The O.J. Simpson Case
O.J. Simpson Case O.J. Simpson was the killer. All of the evidence in this trail pointed to him, but he could not be proven guilty. In the trial of O.J.
Simpson, he was found not guilty of the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. The court case of O.J. Simpson was a very
controversial case in its time. It was a controversial case mainly because of the interference from the media. The media gave their opinions on the
case and became so involved that it began to sway the opinions of the jurors and people who watched the case. There were also many other factors
in how the case gained its popularity. O.J Simpson could not be proven guilty because of multiple errors by the prosecuting side and a bad
presentation of evidence. The following will explain O.J. Simpson's life, his murder trial, the problems with the case, and all of the events that
came after his initial murder trial. Prior to the crime, O.J Simpson had a very successful life. Simpson was born on July 9th, 1947 in San Francisco,
California. His full name is Orenthal James Simpson but his nickname was Juice. Simpson grew up in the city of San Francisco and went to Galileo
High school where he was very successful in the football program. He began to gain attention to himself in college football, playing for USC and
winning a Heisman trophy. After Simpson's success in college football, he went on to professional football in the NFL. In 1979, he retired from
football and took up a career in acting and

Rhetorical Analysis : College Football
Essay 2 (Rhetorical Analysis)
College Football is American Football played by student athletes at universities and colleges around the Nation. In American Football they have a
Quarterback, in most cases, the Quarterback is the leader and focal point of the Football Team. At the University of Florida, they had a guy named Tim
Tebow. Tim Tebow was the Heisman winning and Star Quarterback for the University ofFlorida Gators, but was also well known for his public display
of religious faith on and off the Football Field. On September 27, 2008, the Florida Gators lost a disappointing game against the Ole Miss Rebels;
Where Tim Tebow was stopped 1 yard shy away from giving the Gators a chance to win the game. It was a disappointing loss as the Florida Gators
were expecting an undefeated season, and another shot at College Football's National Championship. After the game at the usual post game
conference, an obvious emotional Tim Tebow talked about the struggles of the game and delivered the famous "I Promise" speech that will be forever
remembered at the University of Florida and College Football history. Tim Tebow's speech empowered and inspired football fans across the nation and
was the reason his team won the National Championship.
Tim Tebow's "I Promise" Speech was at the post game conference following the crucial 31–30 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. The turning point in the
game was a 4th down and 1–yard to gain where Tim Tebow was the ball carrier and was stopped inches

Summary Of Charles Woodson's Wedding Speech-Humorous
Thank you, thank you all very much. Thank you. That's the happiest I have ever seen Charles Woodson since he won the Heisman Trophy back in '97.
I cannot even begin to explain how honored I am to be mentioned in the same breath with some of the most iconic athletes, like Kobe Bryant and
Peyton Manning. This is something that I will treasure for a very long time. I do not have much prepared, however, so I'm going to speak longer
than anybody has spoken tonight. That is the way it goes. Time is very important to me. You never know how much of it you have left, and there are
some things that I would like to say. Hopefully, by the end of this, I will have said something that will inspire all of you here tonight.
People always ask me how is your day, and nothing has changed. As Charles said, I am a very hard–working and passionate man. I cannot help it. That
is being the son of Mufid and Safija Hajric. It comes with a territory. We are committed and work hard.
When people say to me how do you get through each day, it is the same thing. To me, there are three things that we must all strive to do each day.
Number one is to have a feasible dream or goal of some kind. Number two is sacrifice. To attain your goals, you must always sacrifice a little more in
order to reap the benefits later on. Number three is never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What I would like to be able to do is to help other young athletes find their passion and explore it. The Icon Award is a wonderful thing, and I know
that my role within the community is significant. But when I see different statistics that insinuate that many high school athletes will not be able to
pursue their athletic dreams, it breaks my heart. What if I told you that only 7% of all high school athletes will go on to pursue their sport at the
collegiate level. I also told you that 33% quit due to a loss of interest. And yet, we just choose to ignore it. Well, Iwant to bring it back on the front

Do You Consider Yourself A Sports Fanatic?
Do you consider yourself a sports fanatic? More in specific a college football enthusiast, do you know all the players, awards, and college superstars?
Do you watch every game, of every season? Well I can tell you football is such a diverse game with all sorts of plays, players, positions, and awards I
highly doubt you know all of it. One of the biggest, and my favourite, is the Heisman Trophy Award. The Heisman Trophy Award takes the nation 's
best college athletes and compares them to every other college athlete, only few have won from the state of Texas. And if you want to be exact, only 10
from the state of Texas have won the Heisman Trophy. One of the first Heisman winners was Davey O 'Brien in 1938. His full name was Robert David

Mr. Campbell was born into poverty, with 10 other siblings. He was the sixth out of eleven total children, and all of them had many chores and
responsibilities because his parents couldn't keep up with all of them. Campbell's father died when he was 11 years old. His running ability led his
high school, John Tyler, to a 4A state championship in 1973.Campbell had most colleges wanting him, but narrowed it down to five; Oklahoma,
Baylor, Texas, Houston and Arkansas, but ultimately chose the great Texas Longhorns. Campbell played running back for three years, 1974 to 1977.
His freshman year he played in all eleven normal season games, rushing for 928 yards and six touchdowns. Campbell was elected All–American at the
fullback position. Leg injuries kept him out of four games of his junior season. His final year for the Longhorns, as a senior, a game against the Rice
Owls, he scored four touchdowns in a 72–15 blowout. That same college game Longhorn kicker Russell Erxleben set an NCAA record for a 67 yard
field goal. Campbell 's final regular season game he set his career high record for 222 rushing yards and a win over rival, Texas A&M, the score was
57–28. Texas finished their season undefeated, as well as Earl Campbell getting the Heisman Trophy Award. Campbell was the first overall pick in
the 1978 NFL Draft. He was signed by the Houston Oilers for six year, 1.4 million contract. Campbell led the league in his begining season with 1,450

