states it appeal to first to the emotion and then to the intellect. Some of that I know to be the truth

Troubles arise after trying to deliver to a class of people not willing to accept what is being taught.
The vehicle must be able to accept and receive all criticism of how and what went wrong. Earl H.
Gaulke suggests we should listen to the rhythmic chants of childhood, and you have a key to what
and how of teaching songs. A child's mind so innocent, he/ she bellows out sounds hoping to be
singing. Wrapped in a blanket full of notes to follow with sounds. I know for myself that in a church
rehearsal setting one common challenge we have are for the pupil to understand the proper ways of
learning. Church choirs need some education in music. Conceiving the right methods are a plus.
Accordingly, we gather information from teachers promoted to teach music and has no music ability

Spend time in learning how to fit the music. Except all it has to offer you. Life has many ups and
downs, music is the one way you can and will get through it. A true relief is a music removing stress

Christian Education Goals
Why I Want to Become a Certified Dean of Christian Education
I was approached a few years ago about directing the teaching and learning for my local church. I
was hesitant, but I am delighted that I answered the call. I have spent four (4) years of study in the
Certificate of Progress (COPP) Program and my biblical knowledge and spiritual growth have been
a blessing. I have realized that although I have spent my life in the church, My work was limited to
serving on committees and proudly be a member in good standing. Being a member in good
standing may have merit, but it is not what we are called to do as Christians. Although I regularly
attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, I realized that my biblical knowledge was
seriously lacking.
Now that I have completed my COPP studies, I have been asked to assist with administering future
Christian Leadership Schools. As a Christian educator, I see my purpose in helping to inform and to
help believers to understand the Bible. Understanding that the local church exists to honor God by
making and maturing disciples, I know that this can happen through organized Christian Education
programming. I want to help Bible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Early Christian Church
The story of the early Christian church involves a number of experiences of persecution. Most of the
conflicts happen between Christians and Jews. Acts narrates that Peter and John were arrested by
Sadducees (4:3–22), then harshly questioned by the Sanhedrin (5:17–42), and then flogged for what
they believed in (5:40). The readers can begin to see the reason for persecution from the start–their
belief in the unconditional love and resurrection of Jesus. Acts continues to show the demonstration
of persecution by telling the stories of how Saul imprisoned many Christians (Ch. 8); how Jews plot
to kill Paul (9:23–24, 20:19, 23:12–14); how King Herod executed James and imprisons Peter
(12:1–5); how Paul and Barnabas were driven out of Antioch ... Show more content on

From the beginning of Acts, readers can see that Saul began persecuting the church, "entering house
after house; and dragging off men and women, he would put them in prison." This caused many
Christians to scatter across the regions. Therefore, those who left started preaching the word; not
only to the Jews, but also to the Gentiles. Readers must remember that "a definition of the word
'church'" is "belonging to the Lord." If the church belongs to the Lord, nothing can destroy it; "Or, as
Gamaliel advised the Jewish council, 'If this plan or action should be of men, it will be overthrown;
but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting
against God'" (5:38–39). Christians are continually encouraged throughout Scripture to stand firm in
their beliefs and faith in Jesus. Today, persecution may look different or not as physical in some
areas in the world, but it is still an active part of being a Christian. Again, as Fernando tells us,
"...that persecution may be a necessary part of the Christian life." Though Christians in the 21st
century America do not suffer physical abuse, they do suffer from the constant pressure by the
media forced beliefs, Political Correctness, being viewed as ignorant, etc. In the book of Acts, you
do not read about the church fighting each other over denominational beliefs, but fighting for Jesus
against the Jews.

Christians and the Environment "For this is what the Lord says, he did not create it to be empty, but
formed it to be inhabited" (Isaiah 45:18 NIV). Meaning that our earthly habitat is not unexpected, it
is worth more than anything in this world. "For by him all things were created: things in heaven and
or earth, visible and invisible, weather thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were
created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together" (Colossians
1:16–17 NIV). We learn in Genesis that when God created the world he took his time proclaiming it
as good. This good creation was rich and different, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God tell us to care for our bodies, so also we can praise God by the care we give to our environment.
In Papua New Guinea the church group got together of 15 people and wrote a book on Christians
caring for the environment. In New Guinea there focus was the future of their kids, grandchildren,
and great–grandchildren. Also the change in our personal lifestyle practices can help. For example,
smoking which we are polluting the earth. The homes we buy, why do we need all the technology in
the world in our house. Another way Christians we can preserve our environment is by using
alternate methods of transportation. For example, in Tokyo most people do not even own cars they
ride bikes to the train station to utilize resourceful means to get to work. The way gas prices keep
going out we are going to have to rely on public transportation which is better for the environment
now than driving vehicles. I am glad that now we have Hybrid cars to help with the pollution. Many
religions have different insight on how to preserve the environment. For example In India, they
practice Hindu which means ("the external essence of life"). They believe that it is clear their God
which is known as Vishnu is part of everything. The environment is a place with people with
consciousness such as land, plants, animals, and people in which all are connected. They believe all
living creatures have souls, and when people or animals die their souls live in plant, animals,

