Music is one of the most fascinating aspects of a civilization, and yet it's importance is often overlooked by many in today's world. The existence of
music dates well beyond any known civilization, and its gradual evolution drastically varies from culture to culture. To me, the notion that music is a
mere reflection of society is a statement I used to take for granted. Although this notion is true to some degree, mainly with some popular music, my
research has led me to conclude that all music influences society on a greater scale than one would assume. In ancient times, there existed many

Having found a new direction in my life, I left everything in the hectic New York City behind. I moved on my own to a rural area in Washington State
in an effort to live a more peaceful and self–sufficient life, and pursue new experiences. Once I moved, my taste in music gradually became more
refined. I began to seriously practice the classical guitar and composed for it as well. Since then, I also started experimenting with binaural beats and
have used them extensively in meditation and other disciplines. This led me to research the effects of particular frequencies exerted on the brain, and
how they could easily be used to induce different brainwave frequency states. I discovered how playing music helps to create a lot of new neural
networks, increase the bridge between the two brain hemispheres (corpus callosum) and develop higher levels of perception. But the rabbit hole was
deeper than I thought.
I read books on the influence of music on society throughout the ages. Each specific type of music has produced an effect on history, morals and
culture. I found examples of drastic changes in music that led to drastic changes in civilization. Different styles of music within a society led to
different coexisting ideals. Sometimes new popular music led to a social revolution. In places like ancient China, where music varied very little,

I planned, organized, and currently execute a student music outreach program at the Greenspring Assisted Living Community. At first, volunteering
was simply a way for me to fulfill a community service requirement for school. I was assigned basic tasks such as delivering the mail, or transporting

I have played the upright double bass since elementary school and have continually invested my time and focus into music. Music has taught me
discipline through practice and has also brought me tremendous enjoyment. It is a gift I believed that the residents would appreciate so I decided to
share the benefits of live music with my friends at Greenspring. Just playing bass on my own for a couple hours would have been incredibly difficult
and likely not as enjoyable to the audience. Therefore, I devised a music outreach program to connect the elderly and student music communities. I
presented my plan to the head of administration at Greenspring as well as the heads of local schools' Guitar, Orchestra, and Band departments. Next, I
approached the student music organizations such as the Tri–M music honor society to solicit students for my program. Students of all backgrounds,
disciplines, and passions then signed up and performed to fulfill their service requirements. While many initially volunteered for the same reasons as I
did, many students became regulars within the program. Interacting with widely differing communities of musicians and elders bestowed upon me a
crucial component of leadership: adaptability. I welcomed all residents, introduced each student, and the purpose of my program. To this day my

same halls as them. The lack of appreciation of the music and arts programs throughout America is astonishing, and heartbreaking to many of the
students, parents, and staff that are involved with them. There are more than a few causes that can be held responsible, however the main three are a
lack of funding, lack of support from administration and staff, and the lack of equal support amongst students involved in different activities, such as
sports, clubs, and music programs, all of which have led to a decrease in student participation in music. However, there may be a solution in sight, with

wonderfully civilized and wise account of the performance.
The second movement is designed beautifully. Once again the tempo is skillfully chosen.
The woodwinds and the strings afford Haitink some fine playing and there are several lovely woodwind solos for the audience to enjoy. The third
movement is lithe and light – this is a joyful and well–sprung dance. The subsequent storm is exciting, featuring some thrilling strikes on the timpani.
The finale brings an excellent summary of the performance. In Haitink's experienced hands, the symphony is serene, displaying an inner radiance and
warmth. The style is demonstrative and completely natural. The pacing is perfect and the playing is glowing.

Piccolo was presented to me freshman year because my band director needed a piccolo player and I was the only one who had any prior experience. I
joined drum line last summer because I was asked by some of the former and current members to join and along with a few new members– all of

I was assigned to cut the budget for year 1 and year 2 by $750,000 (total of $1.5 million over 2 years) by the CEO. I took a comprehensive look at
the budget and my recommendations are that we should cut the number of participants from 1000 to 910 and let go of 3 staff members. These
reductions would have a cascading effect and help us to cut the budgets of both years by 750,000 dollars.
I believe that the quality of our program is more important than the number of participants we serve. Consequently, I propose to
decrease the number of participants by 9% (90 participants) for year 1 and year 2. This cut would cause minimum harm to the program because we

Setting deadlines, organizing materials, and making sure everyone did their part was my main role. Although I was in–charge of the group, I made sure
to include the creative input from all members. For example, the group, as a whole, decided on the materials and how to put the body system

Disney 's Fantasia (1940) lies in a class separate from all other animations of program music. While its initial reception was less than stellar, it has
since become a standard film in home collections. Theatrical performances, games, and many other derivatives of the brand now exist. Despite this, it
has also generated a fair amount of controversy. For example, it contains scenes that allude to Darwin's theory of evolution, and others that display