Essay on Coach Bowden
Bobby Bowden began his lifelong love for football at an early age. As a young child he would often climb onto the roof of his house and sit for hours
watching the local high school team run practice drills. Bobby played football while a student at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama and
again in college, first at the University of Alabama and then at Howard College (now Samford University).
Bobby's coaching career began in 1954 as an assistant coach at Howard College. After working as an assistant coach at Howard for two years he was
offered a head coaching position at South Georgia Junior College. Bobby stayed with South Georgia for two years pulling double duty as head coach of
the football team and athletic director. Bobby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Florida State only won four games in a three year stretch before Bowden came along in '76. After taking the reins at Florida State, Bobby immediately
got to work transforming the Seminoles into the team that it is today. Over the years he has recruited many star athletes to come play football for
Florida State including dozens of All–Americans, two Heisman Trophy winners and many star athletes that would also become stars in the NFL.
The 1977 season brought Bobby his best season record to date finishing the season at 10–2 and finally beating in state rival Florida after losing to them
the previous nine seasons. The Seminole squad was gaining much needed national exposure as the media started praising Bobby and his team on their
achievements. Bobby Bowden was named the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year in 1980 and in 1983 and was inducted in the Florida Sports
Hall of Fame.
Over the next decade Bobby Bowden would lead his Seminoles to a post season bowl game every season except 1981. The loss to Oklahoma in the
1981 Orange Bowl would be Bowden's last loss in a bowl game for the next fifteen years. In 1987 Bobby coached his Seminoles to what would be the
first of a 14 year long streak in which they won 10 or more games.
Bobby has coached many star athletes during his tenure as head coach including Florida State's first Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward, Warrick
Dunn, arguably the most popular college football player of the 90s, and Chris Weinke, the

Winston's Stereotypes
His lawyer, John Boudet says the film "manipulates, misstates or simply omits facts to present a false narrative" (Zarroli 1); in response CNN told
the New York Times "CNN is proud to provide a platform for a film that has undeniably played a significant role in advancing the national conversation
about sexual assault on college campuses. "We are confident that both the film and our extensive associated coverage give this important issue the full
and fair treatment it deserves" (Zarroli 1).
Winston also received a large amount of national media coverage due to this issue. Despite the facts, society was siding with Winston due to his
popularity. Also, the case was being kept tightly under wraps as to not tarnish the reputation of FSU or the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to the analysis of the State Attorney's Office's decision stating that Winston would not be charged withrape due to lack of evidence. Mueller
and Kirkpatrick define real evidence as "tangible things directly involved in the transactions or events in litigation" (25) in Evidence Law and the
System. In the case between Winston and Kinsman, an example of real evidence would be the clothes Kinsman was wearing the night of the rape. She
was wearing pink jeans and underwear underneath and Winston's DNA was found in both of these articles of clothing. This finding proves they had
some sexual interaction, but it doesn't prove that the sex was non–consensual. Demonstrative evidence is defined as "tangible proof that in some way
makes graphic the point to be proved" (27). In this case an example of demonstrative evidence could be depictions of the bruises, lacerations and other
minor injuries and body markings that were recorded at her initial visit to the hospital following the rape. Having this graphic could reveal to jurors the
severity of the attack and the aggression that was used against

Michael Vick growing up was always very athletic. He was always the fastest and the best at most of the sports that he played. He went to high
school for two years and played College Football at Virginia Tech, where as a freshman he placed third in the Heisman Trophy balloting. He left after
his sophomore year to enter the NFL and was drafted first overall by the Falcons in the 2001 draft, the first African–American quarterback ever to be
taken first overall. In six seasons with the Falcons, he gained wide popularity for his performance on the field, and led the Falcons to the playoffs
twice. During his tenure with Atlanta, Vick was selected to three Pro–Bowls. The Atlanta Falcons made him the first player selected. Vick became the

anyone to run or watch a chicken or dogfight.
The Second law Michael Vick helped pass was the law that doesn't allow to dog owners to leave their dogs in a in 32 degrees fahrenheit and lower

How Did The Oj Simpson Solve The Justice System
Cases like the O.J Simpson murder case prove that the U.S. justice system is flawed. There was a racial divide in the jury that made it near
impossible for the prosecution to win even before the case started. The Defence tried to distract the jury from the evidence by focussing their
attention on racism. In addition, the so called entertainment of the case became more important than the murder of a helpless wife and a person
who did the wrong thing and was punished anyway. This case and many other cases like the Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox validate that the
American justice system is bias and glitched. One of the reasons that the U.S. justice system is flawed is because there are often racial divides
within the jury. The O.J. Simpson murder trial is a perfect example of this. Of the 12 jurors, only two jurors were white. The other ten jurors were
either black or biracial. As Jeffrey Toobin states in his book The Run of His Life, "Caucasians.. Say I can't vote him not guilty..because I want to
walk back into a life, Blacks ... say I can't vote him guilty...because I want to walk back into a life." How could a man be not guilty when there is a,
"1 in 170 million(chance) that the blood came from anyone other than Simpson"? The evidence alone should have proved him guilty, but the jurors
were brainwashed. As Toobin explains, "race had trumped gender" as the main bias in court cases. Jurors felt that they were obliged to vote a
certain way based on the color of their skin. Black jurors felt that they had to vote him not innocent, because they had to show their solidarity with the
black community. As Christopher Darden reports in his book In Contempt, " There were jurors and alternates who would never convict O.J. Simpson
of murder". They felt like they had to vote him not guilty, no matter if they thought he was actually guilty or not. The "overwhelming evidence" was
barely even part of the case, race had had become the center of attention. Peer pressure from their racial group was the new evidence in the O.J
Simpson case. As I have already mentioned, another factor of the black jurors voting O.J. not guilty is that the defence tried to take the jury's attention
away from the evidence and focus the case on