Christian Eschatology
Eschatology is defined as a branch of theology that outlines the final events of the world and of
mankind. It is also the study of the ultimate purpose of the world and God's intentions. In
Christianity, eschatology is often viewed as a forbidden subject in the study of theology. On the
other hand, some regard eschatology as the most influential part of their religious life because they it
determines the way in which they live their lives. These people live by a set of rules and ethics set
by the Bible because they want to have the favorable experience after death that was outlined in the
Christian Eschatology. In Christianity, death is thought to be the point at which the soul leaves its
earthly body and the soul is at rest until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, this view stems from looking at the punishment from the standpoint of human
justice systems. This is not a valid way to view hell as a punishment because God determined what
acts deserved what punish meant a great number of years before the creation of any human justice
systems. Although you must "die" an earthly to be sent to Hell, you are not "dead" while in Hell
because you can not be tormented if you are dead. The unsaved will have everlasting consciousness
which enables them to suffer the torment. There is a difference between individual eschatology and
general eschatology but this does not imply that there are two different eschatologies. Individual
eschatology is the destiny of each person while general eschatology is the destiny of humankind as a
whole. General eschatology is the fate of the Church as a whole and deals with the end of the world
and the conclusion of history. Individual eschatology is thought to include death and what happens
to individuals between the time of death and the eternal state. On the other hand, general
eschatology considers the final judgment, return of Christ and heaven and hell generally. According
to Karl Rahner, they influence each other and make up a single reality. The death and resurrection of
Christ plays a major role in Christian

what I think being a Christian is all about. I believe God the father created the earth and everything

forgive us of all sins. And finally, God the Holy Spirit, will always be with us whether we feel him

church. I was connecting what I was doing to what I was learning about being a Christian. Another
part of confirmation I will always remember will be my teachers. Confirmation teachers have
always told us stories about events in their life and how it impacted them as Christians, and it made
me think more about my life. These stories made me remember how every event that happens has a
connection to Christ. Finally, youth group conventions at the hotel in downtown Neenah were
always a fun way to connect to Christ and meet new people. I would like to leave you with a bible

Christian Worldview Purpose

The purpose of the Christian worldview is to guide one how God wanted us to live our lives. It starts
from the very beginning of creation to the world we currently live in today. Christians have faith in
Christ. Christians truth about God is believed to be "First, God created the world good indeed, the
creation, especially man who is its crown, actually manifests God's goodness and that all creation is
fallen through original sin" (Echeyerria, 2007). This is what makes prophecy an integral part of
Christianity.

Jesus was the son of God, who was created by God and the second person within the trinity. God is
viewed as the father, the son, and the holy spirit, according to the Christian worldview. Jesus was

and all the gospel. Jesus lived a life as a human as all of us do now. He experienced a lot of things
we as human's experience. Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins where he died on the cross. Jesus is
important to the Christian worldview because he is the ultimate reason we are who we are today.

Luther's text that once faith has been established it creates a foundation for works to be used as an
outward expression of said faith. It is not by hands alone that bring salvation, rather it is the
interworking of the soul, mind, and body that form a faith driven Christ

Christian Identity
The recognition of the identity as a Christian took for a long time. The disciples, apostles, and other
followers of Jesus gradually formed the Christian identity with the growth of faith and the changes
in the social, religious environment. In Mark, the disciples and the followers of Jesus believed in
Jesus, but their faith was too weak to become Christians. Jesus's resurrection confirmed Jesus as the
Son of Men to the unfaithful followers and strengthened their faith. In Acts, the apostles and the
followers of Jesus formed an organized Christian community though they had not had a clear
concept of Christians. But the later persecutions and the martyrdom facilitated and confirmed their
Christian identity.

Through consistent praying and the power of doing miracles which were bestowed upon them
through the Holy Spirit, the apostles brought more and more people to become the followers of
Jesus. The Book of Act was regarded as the "Christian history" because it recorded how the early
Christians formed a community and began to build up their faith through the persecutions they
faced.
Hierarchical & Christian–belonging community
The Christians at this time formed a Christian–belonging community. Under the leadership of John
and Peter, "all the believers were one in heart and mind" and "shared everything they had" (Acts 4:
32). Everyone was willing and eager to contribute to the community with all they had. They did not
only share the possessions, but also praised God and enjoyed "the favor of all the people" (Acts 2:
45–47). It was a loving and belonging community.
It is a hierarchical community as well. When Ananias and Sapphira cheated on their money and lied
to Peter, they were cursed to death. The apostles had the authority in the community to supervise
everyone's behaviors. The Christians community at this time was a well–organized community
within which everyone shared the same

Christian Rap And The Music
As I sat in my chair of the fancy hall (which name I cannot remember for the life of me) last spring
when transferred to DBU for the spring SWAT I was tuning in to different conversations around the
room. Everyone was having a good time, talking, laughing, and expressing concern about missing
home. All was fine until one of the staff members put music on, but not just any genre they put on
Christian Rap (gasp and pause for dramatic effect) I then heard the displeasure start arising from the
group of homeschoolers as they began to say "why are they playing this filth?", why are they
allowing this, rap is so disgusting!" I sat and pondered, "This is definitely Christian Rap and not
secular rap, why are they freaking out?" then it dawned on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But if lost people hear the comments of the homeschoolers that I heard we will just be seen as stuck
up and higher than the lost person. With that our ministry and witness will began to crumble. Christ
met people where they were, so why should the Christians of today's culture do the same for the lost
souls?
As someone who did not grow up in church and did not become a Christian until a few years ago
was learning that secular music, while not honoring Christ at all can be used as a ministry. Knowing
the love of Christ helped me to hear a deeper meaning in rap songs when I listened to them. Through
that I began to see that in every rap song there was some type of brokenness to the artist as they
rapped about going through multiple girls but not finding the right one, having all this money but
never enough stuff, and looking for conformation from all the wrong people. People, especially
Christians want to look down on the rap community because the lifestyle they live in but they
cannot see that these very same people that are idolized by the world are just as broken as we
are/were. Without an understanding of this music how can we show lost people that they can listen
to the style that they are so found of while worshipping the God that made them?
My youth minister helped me change the way I worship by not judging the rap I was listening to, but
instead pointed me into a further direction of worship with God. I was getting set to drive us to a
youth rally

