Explicit Instruction
Explicit instruction refers to task–specific, teacher–led instruction that overtly demonstrates how to
complete a task and can be used to teach students both basic and higher–order reading skills.
Elements of explicit teaching include setting and articulating learning goals, illustrating or modeling
how to complete a task, and assessing student understanding and ability to complete the task
independently. The routines and consistent language used in explicit teaching provide ELLs clear,
specific, and easy–to–follow procedures as they learn not only a new skill or strategy but also the
language associated with it. Explicit skill instruction has been shown to be effective with ELLs who
are in the beginning stages of learning to decode English

Essay on Tone and Imagery in The School Children
Tone and Imagery in The School Children
Louise Gluck's The School Children may provide some shock for readers as it twists and turns
through a school day marked by eerie abnormalities. Gluck successfully uses visual imagery to
convey a deeper meaning to a fourteen–line poem about children, teachers and parents. These three
groups come to life through the descriptive poem that allows readers to form their own conclusions.
Though Gluck's meaning is never clearly stated, her use of tone and imagery create an extremely
visual work with three dynamic sets of characters.
Gluck continuously presents the schoolchildren as simple, orderly creatures. She portrays them as
heading to school with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The teachers are described in only one other line in the remainder of the poem. In line ten, near the
work s conclusion, Gluck writes, And the teachers shall instruct them in silence (10). This line
obviously leaves itself open to multiple interpretations. Can readers conclude that the teachers are
instructing the schoolchildren how to be silent? Surely it is believable that the faculty created by
Gluck would be teaching a set of students neatly arranged as if they were stuffed dolls to continue to
be silent. Others could view the description as implying that it is the teachers themselves who are
silent in addition to being motionless throughout the poem. It would not be challenging to view the
irony in a cast of teachers who are silent and possibly unable to instruct.
Gluck's final set of

Analysis Of Teaching Situation : Procedure
Analysis of Teaching Situation Procedure The main teaching strategy used was direct instruction.
Part One – Recap of addition and revision of previous knowledge Class started by referring back to
what was taught previously. The teacher went through some simple summation questions (e.g.
2+2+2+3) with the student, recapping the method of addition – "Doubles", "Near Doubles" (i.e.
2+2=4 and 2+3=2+2+1 and 4+5 is a "Near Doubles" pair again). Part Two – Building up to the topic
Then teacher then went through one activity of finding patterns (see Figure 1). Part Three –
Introducing the Ant problem After refreshing the idea of patterns, the teacher distributed a problem
to all students and asked them to work through individually. Then Question was: Tom counted 3
ants in the ant house on Tuesday, and every day after, there appear to be two more ants in the ant
house, find how many ants there will be on Sunday when Tom Counted. Part Four – Working
through the question The students were allowed 20 minutes to work individually without assistance
from the teacher, then called together for the teacher to go through the question. Part Five – Further
practice Students split up again to work on finding the number of ants till the next Thursday. When
most students managed to grasp the concept, the teacher called the students back and recapped the
methodology. Class ended with a quick summary of the problem and the evaluation of the behaviour
of the student. Positive Factors of the

My Reflection Of School : My Experience In The Classroom
The School My practicum placement school is small and in an older building within a small town.
According to my clinical supervisor, the majority of students are Caucasian and more than half
receive free lunch. The administrative staff seems highly focused on literacy and test scores, but
have not seen good results in the past. The teachers often voice concerns over the lack of support
from the administration.
The Classroom The Kindergarten inclusion classroom, I observed, is on the backside of the school.
The classroom is surrounded by other Kindergarten classrooms. There are fifteen students total, six
of which are identified, by the teacher, as advanced. These students are currently working on at least
a 2nd grade level. She considers another seven students to be higher than average. These students
are currently 3–6 months ahead academically. Within the classroom, there are two students
considered in the low group, one of which is identified under special education guidelines. The lead
teacher has been teaching Kindergarten for fourteen years and appears emotionally invested her
students' successes. There is also a full–time paraprofessional, who has worked with the lead teacher
for the past four years. The students have been using laptops since the beginning of the year to play
educational games and complete assessments. Students have just received their own iPads this past
week and are already beginning to work with them on occasion. The classroom has an overall
cluttered and disorganized feel. It is not overly filled with bulletin boards or extreme decorations.
However, the teachers often toss supplies around haphazardly. They clip random worksheets,
directions, and materials to the board, often in an attempt to find them a quick, temporary home.
Activities
I observed the inclusion classroom multiple times and noticed that the activities are largely centers
based. One math center involved counting on using a giant number line on the floor. Another asked
that students compose and decompose numbers on a worksheet. Meanwhile, another small group
worked with the lead teacher using their iPads to answer prompts about greater than and less than.
Literacy activities most often followed the same center

What Is The Tone Of The Girl By Jamaica Kincaid
The "Girl" is a poem that was written by Jamaica Kincaid. The poem depicts a mother instructing
her daughter of what to do, and how to do it. As stated in the poem the child was being instructed on
how to buy cotton which shows that the person receiving the instruction is a girl, "buying cotton to
make a nice blouse," shows females attributes and qualities. As quoted, "iron your father's khaki
shirt so that it doesn't have a crease," shows that it is a mother speaking. The tone of the poem is one
of denial, because of the instruction in which the mother was giving to the daughter. As stated,
"always eat your food... turn someone else's stomach;" and tone is throughout the poem.
The instructive lessons that are outlined in the text for example, "how to wash the clothes, how to
smile at someone you like, and how to set the table." Shows that the girl does not know how to do
things in the right way or what is pleasing to the mother's approval. In Girl the mother is trying to
teach the daughter manners including how to smile to people even if you do not like that person and
how to set the table.
The mother in the poem seems like a perfectionist who wants things done in a specify way to meet
not only the persons who is doing the specific duty but it should also meet the approval of ... Show

Formal Assessment–
R.A.C.E. Strategy Quiz– At the end of the lesson, students will be handed an R.A.C.E. strategy
where they must write in what each letter of the acronym stands for.
3–2–1 Summarizing Activity– On the back of the R.A.C.E. Strategy quiz students will be instructed
to write in 3 main points from the lesson today, 2 things they did not like about the lesson, and one
question they still have about the topics and information covered in the day's lesson. Both of these
assessments will be used to monitor student learning, and also evaluate the effectiveness of the

Classroom Comprehension : Building Comprehension Skills
Building Comprehension Skills Brittany Cronin COE 501–Introduction to Research and Evaluation
in Education Fall B 2014 Dr. Ray Ostos Building Comprehension Skills Walk into any school and
you will hear the word comprehension. Comprehending text is a necessity for all students in all
grade levels as well as individuals entering college and beyond. With the launch of the Common
Core State Standards, students need to be able to show their comprehension of text numerous ways,
and if the students do not have strategies and skills in place to comprehend a text, their future
schooling will prove to be most difficult. Each year in my classroom, a number of students do not
have any comprehension ability and fall far behind their classmates. Comprehending a text is what
real readers do when they are reading. Routledge (2011) states, "Skilled readers are those who
actively and automatically construct meaning as they read; they are self–motivated and self–
directed; they monitor their own comprehension by questioning, reviewing, revising, and rereading
to enhance their overall comprehension." Students should be able to approach any content area, any
article, book, and menu, really anything at all to understand and make meaning of what they are
reading. Some students need extra help comprehending text and as educators, instructional strategies
should be implemented to help all students succeed. The purpose of this literature review is to name

