Paranoia Script (UPDATED)
1. Paranoia - SCRIPT
EXT. STREET - LATE EVENING
BOY walks down the street in dark clothing. He casts long
shadows on the footpath in front of him as he ambles
tiredly, yawning and rubbing his eyes occasionally.
As each shadow stretches along the screen an opening credit
appears.
BOY pulls his phone out of his pocket to make a call but it
has no signal. He walks past a table of people eating and
talking outside a restaurant. We hear snippets of their
conversation through BOY’s ears intercut with slow motion
footage of them laughing. Their speech is whispered and
distorted as ambient music builds.
PERSON 1
(whispered)
That boy...
PERSON 2
(whispered)
What’s he doing here?
PERSON 3
(whispered)
We should have killed him a long
time ago.
BOY diverts his eyes back to the ground with a shocked look
on his face as the ambient music returns to regular levels.
His walking becomes faster and he checks his phone again
(still no signal).
He scans around looking for something, eyes wide, while he
walks. The whispered snippets of speech he overheard repeat
in his mind as goes. He hears a rustle in the bushes next to
him and he picks up his pace again, panicked but not
running.
BOY sees what he’s looking for (a phone booth), and beelines
for it. As he enters the ambient music and whispers become
muffled. He dials 111 with shaking hands and puts the phone
to his ear. All background audio cuts out and softly reverbs
as we hear the phone ring slowly, with a tense few seconds
of silence between each ring. There is a clicking sound and
a few seconds of static before a raspy voice is heard.

2. CONTINUED: 2.
RASPY VOICE
(slowly)
Watch... your... back.
The phone hangs up. BOY drops it and it hangs by the cord
for a few seconds while the ambient music and whispers build
to a crescendo.
CUT TO BLACK
After few seconds of audio reverb a stylised title card of
the film fades in, then after a few seconds fades out.
