Argumentative Essay On Cranberry And Blue
Cranberry and blue. Why cranberry? "Ah–hem..." Professor Bagshot stood in front of my desk
glaring at me. I had zoned out again. Come on Nadia, what are we talking about? On the board is the
ingredients to yet another potion. Fluxweed, knotgrass, lacewing flies, and leeches. Fluxweed,
knotgrass, lacewing flies, and leeches... Pages from textbooks fly through my head until I find the
correct one. "That is the first part to Polyjuice Potion. Polyjuice Potion allows a human drinker to
temporarily assume the form of another person." I said as soon as I found it. Professor Bagshot's jaw
dropped while all of the kids that have known me for years rolled their eyes and slumped in their
chairs. Making her realized this is a common occurrence. "Peculiar aren't you Miss Zane... Thank
you nevertheless." Come on Nadia, this is your first day of your last year, ... Show more content on

"...blue was Isolt's favorite color..." "Hey Nadia!" Amelia Susan, a fellow Horned Serpent seventh
year startled me awake. "Oh hi Amelia..." "Is this your owl?" She asked. Little did I realize that my
owl, Hephaestus, was hopping around following me through the hall with my mirror, flapping his
wings trying to get my attention. "Oh yeah... Thanks." I said as Amelia walked away, looking back
at Hephaestus with entertained eyes, for her was slightly deformed, hence his name. Nevertheless, I
loved him with all my heart. He, also, was the only family I had left. "Hey Phaestus, what you got
there?" I take the mirror and lean my back against the wall so no one could see the reflection. I push
the button on the bottom and my earbuds fall into my hand, from the handle. Hephaestus flies into
the rafters above. Once I put the headphones in, the display morphs from my face to a news station.

became a nationally recognized day and remembered by all Americans. Many people and even
children can tell you exactly where they were when the tragedy occurred. On this day many men and
women stepped up and became heroes. September 11th, 2001 was a devastating and tragic event in
the history of the United States of America by resolving all the affects America became much
stronger and turned fire fighters into American heroes and left a legacy that is to be remembered for
generations to come. A cross was found under the debris on the crash site. This is one way how God
helped us remember this day in history, not only was this supernatural but a way God showed us this

September 11, 2001 was marked as one historical event in United States history. Many people lost
their lives, many people lost their loved ones and others lost hope. There are controversial topics on
how such a thing could have taken place. Some say it was a terrorist attack while others might say
this was an attack on the United States by the United States government. Despite what the truth is
that fact remains that it happened and many people are dead because of it. The truth may set many
free or the truth may bring back memories and prolong the healing of pain. What happened on that
day will never be forgotten and it rightfully should not but for others not remembering maybe the

You are looking at obviously a very disturbing live shot there. That is the World Trade Center, and
we have unconfirmed reports this morning that a plane has crashed into one of the towers of the
World Trade Center. CNN Center right now is just beginning to work on this story, obviously calling
our sources and trying to figure out exactly what happened, but clearly something relatively
devastating happening this morning there on the south end of the island of Manhattan. That is once

covering this story and the longer you watch the more painful the story got. At 9:59 the south tower

United States and all over the world. In the video you heard the screams and the reactions of the
bystanders who was witnessing this horrific event take place. As the building collapse a tremendous

The Twin Towers
Donald E. Crawford U.S History June 10, 2009 The Attacks of the World Trade Centers Over
200,000 tons of steel, 425,000 cubic yards of concrete, a total of 10,000 workers and 7 years, 2
buildings were created known as the World Trade Centers. It 's more than its signature twin towers:
it was a complex of seven buildings on 16–acres with its own zip code (10048). The construction of
the buildings began in 1966 and was completed in April 1973, with the North tower opening 2 years
prior of the South. They both consist of 110 floors, and were ranked as the tallest buildings in the
world until the Sears Towers was built in 1974. The towers were built downtown–lower Manhattan

Although the 106th floor wasn't hit, everyone above that floor was also killed, due to the fact that
their escape routes were cut off by fire. Most people jumped out the windows because there was
nothing else to do nor was there anywhere to go. After witnessing the plane hit the first tower,
people in the second tower began to fear for their lives and try to escape, but they were told to stay
at their desks thinking that their building wouldn't be Williams 4 attacked, but little did they know
moments later they were hit. Although the North Tower was hit first, the South Tower had collapsed
less than in hour later, due to the fact that it was hit lower. All firefighters, soldiers, police officers
and everyone else who was trying to escape were crushed. Exactly 29 minutes later, the North
Tower joined its twin as it crashed onto the ground killing hundreds and thousands of people that
was in and around both towers. People on the ground were running for their lives as clouds of debris
and smoke covered the streets of lower Manhattan. Due to the fact that the Twin Towers was big, no
one really knows exactly how many people were dead, but they were able to estimate that about
2,985 people were dead or missing, including the 19 hijackers. The North Tower has been estimated
to have killed almost 1,402 people, and the South 614 people. There were mostly people between