Haswell:
Haswell introduced new instructions for x86 ISA, divided into four categories. The first one is
AVX2 which uses integer SIMD instructions from 128–bits to 256–bits whereas the original version
was a 256 –bit extension using YMM registers, mostly the floating point instructions. In addition
Haswell also had Intel's Fused Multiply Add (FMA) which includes 36 FP instructions that performs
256–bit computations and 60 instructions for 128–bit vectors. Haswell also supports 15 scalar bit
manipulation instructions [17] which consists of bit field manipulations such as insert, extract and
shift, bit counting such as zero count [17], an arbitrary precision integer multiply and rotate

The uops that are to be computed are dispatched to ports 0, 1, 5 and 6 and are executed in the
respective execution units. The execution units in Haswell are arranged in three stacks: SIMD
integer, integer and FP which operate independent from each other. Each stack has different data
types, potentially different registers and result forwarding networks. The data path can connect with
a given stack for accessing the registers and forwarding network. Forwarding between networks
may need an extra cycle to move different stacks. The load and store units access the port numbers
2–4 and 7 accesses the integer by pass network thus reducing the access to the GPR and latency for
forwarding. The new port which is the scalar integer port accesses the general purpose registers and
integer by pass network. This execution unit handles standard arithmetic and logical operations that
are previously handled by port 5 in the previous architectures whereas port 5 now includes an ALU
and a fast LEA unit losing the branch and shift units. Advantage with this added port is that it can
handle many instructions while the SIMD dispatch port is utilized

Evaluation Of A Training On Embedded Instruction
Recruited teachers will be randomly assigned to one of three conditions. Participants in the first
condition will receive continued coaching on embedded instruction. Teachers in this condition will
receive training by their coach for one hour per week, be observed by their coach one hour per
week, and will receive feedback through email or phone call. Teachers in the second condition will
attend two six–hour long workshops on embedded instruction and will not have continued contact
with an embedded instruction coach. Finally, teachers in the third condition will not receive training
on embedded instruction and will serve as a control group. Data will be collected from these
teachers at four time points. (T1) Data will be collected for the first time point four–weeks after
school begins to provide teachers with time to become familiar with their students' behaviors so that
they can identify target children with challenging behaviors. T1 will serve as a baseline measure, as
no teachers will have received embedded instruction coaching or training. (T2) Next, data will be
collected before students leave for winter break, preferably two–weeks before break begins to avoid
data collection too close to the holidays which could lead to distractions. (T3) Data will be collected
again in early spring approximately two to three weeks after students return from holiday break.

Universal Design For Learning Programs
Introduction The idea of a Universal Design was originally based in architecture design of the 1970s
by Ron Mace (King – Sears, 2009). The concept grew from the idea of building design that would
meet the universal needs of all people by removing barriers. Cut ramps in sidewalks for
wheelchairs, door handles rather than knobs, and other accommodations that removed barriers to
access and unrestricting flow for all possible visitors, etc. Growing from this universal design notion
stemmed the idea of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Thus, in a UDL learning environment, it
is an environment unimpeded for all learners regardless of any disability or label such as LD or
ELL. The Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) purports in their 2011 document
"Universal Design for Learning Guidelines version 2.0", that such learning environments should
center on the "How" of learning examining strategic differentiated learning for the classroom; the
"What" of learning with the wide range of assessment options available to teachers and students;
and the "Why" of learning providing the purpose of learning and engagement in the learning
process. UDL Examining a review of some of the literature regarding UDL and the various website
resources, especially the CAST website, I found that a UDL system is not a learning system that can
be adopted and implemented to help instruction of students with a specific disability. Rather, UDL is
a learning system that strives to increase the

A Research Study On Student Performance Essay
Methodology In this study there are several participants, six teachers and around 350 students. The
data being analyzed consists of three different points of data that enables the research to be more
reliable and provides a more accurate view of student performance in the classes with direct
instruction as the method of teaching, and classes where the teacher utilizes hands–on instruction as
their primary method of teaching.
To conduct this research, there have been six teachers selected from Mena Middle School. Two of
the teachers are novice teachers, having less than three years experience in the classroom. Two of
the teachers are experienced teachers having more than three, but less than twenty years in the
classroom. The last two teachers are veteran teachers. They have at least twenty years of experience
in the classroom, and often have a set way of teaching that does not very much from year to year.
These six teachers teach in the tested areas of Literacy, Math, and Science.
Next, three other teachers have agreed to observe each of these classes once a quarter through the
year. They are to take explicit notes over what they see in the classroom, this includes on–task and
off–task behavior, disruptive behavior, student engagement, teacher–student interaction, and
student–student interaction. This information is then converted into numerical data in which they
identify the percentage of students performing each of the previously listed behaviors. This data is

Nobody 's Son Is The Winner Of The American Book And...
Nobody's son is the winner of the American book and translated around the world. Luis Alberto
Urrea is the author. He wrote several categories of books. He is a member of the Latino Literature
Hall of Fame. When he was a child, he lived in neighbor where there was racial discrimination. His
mom was a segregationist, so she abandoned him to live with his father. His father wanted to teach
him to be a real man. However, his instructions were too aggressive. Therefore, learning something
quickly from critical situations, forcing kids to do some dislikes to stop crying, enhancing patience
from facing injuries, and being a bad model for kids are too offensive to instruct kids to be a real
man. To instruct children to be able to do something rapidly by practicing in a dangerous situation
does not mean to be a real man. Parents might let their children learn how to train some abilities by
themselves, but parents should not teach their children in a dangerous situation because children
cannot help themselves yet. For instance, Luis's dad teaches him how to ride a bike like a real man.
He removes training wheels and tells Luis to ride a bike on the road, which many cars are driving.
Luis falls down on the road with blood on his arm, and a driver honks a horn. This might be Luis's
luckiness that the car does not hit him. A critical situation cannot prove to be a real man. His father
may misunderstand that practicing in a terrible situation is what a real man

Middle School Is A Period Of Transition For Adolescents
Middle school is a period of transition for adolescents. Students are no longer the children were
once were in elementary school; they are beginning to mature into the adults they will need to
become. Gifted learners at the middle–school level face the same developmental and tasks tasks and
challenges that their peers do. Yet, gifted learners also possess traits that are different from their
peers, which often make them misunderstood or ignored. The need for teachers to identify these
students and differentiate instruction in a way that addresses the needs of the gifted students in the
classroom is becoming more crucial than ever. At times, being labeled as a gifted student can be a
burden for the student with that label. The Association for Middle Level Educators found, "research
indicates that many gifted students deliberately fail tests or fail to do homework so that they don't
appear to be too smart" (Payne, 2013, p. 15). The need for acceptance at this point in students' lives
outdoes the will to achieve higher than their classmates. It is common in a middle school classroom
to see students choosing to have friends over excelling academically (Payne, 2013). Judy Willis, an
Edutopia blogger , "asserts that appropriately challenging tasks are necessary for cognitive growth;
if a task is too easy, ' . . . the brain is not alert for feedback and there is no activation of the
dopamine reward response system'" (cited in Doubet, 2013, p. 10). The goal when challenging

Essay On Personal Reflection
My personal reflection
It has been my first experience to observe a lesson in a school setting since I arrived in the U.S. All I
have seen in this mainstream classroom seemed to leave positive impressions about the interactions
between the teacher and students. As a teacher, most of the instructional strategies carried out during
the lesson were quite familiar, others were quasi new for me for the fact that the context I am used
to is far different from this one I have observed. It is commonly agreed that teaching and learning
have general principles shared worldwide that any teacher can adjust him/herself to any learning
environments. However, the context in which those principles are applied makes a big difference in
ways students with culturally and linguistically diversity receive an instruction.
During the class observation, some relevant aspects called my attentions. These aspects included all
instructions provided, the learning setting, student's behavior and discipline, and teacher's
expectations. Instructions are essential tools employed to provide guidance and directions to what
students are expected to perform and be able to bolster skills and acquire a body of knowledge.
Although the majority population of students was Spanish speakers, English was used as the
language of instruction. Students received all instructions in English, and Spanish was used to help
LEP students understand clearly the activity and the meaning of words. It was clear that the teacher
applied sheltered instruction. According to Goldenberg and Coleman (2010) sheltered instruction
consists of several strategies and techniques employed to assist ELLs learn academic content
regardless of their proficiency in English. For the vocabulary test, teacher used verbal cues by
applying the use of certain expressions such as "I need you to look at the list", "please grab your
sheet of paper", "Listen to me not to your mates", "Who's with me?" to ensure that students were on
the same track and paid sufficient attention to what was being instructed. Banikowiski (1999) state
that cues either verbal "words" or nonverbal "sounds" are necessary to engage students' attention
that there is upcoming information. Teacher and students used a

