12. What I did For 24 hours, I volunteered at the Full Circle Farm in Sunnyvale, CA. In the month of April, the farm was organizing an Earth Day festival. We created activities for families to have fun while becoming aware of how to keep the environment clean and keep themselves healthy. For 16 hours, I volunteered at the Sunnyvale Public Library. Along with other volunteers, I shelved books, prepared materials for children’s crafts, cleaned, and reorganized the all the children’s hardcover books.
13. Full Circle Farm The Full Circle Farm in Sunnyvale, CA, started in 2007. It is an 11 acres farm that grows organic food and teaches elementary children about growing and eating healthy food. The majority of the its produce is sent to school cafeterias.
14. Sunnyvale Public Library Founded in 1908, the Sunnyvale Public Library has undergone many changes. The building pictured below was created in 1960. Inside, staff and volunteers work to have reading materials available for the public’s use. Their mission statement is, “Your Gateway to Knowledge, Learning, and Enrichment Today, Tomorrow and in the Future... “
15. Anyone Can Do It There is always something to do. If you want to volunteer at your local library, ask at the information desk or search the library’s website. Volunteering at a farm is a great way to be outdoors and watch how the food you eat is grown. Look through local newspapers or search around the internet. You never know what you may find.