Racial Identity And Gender Identity
In a recent South Park episode, titles "The Cissy", in order for his own personal gain to use the girls'
bathroom and later to receive his own bathroom, Cartman dons a pink bow on his head to become
"Erica." Meanwhile, Randy Marsh (as known as Lorde to most and Stan's dad) must battle with his
gender identity and that of his music as women at his work are uncomfortable with sharing a
bathroom with him, therefore he must receive his own against his wishes. While both Cartman's and
Randy Marsh's struggles with their gender identity revolve around the use of a bathroom, through
the juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and becoming transgender, the symbolism of
the "executive bathroom," and the final scene of Stan singing in the bathroom designated for
"Cissys'" reveal society's inability to comprehend gender– identity struggles, thus exposing the
uselessness of gender– labeling. The juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and wearing a
bow cause laughter from the audience thus revealing society's inability to comprehend the
seriousness of both actions. In the beginning of the episode, the audience is shown a scene of Eric
Cartman contemplating what the audience assumes is a school shooting, for he says "They've
laughed at me, poked fun at me... They don't know what's in my right pocket but they'll know soon
enough and they'll pay," (The Cissy). This, coupled with the menacing music playing in the
background, further emphasizes the importance of Cartman's

Once we got off we then waited for our second train to Manhattan. We then got out and stepped into

sky and was beautiful. We first had to get our tickets. Afterward, we had to wait on a line. When we
were done waiting we entered. Inside the tower, we saw a map of the world. It showed us where the
most sightseers were coming from (most came from Great Britain). It was then time to go to the sky

Importance Of Measuring Meridian Arcs Essay
The completion of the survey of a great chain of first order triangulation's along the arc of the 30th
meridian of east longitude, from South Africa to Egypt, is considered one of the most exceptional
surveying feats to ever be executed in Africa and thus its history has interested geodetic surveyors
throughout the world. This paper aims to expatiate on the importance of measuring meridian arcs,
the need to establish a geodetic survey in a country or continent and subsequently will recount the
sequence of events that led to the 75 year length completion of the African arc.
The size and shape of the Earth have been of interest to man since the earliest of times, dating as far
back to Eratosthenes in the third century. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th century,
geodesists were pre–occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of the size
and shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to determine
the radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc, conceived
by Sir David Gill, Her Majesty 's Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the understanding that
it would contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and dimensions on the Earth
(Smith, 2006) therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy. However, besides the need to
determine more accurate dimensions for the Earth (Hendriks, 1955), there was a pressing need to
establish a reliable and

The Chu Lai Massacre
Attacks stretched as far as the northern U.S. military installation, Chu Lai, down to the primary
objective in the south, Saigon. The launch of such an intricate and fierce attack caught many U.S.
commanders off guard because at the time, the potential of the Northern fighters was severely
underestimated. In the years before, Saigon acted as a safe haven for many refugees trying to escape
the horrors of war. The comfort of the city soon vanished when the North Vietnamese sent 35
battalions to seize six objectives in the capital. A few of these enemy fighters took over a
government radio station with the intention of spreading pro–communist propaganda. The North
Vietnamese believed that if they could control the transmitting tower, they could convince the
citizens of the South to riot against the U.S. forces. Fortunately for the U.S. troops, this plan was
stopped by a Lieutenant of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) who previously decided to
cut all transmission to and from the government radio tower. As the Viet Cong were waiting for

The Growth Of Early Los Angeles
To tell the story of the growth of early Los Angeles it is necessary to visit the culturally significant
union station in old downtown on Alameda street. The buildings owes it begging to the American
phenomenon of the railroad, the institution that allowed for American expansion into the modern era
and more specifically the growth of the west coast metropolis of Los Angeles that prior was just a
small Spanish town. Just across the street from the Avila adobe, one of the first and oldest existing
Spanish settlements in L.A., lays Union station, a building that holds on to the city's Spanish roots
through Spanish mission style architecture. At the time of its erection, the building not only told the
story of the small Spanish town that Los Angeles was but also hinted at the industrial metropolis that
Los Angeles would be through the art deco language. Through the fine usage and mixture of
elements at a macro and micro scale, Union Station successfully mixes the two languages of Art
Deco modern and Spanish mission style to form a landmark that is a remnant of a significant
transitional period in LA's history. Just like many other U.S cities during the early 20th century los
angles experienced a period of unprecedented industrial growth and population increase that
followed. Furthermore there was the need for a transportation hub that would serve as a common
stop for vital transcontinental rail lines that supported the city's industry, which included the Union

Introduction
The movement of people is a crucial aspect to consider in contemporary development, not only
around the world, but within a single municipality. According to "Code Red", an extensively
researched article published in The Hamilton Spectator in 2010, the most underdeveloped area of
Hamilton exists in its downtown district. The proposed Light Rail Transit system is a public transit
project that could revolutionize the downtown core of Hamilton, Ontario and improve the city's rate
of urban development. This report will discuss and justify a proposal for a North–South route,
including three stations/stops, and rejected routes and stations.
Background of the proposed LRT system in Hamilton
I. Rationale Great consideration has been taken by the provincial and municipal governments along
with Metrolinx to ensure that the Light Rail Transit system would substantially benefit Hamilton,

