Question 1 poster
1. Discuss how your products have borrowed/developed/challenged conventions
from existing products and how you have used your research to help you
Poster
2. The poster includes the same as the digipak, a picture of
the artist, the name of the artist and the album. However,
the poster also contains a example of the CD itself which
shows the audience what they are actually buying. On the
poster, I made sure the two things that pulled focus was
the pictures and the name of the artist. To maintain a
sense of house style, I made sure that the pictures were
black and white to keep the sense of mystery that is
present on the CD cover. I wanted continuity between
the music video, poster and music video, therefore the
pictures are all sourced the same place because that gives
the audience a sense of continuity.
3. Inspiration
I was not inspired by another poster for the creation of mine. I was inspired by the music videos, and
digipaks I looked at that inspired by music video and digipak actually helped me develop my poster more
than the other posters I looked at did. Many of the posters I viewed didn’t link to what I wanted for mine.
Therefore, the black and white style from Adele’s Adele 21 CD cover, and the black and white from James
Arthur’s Say You Won’t Let Go inspired how I should make and set out my poster. I went against
conventions for creating my poster because I did not follow them, I made sure it was black and white, and
it advertised that the CD was coming out, but other than that it was unique and wasn’t inspired by any
other posters I saw.