Sports Heroes: O.J. Simpson and Others Essay
The dictionary definition of a hero is someone who is admired of their achievements or their noble qualities. To me, the definition of a hero is
someone who helps people and is caring. In this world there are so many people mistaken for heroes. One example of a "hero" is O.J. Simpson. O.J
was best known for being the running back of the Buffalo Bills and was nicknamed "The Juice". Although he was a Heisman Trophy winner he was
also a major suspect of a murder case involving his wife and her new boyfriend. Even though all the evidence was there he was found innocent and
never went to jail. OJ Simpson was an amazing football player, but he should be judged by everything he does not just his achievements. One person I

Even when he was treated so badly he was always the kind person in the situation. One quote that always moves me is "An individual has not started
living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity". This quote shows
everything that King fought for. April 4, 1968 was a powerful and sad day. As many of us know this heroes life was cut short after his most famous
speech "I Have A Dream". King was standing outside his hotel room and was murdered by a greedy man. This hero will always be remembered for his
accomplishments and his determination to do the right thing.
Abraham Lincoln is one of America's most recognized heroes. Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States and helped end slavery. Lincoln was
born on February 12, 1809 to two great parents who Lincoln admired. Lincoln grew up a worker and was always helping others. Lincoln was
president during The Civil War. Lincoln wanted slavery to end. Luckily on January 1, 1863 Lincoln signed the proclamation for slaves to be set free
and never be a slave again. Lincoln fits my definition of a hero because he ultimately wanted what was best for the American people. I think that
Lincoln was so brave to be president during the Civil War and not being sucked into what was popular. Lincoln was known for making great quotes,
one of my favorite quotes is "A house divided cannot stand". I think this quote is so

Simpson stated that "The day with Mays made me realize that my dream was possible. Willie wasn't a superhuman. He was an ordinary person, so I

better man and realize that his dream is possible. Simpson and Cowlings joined the football team in high school and were both named to the all–city
team. He led the team in scoring his senior year in high school. Being great on the field Simpson thought he had a greater chance at being recruited
into a college but, his field ability didn't match the academic standards of being accepted into college. Simpson planned on to join the U.S. Army,
but when a friend came back from Vietnam with a leg missing. He then changed his mind instead, he and Cowlings enrolled in City College of San

The Murder Of Nicole Brown
Former NFL Star, Heisman trophy winner, Orenthal James Simpson, better known as O.J. Simpson, has a lengthy history of encounters with law
enforcement. He was incarcerated when he was fifteen for gang related fighting ("O.J. Simpson" Contemporary). In 1989 he pleaded no contest to
beating and threatening to kill Nicole Brown, his wife at the time, and faced minimal consequences (Mydens). In 1995, after a yearlong criminal
trial, he was acquitted of the murder of Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, and later found liable for the murders in a civil case in 1997. His

Nicole had signed a prenuptial agreement prior to their marriage, she still revived a lump sum of $433,750 and $10,000 a month in child support for
their two children. After their divorce they continued to see each other attending high–profile and fundraising events together. Despite spending time
together, the problems still persisted, and Nicole continued to have 911 calls regarding O.J (Turque). On June 12, 1994 Nicole and O.J. both

When people think of Mike Vick they think of a dogfighter, well that's not entirely true he isn't all a dog fighter. Vick is also a great NFL running
quarterback. Michael Dwayne Vick was born in Newport Virginia. He didn't realize the skill that he had until he was in 7th grade. When he went to
high school he was the second best quarterback in Virginia, he was the second because the 1st was Ronald Curry.
When Vick decided he wanted to go to college there only 2 colleges that Vick knew he wanted to go to, those were Syracuse and Virginia Tech
(VT). At the time Vick was deciding to go to VT there was already a man that was in Syracuse and that was Aaron Brooks. So he decided to go to

didn't think that it was wrong because the police didn't do anything about it. And no one really cared about it either. He thought that dog fighting
was fair ok to do. In 2007 Mike Vick went to jail for dog fighting. He was caught by his cousin which was taken to jail for having drugs in his

Essay on College Athletes Should Be Paid
College athletes generate millions of dollars for their schools each year, yet they are not allowed to be compensated beyond a scholarship due to being
considered amateurs. College athletes are some of the hardest working people in the nation, having to focus on both school courses and sports. Because
athletics take so much time, these student–athletes are always busy. College football and basketball are multi–billion dollar businesses. The NCAA
does not want to pay the athletes beyond scholarships, and it would be tough to work a new compensation program into the NCAA and university
budgets. College athletes should be compensated in some form because they put in so much time and effort, generating huge amounts of revenue.

With students spending so much time on athletics, it is reasonable to allow them to be compensated beyond scholarships. College athletics assume a
large role in the entertainment industry of America. Each week, millions of people tune in to watch their favorite team, buy tickets to go to the
games, or spend money on university athletic merchandise to show their pride. The NCAA and universities benefit enormously from college sports.
The top 10 total revenues generated by universities were all well over the $100,000,000 mark in 2012 ("College Finances 2012"). The University of
Texas tops the list with $163,295,115 total revenue from athletics ("College Finances 2012"). Last football season, Texas A&M University
quarterback Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy. As the first freshman to ever win the trophy, he propagated over 1.8 million media impressions
which translated to $37 million of media exposure (Cook). The University's licensing revenue jumped 23% this past year due to the success of one
player (Cook). The NCAA itself generated $871,600,000 in revenue from the championship games ("College Finances 2012"). All of this revenue is
impossible without the student–athletes. The NCAA is strict on making sure that athletes should be treated no different from any other student (Blias).
However, the athletes are involved in a heavily commercialized multi–billion dollar industry. As amateurs, athletes remain restricted solely to

Essay On The Moment Of Happiness In 1988
The year 1988 was filled with a variety mixed emotions. There were moments when people fell into depression from losing their loved ones, but also
moments of happiness because of large achievements that have been reached. Airplane, train, and helicopter crashes played a major role in the
depressing portion of the year, but the death of many famous people and the tropical storms that took place in Rio De Janeiro was also included. Some
of the happier moments from 1988 were when Barry Sander's won the Heisman Trophy during his junior in college, and when scientist found a fossil
that dated back 390 million years ago.
An airplane crashed in southwestern China, killing all 108 passengers on January 18th. The airplane was reported to of crashed at 10:15 P.M.