Douglas Dakota or the DC–3 as it is more commonly called, was one of the most reliable aircraft
ever built. More than ten thousand planes of this type were manufactured, and even know hundreds
remain in use. These are propeller driven aircraft not to be confused with a jet plane. You will see
lots of these aircraft in Florida and around the isalnd's. Their job is generally island hopping,
traveling from island to island. Because of small distances between the islands and the short
runways, the large jet planes are unfit for such activities and small planes like, the DC–3, is best
suited for this activity. The DC–3 is also used as private charter planes by many airlines and for

Essay On Environmental Factors Affecting Cell Phone Company
Environmental Factors The environmental factors of integrating a cell phone company into India are
an important factor of globalization of a company. It is important to look at what will be affected
environmentally as well as how the environment, climate, and topography of a location can be poor
or beneficial. If a region is known to have inclement weather, it may not be worth the costs of
building there. Ecological consequences, cost of energy in a region, and the disposal of material
should all be looked at when debating the addition of a cell phone company. All of the follow factors
must be considered for a successful launch and expansion into India. Infrastructure The
infrastructure of a company must first be possible and plausible before it can be integrated into a
new community. The average cost of building a cellphone tower is reported at $150,000. This
amount can fluctuate with the availability of land and air rights. Vertically, these towers can range in
height from 200ft to 2,000ft depending on the type of tower. Horizontally, the ideal area of land
needed ranges from 1,000 to 10,000 square feet (Schmidt). The geographical and topographical
position of these towers can add or lower costs. Highly mountainous areas may cause more of an
issue then a flat terrain. When this factor is added, the surround wildlife must also then be examined.
In addition to the towers, operating plants and retail stores must all be considered. The location of
these structures should be

only tells us that there was a possible explosion inside the World Trade Center, but that there seem to
have been more than one. If the collapse of the towers really was a controlled demolition as it
looked like to many, this would mean that a lot of premeditated work to place explosives would
have had to occur. Seeing as very few people have access to every place of the World Trade Center,
it does seem likely that some government cooperation would have been needed to make it happen.
Many researchers claim that the explosions heard in and around the World Trade Center could have
been from exploding electrical transformers. They say that the heat from the fire was too much for
the transformers and caused explosions throughout the building. Author of George Washington's
Blog had this to say about the topic: "Well, if exploding transformers caused these sounds and the
collapse of the Twin Towers, why didn't we hear the same things and see the collapse of the
buildings in Madrid, Venezuela, Los Angeles and elsewhere which burned hotter and

9/11 Compare And Contrast
On a quiet Tuesday morning at 8:45 September 11, 2001, a 767 was fully loaded and ready for
departure. When an Islamic extremist group called Al–Qaeda, hijacked the plane and crashed into on
of the World Trade Center Towers. On the 80th story of a 110 story building. It instantly killed all in
the plane and many in the tower. 18 short minutes later another 757 United Airline disappeared into
the second building. This plane crashed into the south side of the second building on the 60th floor
killing all in the plane as well.
19 different terrorist boarded 4 different plane with simple box–cutters from security and onto the

was being flown into the Pentagon. At 9:45 am the capital was shaken up too. 125 military
personnel and civilians were killed. 64 of which were on the plane.
Soon after the nerve center of the military control base was attacked, New York City felt their hearts

Movie Review Of The Movie 'InsideThe Twin Towers'
As I watched the film "Inside: The Twin Towers", I couldn't help the chills running up and down my
spine. This documentary takes you inside the twin towers and gives you a glimpse of the horror that
came upon America on September 11, 2001. It doesn't matter the age you were when this terrorist
attack happened, watching the film puts you in the same place of those who sacrificed and fought
for their lives. When I watch the film, I try to put myself in their shoes. What would I do if the room
I was in was filled with smoke? How could I escape? What would my first initial reaction be? I'm
going to take you into my thoughts and feelings about this tragic day in history and show you that
9/11 will always be remembered. I was around 3 years old when this tragedy happened, I was
oblivious to what was happening in America. But films such as "Inside the Twin Towers" help
educate those who weren't able to comprehend what had happened on that day in America. I've seen
many films about 9/11 and each one brings new information. This is definitely one of the best films
about 9/11 that i've ever seen. There is an emotional trigger when you see the interviews of the
people sharing their story of being in the twin towers. There's almost a sense as if you're with them
in the towers due to the detail of the film. A film like this will forever be available to future
generations and we will continue the famous quote, "We will never forget." At about 8:45 the first

The Nuclear Of Nuclear Power Essay
Nuclear power has the potential to create vast amounts of energy from a comparatively miniscule
fuel source. According to the Nuclear Energy Institute, "...as of November 2016, 30 countries
worldwide are operating 450 nuclear reactors for electricity generation and 60 new nuclear plants
are under construction" (Nuclear Energy Institute, 2016). Not only has nuclear power seen use
across the world, but it has seen applications in the United States and right here in Florida.
Currently, there are two facilities operated by Florida Power and Light (FPL) in the Sunshine State
that produce over 3,000 megawatts of energy homes, public buildings, and businesses alike (Florida
Power and Light, 2016a). However, these plants are hundreds of miles away from Volusia County
(located near the major metropolitan areas of Port St. Lucie and Miami) and their benefits cannot be
reaped by citizens in the county due to this distance. With successful nuclear plants already in
operation within the state, why should Volusia County not try to acknowledge the possibility of such
a project?
Fossil fuels, as is widely known, are exhaustible resources that cannot possibly sustain humankind's
energy needs ad infinitum. Nuclear energy provides a way to wean our population off natural gases,
not necessarily overnight, but over the course of years or decades. Volusia does have the space, and
the St. John's River provides an excellent water source to take advantage of for cooling the towers
necessary to sustain