Differentiated Learning Research Paper
Throughout this paper, four articles about differentiated instruction will be analyzed, and the
information in those articles will be broken down and synthesized to further exemplify how
important it is that schools across the world use this system of instruction and learning. My
definition of differentiated instruction from what I have learned, is that it is a system in the
classroom set up by the teachers or school, that allows students with intellectual disabilities to be
able to learn information they may not understand in other ways, which would give them a chance
to stay on track with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What she is teaching us is that differentiated learning has come a long way from where it once
started, what should be taken away is that it can only get better from where it started. Technology
has a big part to do with that.
Technology has quickly become one of the main resources for many schools across the country and
world. It gives students with learning disabilities a variety of options to learn, study, and practice in
the classroom and outside of the classroom depending on the school's accessibility of technology. In
one article called "Embedded Supports to Differentiate Instruction for Struggling Students" written
by Alise Bran, she talks about using technology in the classroom. She says, "The use of embedded
or readily available digital learning supports and tools has been shown to be an effective way of
addressing the needs of diverse students, particularly those with disabilities.
For many students who struggle with reading or writing, the act of decoding, or puzzling out correct
spelling, requires significant effort. Built–in tools that provide just–in–time supports relieve the
cognitive load on students, allowing them to focus more of their attention on comprehension or
generating written content," (Bran 2012). What Bran is saying is that technology is an integral part
of differentiated learning. Since all students are different, they might

Describe The Characteristics Of A Community Of Learners
Describe the characteristics of a community of learners. There are several characteristics of a
community of learners. These characteristics include: Safety: Students know that they are physically
safe and that they are not in danger in the classroom. Safety also includes students emotional and
mental well–being, meaning that they will be free from emotional damage such as bulling or name–
calling. Respect: The classroom environment is one were respect is a two–way street. In this
classroom students respect the teacher and teacher other, while the teacher shows respect to each of
the students. Any differences that students have from one another are respected and dealt will
appropriately so that students feel safe and welcomed into the classroom community. High
Expectations: In a community of learners, expectations are set by the teacher and are something that
students must work for. Students understand that the expectations are achievable but will require
hard work. These expectations go beyond academics and include student behavior. Risk Taking:
Teachers promote trying new things and introduce students to new ideas and activities. Students are
encouraged to take risks and gain a higher level of thinking. Collaboration: In a community of
learners, students work together in teams, partners, or groups. This allows students to gain social
skills and increases students' motivation for the project. Students share ideas and gain a new
understanding of the content.

Differentiated Instruction–Literature Review By Teri Daniel
Introduction – What is Differentiated Instruction?
Students are different, just like people are different. There are many varied groups of students in one
classroom. Differentiated instruction is a process for teaching and learning for students of differing
abilities in the same class (Hall et al., 2011). The intent of differentiating instruction is to maximize
each student's growth, and individual success by meeting each student where he or she is, and
assisting in the learning process (Hall et al., 2011). Instruction is differentiated in classrooms
through content, process, products, and learning environment. Teachers must adapt curriculum and
lesson planning to meet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He rejected the idea that children are primarily motivated by rewards and punishments, rather,

In 1968, Fred Keller introduced the Keller Plan, to help students in Brazil master content at their
own pace. Curriculum was short units of written texts that students moved thru at their own pace,
and then took a test. If they failed a test, they repeat coursework until they could demonstrate
mastery. Students in these PSI courses (Keller Plan) "learn course content better, remember it
longer, and like the experience more than students in traditional classes," (Fox, 2004).
In 1978, Lev Vygotsky conducted research in child psychology in the 1920s, but his work did not
reach the USA until 1978. He states: "Every function in the child's cultural development appears
twice: first, on the social level, and later, on the individual level; first, between people
(interpsychological) and then inside the child (intrapsychological)." (Vygotsky, 1978). He thought
curriculum should be interactive, teachers should scaffold by students performance, and assessment

children can do at their actual development and what they can do with help is their level of potential

Benefits of Piano Instruction at the Elementary Level Providing students an opportunity to
participate in an elementary piano class could be highly beneficial for the young student. A student
entering an instrumental music program will need to lean on previous musical training and

student entering without any prior musical training or exposure can be successful in a first year

Neuroplasticity, as defined by Encyclopedia Britannica (2017) , is the "capacity of neurons and
neural networks in the brain to change their connections and behaviour in response to new
information, sensory stimulation, development, damage, or dysfunction." One reason why this
specific research is important is because music instruction can enhance brain functions. Breaking
down the old notion that specific areas of the brain are responsible for specific assigned tasks has
been replaced by the idea of neuroplasticity and the brains ability to adapt and change throughout
life. The relevance of this science is one that would support the idea that music making enhances the
growth and maturation of all types of cognitive functions. These functions include memory,
learning, listening, and literacy. Again, success in beginning band will largely depend on the
students' ability to read and understand the music placed in front of them. But not just literacy alone;

Differentiated Instruction
The history of differentiated instruction dates back to the 1600's when there was a one room school
house and one teacher who was in charge of instructing students in a wide range of grades with a
variety of levels of knowledge and skills. As we moved towards grade schools the thought was that
all children who were the same age could learn the same lessons at the same speed but there were
those few students who were still struggling. In the early 1889 a gentleman by the name of Preston
Search urged his teachers to create an environment where students can be successful and learn at
their own speed. By 1912 achievement tests were introduced and it became more apparent that gaps
in the abilities of the students were still evident and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers may possibly differentiate the content by planning activities for different groups of
students that cover many levels of Bloom's Taxonomy which can be defined as a classification of
levels of intellectual behavior going from lower order thinking skills to higher order thinking skills.

levels of information, and using texts, computers and videos in an effort to help a student understand

Explicit Instruction
The learning model I would recommend would be the Explicit Instruction model. I would
recommend this model based on the implications the model has on increasing reading
comprehension and student achievement– especially at the primary level. By building a strong
foundation with the explicit instruction model, the teachers at the Sandy Point Elementary School
would be fostering success for their academic career. "Every teacher will find this model useful..."
(Joyce, et al, 2015, p. 18) based on research.
Since reading is thinking, without thinking about one's reading, one cannot read. The thinking
encompasses understanding what one is reading and this applies across every academic and
vocational area. The teachers can use this model to demonstrate what research shows good readers
do when they read. By modeling this behavior and talking about it while modeling the strategy, the
teacher is providing explicit instruction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another obvious nurturant side effect is the assimilation of various strategies the students can utilize
when they are reading. The instructional effects include gathering of information through the
development of the comprehension strategies.
The method is one where the teacher models for the students' strategies which help the students
learn to constantly monitor their comprehension. The teacher and student interaction is almost
continual process. Even when the students are working independently, the teacher is circulating
through the room to offer assistance/support as needed. The students are offered many opportunities
to be engaged with the text in order to practice the skills. The students also have opportunities to