Collegiate Infractions
The NCAA and its student–athletes deal with much more than are seen by the general public. The coaches and players always have hidden agendas.
Scandals or infractions are committed every year in collegiate sports and are left unnoticed. The NCAA does its best in trying to keep this under
control but have difficulty doing so. Student–Athletes receiving improper benefits and breaking NCAA rules are a common group and information on
these atrocities must be brought to light. The receiving of improper benefits expand over a wide range of topics and areas. All forms of

If an athlete is happy and performs well it reflects well on the coach and helps him to keep his job. Ensuring the athletes play is the greatest goal for
some coaches. Most athletes understand this and in turn start to receive cash and other gifts because they know they can. They begin to feel "entitled
to pay for play" (Matt Ryan 3). The schools do not do much to prevent this from happening though. They don't give extra food to athletes that do more
physical activity than most ordinary students. Neither do they offer more spacious room accommodations to larger athletes that take up more space
than the average student would. An athlete will not always take advantages of their abilities for the cash. Some athletes are in dire need of money to
help themselves and their families. They may come from a low–income household where they were looked to for support. The importance "of an
athlete who was looked upon for support in the family before college" isn't as understood by the NCAA (McMurphy 6). The athletes and programs that
are caught are most–always severely punished. They can be placed on restriction for various things. The most common forms of punishment are "a
reduction of the scholarships allotted [or] post–season banning" (NCAA Compliance 5). Being caught also suspends the athlete from all athletic
involvement. This could devastate the athlete but it is deserved. They would be eligible had they not made the wrong decisions. They

Many football fans believed that he had only switched because he had enough money to and because he was famous enough to do so. One of his

with what he is saying. This whole controversy could become very violent, very fast if it's not resolved soon. Anyone that is involved including Tim
Tebow, Tim Tebow's family, and even football fans could all get seriously injured over the different opinions on TIm Tebow switching.
The switch affected the football community so much because they just lost one of the greatest football players to the New York Mets Minor League
Baseball team. Tim Tebow was awarded theHeisman Trophy in 2007 with the Florida Gators. He also played baseball at Florida as an outfielder and
hit .494. He was phenomenal at both sports but he went with football. Later on, when they tried to get him to switch positions he retired and decided
to play baseball again. The baseball community was ecstatic when he hit a homerun his first at bat in the Minors. Tim Tebow is currently hitting .213
and playing outfield for the Columbia fireflies. His final stats as an NFL quarterback are 17 tds, 9 int, 2,422 yds, and a 75.3

Heisman Trophy In College Football
Around America today football is one of the most favorable sports among men. Football starts off for the youth with pee–wee and pop warner leagues.
Most fathers aspire for their children to be great athletes. It would be a dream for a father's child to be considered the greatest player in college
football. The Heisman Trophy is given to the best player in college football. This award is given to players who show great athletic excellence along
with great character. Most quarterbacks who receive the award normally pass for about 4,000 yards. The famous running back position only needs to
dial up 20 touchdowns along with 1,500 rushing yards to be a top contender for the Heisman Trophy. Most college football players play with a sense of

Having a lot of prior knowledge about football helps you understand the history of some things. John David Crow is the first person that comes to
mind when I think about the Heisman Trophy. Although Crow was a native from Marion in North Louisiana, he found his way west to Springhill. Here
at Springhill High School, he dominated throughout his career setting many records and accomplishing multiple goals. Crow and his fellow
teammates also won a state championship, which was one of two that Springhill holds in football. With a dominating high school campaign such
as Crow had, there was no doubt college coaches from all over the country was trying to sign him up at their university. Being a smart thinker of
football, he decided to go play for the legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant at Texas A&M. To be one of the best, you have to play for one of the best so
you can get in a great system to be successful. John David Crow's senior season at Texas A&M was one that no one could ever forget. He was
superman of the team because he did almost everything. He ran the ball, caught the ball, caught interceptions for opposing offenses, and tackled the
opponents. After the season, Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant stated, "If John David Crow does not win the Heisman Trophy, they ought to stop giving
it."() He was the first aggie to win it and was also the only one of Bryant's players to win it. It does not matter where you are from, anyone can

The Issue Of College Sports Essay
It's Saturday. Everyone is gearing up for the big game. The alumni are out in the parking lot firing up the grills for tailgating. The students are waiting
in long lines to make sure they can get a ticket into the student section. Kids are running into the team store, eagerly looking for their favorite jersey,
or perhaps a cool hat and a foam finger. The concession lines go around the stadium. The stadium is sold out beyond capacity, stuffing people into the
luxury viewing booths and overcharging the seats way up in the nosebleeds, up in the spots where you can hardly see what's happening. After the game
ends, students and families alike head toward the fan shop again, rushing to find something they can get autographed by the star quarterback. Perhaps
one of the biggest facets of the American culture that can't be found anywhere else in the world is the concept of college sports. The United States is
the only country on the globe where students at institutions of higher learning compete in collegiate athletics against each other. Every year, college
sports captivate the entire nation; people want to cheer on their school or alma mater and showcase the pride they have in their program, and
universities look on with glee as they rake in the benefits of such a lucrative market. Here's the catch: the players, the ones who work tirelessly, who
shed blood, sweat, and tears for their schools, don't see any of it. Who are the ones whose names are chanted religiously by the fans?