"The planes were hijacked, the buildings fell, and thousands of lives were lost nearly a thousand

Descriptive Essay About South Boston
10. South Boston
Known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, South Boston is placed on a peninsula that
extends into the Boston Harbor. It is linked to the rest of the city through a narrow strip of land.
Over the years, this strip of land has been gradually widened through landfill.
For over a century, South Boston has been one of the most populated neighborhoods in the city. In
the mid–1800s, it was the third most populous section of Boston. Over the year, new residential
subdivisions have developed in the neighborhood. Each new subdivision has a unique character and
architectural style. Telegraph Hill and Dorchester Heights were both created in the middle of the
19th century to house the city's growing population base.
Originally annexed by Boston in 1804, this neighborhood really started to thrive in the mid–19th
century when the Old Colony Railroad made reaching downtown Boston easy. Before long, it was a
center of industry with shipyards, iron foundries and machine shops popping up everywhere. Today,
industrial buildings can still be found on the northern side of the peninsula.
Modern South Boston has many long–time residents as well as young professionals. With its easy
access to downtown, this area is popular among commuters. It boasts of a thriving nightlife scene
and open spaces. Miles of waterfront parks and beaches can be found at areas like L Street Beach,
Carson Beach, the Strandway and Pleasure Bay.

I Never Knew What 9 / 11 Essay
I never knew what 9/11 was up until the middle of the first semester of my 6th grade year. A teacher
of mine, whom I no longer remember the subject he taught, briefly mentioned the attack on the
World Trade Center's twin towers by a pair of hijacked passenger airplanes. In the page we were on
of our textbook, I saw a still frame image taken from a video that captured the North Tower standing
perfectly fine seconds before it is slammed by Flight 11 that Tuesday morning. Unlike most people
that have seen a mainstream picture of the second tower being hit, this was my first visual
interpretation of the attacks; however, I would only put this in the back of my head as I left that
classroom, probably excited to go home and do something entertaining like using my legos to build
something.
Over the course of the following years though, my interest in architecture grew as my family and I
lived abroad in Spain. While there some was unique European architecture I found interesting there,
such as the Eiffel Tower in France or the Royal Palace in Madrid, I still looked into American
architecture, all the way across the Atlantic Ocean; and where does one have to look for the finest
examples of it? Well, New York City for the most part.
New York City inhabits hundreds and hundreds of tall structures, but the tallest of them all back in
the day between the 30s and 80s were four: The Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and
lastly the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

These buildings were designed to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters
(Feuer). Yet the government expects us to believe that a minor fire in this tower was capable of
demolishing it. Science has proved that the only way for it to collapse would have to be the melting
of the steel caging and that takes an intense amount of heat nowhere close to what the minor fires
had achieved. The scientific theory is that it must have collapsed with help of an outside force such
as demolition charges. The World Trade Centers' fell in a way that has never occurred by a normal
melting of the core. According to the U.S. media, "the combined heat from the fuel and combustion
caused the cores of the towers to melt, and therefore collapse" (Feuer). But as many know, a
building can only collapse straight–down, when explosives are put in place. If the heat really did
melt the cores, the towers would have collapsed to a side, instead of crumbling down. Many videos
from 9–11 show that the concrete is jutting outwards of the building as it falls. Yet, that only occurs
when explosives cause this to happen (Williamson). Some of the floors are seen to explode before
the top floors crashed. This adds to the theory that there was demolition in the towers and that this
demolition detonated earlier than it was supposed to. The bombs would have had to be placed
months earlier. There is no

Analysis Of The Novel Adirondack Sundown
Alexis O'Dell
Mr. Mucilli/Mr. Simonds
24 October 2017 Adirondack Sundown Essay
Assignment
The Adirondack Park is a significant location in the novel Adirondack Sundown. Graham Scott and
Sarah Waters were picnicking one day at Rockwood State Forest when Graham suddenly had to go
back to work, Sarah stayed behind to take pictures of the scenery and then, she was abducted. Many
places in the Adirondacks are very significant to the story. Some places in the Adirondack Park that
are in the novel are Kane Mountain, Rockwood State Forest and Old Forge.
South of the Adirondack Park is where Kane Mountain is located. Kane Mountain was formed by
glaciers during the ice age. The mountain is between several lakes, including Pine Lake and Canada
Lake. The hike to the top of Kane Mountain is moderate in difficulty. There are many trails that
exist. The most commonly used trail is the East trail departing from Green Lake Road.
Kane Mountain plays a significant role in the novel because a character named Kane Johnson, who
abducted Sarah, and his sister Caroga lived here. The Kane Mountain Observation Station played a
huge role in the novel also.
The Kane Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic location on Kane Mountain at Caroga
Lake in Fulton County, New York. The station includes a 60–foot–tall, steel–frame lookout tower
erected in 1925, an observer's cabin built about 1960, and foot trail. The tower and trail are
contributing resources. The tower is a prefabricated structure built by the Aermotor Corporation and
provided a front line of defense in preserving the Adirondack Forest Preserve from the hazards of
forest fires. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
The 858–acre Rockwood State Forest is located in Fulton County just south of the Adirondack Blue
Line between NY 29, NY 10A and NY 10. There are nearly five miles of old roads that are used for
cross country skiing in the winter as well as hiking the rest of the year. The main feature of this state
forest is the scenic Rockwood Lake, located off the North Loop Road Trail. The state land is used
for water quality protection, recreation, wildlife habitat and timber production. Some characteristics