Analysis and Critique of Reading Assignment 1 Paper "Limits of Instruction–Level Parallelism"
In this report the author provides quantifiable results that show the available parallelism. The report
defines various terminologies like Instruction Level parallelism, dependencies, Branch Prediction,
Data Cache Latency, Jump prediction, Memory–address alias analysis etc. used clearly. A total of
eighteen test programs with seven models have been examined and the results show significant
effects of the variations on the standard models. The seven models reflect parallelism that is
available by various compiler/architecture techniques like branch prediction, register renaming etc.
The lack of branch prediction means that it finds intra–block ... Show more content on

Though this is a good way to increase the available parallelism, but loop unrolling schemes have
difficulty in scheduling instructions efficiently with variable latency dependencies. The new
techniques of dynamic history–based approach to increase parallelism is branch prediction allow us
to benefit from a large branch predictor, enhancing success rates that are still improving slightly
even when we are using a 1–megabit predictor. The fair model is relatively insensitive to the size of
the predictor, though even a tiny 4–bit predictor improves the mean parallelism by 50%. The same is
evident in case of the Great model wherein the three most parallel programs are quite insensitive to
the size of the predictor. We look for paths of few conditional branches, up to the fanout limit, but
that we do not look past branches beyond that point. After the fanout limit is reached dynamic
prediction is used to look for instructions from the one predicted path to schedule. When fanout is
followed by good branch prediction, the fanout does not affect much. Parallelism via jump
prediction; Subroutine with return–ring technique are used. Smaller the return–prediction ring
improves some programs a lot, even under the Great model. A large return ring,

Direct Instruction Models And Lecture Instruction Model
This paper explores published articles that report on results from research conducted on direct–
instruction model and lecture–instruction model. The articles, however, vary in their definitions and
uses. Lindsey (2014) suggest that Direct–Instruction works, providing rapid gains, gains that persist,
gains that increase self–esteem because children have real skills they can be proud of. Lindseys
statement, merely hits the surface of Direct–Instruction since it is best for learning specific concepts
and/or skills. When delivering direct–instruction the instructor must have sound knowledge and skill
that is logically organized and it is ideal that the learners already poses the prerequisite knowledge
for this instruction to be most successful. This paper examines Peterson, Schwerdt and Wuppermann
(2011) research in relation to three other research articles to suggest that both direct and lecture
instruction models should be studied in order to determine different approaches with the two and
which works better for the learners. Other articles look at this instruction model differently and,
therefore, offer different results. Direct instruction was first developed by Siegfried Englemann and
Wesley C. Becker. Few studies have been conducted on teaching styles, two of the instruction
models that are used today is direct–instruction and lecture–instruction models. Schwerdt and
Wuppermann (2011) suggest that few rigorous studies look inside the classroom to see what kinds

An Academic Critique Of A Research Article By Karen L....
This paper is an academic critique of a research article by Karen L. Gischlar and Joanne P. Vesay
entitled: Literacy Curricula and Assessment: A Survey of Early Childhood Educators in two States. I
was attracted to this article because being an early educator myself, I know how important literacy
instructions is in the early years. It intrigued me to read about the types of curricula and assessment
used by other educators to assess young children learning. The purpose of the article was to survey
early childhood educators regarding their literacy practices and the assessments implemented in
their classroom. However, the goal was to determine to what extent preschool teachers addressed
literacy skills areas through classroom instructions. (Gischlar & Vesay 2014, p. 298). The authors
believed that teachers should be using literacy curricula to teach literacy skills and get proper
training in how to monitor students' progress. If such curricula are not being implemented, then
explicit instructions in early literacy instruction should be conducted daily. This paper will provide a
critical review of the methods used, the result of the study and the authors discussion of the article.
In the article, the authors stress the importance of literacy education in the early years. In fact, it is
noted that pre–school years are critical to the development of early literacy skills that will lay the
foundation for future reading skills and help present problems from developing (Gischlar &

Priority List for Implementing Supervision Instructional...
The instructional leader must be skillful, effective, and flexible with all instructional supervision
strategies. An enlightened leader provides constructive feedbacks that improve instruction, and
ultimately, student performance; and leads a team of educators to reach their highest potential.
Based on my study of the different strategies, the following is the order of my priority: Critical
Friends Group, Standards–Based Walk–Through, Peer Coaching, Mentoring, Peer Assessment,
Clinical Supervision, Portfolio Assessment, and Action Research. The criteria used to determine
rank of the supervision strategies was the amount of colleague support provided to encourage
instructional change. The list ranks from effective strategies collaborating ... Show more content on

This is a valuable opportunity for teachers to learn from teachers, reflect, question, support, and
share knowledge. The invaluable process needs to increase professional growth.
Limitations:
Although there are more reasons why Standards–Based Walk–Through is an effective approach
there, is one flaw that stands out as a concern of mine. Colleagues do not get the opportunity to
observe the students in active learning. Unfortunately, this approach only allows the team of
teachers to see the end outcomes and rely on how the teachers' reflection of the activities presented
during the walk–through.
Mentoring, Peer Coaching and Peer Assessment:
These three effective supervision strategies are remarkably similar in the sense of gaining new ideas
from colleagues, non judgmental and no evaluations to complete. Simply, teachers helping teachers
and both parties involved may improve teaching ability. The strength is in the teacher–to–teacher
interaction of all three of these approaches to push thinking forward which will assist in the
improvement of teaching.
Limitations:
Unfortunately, in all three approaches there's slight bias relating to the observer's own beliefs about
teaching.
Clinical Supervision:
This process respects teachers and builds relationships between leader and teacher. Together, leader
and teacher establish the purpose for the observation and determine how the leader can assist with
supporting the responsible professional. The instructional

Reading Reflection
Introduction Of all the topics covered thus far in my coursework at National University, I found the
readings in differentiated education to be of the greatest practical value. This is because I teach
middle school in a school where learning–disabled students are included in regular classes. In my
classroom, I employ various Google products (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Classroom, and
associated add–ons including Easy Bib, Speech Recognition, Select and Speak, etc). I also use
SeeSaw (where students create digital journals) and Adobe Spark (which allows students to make
educational videos) to help me with differentiation. Through trial and error, I have found these
technological products invaluable as assistants for teaching learning disabled (and gifted) students.
The material in this unit gives me the theoretical understanding and guidance I need to better
differentiate instruction across the curriculum, with or without the use of technology.
The Iris Center Readings In my Language Arts and History classes, there are predictable groups of
students who finish tasks early or late, while the bulk of the students finish at the same rate. For the
most part, the early finishers are gifted students who are hungry for a challenge which goes beyond
the regular assignment. Many of my slow finishers are also learning disabled; they often struggle
with reading comprehension and/or writing. The Iris reading's discussion of flexible groupings,

Promoting diversity and equality in education is essential both for teachers and for students. The
main goal of holistic learning is to create a classroom environment where each student can thrive in
learning as well as understand that the individual characteristics are meant to make people unique
and not different. This means creating a classroom environment that is inclusive of all learners. A
teacher should design an environment that pays attention to the needs of students from diverse
backgrounds including learning and assessment process that ensures that every student is given
consideration in terms of accessibility and inclusivity. A diverse learning environment must also

are also charts to help students identify emotions as well as different travel forms of going home. In
total, there are more than 30 different props that this teacher incorporated in her classroom to
enhance student comprehension.
Materials and Equipment
There are numerous learning materials and equipment that are available in this classroom. The
normal materials such as desks, chairs, glue, writing materials and reading materials are well
arranged and organized through the classroom. There are more books for reading more than any
other types in the classroom. There are also numerous plastic baskets that are used to hold the books
so as to ensure that they remain neat and readable all through. In total, there are 10 baskets to hold
the different reading books in the classroom. Other books visible include mathematical practice
books, and science books. There are also files for every student in the classroom displayed in one
corner of the classroom.
Other materials visible in the class include a clock placed on your way out, just on top of the door.