Tim Tebow's Strength is Jesus Christ
ВЁWhen people see the work ethic, determination and the passion that I have, they're going to ask, "What drives you? What is that?" Well, the answer
is my relationship with Jesus Christ. that's just what has always fueled me." (Rogeberg). As a tremendously skilled and dedicated athlete, Tim Tebow
uses his strengths to show Christ to people in a unique way. Tim Tebow demonstrates that Christlikeness and courage are essential to being a strong
leader. On a crisp summer day, August the fourteenth, nineteen–eighty seven, a legend in football and leader in Christ was born, named Timothy
Richard Tebow. He was born into a small town in the Philippines called Makati City. Tim Tebow's parents were originally from America but they
moved to the Philippines to do baptist missionary work (Whitaker, 5). In October of 1990 Tim Tebow's family of four other older siblings moved
to Jacksonville, Florida where Tim was raised. The Tebow's next door neighbor, Uncle Dick, was like a true uncle to Tim. Most of his childhood
memories were spent in Uncle Dick's household (Whitaker, 7). You rarely see homeschoolers turn into NFL stars, but Tim Tebow was one. His
mother homeschooled him from kindergarten until senior year of high school. His mother and father were his biggest influence to getting to know
Christ ("Tim Tebow Biography"). Tim Tebow says when he was seven years old he had a strange fear of getting into a wreck and not spending eternity
with God. With his parents help he accepted Christ

Our Boys: A Perfect Season
Our Boys; A Perfect Season
Our Boys follows the small town of Smith Center as it supports the football team in their pursuit of perfection. The season after the greatest class of
seniors has left the gridiron, doubts rise in the minds of the citizens of Smith Center about whether the new class of seniors can continue the winning
tradition. As the reader dives deeper into the pages of the book, it is discovered that this book is not about the pursuit of perfection on the field, but
rather in the perfection of raising children to succeed in real life.

Smith Center, Kans., is a sleepy locale 90 miles from the nearest McDonald's, a place with more windmills than people. But it's also home to Kansas's
biggest football powerhouse, a team that entered the fall of 2008 with 56 straight victories and four consecutive championships. From the opening
practice to the Redmen's final game, Drape flawlessly paints a picture of how Smith Center achieves perfection year after year. More importantly, he
delves into the individual stories on the team: the tough but kindhearted coach who built a dynasty from nothing; the sure–fire college prospect; and
the assistant coach's son, trying to live up to his father's legacy. All the while, Drape details the friendships he develops away from the field with the
parents and other townspeople, and the mutual joy they bring the Redmen. With a clear sensitivity toward the difficulties facing the Smith Center
players, along with more than a dash of humor, Drape gives the reader a team worth rooting

Figurative Language In The Yearling
Winning the Pulitzer Prize is like winning the Heisman Trophy. In that regard, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings is comparable to Nile Kinnick. Kinnick
won the Heisman in 1939 for his hard work, dedication, and ability to play football. Rawlings won the Pulitzer Prize in 1939 for her novel, The
Yearling, for her deliberate use of sensory details, figurative language, and artful syntax. The appliance of sensory details throughout the novel
enhance the story by depicting a vivid image of the characters and their situations. On page 224, Rawlings describes the events of the morning of
the storm. "The fawn came to Jody's bed and poked its muzzle against his face." The contrast of the wet, cold nose and Jody's warm face simulate
the change of the setting from calm and warm to story and cold. Earlier in the story, Jody is once again sleeping, but this time on the river on page
6. "There were no black boles of live oaks, no glossy green of magnolia leaves, no pattern of gold lace where the sun had sifted through the branches
of the wild cherry." The sensory details of the fading reality epitomize the dreamland that Jody is drifting off to. In addition to the sensory details, the
asyndeton contributes to the relatable feeling of thoughts turning to dreams as sleep takes over the mind. The most effective use of sensory details
occurs on page 224 as Jody wakes up the morning of the storm. "The morning, however, was clear, but the east was the color of blood." The distinct

Should College Athletes Be Paid?
There is a debate on whether college athletes should be paid. It has been known that the fewer scholarships given to student–athletes increase their
competiveness on the field, which shows us that keeping money away from student–athletes makes them more competitive (Baird 2). There is also a
case that student–athletes are being robbed because they are not receiving compensation for their own likeness (Holthaugh JR. 1). Television networks
are paying millions for the rights to show big games on TV, which shows us that student–athletes are the entertainers with no compensation (Bowen 1).
Allen Sack informs us that there have been cases where some athletes in the NCAA get injured before they finish their career and don't make it to the
pros due to the loss of their scholarship, which shows us that the NCAA is exploiting student–athletes Sack 2).The NCAA should require schools to pay
for sports–related injuries in any serious injury, because it can determine if they will make it to the NFL (Huma 1). Athletes are accepting illegal pay,
because they see the universities making all of the money, which shows us that poor student–athletes are in need of compensation (Porto 1). Adrian
Peterson thinks that college athletes should be paid because he fought through injuries and did not make a penny from his years at Oklahoma, which
shows us that student–athletes who make it to the NFL have injuries that they are fighting through during the combine (Haislop 2). Joe Theisman thinks

Attributes of Typical Heisman Trophy Winners Essay
HEISMAN DILEMMA
The Heisman Trophy: symbol of unquestionable superiority among fellow NCAA division 1–A athletes . . . or is it? This unique honor is awarded to
the player who the Heisman panel believes is the "best" player in 1–A. The award can be given to a player of "any position," or so the Heisman
committee says. There has never been a Heisman candidate who hasn't been a quarterback, running back, or multi–purpose skill player (for example:
someone who plays wide receiver, defensive back, and is a situational running back). Does the Heisman Trophy really determine who the best player

7. If you are a quarterback, running back, or multipurpose athlete at a traditional power, have a very good statistical season, are an upperclassman,
and your team wins at least nine games, you have a very good chance to win. "Traditional powers" qualify as:
Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State,
Michigan, Miami, or Florida State.
8. Statistical Benchmarks for each position in order to just be considered for the Heisman:
Running Back: Must score at least 17 touchdowns and gain

Quarterback: 20 touchdown passes, 3,000 yards, 2–1 touchdown– interception ratio, and at least a 135 passer rating; if you are a "running quarterback,"
you need 1000 yards rushing and need to be a decent passer.
Multi–threat athlete: Must make big plays on both sides of the ball, and consistently make big special team plays, specifically punt and kick returns.