Christian Counseling
Prayer is the way we maintain intermit communication with God. The Christian counseling must be
a believer in God and demonstrate the love of God in order to transmit any counseling to the client.
The Christian counselor must have an intermit communication with God. The client will see that

is a time to express everything to God. Let Danielle know that you are channeling God with constant
pray. Inform Danielle that God will give you the Christian counselor insight and that God is here

Christian Anchor
The anchor in the Christian faith was previously symbolic of safety because of the importance in
navigation. More recently, the anchor has become a symbol of hope. Hope is extremely important in
the Christian faith since Christ is the infallible hope for all who believe in Him. Some of the early
fathers spoke of this in the same way, but the first time hope was associated with the anchor, was the
Epistle to the Hebrews. It was written that hope is "an anchor for the soul, firm and secure"
(Hebrews 6:19).
An anchor can be defined as a heavy object attached to a rope and used to secure a boat to the sea
bottom. It symbolically reflects stability and confidence. Christianity teaches that these traits are
discovered in Christ. Those who follow

Christian Leadership Leadership scholars have presented many theories in understanding leadership.
However, making sense of hundreds of books and thousands of studies is a complicated task, which
is why many mistakenly think that leadership is an indefinable phenomenon. Some of us presume
complete authority in our own favored ways. Novel leaders often discard the entire system used by
the exiting leaders. In a catastrophic situation, persistence on individual style can be helpful; yet in a
democratic culture, leaders don't own the organization and must consider the right of the followers.

The achievement of the group is 'ceilinged in' by what the people's personal desire and even reduced

Groups like that are normally ingrown and lack of sense mission. The groups led by the Consensus
Taker will not make any decision unless everyone in the team come to an agreement. The politics of
this kind of operation is subtle. People may try hard to feel where the wind blows and some
influential people are needed to form the under–current. Groups with a leader with charisma and
deep insight may benefit in using this approach. There are other disasters too where the group never

You may have experienced that the way we are and do things are many times different from others,
and conflicts arose because of these differences. We wished many times that other people are better

would have turned to drugs or self–harm, which were both extremely prevalent in my school

Christian Horbury : Early Christian Persecutions
This is what theologian Horbury surmised about early Christian persecutions, and I largely agree
with this view. The Jews sometimes persecuted the early Christians because their beliefs clashed and
this caused friction between the two religions. As well as this 'incompatibility' between the two
faiths, Donatism also developed as a separate sect of Christianity within the orthodox church and a
lot of persecution and hate was directed towards the early Christians. However, without this I do not
believe that Christianity would have developed and formed the monotheistic, dogmatic religion that
we associate ourselves with today.
When Christianity first emerged it culturally threatened the Greco–Roman social order; they
strongly adhered to the belief that Jesus was the messiah and their allegiance was with him, not the
Roman Emperor. The emperors were viewed as 'saviours', they were not merely human but also
divine and at the moment of death their soul would rise to the heavens. Due to them being
pedestalized it was a popular tradition to build temples and make sacrifices to the emperor and thus,
it also became important that everyone (with the exception of Jews as it was an ancient and already
established faith which the Romans respected because of this) did the same. Romans were
suspicious of new religions and the proclamation that Christians made deeply offended them.
Christians voiced the belief that the person the Jews had sacrificed was the true saviour, the son of
God which

A Christian Fiction In Skin, By Ted Dekker
In the psychological thriller, Skin by Ted Dekker, five people get thrown into a town being shaken
by a thunderstorm. Strange things keep happening around them and it doesn't take long for these
strangers to figure out they are being hunted by an estranged serial killer going by the name of
Sterling Red. These five people with no known connections to each other end up trapped in a library
being tortured by Red. The killer wants these five people to pick which one of them is the ugliest
and kill that person. But, his definition of ugly may not be the same as everyone else's. Ted Dekker
was born in Yahukimo Regency, Indonesia to his two missionary parents. Later, after Dekker left
Indonesia and graduated from high school, he went on to study Philosophy and Religion. After
many successful years in the corporate world, Dekker finally pursued writing. Over the course of
two years, he wrote two full novels then, completely started from scratch and rewrote them. Finally,
he sold his company and moved his family to the mountains in Colorado to fully pursue his writing
career. In this Christian fiction novel, Ted Dekker keeps the reader's on their toes with all of the
plot's twists and turns. But, what about this book makes it Christian fiction? When I think of a
Christian novel, I think of a book that explores and shows its readers a Christian world, something
sort of along the lines of the Bible. Skin is nowhere near that. So, what about this book classifies it
as "Christian"?