Compare Reduced Instruction Set Computer (CISC And Cisc
Compare and contrast reduced instruction set computer (RISC) with the complex Instruction set
computer(CISC) [20]
Definitions:
(CISC) The term CISC (Complex Instruction Set Computer or Computing) refers to computers
designed with a full set of computer instructions that were intended to provide needed capabilities in
the most efficient way. Later, it was discovered that, by reducing the full set to only the most
frequently used instructions, the computer would get more work done in a shorter amount of time
for most applications. Since this was called reduced instruction set computing (RISC), there was
now a need to have something to call full–set instruction computers – thus, the term CISC.
These complex instruction set computer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since each instruction type that a computer must perform requires additional transistors and
circuitry, a larger list or set of computer instructions tends to make the microprocessor more
complicated and slower in operation.
Most RISC designs use uniform instruction length for almost all instructions, and employ strictly
separate load/store–instructions.
Throughout the years various suggestions have been made regarding a precise definition of RISC,
but the general concept is that of a system that uses a really small, highly optimized set of
instructions, rather than a more versatile set of instructions often found in other types of
architectures like C.I.S.C, another common trait is that RISC systems use the load/store architecture,
which is where memory is normally accessed only through certain specific instructions, rather than
accessed as part of other instructions like

Training Program For A Jrotc Instructor
When working as a JROTC instructor there are many steps in which an instructor must take in order
to be a JROTC instructor. There are many certifications that they must go through before even being
considered for the job. They must have military experience at a certain rank, they must also pass
many requirements that they would normally pass in a military unit. The must show the ability to
train others without having to treat students like they are in the military. For some career Soldiers
they may be hard to complete. You must have a lot of patience when dealing with high school
students. They are not very disciplined and don't really have a lot of life experiences like a Soldier
normally does. I will describe the type of training program of a JROTC instructor must go through

Reserve Officers ' Training Corps instructors provide college and high school students training in
the subjects and skills they will need to become commissioned officers in the armed forces. These
subjects include leadership, critical thinking and military science.

What Is Differentiation Of Instruction?
1. What is differentiation of instruction?
The biggest mistake of past centuries in teaching has been to treat all children as if they were
variants of the same individual and thus to feel justified in teaching them all the same subjects in the
same way.
–Howard Gardner
Differentiation instruction is whenever a teacher reaches out to an individual or small group to vary
his or her teaching in order to create the best learning experiences. It is modified instruction that
helps students with diverse academic needs and learning styles master the same challenging
academic content. Differentiation is providing multiple options for taking in and making sense of
information and a means of expressing learning.
Teachers can differentiate four classroom elements based on student readiness, interest, or learning
profile. These elements include: Content– what the student needs to learn. Some examples of
differentiating content can include using reading materials at varying readability levels, putting text
on tape and presenting ideas through auditory and visual means. Process– activities in which the
student engages in order to master the content. Some examples of differentiating process include
using tiered activities, providing interest centers and developing personal agendas. Products–
projects that ask the student to rehearse, apply, and extend what he or she has learned. Some
examples of differentiating product include giving students options of how to express what they

Parametric Designs on Montgomery Modular Multiplier
In this paper I have used a technology – independent parametric model for hardware design to
capture the performance variations in terms of area and throughput with the number of pipeline
stages and replications. Hardware design are based on Montgomery Modular Multiplier design with
variable pipeline stages and replication. In this paper we use a general form of algorithms consisting
a loop with loop carried dependencies from one iteration to next iteration to map on parametric
hardware design with pipelining and replication features. We have used an optimization process
depend on this pipelined model, and this optimization process apply on to a Montgomery multiplier
implementation on a Xilinx XC5VLX50T FPGA with 100 Mhz clock frequency. I have used Verilog
– HDL to implement and validate these designs. Our optimization goal is speed and optimization
effort is normal in synthesis properties. For power analysis Xilinx Power Analyzer (XPA) is used
which gives the accurate total power for devices for different pipelining and replication values 

Differentiated Instruction
Differentiated instruction helps to alleviate the complication of instructing multiple learning
modalities and plan for all students in one simple lesson plan. How does it work? What are the
recommended instructional strategies? In the article, 'Creating Lesson Plans for all Learners' the
authors give an example of how to plan using differentiated instruction. Their lesson plan format
includes: 1) State the objective of the lesson; 2) State the learner focus of the lesson; 3) Include
activities that will enable the students to get engaged and interact; 4) State a closure summary i.e.
overview of the lesson; 5) State any lesson extensions such as any follow–up activities; 6) Include
independent practice activities; 7) Include an evaluation format; 8) Reteach lesson in future lessons
(reiteration and confirmation that lesson was understood by students). In another article, 'Teacher
Learning through Self–Regulation', the focus is on the teacher being able to regulate themselves
(Katie Tricarico, Diane Yendol–Hoppey, 2012). Self–regulation is a big part of integration and
programming for differentiated instruction and can be defined as concerning itself with a teacher's
conscious goal–setting and proactive stance towards making a change in the classroom (Katie

fixed architecture and are typically RISC and cost more than micro program because of the time
required to design the circuits , but they are faster. Micro program control units are slower than
hardwired but are easier and cheaper to implement as the instructions are stored in special control
memory. The control unit controls all data going in, out and inside the CPU. The control unit

In The Description Of The Hack Machine Language In Chapter 4
Q1. In the description of the Hack machine language in chapter 4, it is stated that in well–written
programs a C–instruction that may cause a jump should not contain a reference to M, and vice
versa. Discuss why this should be avoided.
In order to access the value of M in a C instruction, the A register is used to contain a pointer /
address of the location of the value of M, in memory (RAM). In a jump instruction, the A register is
used to contain the pointer / address of the next C instruction in the instruction ROM, should the
jump be triggered (Nisan Schocken, 2005, p. 69)

This interrupt takes the form of a memory address of code needed to handle the interrupt (in this
case print a file). Alternatively a simple pulse can be sent over the signal line. This results in
additional processing for the CPU prior to step 4 to pole the devices and find the one responsible. In
this case the device id becomes a pointer to an array containing the address of the event handler for
that device (Zaks,1980, p. 506).
3. When the CPU receives the interrupt it suspends processing and saves off all data and registers
associated with it's current processing tasks.
4. The CPU then loads the first line of the event handling code and sends the required data to print
following the event code instructions.
5. When the processing is complete the CPU reloads the previously suspended program's
registers/commands/data, and processing continues from where it left off.
This is a basic view of standard interrupt handling. Additional or alternative solutions continue to be
developed and added across many different platforms. Here are some additional approaches.
Concurrent Events: Since it takes time to process an event, other events may stack up. In this case a
software stack using push and pop is often used to track events. Alternatively where few events are
expected and speed is of essence a hardware stacks using registers could be used to accomplish the
same task.
Event Priorities: Some systems might