The Technology Into Our Nursing World
In the nursing profession there is constantly changes in how we practice, whether it be evidence
based practice or innovating the latest technology into our nursing world. I have been with UPMC
for eight years now and have seen many changes occur. Some of the changes within the organization
have made an impact on my nursing practice and others not so much. Anytime we are involved with
a project "going live" there is a lot of planning that goes into the project and so many people are
involved in making it a success. One example that I can use is the building of the new entrance way
at Presby and all that has went into the process so far. This directly affected my unit and the lab that
was housed in the old Children's Hospital South Tower section. Our unit was moved over the South
Tower in June of 2011 in order to renovate our previous unit and an additional unit that was needed
to hold our patients. When we moved over to the South Tower it was to be a temporary move and it
was anticipated that we should only be there for about a year because renovations were being done
on the entrance way of the main hospital and the South Tower was going to be tore down. The lab
was also in the South Tower and needed to be moved to a building down the street. There was a lot
of strategic planning involved with the labs move because the tube station that sent our specimens
needed to extend from Presby/Montefiore to the new lab building. This planning involved
construction and people

September 11 : The Beliefs Of 9 / 11
On September 11th, 2001, one of the most terrorizing acts in the United States was committed. This
act of terror was one against ourselves. There are many beliefs of what happened on this tragic
morning. Some say this was a terrorist attack from the middle east, and others say this was an inside
job. The former just doesn't add up. The commission report doesn't match what random witnesses
had said, there were suspicious power outages in the towers the weekend before the event, and
physicians show how the collapse is more than what was reported. In favor of the FBI, there were
phone calls reported that can be proven to have happened. It is fact that the 9/11 attacks were
horrific acts of terror, however, the evidence suggests that it was done against ourselves. There are
flaws in everything. People aren't perfect, but there's a line between simple mistakes and flat out
lies. In the commission report for 9/11, it is stated that the plane that hit The Pentagon flew on the
north side of the Citgo gas station. However, if the plane came from that side, it wouldn't be able to
cause the damage that was reported in the commission. The plane should have flown in from the
south side to match the damage report. There are downed light poles leading up to The Pentagon on
the south side. The only logical interpretation of the damage in and around The Pentagon is that the
plane had come from the south side of the gas station, but all witnesses, and the commission says
otherwise.

Construction Of The Crystal Palace
The Crystal Palace can be described as a firm glass building that was initially made in Hyde Park,
London, in order to be the home for the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was known that "14,000
exhibitors from all around organized together in the 990,000 square foot exhibition space in order to
display models of technology that was developed during the Industrial Revolution." () It was created
and designed by a man named Joseph Paxton and is "three times bigger than St. Paul's Cathedral." ()
Once the exhibition was over, the palace was relocated to South London to a place known named
Penge Common at the top of Penge Peak close to Sydenham Hill. The Crystal Palace stood from
1854 until its demolition by fire in 1936. The Eiffel Tower was built in Paris, France in 1889. The
construction of the tower began in January of 1887 and was finished just in time to be an entry arch
for the World's fair in 1889. The World's fair was significant because it celebrated the 100th year
anniversary of the French Revolution, which took place in 1789–1799. The Eiffel Tower is known
"as the greatest prominent artificial monuments in the world and as the most visited paid
monument."() The Eiffel Tower got the name from an engineer, by the name of Gustave Eiffel,
whose corporation planned, designed, and built the famous monument that still stands today. The
Crystal Palace was originally built in 1851 in London. In January 1850 a team was created in order