Therefore, researchers Worthington and Scott went to to find their participants. They ended up

undergraduate Christian students from the introduction to psychology at major mid–atlantic
universities. Two, a group of undergraduate Christian students who are enrolled in 5 general study
classes at a, mid–Atlantic, creedal–based Christian college, and are required to attend chapel
services once a week. Third and last group are from four Washington, D.C., churches (from both
traditional and charismatic Christian faiths)(Fretz and Keating, 1990). All together the total
participant count was 301. To better understand these 301 participants I will highlight some of the
other characteristics of each of the three groups. The first group count for 124 of the 301 people

and there were 43 men and 36 women (Fretz and Keating, 1990). Before we get to what the exact

Film Character Analysis For this assignment I chose to analyze the actor Christian Bale. I chose him
because I think he is an extremely one of the best actors that there are in film today. The three
movies I was able to watch solidified my opinion on his talents. Those three movies included, The
Fighter, The Machinist, and American Psycho. The Machinist and American Psycho he plays a
mentally disturbed character. However all of these performances by him were extremely well
thought out, and executed to near perfection. In The Fighter Bale plays a washed up fighter turned
crack head, who trains his younger brother. He doesn't train His brother all that well because he is
too busy smoking crack most of the time. When he does show up he focuses more on himself, and
how he knocked down "Sugar" Ray Leonard. He is stuck in the past, and has Mickey, his brother,

Christian Doctrines Of A Christian Life
In order to live a Christian life and walk in the way that is pleasing to the Lord, we have to
understand what the Bible is saying about fundamental Christian doctrines. There are plenty of
denominations that take what the Lord is saying and interpret it in a way that fits their
understanding. In this paper I will be talking about three controversial Christian doctrines which are
baptizing babies, losing your salvation, and speaking in tongues in order to get to heaven. One
Christian doctrine I do not agree with is baptizing babies. To me baptism is a sign to the world that
you have been changed by Christ; you have accepted him into your life and he has forgave you of
your sins. When you enter the water that represents you dying to your old ways, once you come up
out of the water it is symbolizing the new life you are ready to endure. Being a baby, we really do
not have an understanding of what is going on, there is no dying to an old life, simply because the
baby hasn't had a chance to live yet. I believe that just because you are baptized it does not mean
you are going to heaven as some denominations believe. Baptism is something you do when you are
truly ready and have an understanding on why Jesus came down to earth and what Jesus has done
for us, without that understanding there is no reason to be baptized. When we are babies that is the
purest that we are going to be. The older we get the more we sin and the more we are in need of a
savior, as babies we cannot

Christian Philosophy Of Christian Theology
From childhood we observe, study, and even absorb our surroundings. These observations cultivate
the person we become and educates us on how to approach life situations independently.
Independence is the self–governing state of freedom to think and act as we desire. How we approach
life events can be viewed from a philosophical and/or a theological perspective. This essay will
compare different approaches in Christian theology to philosophy to see which study was more
influential in our individual development. Christian theology is the study of Christian beliefs. There
are four sources for this study including scripture, tradition, reasoning and experience. Scriptures are
sacred writings that document historical events pertaining to Christianity. The Bible is the central
location for the scriptures. Christians consider the Bible their source of truth and the reference
material needed to handle all life events as a Christian should. There are various definitions
regarding tradition however; one in particular lends itself best to Christian theology. Tradition is the
continued sharing of stories, customs, or values to future generations by written or oral means.
Tradition is passed down from generation to generation but, it is in vain without application.
Tradition provides a sense of stability for Christian theology however it also can promote spiritual
growth if allowed. Fiorenza (1984), noted that modern hermeneutics is being used to examine the

On Christian Doctrine
St. Augustine of Hippo wrote On Christian Doctrine to teach how a person would interoperate and
teach the Holy Scriptures. Augustine explains components of Scripture, talking about signs,
interpretation, figurative and literal language of the Bible. Augustine claims that the people who will
deny what he has to say either do not understand or they do and just do not want to adhere to it. The
first three books of On Christian Doctrine are meant to give guidance to a person on how they are to
accurately seek out the truth from the Scriptures. The fourth book teaches a Christian how to take
what he has learned and effectively teach it to others. One of the main topics that Augustine talks
about is interpretation of the Scripture. One of the first things he points out is that if a person is not
building in love, he is not learning. If a person misinterprets the Scripture, they are in danger of
being led astray. A person can equip themselves to not be led astray through reading and
understanding what is said in the Scripture. One of the best tools for finding the Scripture's true

powerful tone to try to persuade truth and a calm tone when giving praise or encourage. One of the
most surprising, but wisest pieces of advice is for a teacher to pray before and after they teach.
Augustine says the teacher should pray so that he might teach the truth and that the listeners would

The word 'Orthodox' takes its meaning from the Greek words orthos, which means right

Eastern Orthodoxy and other Christian denominations, like theophanies from the Bible, the Holy