College Athletes Should Be Paid
Playing a sport in college is equivalent to working a full–time job (Thomas). There are rules that allow major–college football coaches to only demand
twenty hours of the players time each week (Wieberg). However, studies show that those athletes are doubling those hours per week during the season
(Wieberg). Other sports are putting in the equivalent of a full time work week (Wieberg). Some NCAA officials are concerned with the amount of time
spent stating that beyond forty hours is inhumane (Wieberg). Most of the athletes compete and do whatever it takes to succeed, so they enjoy spending
countless hours on sports (Wieberg). Many athletes even have struggles in the classroom because they do not have enough time to study.

College Athletics : The Top Of Everyone 's Interest

College athletics have always been popular across the United States. In recent years it seems to have escalated tenfold. Football and basketball being
at the top of everyone's interest. Collegiate sports have brought in a large sum of revenue to their Universities, in addition to increasing the overall
popularity of the college. For example, in an article from Forbes website, "that the University of Alabama's Athletic Program had the highest revenue
of any other University in 2014 at $81,993,762" (Jessop). Even though the college made a large sum of money, no college athletes were legally

Student athletes should be compensated for their work, as they are the sole reason for the Athletic Program's success. These athletes are working
hard and risking their health to bring money to the University every day, yet are not rewarded with any monetary compensation. These athletes are
working for the schools and are doing a service to the college that seems to go unnoticed. This lack of pay is not seen anywhere else in the work place
and should not be seen here either. Everywhere else athletes are paid, so why shouldn't college athletes too? Some critics may argue that these
student–athletes are amateurs, and if paid then are becoming professional athletes. This statement could be made true if it weren't for the fact that these
college athletes are risking their futures for the benefit of the colleges. Defining College athletes as amateurs creates another problem in addition to not
being paid by the university: athletes can't promote themselves. The NCAA states "student–athletes shall be amateurs...and should be protected from
exploitation by professional and commercial enterprises" (NCAA). However, with this statement it seems that colleges and universities are the people
that exploit them. The NCAA has rules that "Student– Athletes can make up to $2000 in a given school year" (Bedinger). This would hardly cover
educational costs, especially if not on scholarship. Also with all the time practicing and working in the classroom, how many athletes have time to

Psychological Analysis of O.J. Simpson's Path to Infamy
O.J. Simpson, born Orenthal James Simpson, was born on July 9, 1947 in San Francisco, California. At the age of 2, he contracted rickets, which left
him bowl–legged and pigeon toed. At the age of 5, his parents separated and he was raised by his mother in a predominantly black neighborhood.
At the age of 13, O.J. joined a gang, the Persian Warriors, and one of fights landed him in a detention center for about a week (Biography.com, n.d.).
O.J.'s infamous football career began at Galileo High School, where he would go onto break records. This would lead to O.J. being recruited to play
college football which he went on to play for the University of South Carolina. While at USC, O.J. set many records at the halfback position which
ultimately lead to him winning the Heisman Trophy, a prestigious college football award. In 1969, O.J. was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, where he spent
the majority of his NFL career. While playing for the Buffalo Bills, O.J. earned his nickname, "the Juice," and he would continue to set records. He
would go on to play for the San Francisco 49ers during the final leg of his professional football career (Biography.com, n.d.).
Along with a very impressive football career, O.J. was also an actor and commentator for the NFL. He would appear on TV and films. Ironically, he

Cold Blood : The Trial Of The Century
In Cold Blood verses the Trial of the Century In Cold Blood brought about many social concerns and it was the cold and brutal facts of such a
gruesome murder which was brought to the small town and the innocent family. Capote provided a detailed account and documentation of how the
police force and legal system work in America. While the actual murders take up a small percentage of the 400 page novel, its main focus is on the
hunt of Smith and Hickock, the trial, and ultimately the execution of the two murderers. Capote explored the frustrations of the police force, the
frustration, and the cold facts which surrounded the murder. There is an element of suspense which Capote brought to In Cold Blood as the reader
waits for the final execution and in the process learn about mitigating circumstances which made them the way they were. Capote also explored the
everyday people and how they are altered in a way such as Smith was. Psychologically, this book or documentation is imperative as it explores how
the life he was born into, poor, abused, being shifted from institution, uneducated, and essential.ly a drifter due to these circumstances, shows that the
environment has a great impact upon people, especially those that have psychotic personalities. Perry was hopeless and believed that there was no

Naples. The Florida Academy Beauty College helped out with the great success of the prom night. They took 13 women with special needs and helped