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Cranberry And Blue Cranberry and blue. Why cranberry? "Ah–hem..." Professor Bagshot stood in front of my desk glaring at me. I had zoned out again. Pages from textbooks fly through my head until I find the correct one. "That is the first part to Polyjuice Potion. Little did I realize that my owl, Hephaestus, was hopping around following me through the hall with my mirror, flapping his wings trying to get my attention. "Oh yeah... Thanks." I said as Amelia walked away, looking back at Hephaestus with entertained eyes, for her was slightly deformed, hence his name. Nevertheless, I loved him with all my heart. He, also, was the only family I had left. "Hey Phaestus, what you got there?" I take the mirror and lean my back against the wall so no one could see the reflection. I push the button on the bottom and my earbuds fall into my hand, from the handle. Hephaestus flies into the rafters above. Once I put the headphones in, the display morphs from my face to a news station. It shows the Twin Towers in New York City, smoke rising from south ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Racial Identity And Gender Identity In a recent South Park episode, titles "The Cissy", in order for his own personal gain to use the girls' bathroom and later to receive his own bathroom, Cartman dons a pink bow on his head to become "Erica." Meanwhile, Randy Marsh (as known as Lorde to most and Stan's dad) must battle with his gender identity and that of his music as women at his work are uncomfortable with sharing a bathroom with him, therefore he must receive his own against his wishes. While both Cartman's and Randy Marsh's struggles with their gender identity revolve around the use of a bathroom, through the juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and becoming transgender, the symbolism of the "executive bathroom," and the final scene of Stan singing in the bathroom designated for "Cissys'" reveal society's inability to comprehend gender– identity struggles, thus exposing the uselessness of gender– labeling. The juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and wearing a bow cause laughter from the audience thus revealing society's inability to comprehend the seriousness of both actions. • 17. Importance Of Measuring Meridian Arcs Essay The completion of the survey of a great chain of first order triangulation's along the arc of the 30th meridian of east longitude, from South Africa to Egypt, is considered one of the most exceptional surveying feats to ever be executed in Africa and thus its history has interested geodetic surveyors throughout the world. This paper aims to expatiate on the importance of measuring meridian arcs, the need to establish a geodetic survey in a country or continent and subsequently will recount the sequence of events that led to the 75 year length completion of the African arc. The size and shape of the Earth have been of interest to man since the earliest of times, dating as far back to Eratosthenes in the third century. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th century, geodesists were pre–occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of the size and shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to determine the radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc, conceived by Sir David Gill, Her Majesty 's Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the understanding that it would contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and dimensions on the Earth (Smith, 2006) therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy. However, besides the need to determine more accurate dimensions for the Earth (Hendriks, 1955), there was a pressing need to establish a reliable and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Chu Lai Massacre Attacks stretched as far as the northern U.S. military installation, Chu Lai, down to the primary objective in the south, Saigon. The launch of such an intricate and fierce attack caught many U.S. commanders off guard because at the time, the potential of the Northern fighters was severely underestimated. In the years before, Saigon acted as a safe haven for many refugees trying to escape the horrors of war. The comfort of the city soon vanished when the North Vietnamese sent 35 battalions to seize six objectives in the capital. A few of these enemy fighters took over a government radio station with the intention of spreading pro–communist propaganda. The North Vietnamese believed that if they could control the transmitting tower, they could convince the citizens of the South to riot against the U.S. forces. Fortunately for the U.S. troops, this plan was stopped by a Lieutenant of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) who previously decided to cut all transmission to and from the government radio tower. The buildings owes it begging to the American phenomenon of the railroad, the institution that allowed for American expansion into the modern era and more specifically the growth of the west coast metropolis of Los Angeles that prior was just a small Spanish town. Just across the street from the Avila adobe, one of the first and oldest existing Spanish settlements in L.A., lays Union station, a building that holds on to the city's Spanish roots through Spanish mission style architecture. At the time of its erection, the building not only told the story of the small Spanish town that Los Angeles was but also hinted at the industrial metropolis that Los Angeles would be through the art deco language. Through the fine usage and mixture of elements at a macro and micro scale, Union Station successfully mixes the two languages of Art Deco modern and Spanish mission style to form a landmark that is a remnant of a significant transitional period in LA's history. Just like many other U.S cities during the early 20th century los angles experienced a period of unprecedented industrial growth and population increase that followed. • 37. Essay On Environmental Factors Affecting Cell Phone Company Environmental Factors The environmental factors of integrating a cell phone company into India are an important factor of globalization of a company. It is important to look at what will be affected environmentally as well as how the environment, climate, and topography of a location can be poor or beneficial. If a region is known to have inclement weather, it may not be worth the costs of building there. Ecological consequences, cost of energy in a region, and the disposal of material should all be looked at when debating the addition of a cell phone company. All of the follow factors must be considered for a successful launch and expansion into India. Infrastructure The infrastructure of a company must first be possible and plausible before it can be integrated into a new community. The average cost of building a cellphone tower is reported at $150,000. This amount can fluctuate with the availability of land and air rights. Vertically, these towers can range in height from 200ft to 2,000ft depending on the type of tower. Horizontally, the ideal area of land needed ranges from 1,000 to 10,000 square feet (Schmidt). The geographical and topographical position of these towers can add or lower costs. Highly mountainous areas may cause more of an issue then a flat terrain. When this factor is added, the surround wildlife must also then be examined. In addition