A Summary Of The Unexpected Christian Century
In the book "The Unexpected Christian Century," the author Scott Sunquist believes that the
twentieth century is the most recent one in the Christian history. During the time of the geometric
era, it was believed that the importance of gravity moved from the Christian nations of Europe and
North America to the "Global South," where Christians were done wrong minority. Simply in the
third and the sixteenth centuries was when Christianity had experienced a change of comparable
greatness.
In 1900 many assumed the twentieth century would be a Christian century because Western
"Christian empires" ruled most of the world. What happened instead is that Christianity in the West
declined dramatically, the empires collapsed, and Christianity's center moved to Africa, Asia, Latin
America, and the Pacific. (Logos) In the beginning of "The Unexpected Christian Century,"
Sunquist is mentioning the fast paced overview of Christian missionary expansion, starting with the
effort of the apostles described in Acts, describing the difference of the royal church and the
transformation of "tribal Europe," and ending with both Catholic and Protestant works of the late
early modern period.
As Sunquist moves along in the book, he brakes the narrative pace with a earlier look at advances
from the 1870s to the 1910s to try and understand why most church leaders could say "Without
blushing or winking" that the twentieth would be "the Christian century" (16). It seemed like it was

Christian College Goals

  • 1. Christian College Goals Statistics show that anywhere from 40%–80% of high school Christians abandon their faith within their first year of college. This is a huge problem that needs to be fixed. The youth of today and tomorrow need strong Christian leaders who are able to fortify their faith before moving away into the real world. There are three key factors that lead to this high percentage: Students are unprepared, they are in a more hostile environment, and our natural inclination to sin and fall away from God to pursue our own worldly passions. Students, who cannot effectively defend their faith, are going into a more hostile environment with less Christians and are being offered alternative world views that allow them to follow their own desires. We can't do a lot to change their environment or human nature, but we can build up young Christians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduce them to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who can empower them to be life changers. There is so much potential in the youth that is being wasted because they aren't taught how to adequately defend and share their faith. That is why I want to go a faith–based Christian college who are building up leaders. I want to become one of the leaders that drastically reduces this statistic. To become the great leader that I want to be, I am going to need to go to a great Christian college to further my education in the Christian faith. I want to learn how to more effectively build up other Christian leaders. The church is always one generation away from dying out. If there aren't leaders who can strengthen the youth, the church is in big trouble. If the church is in trouble, the whole world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Christian Life The Christian life is a discussion that the details of its description such as the definition, ground and power are not easy to explain. The scriptures paint a vast web of each author's ideals on what the Christian life should be. For example, in I Corinthians 6: 1–8 we see Paul referring to the different standards that must prevail in the Christian community and then in Ephesians we see the distinction of Christians from the nations. (Hessert, 16) Every Christian has this picture of what living the Christian life should be. Not every picture is the same but certain concepts are universal. The golden rule 'do unto others, as you have done unto you' is a prime example. Every sect of Christianity is different yet the golden rule stands throughout all religion sects. The Christian life is complex because there are so many factors that play into it. The most vital parts of the life are to understand that we belong to God and we must follow the guidelines that he has set forth and to follow the path of progress even in the times that it becomes unclear. The Christian life is filled with joy, complexity and peace that people can find, even in their darkest of times. Through faith many feel that "we are not our own masters, but belong to God." (Calvin, 1) The ideals are very straight forward in the sense that we are to provide our bodies to God as a living sacrifice and live by him. We must not conform to the fashion of the world, but be transformed by the renewal of our minds, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Christian Principles Christian Principles – Five Steps to Discernment By RM Harrington | Submitted On August 20, 2010 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Share this article on Facebook Share this article on Twitter Share this article on Google+ Share this article on Linkedin Share this article on StumbleUpon Share this article on Delicious Share this article on Digg Share this article on Reddit Share this article on Pinterest Expert Author RM Harrington Discernment is a critical component of a balanced Christian life. We want to know how to respond to a given situation. God says that we must help the needy, yet he also says that a sluggard shall beg for his bread. The bible says that God hates a lying tongue, yet the harlot Rahab was counted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a false conclusion. The Holy Spirit works through the scriptures, and teachers, and prayer, and the individual efforts of each person. We can and must depend upon Him to teach us and lead us. Jesus said it this way: "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come," (John 16:13). Yet the discerning Christian will take these words in balance with all of scripture. We understand that we have, according to 1–Cor., within us the mind of Christ. For this reason, the words of scripture and the teachings of good leaders are not foolishness to us. Thus we identify, through the Spirit of God, those who can guide us in wisdom, truth, and discernment. If you would experience spiritual discernment, put your trust in the Holy Spirit as your guide; yet forsake not these other things. The Burden I have written to Christians, people who know Jesus as Lord and Savior, people who were once completely blind and without any sense of spiritual discernment at all. Now, we walk a new way, growing and maturing, still struggling, but always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Beowulf as Christian Propaganda The literary work of Beowulf is believed, by many, to contain numerous attributes of Christian propaganda. Throughout the story of Beowulf, there are several circumstances and coincidences that distinctly relate to the Christian belief system. One can only imagine that these ideas of Christian propaganda; which include the use of Christian themes and beliefs in works of literary art, were strategically placed throughout the story of Beowulf to help the conversion from the old world pagan religious belief system to the Christian beliefs of the new world. Historians believe that Beowulf was written sometime in the eighth century in England. This fact is important because during this era, society was in the process of converting