Explicit Instruction

  • 1. Explicit Instruction Explicit instruction refers to task–specific, teacher–led instruction that overtly demonstrates how to complete a task and can be used to teach students both basic and higher–order reading skills. Elements of explicit teaching include setting and articulating learning goals, illustrating or modeling how to complete a task, and assessing student understanding and ability to complete the task independently. The routines and consistent language used in explicit teaching provide ELLs clear, specific, and easy–to–follow procedures as they learn not only a new skill or strategy but also the language associated with it. Explicit skill instruction has been shown to be effective with ELLs who are in the beginning stages of learning to decode English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Essay on Tone and Imagery in The School Children Tone and Imagery in The School Children Louise Gluck's The School Children may provide some shock for readers as it twists and turns through a school day marked by eerie abnormalities. Gluck successfully uses visual imagery to convey a deeper meaning to a fourteen–line poem about children, teachers and parents. These three groups come to life through the descriptive poem that allows readers to form their own conclusions. Though Gluck's meaning is never clearly stated, her use of tone and imagery create an extremely visual work with three dynamic sets of characters. Gluck continuously presents the schoolchildren as simple, orderly creatures. She portrays them as heading to school with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The teachers are described in only one other line in the remainder of the poem. In line ten, near the work s conclusion, Gluck writes, And the teachers shall instruct them in silence (10). This line obviously leaves itself open to multiple interpretations. Can readers conclude that the teachers are instructing the schoolchildren how to be silent? Surely it is believable that the faculty created by Gluck would be teaching a set of students neatly arranged as if they were stuffed dolls to continue to be silent. Others could view the description as implying that it is the teachers themselves who are silent in addition to being motionless throughout the poem. It would not be challenging to view the irony in a cast of teachers who are silent and possibly unable to instruct. Gluck's final set of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of Teaching Situation : Procedure Analysis of Teaching Situation Procedure The main teaching strategy used was direct instruction. Part One – Recap of addition and revision of previous knowledge Class started by referring back to what was taught previously. The teacher went through some simple summation questions (e.g. 2+2+2+3) with the student, recapping the method of addition – "Doubles", "Near Doubles" (i.e. 2+2=4 and 2+3=2+2+1 and 4+5 is a "Near Doubles" pair again). Part Two – Building up to the topic Then teacher then went through one activity of finding patterns (see Figure 1). Part Three – Introducing the Ant problem After refreshing the idea of patterns, the teacher distributed a problem to all students and asked them to work through individually. Then Question was: Tom counted 3 ants in the ant house on Tuesday, and every day after, there appear to be two more ants in the ant house, find how many ants there will be on Sunday when Tom Counted. Part Four – Working through the question The students were allowed 20 minutes to work individually without assistance from the teacher, then called together for the teacher to go through the question. Part Five – Further practice Students split up again to work on finding the number of ants till the next Thursday. When most students managed to grasp the concept, the teacher called the students back and recapped the methodology. Class ended with a quick summary of the problem and the evaluation of the behaviour of the student. Positive Factors of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Reflection Of School : My Experience In The Classroom The School My practicum placement school is small and in an older building within a small town. According to my clinical supervisor, the majority of students are Caucasian and more than half receive free lunch. The administrative staff seems highly focused on literacy and test scores, but have not seen good results in the past. The teachers often voice concerns over the lack of support from the administration. The Classroom The Kindergarten inclusion classroom, I observed, is on the backside of the school. The classroom is surrounded by other Kindergarten classrooms. There are fifteen students total, six of which are identified, by the teacher, as advanced. These students are currently working on at least a 2nd grade level. She considers another seven students to be higher than average. These students are currently 3–6 months ahead academically. Within the classroom, there are two students considered in the low group, one of which is identified under special education guidelines. The lead teacher has been teaching Kindergarten for fourteen years and appears emotionally invested her students' successes. There is also a full–time paraprofessional, who has worked with the lead teacher for the past four years. The students have been using laptops since the beginning of the year to play educational games and complete assessments. Students have just received their own iPads this past week and are already beginning to work with them on occasion. The classroom has an overall cluttered and disorganized feel. It is not overly filled with bulletin boards or extreme decorations. However, the teachers often toss supplies around haphazardly. They clip random worksheets, directions, and materials to the board, often in an attempt to find them a quick, temporary home. Activities I observed the inclusion classroom multiple times and noticed that the activities are largely centers based. One math center involved counting on using a giant number line on the floor. Another asked that students compose and decompose numbers on a worksheet. Meanwhile, another small group worked with the lead teacher using their iPads to answer prompts about greater than and less than. Literacy activities most often followed the same center ... • 7. What Is The Tone Of The Girl By Jamaica Kincaid The "Girl" is a poem that was written by Jamaica Kincaid. The poem depicts a mother instructing her daughter of what to do, and how to do it. As stated in the poem the child was being instructed on how to buy cotton which shows that the person receiving the instruction is a girl, "buying cotton to make a nice blouse," shows females attributes and qualities. As quoted, "iron your father's khaki shirt so that it doesn't have a crease," shows that it is a mother speaking. The tone of the poem is one of denial, because of the instruction in which the mother was giving to the daughter. As stated, "always eat your food... turn someone else's stomach;" and tone is throughout the poem. The instructive lessons that are outlined in the text for example, "how to wash the clothes, how to smile at someone you like, and how to set the table." Shows that the girl does not know how to do things in the right way or what is pleasing to the mother's approval. In Girl the mother is trying to teach the daughter manners including how to smile to people even if you do not like that person and how to set the table. The mother in the poem seems like a perfectionist who wants things done in a specify way to meet not only the persons who is doing the specific duty but it should also meet the approval of ... • 9. Classroom Comprehension : Building Comprehension Skills Building Comprehension Skills Brittany Cronin COE 501–Introduction to Research and Evaluation in Education Fall B 2014 Dr. Ray Ostos Building Comprehension Skills Walk into any school and you will hear the word comprehension. Comprehending text is a necessity for all students in all grade levels as well as individuals entering college and beyond. With the launch of the Common Core State Standards, students need to be able to show their comprehension of text numerous ways, and if the students do not have strategies and skills in place to comprehend a text, their future schooling will prove to be most difficult. Each year in my classroom, a number of students do not have any comprehension ability and fall far behind their classmates. Comprehending a text is what real readers do when they are reading. Routledge (2011) states, "Skilled readers are those who actively and automatically construct meaning as they read; they are self–motivated and self– directed; they monitor their own comprehension by questioning, reviewing, revising, and rereading to enhance their overall comprehension." Students should be able to approach any content area, any article, book, and menu, really anything at all to understand and make meaning of what they are reading. Some students need extra help comprehending text and as educators, instructional strategies should be implemented to help all students succeed. The purpose of this literature review is to name three instructional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Evaluation Of A Training On Embedded Instruction Recruited teachers will be randomly assigned to one of three conditions. Participants in the first condition will receive continued coaching on embedded instruction. Teachers in this condition will receive training by their coach for one hour per week, be observed by their coach one hour per week, and will receive feedback through email or phone call. Teachers in the second condition will attend two six–hour long workshops on embedded instruction and will not have continued contact with an embedded instruction coach. Finally, teachers in the third condition will not receive training on embedded instruction and will serve as a control group. Data will be collected from these teachers at four time points. (T1) Data will be collected for the first time point four–weeks after school begins to provide teachers with time to become familiar with their students' behaviors so that they can identify target children with challenging behaviors. T1 will serve as a baseline measure, as no teachers will have received embedded instruction coaching or training. (T2) Next, data will be collected before students leave for winter break, preferably two–weeks before break begins to avoid data collection too close to the holidays which could lead to distractions. • 13. Universal Design For Learning Programs Introduction The idea of a Universal Design was originally based in architecture design of the 1970s by Ron Mace (King – Sears, 2009). The concept grew from the idea of building design that would meet the universal needs of all people by removing barriers. Cut ramps in sidewalks for wheelchairs, door handles rather than knobs, and other accommodations that removed barriers to access and unrestricting flow for all possible visitors, etc. Growing from this universal design notion stemmed the idea of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Thus, in