2. INTRODUCTION
The Linda Jamieson School of Dance is led by director and
choreographer Linda Jamieson, who has led the school to achieve a
number of national and international awards over the last 30 years. As
director of the School of Dance, Ms. Jamieson draws on an extensive
career as a dancer and choreographer, as well as on her educational
background. She holds master’s degrees in educational psychology and
physical education and certification from the Royal Academy of Dance
(RAD).
The RAD network of certified instructors is comprised of approximately
8,000 dance teachers around the world. Eligible teachers can choose
from a number of certification courses, including a diploma of higher
education in dance education, a diploma in dance teaching studies, and
a master in teaching dance. More specialized programs, meanwhile,
include certification in ballet teaching studies.
To further improve certification processes, the academy has introduced a
new course that culminates in RAD registered teacher status (RTS). The
RTS course has been optimized for ballet teachers who have experience
teaching Level 4 courses or higher. More information regarding the
specialty certification programs and courses offered by RAD is available
at www.rad.org.