from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Beowulf may represent Christ in this part of the story, it can be viewed that Grendel represents the devil. The battle between Beowulf and Grendel can represent the Christian theme of good versus evil. To make the connection even more solid, Grendel is referred to as a descendant of Cain, whom Satan tricks into sinning and committing the first murder in the human world. Grendel represents the image of a man fallen from grace through sin. Like Satan who is jealous of the happiness and joy that Adam and Eve have in the Garden of Eden, Grendel is jealous of the happiness and joy in Heorot. Grendel, as with Satan, is a rival of God and poses a great challenge to Beowulf, just as evil poses a challenge to Christians. Another connection that Grendel shares with the devil is his dwelling. Grendel lives in an underworld just as Satan lives in hell. Grendel is referred to in the poem as "the guardian of sins". These small hints of the Christian culture to come are a way of slowly introducing the Christian beliefs to the common people, and perhaps getting them ready for the introduction of the stories of Jesus and his teachings. This way, they have something to relate the stories of Jesus to, and the ideas of Jesus are not so new and shocking. Perhaps the strongest relation to Christianity in Beowulf is in the last battle scene of the story. The dragon is Beowulf 's last and most intriguing battle. The dragon can be viewed as ... But it happens to be reflect everything we say or do whether we know it or not. Humanity beliefs about God history and ultimately helps shapes how we live. We all remember the moment when accepted Christ as our Savior, we are born again spiritually into God 's kingdom . But just as a newborn baby needs milk for growth and maturity, we as a baby Christian needs spiritual food for growth. (1peter 2:2–3) reads "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As naturalism continues to invade our schools, far too many followers of Christ are unable to determine between the wisdom of man and the truth of God 's Word. A Christian worldview, on the other hand, answers the three questions biblically: 1) We are God's creation, designed to govern the world and fellowship with Him (Genesis1:27 ) 2) We sinned against God and subjected the whole world to a curse (Genesis 3). 3) God Himself has redeemed the world through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ (Genesis3:15) (Luke 19,10)and will one day restore creation to its perfect state (Isaiah 65:17–25). A Christian worldview leads us to believe in moral absolutes, miracles, human dignity, and the possibility of redemption. Why is it important for Christians to have and live out a Biblically based Christian worldview? Philip Graham Ryken believes that the Church will fail to have a transforming influence on their culture where this is lacking. God has revealed Himself, and who we are in relation to Him and the world He has created. He quotes Francis Schaffer writing about God 's revealed truth p.15" truth about reality, not just about religious things. Biblical Christianity is truth concerning total reality." To understand and make sense out of the world in which we live, we must know the God who has made it and what He has revealed about Himself and His creation. • 11. Christian Dream Interpretation Of A Christian Christian Dream Interpretation The spiritual interpretation of dreams is lost to many modern–day Christians. However, this forgotten language is available for those who seek God, especially in prayer. Those who seek will find and answers sought in prayer may be revealed through dreams where the quiet voice of God is able to reach one in a most intimate way. Dreams are one of the ways that Crist reveals himself to us and touches our hearts on a very personal level. Historically speaking, dreams have been the most prominent form of communication between the creator and his people. Because of this, Satan has worked hard to convince people to ignore God's message in the form of dreams and visions. Unfortunately, today very few Christians are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Top Sites for Christian Singles Top Sites for Christian Singles "You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with." ––Wayne Dyer While I enjoy being single, I do occasionally like male company for dinner, dancing or just good conversation. Fortunately, there are many sites for singles to find friends, dates and even mates; however, I was interested in sites for Christian singles. After contacting several megachurches to inquire as to which sites were most used by their singles, we learned that the directors for the ministries were not asking this question and the singles where not volunteering the information–although the felt the services were being used. Some of that I know to be the truth from listening to music in my travels. Moreover, I listen to the words that make you get emotional yet it feeds your spirit man. People are shaken by some words and others are upset if going through a storm at that time. Under the circumstances songs make them feel better. Nonetheless, music will soothe any beast at a time when an uproar occurs. Actually, if you are listening to music that you can identify with feelings of gratitude fills your heart. Troubles arise after trying to deliver to a class of people not willing to accept what is being taught. The vehicle must be able to accept and receive all criticism of how and what went wrong. Earl H. Gaulke suggests we should listen to the rhythmic chants of childhood, and you have a key to what and how of teaching songs. A child's mind so innocent, he/ she bellows out sounds hoping to be singing. Wrapped in a blanket full of notes to follow with sounds. I know for myself that in a church rehearsal setting one common challenge we have are for the pupil to understand the proper ways of learning. Church choirs need some education in music. Conceiving the right methods are a plus. Accordingly, we gather information from teachers promoted to teach music and has no music ability at all. Indeed, my report states music needs to fit the child rather than the child fitting the music. Spend time in learning how to fit the music. Except all it has to offer you. Life has many ups and downs, music is the one way you can and will get through it. A true relief is a music removing stress at a moments notice. • 17. Christian Education Goals Why I Want to Become a Certified Dean of Christian Education I was approached a few years ago about directing the teaching and learning for my local church. I was hesitant, but I am delighted that I answered the call. I have spent four (4) years of study in the Certificate of Progress (COPP) Program and my biblical knowledge and spiritual growth have been a blessing. I have realized that although I have spent my life in the church, My work was limited to serving on committees and proudly be a member in good standing. Being a member in good standing may have merit, but it is not what we are called to do as Christians. Although I regularly attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, I realized that my biblical knowledge was seriously lacking. Now that I have completed my COPP studies, I have been asked to assist with administering future Christian Leadership Schools. As a Christian educator, I see my purpose in helping to inform and to help believers to understand the Bible. Understanding that the local church exists to honor God by making