a UDL learning environment, it is an environment unimpeded for all learners regardless of any disability or label such as LD or ELL. The Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) purports in their 2011 document "Universal Design for Learning Guidelines version 2.0", that such learning environments should center on the "How" of learning examining strategic differentiated learning for the classroom; the "What" of learning with the wide range of assessment options available to teachers and students; and the "Why" of learning providing the purpose of learning and engagement in the learning process. UDL Examining a review of some of the literature regarding UDL and the various website resources, especially the CAST website, I found that a UDL system is not a learning system that can be adopted and implemented to help instruction of students with a specific disability. • 14. A Research Study On Student Performance Essay Methodology In this study there are several participants, six teachers and around 350 students. The data being analyzed consists of three different points of data that enables the research to be more reliable and provides a more accurate view of student performance in the classes with direct instruction as the method of teaching, and classes where the teacher utilizes hands–on instruction as their primary method of teaching. To conduct this research, there have been six teachers selected from Mena Middle School. Two of the teachers are novice teachers, having less than three years experience in the classroom. Two of the teachers are experienced teachers having more than three, but less than twenty years in the classroom. The last two teachers are veteran teachers. They have at least twenty years of experience in the classroom, and often have a set way of teaching that does not very much from year to year. These six teachers teach in the tested areas of Literacy, Math, and Science. Next, three other teachers have agreed to observe each of these classes once a quarter through the year. They are to take explicit notes over what they see in the classroom, this includes on–task and off–task behavior, disruptive behavior, student engagement, teacher–student interaction, and student–student interaction. This information is then converted into numerical data in which they identify the percentage of students performing each of the previously listed behaviors. This data is ... He wrote several categories of books. He is a member of the Latino Literature Hall of Fame. When he was a child, he lived in neighbor where there was racial discrimination. His mom was a segregationist, so she abandoned him to live with his father. His father wanted to teach him to be a real man. However, his instructions were too aggressive. Therefore, learning something quickly from critical situations, forcing kids to do some dislikes to stop crying, enhancing patience from facing injuries, and being a bad model for kids are too offensive to instruct kids to be a real man. To instruct children to be able to do something rapidly by practicing in a dangerous situation does not mean to be a real man. Parents might let their children learn how to train some abilities by themselves, but parents should not teach their children in a dangerous situation because children cannot help themselves yet. For instance, Luis's dad teaches him how to ride a bike like a real man. He removes training wheels and tells Luis to ride a bike on the road, which many cars are driving. Luis falls down on the road with blood on his arm, and a driver honks a horn. This might be Luis's luckiness that the car does not hit him. A critical situation cannot prove to be a real man. His father may misunderstand that practicing in a terrible situation is what a real man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Middle School Is A Period Of Transition For Adolescents Middle school is a period of transition for adolescents. Students are no longer the children were once were in elementary school; they are beginning to mature into the adults they will need to become. Gifted learners at the middle–school level face the same developmental and tasks tasks and challenges that their peers do. Yet, gifted learners also possess traits that are different from their peers, which often make them misunderstood or ignored. The need for teachers to identify these students and differentiate instruction in a way that addresses the needs of the gifted students in the classroom is becoming more crucial than ever. At times, being labeled as a gifted student can be a burden for the student with that label. The Association for Middle Level Educators found, "research indicates that many gifted students deliberately fail tests or fail to do homework so that they don't appear to be too smart" (Payne, 2013, p. 15). The need for acceptance at this point in students' lives outdoes the will to achieve higher than their classmates. It is common in a middle school classroom to see students choosing to have friends over excelling academically (Payne, 2013). Judy Willis, an Edutopia blogger , "asserts that appropriately challenging tasks are necessary for cognitive growth; if a task is too easy, ' . . . the brain is not alert for feedback and there is no activation of the dopamine reward response system'" (cited in Doubet, 2013, p. 10). • 17. Essay On Personal Reflection My personal reflection It has been my first experience to observe a lesson in a school setting since I arrived in the U.S. All I have seen in this mainstream classroom seemed to leave positive impressions about the interactions between the teacher and students. As a teacher, most of the instructional strategies carried out during the lesson were quite familiar, others were quasi new for me for the fact that the context I am used to is far different from this one I have observed. It is commonly agreed that teaching and learning have general principles shared worldwide that any teacher can adjust him/herself to any learning environments. However, the context in which those principles are applied makes a big difference in ways students with culturally and linguistically diversity receive an instruction. During the class observation, some relevant aspects called my attentions. These aspects included all instructions provided, the learning setting, student's behavior and discipline, and teacher's expectations. Instructions are essential tools employed to provide guidance and directions to what students are expected to perform and be able to bolster skills and acquire a body of knowledge. Although the majority population of students was Spanish speakers, English was used as the language of instruction. Students received all instructions in English, and Spanish was used to help LEP students understand clearly the activity and the meaning of words. It was clear that the teacher applied sheltered instruction. According to Goldenberg and Coleman (2010) sheltered instruction consists of several strategies and techniques employed to assist ELLs learn academic content regardless of their proficiency in English. For the vocabulary test, teacher used verbal cues by applying the use of certain expressions such as "I need you to look at the list", "please grab your sheet of paper", "Listen to me not to your mates", "Who's with me?" to ensure that students were on the same track and paid sufficient attention to what was being instructed. Banikowiski (1999) state that cues either verbal "words" or nonverbal "sounds" are necessary to engage students' attention that there is upcoming information. Teacher and students used a ... What she is teaching us is that differentiated learning has come a long way from where it once started, what should be taken away is that it can only get better from where it started. Technology has a big part to do with that. Technology has quickly become one of the main resources for many schools across the country and world. It gives students with learning disabilities a variety of options to learn, study, and practice in the classroom and outside of the classroom depending on the school's accessibility of technology. In one article called "Embedded Supports to Differentiate Instruction for Struggling Students" written by Alise Bran, she talks about using technology in the classroom. She says, "The use of embedded or readily available digital learning supports and tools has been shown to be an effective way of addressing the needs of diverse students, particularly those with disabilities. For many students who struggle with reading or writing, the act of decoding, or puzzling out correct spelling, requires significant effort. Built–in tools that provide just–in–time supports relieve the cognitive load on students, allowing them to focus more of their attention on comprehension or generating written content," (Bran 2012). These characteristics include: Safety: Students know that they are physically safe and that they are not in danger in the classroom. Safety also includes students emotional and mental well–being, meaning that they will be free from emotional damage such as bulling or name– calling. Respect: The classroom environment is one were respect is a two–way street. In this classroom students respect the teacher and teacher other, while the teacher shows respect to each of the students. Any differences that students have from one another are respected and dealt will appropriately so that students feel safe and welcomed into the classroom community. High Expectations: In a community of learners, expectations are set by the teacher and are something that students must work for. Students understand that the expectations are achievable but will require hard work. These expectations go beyond academics and include student behavior. Risk Taking: Teachers promote trying new things and introduce students to new ideas and activities. Students are encouraged to take risks and gain a higher level of thinking. Collaboration: In a community of learners, students work together in teams, partners, or groups. This allows students to gain social skills and increases students' motivation for the project. Students are different, just like people are different. There are many varied groups of students in one classroom. Differentiated instruction is a process for teaching and learning for students of differing abilities in the same class (Hall et al., 2011). The intent of differentiating instruction is to maximize each student's growth, and individual success by meeting each student where he or she is, and assisting in the learning process (Hall et al., 2011). Instruction is differentiated in classrooms through content, process, products, and learning environment. Teachers must adapt curriculum and lesson planning to meet ... Breaking down the old notion that specific areas of the brain are responsible for specific assigned tasks has been replaced by the idea of neuroplasticity and the brains ability to adapt and change throughout life. The relevance of this science is one that would support the idea that music making enhances the growth and maturation of all types of cognitive functions. These functions include