Pitch presentation
1.
2. Rock music is a genre of popular music that originated as "rock
and roll" in 1950s America and developed into a range of
different styles in the 1960s and later, particularly in the United
Kingdom and the United States.
Rock and roll has been seen as leading to a number of
distinct sub-genres, including rockabilly,
combining rock and roll with "hillbilly“
country music, which was usually played
and recorded in the mid-1950s by white
singers such as Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis,
Buddy Holly and with the greatest commercial
success, Elvis Presley.
3. In 1960 there was a massive Rock invasion to the United
Kingdom, by the end of 1962 , the Rock beat groups
like The Beatles and Freddie and the Dreamers had
become huge bands worldwide.
These bands brought in a range of American influences
including soul, rhythm and blues and surf music,
initially reinterpreting standard American tunes and
playing for dancers.
4. Conventions of Rock music videos may contain the use of
low key lighting creating shadows. This creates a sense
of enigma for the audience and also connotes them
being isolated from other music genre’s it also connotes
them as being different from your typical boy band.
This is also a convention of Rock music to stand out
and be different from other mainstream genres.
For example in The Script’s music video of Nothing, low
key lighting is used throughout the video.
6. In the majority of the rock music videos that we looked at,
the artists are all wearing either black clothes or the video
is in black and white. When making our own music video
we will have to take into context the use of black clothes
and the effect of black and white screening if we want to
conform with the conventions of the Rock genre.
Oasis ‘Wonderwall’: in this music video, it conforms with all
the conventions of a Rock music video. With the use of
closes up on the instruments used for example the
drummer playing the drums and the guitarist. The music
video is a concept based music video .
7. Emphasising instruments

8. The Script are an Irish rock band from Dublin. Based in London after
signing to Sony Label Group, the band released their debut album
in August 2008, featuring the hit songs "The Man Who Can't Be
Moved" and "Breakeven". The album debuted at number one in
Ireland and the UK. Their second album, Science & Faith, was
released in September 2010, and contains the hit songs "For the
First Time" and "Nothing". The album debuted at number one in
Ireland and the UK, and number three on the US Billboard
200.Their third album #3 is set for release on 10 September 2012.
9. The Script are represented as a traditional rock boyband with
versatile music choices, for example doing a duet with Will.I.Am
on their song Hall Of Fame.
The Script are also known for their major hits such as ‘The Man Who
Can’t Be Moved’ and ‘Breakeven’. The majority of the songs that
The Script have released are about the troubles that people have in
there lives and how to deal with them. This is one reason why we
want our visuals to match the lyrics because this is a running
theme in all of The Scripts music video.
10. We decided to do Fall For Anything by The Script
because from the first listen of the song we knew
exactly what we wanted to do within the music
video.
The storyline of the whole song is going to be on the
basis that the man has cheated on his wife and she
finds out after she has made a romantic dinner for
them both marking a special occasion.
13. Effects: Final Cut using black white effect to add
tension to the music video.
14. As a group we have decided our performance
style will be a Narrative Music Video.
Our overall vision is to portray the music video as
an abusive relationship using the use of
flashbacks and props.
