 overwhelmingly involved in wars,
 in all kinds of intergroup aggressions
 in intragroup homicide;

of men to gain
status, resources
& protecting the
“family”
 Men mobilize
themselves into
 armies of violent fans,
 in criminal gangs,
 in bands of thugs, etc.

on average, 26 times
more frequently than
women

 Men are also,
 of the victims of homicides
 of crimes committed
 of serial killers
 of familicides
▪ (the killing of family members

Animal cruelty and abuse.
 male-to-female ratio regarding violence to animals:
 beatings – 38 to 1, shooting – 16 to 1,
 torture – 20 to 1, burning – 17 to 1 .

 In many animal species,
including primates, males
have the biological role of
being
 guardians of the territory
 banishing the intruders
 protecting the group from
predators
 these functions
require that males
exhibit a higher level
of aggression than
females

 Men have inherited these skills from our evolutionary ancestors,
 gaining a higher hierarchical status, resources, protecting the family
 obtaining competitive advantages in conquering women involves increased
physical contest and increased aggressiveness.

girls don't want to go to schools that don't have

So it is not so much that the system
favors girls
as it disadvantages boys

 The Roman Catholic have only one boys' high
school
 but all of 5 high schools for girls only
 None of the single-sex schools were
established by government

 Boys and girls of the same age are put in the
same class
 This means that girls will nearly always do
better
Potential negative psychological impact on
boys

high schools should all be single
sex
each gender can progress at their
optimal pace

 Men smoke more lung-
cancer-causing cigarettes
 Men drink more cirrhosis-
of-the-liver-producing
alcohol
 Men take more mind
bending hard drugs

 Men have higher death rates
for all 15 leading causes of
death;
 from accidents to AIDS
 Men eat more unhealthy,
cardiovascular-disease
producing red meat

 Men expose themselves to more
on-the-job disabling hazards
 Men account for 94% of all on-the-
job fatalities
 Drive faster and more recklessly
 to kill and be killed

 Men possess more firearms and
other deadly weapons
 to take each others’ lives
 Men have more stress and tension
building competitive personalities

 Women complain of a shortage of
marriageable men
 and they will be right!
 More men at the bottom of the economic
ladder than women
 And more men involved in crime

 We desperately need to
see the establishment of
men studies
 to devise ways to socialize
boys to become pro-social
and productive men.
 Our lives depend on this.
