1. Jake Bugg Digi-pack analysis
Jake Bugg is a self-titled album he is an English singer and songwriter; he
released his firstalbum on 15th October 2012 in the UK and then released the
album in America on 9th April 2013. On 21stOctober thealbum number one
on the UK Albums Chartas he sold over 450,000copies of his firstalbum and
became platinum by the BPI. JakeBugg focuses on IndieFolk/IndieRock also
He has signed the record label Mercury in the UK, but is now part of Virgin EMI
record label.
The image of the album cover is very simple with a Black and white effect this
is to give it a serious and classical rock like look to the image, there is a direct
address used this may be used to create a relationship with the audience and
forcethem to pick it up and look at the album this may persuadethem into
buying the album this may suggestwhy he sold so many albums. Because Jake
Bugg is only young and has not gained a big name for himself at this time, this
maybe the reason to why they want to do this is to get the look of him and his
image well known. The images on the inside CD and back of the image are all
on a street, this street maybe wherehe lived and his routes, he may have done
this to show he will always remember his routes, and be grateful about what
he has and what he will gain in the futureand he will owe it to his home town.
He also wrotemany of his songs based on his home town Clifton to which the
pictures on his dig pack are shot from. He maybe also is paying pastiche to his
2. home town as he owes his respect to Clifton as it inspired him to write his
songs. On the CD, the image is of him smoking looking right into the camera,
he is also smoking a cigarette. This is all done to gain the viewers’ attention, as
it makes a relationship with his audience, the fact he is smoking a cigarette
maybe done to show a cool side to him and also be done to show a rebellious
side and maybedone as it iconic to the indie genre. He is also carrying a guitar
this is also an icon to the indie folk genreand allows us to be aware of what
the genre of music Jake Bugg is a part of.
I would say that the narrativeof this digi-pack is all about Jake Buggs routes
and his home town as all the images consistof picture in whatseems to be his
hometown, I would also say that it is a respectfuldigi-pack as he is paying
pastiche/ homage to his home town as if it wasn’tfor his home town he would
not be a successfulas heis now.
