1. Hot Fuzz Clip- Homework
Mise-en-scene: The location was set in a big hall at the start. Itdidn’t give us
much detail of wherewe were until Nicholas angle came into the shotand was
wearing a police uniformwhich then told us the office could be the police
station.
Cinematography: Establishing shot was used to show a man entering an office
however you haven’t been introduced to any characters at this point so it
makes you think if this character has any significance. A high angle was used to
show a character at the bottom of a staircasein the corner holding a gun which
could tell us that he is looking for someone. Medium shotis used to show
Nicholas Angel sat at a desk talking to the head of the police office.
Sound: The sound at the start had minimal music to it. Itwas the main
character Nicholas angle who commentated over it all whilstthe montage was
going on. This had an effect as we then clearly knew who the main character
was as they are instantly the only part of the film for 5 minutes. With minimal
background music allowed you to hear clearly whatNicholas angle was saying
so that you would understand exactly whatis going on in the film and whathas
happened in the past.
Editing: In the clip there is a lot of jump cuts. This is because due to the voice
over’s in the clip you need to be able to see all the things so they’ve used jump
cut to show everything being said.