to the towers, operating plants and retail stores must all be considered. According to U.S government officials, nineteen men hijacked four fuel–loaded commercial planes with the intent to destroy the World Trade Center in New York City, as well as both the Pentagon and the White House in Washington D.C. The attacks began at 8:46am ET when American Airline's Flight 11 struck the North tower of the World Trade Center, causing chaos on the streets below. One MSNBC reporter, who was actually inside the north tower after the plane struck, stated "I heard a second explosion...And then a fire marshal came in and said we had to leave, because if there was a third explosion this building might not last" (Bombs and Explosions in the WTC 1). This quote not only tells us that there was a possible explosion inside the World Trade Center, but that there seem to have been more than one. If the collapse of the towers really was a controlled demolition as it looked like to many, this would mean that a lot of premeditated work to place explosives would have had to occur. Seeing as very few people have access to every place of the World Trade Center, it does seem likely that some government cooperation would have been needed to make it happen. Many researchers claim that the explosions heard in and around the World Trade Center could have been from exploding electrical transformers. They say that the heat from the fire was too much for the transformers and caused explosions throughout the building. Author of George Washington's Blog had this to say about the topic: "Well, if exploding transformers caused these sounds and the collapse of the Twin Towers, why didn't we hear the same things and see the collapse of the buildings in Madrid, Venezuela, Los Angeles and elsewhere which burned hotter and ... According to the Nuclear Energy Institute, "...as of November 2016, 30 countries worldwide are operating 450 nuclear reactors for electricity generation and 60 new nuclear plants are under construction" (Nuclear Energy Institute, 2016). Not only has nuclear power seen use across the world, but it has seen applications in the United States and right here in Florida. Currently, there are two facilities operated by Florida Power and Light (FPL) in the Sunshine State that produce over 3,000 megawatts of energy homes, public buildings, and businesses alike (Florida Power and Light, 2016a). However, these plants are hundreds of miles away from Volusia County (located near the major metropolitan areas of Port St. Lucie and Miami) and their benefits cannot be reaped by citizens in the county due to this distance. With successful nuclear plants already in operation within the state, why should Volusia County not try to acknowledge the possibility of such a project? Fossil fuels, as is widely known, are exhaustible resources that cannot possibly sustain humankind's energy needs ad infinitum. Nuclear energy provides a way to wean our population off natural gases, not necessarily overnight, but over the course of years or decades. • 58. Descriptive Essay About South Boston 10. South Boston Known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, South Boston is placed on a peninsula that extends into the Boston Harbor. It is linked to the rest of the city through a narrow strip of land. Over the years, this strip of land has been gradually widened through landfill. For over a century, South Boston has been one of the most populated neighborhoods in the city. In the mid–1800s, it was the third most populous section of Boston. Over the year, new residential subdivisions have developed in the neighborhood. Each new subdivision has a unique character and architectural style. Telegraph Hill and Dorchester Heights were both created in the middle of the 19th century to house the city's growing population base. Originally annexed by Boston in 1804, this neighborhood really started to thrive in the mid–19th century when the Old Colony Railroad made reaching downtown Boston easy. Before long, it was a center of industry with shipyards, iron foundries and machine shops popping up everywhere. Today, industrial buildings can still be found on the northern side of the peninsula. Modern South Boston has many long–time residents as well as young professionals. With its easy access to downtown, this area is popular among commuters. It boasts of a thriving nightlife scene and open spaces. Miles of waterfront parks and beaches can be found at areas like L Street Beach, Carson Beach, the Strandway and Pleasure Bay. • 60. I Never Knew What 9 / 11 Essay I never knew what 9/11 was up until the middle of the first semester of my 6th grade year. A teacher of mine, whom I no longer remember the subject he taught, briefly mentioned the attack on the World Trade Center's twin towers by a pair of hijacked passenger airplanes. In the page we were on of our textbook, I saw a still frame image taken from a video that captured the North Tower standing perfectly fine seconds before it is slammed by Flight 11 that Tuesday morning. Unlike most people that have seen a mainstream picture of the second tower being hit, this was my first visual interpretation of the attacks; however, I would only put this in the back of my head as I left that classroom, probably excited to go home and do something entertaining like using my legos to build something. Over the course of the following years though, my interest in architecture grew as my family and I lived abroad in Spain. While there some was unique European architecture I found interesting there, such as the Eiffel Tower in France or the Royal Palace in Madrid, I still looked into American architecture, all the way across the Atlantic Ocean; and where does one have to look for the finest examples of it? Well, New York City for the most part. New York City inhabits hundreds and hundreds of tall structures, but the tallest of them all back in the day between the 30s and 80s were four: The Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and lastly the twin towers of the World Trade Center. ... A plane had been hijacked and flown into the tower. All of the firefighters and Chief Hosterman got into their trucks while in a state of terror. When they arrived at the scene, it was terrifying. People were crying, children were screaming, and ashes were flying everywhere. Chief Hosterman sent fighters in: Wells and Miles. They made it to the eighty–fifth floor and saved about fifty people before being hit by a cloud of ashes. Right before, Wells sent an alert to the chief, so Danvers and ... • 64. The Events That Took Place On September 11 Krishonda Depp English 102 Essay 3: Persuasive November 20, 2014 9/11 Conspiracy . The events that took place on September 11, 2001 will go down in history as the most tragic disasters to hit the United States of America. The destruction of the Twin Towers is a very controversial issue and is still being talked about today. It was devastating for us to see the towers fall and thousands of Americans lose their lives. It happened so fast that a lot of the details were overlooked, but now thirteen years later, one can sit down and look into what really happened on this day. The inevitable outcome is that the planes did not cause the Twins Towers to collapse. Instead, there were bombs placed in the basement of the buildings, set to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These buildings were designed