and maturing disciples, I know that this can happen through organized Christian Education programming. I want to help Bible ... • 19. The Early Christian Church The story of the early Christian church involves a number of experiences of persecution. Most of the conflicts happen between Christians and Jews. Acts narrates that Peter and John were arrested by Sadducees (4:3–22), then harshly questioned by the Sanhedrin (5:17–42), and then flogged for what they believed in (5:40). The readers can begin to see the reason for persecution from the start–their belief in the unconditional love and resurrection of Jesus. Acts continues to show the demonstration of persecution by telling the stories of how Saul imprisoned many Christians (Ch. 8); how Jews plot to kill Paul (9:23–24, 20:19, 23:12–14); how King Herod executed James and imprisons Peter (12:1–5); how Paul and Barnabas were driven out of Antioch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the beginning of Acts, readers can see that Saul began persecuting the church, "entering house after house; and dragging off men and women, he would put them in prison." This caused many Christians to scatter across the regions. Therefore, those who left started preaching the word; not only to the Jews, but also to the Gentiles. Readers must remember that "a definition of the word 'church'" is "belonging to the Lord." If the church belongs to the Lord, nothing can destroy it; "Or, as Gamaliel advised the Jewish council, 'If this plan or action should be of men, it will be overthrown; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God'" (5:38–39). Christians are continually encouraged throughout Scripture to stand firm in their beliefs and faith in Jesus. Today, persecution may look different or not as physical in some areas in the world, but it is still an active part of being a Christian. Again, as Fernando tells us, "...that persecution may be a necessary part of the Christian life." Though Christians in the 21st century America do not suffer physical abuse, they do suffer from the constant pressure by the media forced beliefs, Political Correctness, being viewed as ignorant, etc. In the book of Acts, you do not read about the church fighting each other over denominational beliefs, but fighting for Jesus against the Jews. ... For example, smoking which we are polluting the earth. The homes we buy, why do we need all the technology in the world in our house. Another way Christians we can preserve our environment is by using alternate methods of transportation. For example, in Tokyo most people do not even own cars they ride bikes to the train station to utilize resourceful means to get to work. The way gas prices keep going out we are going to have to rely on public transportation which is better for the environment now than driving vehicles. I am glad that now we have Hybrid cars to help with the pollution. Many religions have different insight on how to preserve the environment. For example In India, they practice Hindu which means ("the external essence of life"). They believe that it is clear their God which is known as Vishnu is part of everything. It is also the study of the ultimate purpose of the world and God's intentions. In Christianity, eschatology is often viewed as a forbidden subject in the study of theology. On the other hand, some regard eschatology as the most influential part of their religious life because they it determines the way in which they live their lives. There is a difference between individual eschatology and general eschatology but this does not imply that there are two different eschatologies. Individual eschatology is the destiny of each person while general eschatology is the destiny of humankind as a whole. General eschatology is the fate of the Church as a whole and deals with the end of the world and the conclusion of history. Individual eschatology is thought to include death and what happens to individuals between the time of death and the eternal state. As someone who did not grow up in church and did not become a Christian until a few years ago was learning that secular music, while not honoring Christ at all can be used as a ministry. Knowing the love of Christ helped me to hear a deeper meaning in rap songs when I listened to them. • 51. Christian Horbury : Early Christian Persecutions This is what theologian Horbury surmised about early Christian persecutions, and I largely agree with this view. The Jews sometimes persecuted the early Christians because their beliefs clashed and this caused friction between the two religions. As well as this 'incompatibility' between the two faiths, Donatism also developed as a separate sect of Christianity within the orthodox church and a lot of persecution and hate was directed towards the early Christians. However, without this I do not believe that Christianity would have developed and formed the monotheistic, dogmatic religion that we associate ourselves with today. When Christianity first emerged it culturally threatened the Greco–Roman social order; they strongly adhered to the belief that Jesus was the messiah and their allegiance was with him, not the Roman Emperor. The emperors were viewed as 'saviours', they were not merely human but also divine and at the moment of death their soul would rise to the heavens. Due to them being pedestalized it was a popular tradition to build temples and make sacrifices to the emperor and thus, it also became important that everyone (with the exception of Jews as it was an ancient and already established faith which the Romans respected because of this) did the same. Romans were suspicious of new religions and the proclamation that Christians made deeply offended them. These five people with no known connections to each other end up trapped in a library being tortured by Red. • 59. Christian Suppositions The Great commission is to reach with world with the Gospel. The Christian understands the world through suppositions; God exists, the truth exists, a man can know and understand truth (Towns 2008, 6). What we often forget is that much of society does not hold these suppositions, at least they often do not know they hold these suppositions. If we understand the way in which they think we can more ably show them Christ. Christians are separate from the world, but human none–the–less, and as such are called to be compassionate and empathetic witnesses to the individuals around them. Dare I say, even sympathetic to the plight of humanity. One way in which that is possible is through secular literature. We can look into the face of personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The past experiences of the Christian counselor maybe supportive in guiding a client who has been abused and is depressed. In this scenario, Jamie was divorced with a history of abuse. Hawkins and Clinton (2015) disclosed that the overwhelming thoughts do not define who they are and are not permanent (Hawkins & Clinton, 2015). • 63. Christian Doctrines Of A Christian Life In order to live a Christian life and walk in the way that is pleasing to the Lord, we have to understand what the Bible is saying about fundamental Christian doctrines. There are plenty of denominations that take what the Lord is saying and interpret it in a way that fits their understanding. In this paper I will be talking about three controversial Christian doctrines which are baptizing babies, losing your salvation, and speaking in tongues in order to get to heaven. One Christian doctrine I do not agree with is baptizing