memory, learning, listening, and literacy. Lindseys statement, merely hits the surface of Direct–Instruction since it is best for learning specific concepts and/or skills. Vesay entitled: Literacy Curricula and Assessment: A Survey of Early Childhood Educators in two States. I was attracted to this article because being an early educator myself, I know how important literacy instructions is in the early years. It intrigued me to read about the types of curricula and assessment used by other educators to assess young children learning. The purpose of the article was to survey early childhood educators regarding their literacy practices and the assessments implemented in their classroom. However, the goal was to determine to what extent preschool teachers addressed literacy skills areas through classroom instructions. (Gischlar & Vesay 2014, p. 298). The authors believed that teachers should be using literacy curricula to teach literacy skills and get proper training in how to monitor students' progress. If such curricula are not being implemented, then explicit instructions in early literacy instruction should be conducted daily. This paper will provide a critical review of the methods used, the result of the study and the authors discussion of the article. In the article, the authors stress the importance of literacy education in the early years. In fact, it is noted that pre–school years are critical to the development of early literacy skills that will lay the foundation for future reading skills and help present problems from developing (Gischlar & ... This is because I teach middle school in a school where learning–disabled students are included in regular classes. In my classroom, I employ various Google products (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Classroom, and associated add–ons including Easy Bib, Speech Recognition, Select and Speak, etc). I also use SeeSaw (where students create digital journals) and Adobe Spark (which allows students to make educational videos) to help me with differentiation. • 35. Training Program For A Jrotc Instructor When working as a JROTC instructor there are many steps in which an instructor must take in order to be a JROTC instructor. There are many certifications that they must go through before even being considered for the job. They must have military experience at a certain rank, they must also pass many requirements that they would normally pass in a military unit. The must show the ability to train others without having to treat students like they are in the military. For some career Soldiers they may be hard to complete. You must have a lot of patience when dealing with high school students. They are not very disciplined and don't really have a lot of life experiences like a Soldier normally does. I will describe the type of training program of a JROTC instructor must go through and continuously do throughout their time as a JROTC instructor. 1. Job Description: Reserve Officers ' Training Corps instructors provide college and high school students training in the subjects and skills they will need to become commissioned officers in the armed forces. These subjects include leadership, critical thinking and military science. 2. Job Competencies: –Have at least 20 years Active Federal Service –Retired 3 years or less –Meet Army/AJROTC height/weight/body fat standards –High standards of military bearing, appearance and moral character –No military or civilian adverse actions, (i.e. Article 15's, Letter of Reprimand, DUI's or other adverse/negative actions) –If still on ... • 36. What Is Differentiation Of Instruction? 1. What is differentiation of instruction? The biggest mistake of past centuries in teaching has been to treat all children as if they were variants of the same individual and thus to feel justified in teaching them all the same subjects in the same way. –Howard Gardner Differentiation instruction is whenever a teacher reaches out to an individual or small group to vary his or her teaching in order to create the best learning experiences. It is modified instruction that helps students with diverse academic needs and learning styles master the same challenging academic content. Differentiation is providing multiple options for taking in and making sense of information and a means of expressing learning. Teachers can differentiate four classroom elements based on student readiness, interest, or learning profile. These elements include: Content– what the student needs to learn. Some examples of differentiating content can include using reading materials at varying readability levels, putting text on tape and presenting ideas through auditory and visual means. Process– activities in which the student engages in order to master the content. Some examples of differentiating process include using tiered activities, providing interest centers and developing personal agendas. Products– projects that ask the student to rehearse, apply, and extend what he or she has learned. Some examples of differentiating product include giving students options of how to express what they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Parametric Designs on Montgomery Modular Multiplier In this paper I have used a technology – independent parametric model for hardware design to capture the performance variations in terms of area and throughput with the number of pipeline stages and replications. Hardware design are based on Montgomery Modular Multiplier design with variable pipeline stages and replication. In this paper we use a general form of algorithms consisting a loop with loop carried dependencies from one iteration to next iteration to map on parametric hardware design with pipelining and replication features. We have used an optimization process depend on this pipelined model, and this optimization process apply on to a Montgomery multiplier implementation on a Xilinx XC5VLX50T FPGA with 100 Mhz clock frequency. I have used Verilog – HDL to implement and validate these designs. Our optimization goal is speed and optimization effort is normal in synthesis properties. For power analysis Xilinx Power Analyzer (XPA) is used which gives the accurate total power for devices for different pipelining and replication values  Montgomery multiplier, Modular multiplication, Design space exploration, field programmable gate array (FPGA), hardware mapping.  Hardware designers are constantly working to improve circuit performance in an attempt to outdo their competitors and satisfy consumers. Throughput is the average number of instructions that can be processed by a microprocessor in a given time. Pipelining is an optimization technique used ubiquitously ... • 38. Differentiated Instruction Differentiated instruction helps to alleviate the complication of instructing multiple learning modalities and plan for all students in one simple lesson plan. How does it work? What are the recommended instructional strategies? In the article, 'Creating Lesson Plans for all Learners' the authors give an example of how to plan using differentiated instruction. Their lesson plan format includes: 1) State the objective of the lesson; 2) State the learner focus of the lesson; 3) Include activities that will enable the students to get engaged and interact; 4) State a closure summary i.e. overview of the lesson; 5) State any lesson extensions such as any follow–up activities; 6) Include independent practice activities; 7) Include an evaluation format; 8) Reteach lesson in future lessons (reiteration and confirmation that lesson was understood by students). In another article, 'Teacher Learning through Self–Regulation', the focus is on the teacher being able to regulate themselves (Katie Tricarico, Diane Yendol–Hoppey, 2012). Self–regulation is a big part of integration and programming for differentiated instruction and can be defined as concerning itself with a teacher's conscious goal–setting and proactive stance towards making a change in the classroom (Katie Tricarico, Diane Yendol–Hoppey, 2012). It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. Nt1310 Unit 3 Control Unit Analysis Task 1 The Control Unit There are two types of control unit which are hardwired and micro program where hardwired are for fixed architecture and are typically RISC and cost more than micro program because of the time required to design the circuits , but they are faster. Micro program control units are slower than hardwired but are easier and cheaper to implement as the instructions are stored in special control memory. The control unit controls all data going in, out and inside the CPU. The control unit decodes the data from ram and turns it into an instruction depending on what instruction set the control unit is programed or hardwired to have. Then if the instruction involves any logic or mathamatical caluculations it gets sent to the alu ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. In The Description Of The Hack Machine Language In Chapter 4 Q1. In the description of the Hack machine language in chapter 4, it is stated that in well–written programs a C–instruction that may cause a jump should not contain a reference to M, and vice versa. Discuss why this should be avoided. In order to access the value of M in a C instruction, the A register is used to contain a pointer / address of the location of the value of M, in memory (RAM). In a jump instruction, the A register is used to contain the pointer / address of the next C instruction in the instruction ROM, should the jump be triggered (Nisan Schocken, 2005, p. 69) @10 Set A equal to 10. M:JEQ If the value of M at address A (10) in the data RAM) is equal to 0 then Jump to the C instruction at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This interrupt takes the form of a memory address of code needed to handle the interrupt (in this case print a file). Alternatively a simple pulse can be sent over the signal line. This results in additional processing for the CPU prior to step 4 to pole the devices and find the one responsible. In this case the device id becomes a pointer to an array containing the address of the event handler for that device (Zaks,1980, p. 506). 3. When the CPU receives the interrupt it suspends processing and saves off all data and registers associated with it's current processing tasks. 4. The CPU then loads the first line of the event handling code and sends the required data to print following the event code instructions. 5. When the processing is complete the CPU reloads the previously suspended program's registers/commands/data, and processing continues from where it left off. This is a basic view of standard interrupt handling. Additional or alternative solutions continue to be developed and added across many different platforms. Here are some additional approaches. Concurrent Events: Since it takes time to process an event, other events may stack up. In this case a software stack using push and pop is often used to track events. Alternatively where few events are expected and speed is of essence a hardware stacks using registers could be used to accomplish the same task. Event Priorities: Some systems might ...