to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters (Feuer). Yet the government expects us to believe that a minor fire in this tower was capable of demolishing it. Science has proved that the only way for it to collapse would have to be the melting of the steel caging and that takes an intense amount of heat nowhere close to what the minor fires had achieved. The scientific theory is that it must have collapsed with help of an outside force such as demolition charges. The World Trade Centers' fell in a way that has never occurred by a normal melting of the core. According to the U.S. media, "the combined heat from the fuel and combustion caused the cores of the towers to melt, and therefore collapse" (Feuer). But as many know, a building can only collapse straight–down, when explosives are put in place. If the heat really did melt the cores, the towers would have collapsed to a side, instead of crumbling down. Many videos from 9–11 show that the concrete is jutting outwards of the building as it falls. Yet, that only occurs when explosives cause this to happen (Williamson). Some of the floors are seen to explode before the top floors crashed. This adds to the theory that there was demolition in the towers and that this demolition detonated earlier than it was supposed to. The bombs would have had to be placed months earlier. Analysis Of The Novel Adirondack Sundown Alexis O'Dell Mr. Mucilli/Mr. Simonds 24 October 2017 Adirondack Sundown Essay Assignment The Adirondack Park is a significant location in the novel Adirondack Sundown. Graham Scott and Sarah Waters were picnicking one day at Rockwood State Forest when Graham suddenly had to go back to work, Sarah stayed behind to take pictures of the scenery and then, she was abducted. Many places in the Adirondacks are very significant to the story. Some places in the Adirondack Park that are in the novel are Kane Mountain, Rockwood State Forest and Old Forge. • 68. The Technology Into Our Nursing World In the nursing profession there is constantly changes in how we practice, whether it be evidence based practice or innovating the latest technology into our nursing world. I have been with UPMC for eight years now and have seen many changes occur. Some of the changes within the organization have made an impact on my nursing practice and others not so much. Anytime we are involved with a project "going live" there is a lot of planning that goes into the project and so many people are involved in making it a success. One example that I can use is the building of the new entrance way at Presby and all that has went into the process so far. This directly affected my unit and the lab that was housed in the old Children's Hospital South Tower section. Our unit was moved over the South Tower in June of 2011 in order to renovate our previous unit and an additional unit that was needed to hold our patients. When we moved over to the South Tower it was to be a temporary move and it was anticipated that we should only be there for about a year because renovations were being done on the entrance way of the main hospital and the South Tower was going to be tore down. The lab was also in the South Tower and needed to be moved to a building down the street. There was a lot of strategic planning involved with the labs move because the tube station that sent our specimens needed to extend from Presby/Montefiore to the new lab building. This planning involved construction and people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. September 11 : The Beliefs Of 9 / 11 On September 11th, 2001, one of the most terrorizing acts in the United States was committed. This act of terror was one against ourselves. There are many beliefs of what happened on this tragic morning. Some say this was a terrorist attack from the middle east, and others say this was an inside job. The former just doesn't add up. The commission report doesn't match what random witnesses had said, there were suspicious power outages in the towers the weekend before the event, and physicians show how the collapse is more than what was reported. In favor of the FBI, there were phone calls reported that can be proven to have happened. It is fact that the 9/11 attacks were horrific acts of terror, however, the evidence suggests that it was done against ourselves. There are flaws in everything. People aren't perfect, but there's a line between simple mistakes and flat out lies. In the commission report for 9/11, it is stated that the plane that hit The Pentagon flew on the north side of the Citgo gas station. However, if the plane came from that side, it wouldn't be able to cause the damage that was reported in the commission. The plane should have flown in from the south side to match the damage report. There are downed light poles leading up to The Pentagon on the south side. The only logical interpretation of the damage in and around The Pentagon is that the plane had come from the south side of the gas station, but all witnesses, and the commission says otherwise. ... Construction Of The Crystal Palace The Crystal Palace can be described as a firm glass building that was initially made in Hyde Park, London, in order to be the home for the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was known that "14,000 exhibitors from all around organized together in the 990,000 square foot exhibition space in order to display models of technology that was developed during the Industrial Revolution." () It was created and designed by a man named Joseph Paxton and is "three times bigger than St. Paul's Cathedral." () Once the exhibition was over, the palace was relocated to South London to a place known named Penge Common at the top of Penge Peak close to Sydenham Hill. The Crystal Palace stood from 1854 until its demolition by fire in 1936. The Eiffel Tower was built in Paris, France in 1889. The construction of the tower began in January of 1887 and was finished just in time to be an entry arch for the World's fair in 1889. The World's fair was significant because it celebrated the 100th year anniversary of the French Revolution, which took place in 1789–1799. The Eiffel Tower is known "as the greatest prominent artificial monuments in the world and as the most visited paid monument."() The Eiffel Tower got the name from an engineer, by the name of Gustave Eiffel, whose corporation planned, designed, and built the famous monument that still stands today. Feasibility Study 3.1 Solar Feasibility RESs based electrical energy is essentially compelled by geographic variables and utility components. India is one of the best beneficiaries of sunlight–based energy because of its ideal area in the sun–powered belt (40°S to 40°N). Accessibility of consistent solar radiation forecasting is crucial to the fulfillment of solar PV installations in distinctive geographical locations of the nation (Ramachandra et al., 2011). The Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) is beneficial for flat type solar collector while for sun creditors, which might be concentrating in nature Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI) data forecasting is needed. Indian Meteorological Section is the foremost government corporation in subjects regarding meteorology in the country. MNRE has taken several initiatives to install numerous major projects in order to develop a Solar Atlas, which is capable of valuing or quantifying solar radiation as well as other weather parameters.