  • 1. The O.J. Simpson Case O.J. Simpson was a very controversial case in its time. It was a controversial case mainly because of the interference from the media. The media gave their opinions on the case and became so involved that it began to sway the opinions of the jurors and people who watched the case. There were also many other factors in how the case gained its popularity. O.J Simpson could not be proven guilty because of multiple errors by the prosecuting side and a bad presentation of evidence. The following will explain O.J. Simpson's life, his murder trial, the problems with the case, and all of the events that came after his initial murder trial. Prior to the crime, O.J Simpson had a very successful life. Simpson was born on July 9th, 1947 in San Francisco, California. His full name is Orenthal James Simpson but his nickname was Juice. • 2. Rhetorical Analysis : College Football Essay 2 (Rhetorical Analysis) College Football is American Football played by student athletes at universities and colleges around the Nation. In American Football they have a Quarterback, in most cases, the Quarterback is the leader and focal point of the Football Team. At the University of Florida, they had a guy named Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow was the Heisman winning and Star Quarterback for the University ofFlorida Gators, but was also well known for his public display of religious faith on and off the Football Field. On September 27, 2008, the Florida Gators lost a disappointing game against the Ole Miss Rebels; Where Tim Tebow was stopped 1 yard shy away from giving the Gators a chance to win the game. It was a disappointing loss as the Florida Gators were expecting an undefeated season, and another shot at College Football's National Championship. After the game at the usual post game conference, an obvious emotional Tim Tebow talked about the struggles of the game and delivered the famous "I Promise" speech that will be forever remembered at the University of Florida and College Football history. Tim Tebow's speech empowered and inspired football fans across the nation and was the reason his team won the National Championship. Tim Tebow's "I Promise" Speech was at the post game conference following the crucial 31–30 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. The turning point in the game was a 4th down and 1–yard to gain where Tim Tebow was the ball carrier and was stopped inches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of Charles Woodson's Wedding Speech-Humorous Thank you, thank you all very much. Thank you. That's the happiest I have ever seen Charles Woodson since he won the Heisman Trophy back in '97. I cannot even begin to explain how honored I am to be mentioned in the same breath with some of the most iconic athletes, like Kobe Bryant and Peyton Manning. This is something that I will treasure for a very long time. I do not have much prepared, however, so I'm going to speak longer than anybody has spoken tonight. That is the way it goes. Time is very important to me. You never know how much of it you have left, and there are some things that I would like to say. Hopefully, by the end of this, I will have said something that will inspire all of you here tonight. People always ask me how is your day, and nothing has changed. As Charles said, I am a very hard–working and passionate man. I cannot help it. That is being the son of Mufid and Safija Hajric. It comes with a territory. We are committed and work hard. When people say to me how do you get through each day, it is the same thing. To me, there are three things that we must all strive to do each day. Number one is to have a feasible dream or goal of some kind. Number two is sacrifice. To attain your goals, you must always sacrifice a little more in order to reap the benefits later on. Number three is never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What I would like to be able to do is to help other young athletes find their passion and explore it. The Icon Award is a wonderful thing, and I know that my role within the community is significant. But when I see different statistics that insinuate that many high school athletes will not be able to pursue their athletic dreams, it breaks my heart. What if I told you that only 7% of all high school athletes will go on to pursue their sport at the collegiate level. I also told you that 33% quit due to a loss of interest. • 4. Do You Consider Yourself A Sports Fanatic? Do you consider yourself a sports fanatic? More in specific a college football enthusiast, do you know all the players, awards, and college superstars? Do you watch every game, of every season? Well I can tell you football is such a diverse game with all sorts of plays, players, positions, and awards I highly doubt you know all of it. One of the biggest, and my favourite, is the Heisman Trophy Award. The Heisman Trophy Award takes the nation 's best college athletes and compares them to every other college athlete, only few have won from the state of Texas. And if you want to be exact, only 10 from the state of Texas have won the Heisman Trophy. One of the first Heisman winners was Davey O 'Brien in 1938. His full name was Robert David ... • 5. Essay on Coach Bowden Bobby Bowden began his lifelong love for football at an early age. As a young child he would often climb onto the roof of his house and sit for hours watching the local high school team run practice drills. Bobby played football while a student at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama and again in college, first at the University of Alabama and then at Howard College (now Samford University). Bobby's coaching career began in 1954 as an assistant coach at Howard College. After working as an assistant coach at Howard for two years he was offered a head coaching position at South Georgia Junior College. Florida State only won four games in a three year stretch before Bowden came along in '76. After taking the reins at Florida State, Bobby immediately got to work transforming the Seminoles into the team that it is today. Over the years he has recruited many star athletes to come play football for Florida State including dozens of All–Americans, two Heisman Trophy winners and many star athletes that would also become stars in the NFL. The 1977 season brought Bobby his best season record to date finishing the season at 10–2 and finally beating in state rival Florida after losing to them the previous nine seasons. The Seminole squad was gaining much needed national exposure as the media started praising Bobby and his team on their achievements. Bobby Bowden was named the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year in 1980 and in 1983 and was inducted in the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. Over the next decade Bobby Bowden would lead his Seminoles to a post season bowl game every season except 1981. The loss to Oklahoma in the 1981 Orange Bowl would be Bowden's last loss in a bowl game for the next fifteen years. In 1987 Bobby coached his Seminoles to what would be the first of a 14 year long streak in which they won 10 or more games. This leads to the analysis of the State Attorney's Office's decision stating that Winston would not be charged withrape due to lack of evidence. Mueller and Kirkpatrick define real evidence as "tangible things directly involved in the transactions or events in litigation" (25) in Evidence Law and the System. In the case between Winston and Kinsman, an example of real evidence would be the clothes Kinsman was wearing the night of the rape. She was wearing pink jeans and underwear underneath and Winston's DNA was found in both of these articles of clothing. This finding proves they had some sexual interaction, but it doesn't prove that the sex was non–consensual. Demonstrative evidence is defined as "tangible proof that in some way makes graphic the point to be proved" (27). In this case an example of demonstrative evidence could be depictions of the bruises, lacerations and other minor injuries and body markings that were recorded at her initial visit to the hospital following the rape. • 8. How Did The Oj Simpson Solve The Justice System Cases like the O.J Simpson murder case prove that the U.S. justice system is flawed. There was a racial divide in the jury that made it near impossible for the prosecution to win even before the case started. The Defence tried to distract the jury from the evidence by focussing their attention on racism. In addition, the so called entertainment of the case became more important than the murder of a helpless wife and a person who did the wrong thing and was punished anyway. This case and many other cases like the Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox validate that the American justice system is bias and glitched. One of the reasons that the U.S. justice system is flawed is because there are often racial divides within the jury. The O.J. Simpson murder trial is a perfect example of this. Of the 12 jurors, only two jurors were white. The other ten jurors were either black or biracial. As Jeffrey Toobin states in his book The Run of His Life, "Caucasians.. Say I can't vote him not guilty..because I want to walk back into a life, Blacks ... say I can't vote him guilty...because I want to walk back into a life." How could a man be not guilty when there is a, "1 in 170 million(chance) that the blood came from anyone other than Simpson"? The evidence alone should have proved him guilty, but the jurors were brainwashed. As Toobin explains, "race had trumped gender" as the main bias in court cases. Jurors felt that they were obliged to vote a certain way based on the color of their skin. Black jurors felt that they had to vote him not innocent, because they had to show their solidarity with the black community. As Christopher Darden reports in his book In Contempt, " There were jurors and alternates who would never convict O.J. Simpson of murder". They felt like they had to vote him not guilty, no matter if they thought he was actually guilty or not. The "overwhelming evidence" was barely even part of the case, race had had become the center of attention. Peer pressure from their racial group was the new evidence in the O.J Simpson case. As I have already mentioned, another factor of the black jurors voting O.J. not guilty is that the defence tried to take the jury's attention away from the evidence and focus the case on ... To me, the definition of a hero is someone who helps people and is caring. In this world there are so many people mistaken for heroes. One example of a "hero" is O.J. Simpson. O.J was best known for being the running back of the Buffalo Bills and was nicknamed "The Juice". Although he was a Heisman Trophy winner he was also a major suspect of a murder case involving his wife and her new boyfriend. Lincoln fits my definition of a hero because he ultimately wanted what was best for the American people. There is also a case that student–athletes are being robbed because they are not receiving compensation for their own likeness (Holthaugh JR. 1). Television networks are paying millions for the rights to show big games on TV, which shows us that student–athletes are the entertainers with no compensation (Bowen 1). Allen Sack informs us that there have been cases where some athletes in the NCAA get injured before they finish their career and don't make it to the pros due to the loss of their scholarship, which shows us that the NCAA is exploiting student–athletes Sack 2).The NCAA should require schools to pay for sports–related injuries in any serious injury, because it can determine if they will make it to the NFL (Huma 1). Athletes are accepting illegal pay, because they see the universities making all of the money, which shows us that poor student–athletes are in need of compensation (Porto 1). Adrian Peterson thinks that college athletes should be paid because he fought through injuries and did not make a penny from his years at Oklahoma, which shows us that student–athletes who make it to the NFL have injuries that they are fighting through during the combine (Haislop 2). This unique honor is awarded to the player who the Heisman panel believes is the "best" player in 1–A. The award can be given to a player of "any position," or so the Heisman committee says. There has never been a Heisman candidate who hasn't been a quarterback, running back, or multi–purpose skill player (for example: someone who plays wide receiver, defensive back, and is a situational running back). If you are a quarterback, running back, or multipurpose athlete at a traditional power, have a very good statistical season, are an upperclassman, and your team wins at least nine games, you have a very good chance to win. "Traditional powers" qualify as: Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, or Florida State. 8. Statistical Benchmarks for each position in order to just be considered for the Heisman: Running Back: Must score at least 17 touchdowns and gain 1,700 all–purpose yards; Quarterback: 20 touchdown passes, 3,000 yards, 2–1 touchdown– interception ratio, and at least a 135 passer rating; if you are a "running quarterback," you need 1000 yards rushing and need to be a decent passer. Multi–threat athlete: Must make big plays on both sides of the ball, and consistently make big special team plays, specifically punt and kick returns. 9. There will never be another 2–time Heisman winner. 10. The winner must be likeable. (Herbstreit) Let's just take a look at the Heisman winners of the past 5 years. Matt Leinart (2004 Heisman winner), Jason White (2003 winner), Carson Palmer (2002 winner), Eric Crouch (2001 winner), and Chris Weinke (2000 winner) met all ten Heismandments. • 26. College Athletes Should Be Paid College athletes generate millions of dollars for their schools each year, yet they are not allowed to be compensated beyond a scholarship due to being considered amateurs. College athletes are some of the hardest working people in the nation, having to focus on both school courses and sports. Because athletics take so much time, these student–athletes are always busy. College football and basketball are multi–billion dollar businesses. The NCAA does not want to pay the athletes beyond scholarships, and it would be tough to work a new compensation program into the NCAA and university budgets. College athletes should be compensated in some form because they put in so much time and effort, generating huge amounts of revenue. Playing a sport in college is equivalent to working a full–time job (Thomas). There are rules that allow major–college football coaches to only demand twenty hours of the players time each week (Wieberg). However, studies show that those athletes are doubling those hours per week during the season (Wieberg). Other sports are putting in the equivalent of a full time work week (Wieberg). Some NCAA officials are concerned with the amount of time spent stating that beyond forty hours is inhumane (Wieberg). Most of the athletes compete and do whatever it takes to succeed, so they enjoy spending countless hours on sports (Wieberg). Many athletes even have struggles in the classroom because they do not have enough time to study. Student–athletes at top Division ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