babies. To me baptism is a sign to the world that you have been changed by Christ; you have accepted him into your life and he has forgave you of your sins. When you enter the water that represents you dying to your old ways, once you come up out of the water it is symbolizing the new life you are ready to endure. Being a baby, we really do not have an understanding of what is going on, there is no dying to an old life, simply because the baby hasn't had a chance to live yet. I believe that just because you are baptized it does not mean you are going to heaven as some denominations believe. Baptism is something you do when you are truly ready and have an understanding on why Jesus came down to earth and what Jesus has done for us, without that understanding there is no reason to be baptized. When we are babies that is the purest that we are going to be. The older we get the more we sin and the more we are in need of a savior, as babies we cannot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. Christian Philosophy Of Christian Theology From childhood we observe, study, and even absorb our surroundings. These observations cultivate the person we become and educates us on how to approach life situations independently. Independence is the self–governing state of freedom to think and act as we desire. How we approach life events can be viewed from a philosophical and/or a theological perspective. This essay will compare different approaches in Christian theology to philosophy to see which study was more influential in our individual development. Christian theology is the study of Christian beliefs. There are four sources for this study including scripture, tradition, reasoning and experience. Scriptures are sacred writings that document historical events pertaining to Christianity. The Bible is the central location for the scriptures. Christians consider the Bible their source of truth and the reference material needed to handle all life events as a Christian should. There are various definitions regarding tradition however; one in particular lends itself best to Christian theology. Tradition is the continued sharing of stories, customs, or values to future generations by written or oral means. Tradition is passed down from generation to generation but, it is in vain without application. Tradition provides a sense of stability for Christian theology however it also can promote spiritual growth if allowed. Fiorenza (1984), noted that modern hermeneutics is being used to examine the source of Christian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Christian Beliefs As a Christian school, we must come up with a list of statements that describe who we are and what we believe. As Christians, there are certain doctrines that we believe in like the doctrine of the Bible or the doctrine of the church. From the WCS statement of faith, I chose three statements to interview my pastor about. The first one I choose stated that: "We believe in the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose intercessory and sanctifying work continually renews the Christian and enables him to live a godly life in conformity with the Scripture. (John 14:15–17)" The Holy Spirit is an important aspect of the Christian faith for many reasons and the Pentecost is one of the main ones. The Pentecost is a Christian holiday that ... Sodom and Gomorrah is a passage that is often used by Christians to combat homosexuality. Christians often say that Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed= due to the sin that it contained the main one being the gays. This is not entirely true, yes SOdom and Gamosahr was a very very sinful place but it was destroyed because God could not find one righteous person. Genesis 18:22–33 " The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare[e] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing–to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" The Lord said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake." Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?""If I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. On Christian Doctrine St. Augustine of Hippo wrote On Christian Doctrine to teach how a person would interoperate and teach the Holy Scriptures. Augustine explains components of Scripture, talking about signs, interpretation, figurative and literal language of the Bible. Augustine claims that the people who will deny what he has to say either do not understand or they do and just do not want to adhere to it. The first three books of On Christian Doctrine are meant to give guidance to a person on how they are to accurately seek out the truth from the Scriptures. The fourth book teaches a Christian how to take what he has learned and effectively teach it to others. One of the main topics that Augustine talks about is interpretation of the Scripture. One of the first things he points out is that if a person is not building in love, he is not learning. If a person misinterprets the Scripture, they are in danger of being led astray. A person can equip themselves to not be led astray through reading and understanding what is said in the Scripture. One of the best tools for finding the Scripture's true meaning was looking at translations and going back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A teacher should have an eloquent manner and teach in a style that fits the listeners. Augustine said that a teacher "ought not always to be speaking of them in a majestic tone, but in a subdued tone" (155). Different tones of voice can produce different results from people. A teacher can use a powerful tone to try to persuade truth and a calm tone when giving praise or encourage. One of the most surprising, but wisest pieces of advice is for a teacher to pray before and after they teach. Augustine says the teacher should pray so that he might teach the truth and that the listeners would listen to it. Many may think it's just the pastor giving advice concerning problems within their personal life. • 78. A Summary Of The Unexpected Christian Century In the book "The Unexpected Christian Century," the author Scott Sunquist believes that the twentieth century is the most recent one in the Christian history. During the time of the geometric era, it was believed that the importance of gravity moved from the Christian nations of Europe and North America to the "Global South," where Christians were done wrong minority. Simply in the third and the sixteenth centuries was when Christianity had experienced a change of comparable greatness. In 1900 many assumed the twentieth century would be a Christian century because Western "Christian empires" ruled most of the world. What happened instead is that Christianity in the West declined dramatically, the empires collapsed, and Christianity's center moved to Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific. (Logos) In the beginning of "The Unexpected Christian Century," Sunquist is mentioning the fast paced overview of Christian missionary expansion, starting with the effort of the apostles described in Acts, describing the difference of the royal church and the transformation of "tribal Europe," and ending with both Catholic and Protestant works of the late early modern period. As Sunquist moves along in the book, he brakes the narrative pace with a earlier look at advances from the 1870s to the 1910s to try and understand why most church leaders could say "Without blushing or winking" that the twentieth would be "the Christian century" (16).
