2. Learning aims:
During this lesson, learners will be able to…
- Consolidate vocabulary from previous classes;
- Construct new vocabulary around animals of the farm;
- Develop self-confidence;
- Develop observation and cognitive skills;
- Dramatize a short story through a song;
- Relate meaning with pictures, songs and movements.
Learning focus:
The activities will focus on:
- Vocabulary from previous class: hello, happy, bye, goodbye, family.
- New vocabulary: farm, rooster, cow, dog, duck, horse, pig, sheep.
- Animal sounds;
- Imagination and dramatization
Integration of skills:
They children will develop:
- Listening skills (listening to the teacher and a to a story song)
- Speaking skills (singing and speaking with the class)
- Imagination skills (dramatizing a story)
- Interpersonal skills (interacting with teacher and classmates)
- Movement skills (producing movements from a story)
- Logical skills (solving problems through game)

- A bag to put the puppets
- Family member puppets (from previous class)

- Pictures of farm animals (rooster, cow, dog, duck, horse, pig, sheep)

- Cardboards
- Glue
- Cardboard cylinders
Possible contingencies:
- Children talking at the same time when the teacher asks questions;
- Children getting bored and distracted with some activity;

- Children talking and shouting and distracting others;
- Children that find difficult the activity of dramatization;
- Children getting confused with the task.
Classroom management strategies:
- Give turns to answers questions;
- If they get bored or distracted, say their names and ask them questions;
- To help them understand: talk to the puppet Bartolito, show pictures,
make gestures, and repeat phrases;
- Call Mr. Silence and say that if they speak loud or shout Mr. Silence
can´t sleep;
- If some child has difficulty to follow the dramatization activity, the teacher
can stand near her/him to give support and guide;
- Stop, and start the activity again to guide them better.
Assessment (collecting information and reporting findings):
- Asking questions about the topic;
- Observing children participation during the tasks;
- Making comments on their performances.
Lesson stages:
1. Lead- in and presentation
Purpose:
- To say hello to Bartolito and Mr Silence
- To say hello to the teacher and mates with a song
- To consolidate simple greeting vocabulary
Timing: 7 minutes
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to students
(include direct speech):
- Tell the children: Please sit on the floor.
- Take the bag with Bartolito and Mr Silence and tell the children: Shhh…
Bartolito and Mr Silence are sleeping.
- Peep carefully into the bag and make the children peep carefully too.
- Tell the children: It´s time to wake them up. I need your help to wake
them up. Let´s say Bartolitoo!! The children will say with a loud voice
Bartolito´s name with you.
- After three times of repeating Bartolito´s name, he comes out of the bag
saying Hello!
- Encourage the children to say hello to him.
- Do the same with Mr Silence.
- Play and sing the Hello Song, making gestures so they can follow you:

2. Development of the sequence of activities
Activity one: Bartolito present his family
Purpose:
- To introduce vocabulary about animals of the farm
- To present Bartolito´s family
- To produce animal sounds
- To develop self-confidence and speaking skills
Timing: 13 minutes
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to students
(include direct speech):
- Say to the children: Bartolito wants to present us his family.
- Show the children a farm with small animal toys (duck, cow, cook, pig,
horse, duck, dog)
5. - Include a photo of Zenon.
- Tell them: This is Bartolito´s family. Bartolito don´t have a mum, a dad, a
sister, a brother (show the family members puppets while speaking)
- These animals are Bartolito´s family.
- Tell them with gestures, they live all together in the farm.
- Tell the children the names of the animals, making also their sounds.
- Encourage them to say the names and make the sounds:
Tell them: In this family we have a rooster (Bartolito). Show the rooster.
Tell them: Repeat with me: Rooster. And tell them: The rooster says:
cocorocoo!
Say to them: We have a cow. Show the cow. Tell them: The cow says:
muuuuu! ...
- Do the same with the rest of the animals.
- Congratulate the children: Very good!
- To finish asks them: Is it a big or a small family?
- To finish ask them if they liked it.

- Show the children animal toys in a farm
- Name the animals
- Encourage the children to repeat the animal´s names
- Make the animal´s sound
- Encourage them to produce the animal´s sounds
- Ask simple questions

Activity two: Dramatization of a song story
Purpose:
- To develop listening skills;
- To dramatize a short story through a song;
- To develop self-confidence;
- To develop coordination and imaginative skills;
- To relate meaning with pictures, songs and movements.

6. Timing: 20 minutes
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to students

- Switch the projector and say the children: Look, we are going to the farm!
- Play the video song “A walk around the farm”:

- Sing it pointing the animals they will find in the farm.
- Play the song again but now showing another video of the song:

- This video will help to explain the children the visit to the farm.
- Tell them: These children are visiting the farm. Ask Bartolito: Bartolito Do
you want to visit the farm? Yes, he says.
- Ask the children: Do you want to visit the farm? Encourage them to say
yes.
- Say: Great, let´s go to the farm!
- Put some chairs in the middle of the room, making a circle.

7. - Hang on the wall pictures of the animal´s mentioned in the song.
- Give the children cardboard cylinders to look through them to dramatize
the first part of the song. Say to them: With these cylinders we will look
for the animals.
- Show them what they are going to do with a practical example:
- Make them hold their hands and play the song slowly the first time
(select 0.75 velocity in YouTube). Dramatize it, making the gestures and
sounds that appear in the story, and pointing to the animals when they
are mentioned. Encourage the children to follow you.
- Practise the dramatization again.
- Play the song with its original playback speed and dramatize the story
with the children.
- Say goodbye to the animals. Goodbye cow! Good by pig! And so on.

Activity 3: Wrong farm animal’s game
Purpose
- Consolidate vocabulary about animals of the farm
- Develop cognitive skills
Activity description and instructions as they will be said to students
(include direct speech):
- Play this game, using printed animals, and a cardboard where you and
the group will paste the animals with glue:

- Tell the children: I need your help! Look at the animals! Show them parts
of the animals of the farm (cut in two parts)
- Tell them: Is this the cow (joining two wrong parts). They are expected to
answer “No”.
- Ask again: Is this the cow? Joining again two wrong parts. Repeat it
three of four times per animal.
- If they answer wrong, tell them: Are you sure? Making gestures with the
face and showing them a picture of the animal not cut.