College Athletics : The Top Of Everyone 's Interest Ryan Apicello Professor Dean Ulseheimer English 1110&1111 22 November 2014 College athletics have always been popular across the United States. In recent years it seems to have escalated tenfold. Football and basketball being at the top of everyone's interest. Collegiate sports have brought in a large sum of revenue to their Universities, in addition to increasing the overall popularity of the college. For example, in an article from Forbes website, "that the University of Alabama's Athletic Program had the highest revenue of any other University in 2014 at $81,993,762" (Jessop). Even though the college made a large sum of money, no college athletes were legally rewarded for their work. According to NCAA rules you must obey their rules... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Student athletes should be compensated for their work, as they are the sole reason for the Athletic Program's success. These athletes are working hard and risking their health to bring money to the University every day, yet are not rewarded with any monetary compensation. These athletes are working for the schools and are doing a service to the college that seems to go unnoticed. This lack of pay is not seen anywhere else in the work place and should not be seen here either. Everywhere else athletes are paid, so why shouldn't college athletes too? Some critics may argue that these student–athletes are amateurs, and if paid then are becoming professional athletes. This statement could be made true if it weren't for the fact that these college athletes are risking their futures for the benefit of the colleges. Defining College athletes as amateurs creates another problem in addition to not being paid by the university: athletes can't promote themselves. The NCAA states "student–athletes shall be amateurs...and should be protected from exploitation by professional and commercial enterprises" (NCAA). However, with this statement it seems that colleges and universities are the people that exploit them. The NCAA has rules that "Student– Athletes can make up to $2000 in a given school year" (Bedinger). This would hardly cover educational costs, especially if not on scholarship.
