Dependency In Technology Essay
Today we live in a modern age where technological development is one of the greatest gifts to
humanity. Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines,
techniques, crafts, systems and methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a
pre–existing solution to a problem, achieve a goal, handle an applied input/output relation or
perform a specific function (Wikipedia). It also refer to the collection of such tools, including
machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures. We live in a technological society and we
expect our machines to work. We take technologies for granted and, not to put too fine a point in it.
When they fail, it seems like civilization is crashing around our ears (Matthew, 1999).
While speaking about technology and dependency at the same time, one may directly think of
computers due to their remarkable capabilities to make humans dependent on them because these
machines reduce work pressure as well as the time needed to finish a specific task. Computers are
programmable machines, their main characteristic is responding to a specific set of instructions
(Wikipedia). It is arguable that computer dependencies is not as bad as some think. Noticeably,
computers play a huge role in supporting humans to overcome daily difficulties such as repetitive
tasks, communications and medical interaction.
Computers have no doubt became part of most businesses due to its ability to handle a high number
of tasks. In

Essay about Society's Dependence on Computers
Computers are everywhere, and they are used for everything, and in every type of business have we
become too dependent on computers?
The younger generation particularly has seized on the strange communication through the Internet.
Using chat groups on different subjects they are taking in school, they conduct live conversations by
keyboard through the internet.
Since computers have been invented, so many people everywhere find themselves dependent on
computers. Computers are appearing almost about every aspect of our lives, and in most cases,
they are making things very easy r for us. Computers permit us to work from home, mingle with
our friends and family who live a great distant from us, and they are a great stress relief when we

Are we to dependent on computers the question can be answered many different ways but in today's
world we use a computer for many different things from playing video games which can be
addictive and chatting which can be addictive as well people are spending more and more time on
the computer and less time socializing in person. Dependency for computers has grown from all ages
and every type of business.
Another problem with computers is when a person's interest in computers goes to the extreme and
becomes an obsession. Computers make our lives very easy and give us many ways to learn about
the things we have an interest in.
Computers make it so we can to do various things from the comfort of our own home –
People shop online, contact family and friends online, and go to school online. It's easy to save and
manage information and entertain ourselves with a variety of games.
People can get caught up in computers so much that they forget to socialize out of the computer
world. People become addicted to chatting online in various chat rooms and they become addicted
to various websites such as face book, my space and twitter. As we grow more and more dependent
on computers we are so quick to purchase items online placing our personal information such as our
name, address credit card information and whatever they feel is safe online and not think of the
problems that

Cyber Security Essay
The human dependence on technology has been increasing rapidly because humans are trying to
incorporate technology in every aspect of life. The increasing dependence on technology in
today's world has led to an increased level of vulnerability of the private information of the people.
Most of the technology being used today is open to attack and can be hacked. According to CFO
Magazine Global Business Outlook Survey, 80 percent of the U.S. companies have been hacked
successfully [PHYS ORG, website]. Thus, cyber–security is a major concern in today's world. One
of the major causes of vulnerabilities found in cyber–security is the acts done by people either
performed deliberately or accidentally.
Issue
One of the major challenges in cyber–security lies in the realm of people. Lack of education and
awareness regarding the cyber–threats in the people is an important factor that is increasing the
number of data breaches. Despite hearing about different cyber–threats, people do not take it
seriously and click on the links in the tainted emails [Insurance Journal, website]. Furthermore,
people do not update their passwords for a long time and even ignore the suggestion of keeping a
strong password so they can remember the password. Additionally, people download copies of
movies and music from unknown sources online and unknowingly put their computer data at risk.
According to a recent study performed at the Friedrich–Alexander University in Germany, more than

Declaration Of Dependence On Technology
Absolutely. Don't get me wrong, I think technology is amazing and we have proven that we can do
amazing things with computers. From quickly looking up information, to talking to someone across
the country, to performing surgery.
We are so dependent on computers now that we are no longer teaching cursive writing. Here is KY
it is considered an "outdated" form of communication. How will these younger generations read the
"Declaration of Independence?" Of course, on a computer, but does it give the same meaning? I do
teach both of my daughters cursive handwriting, but that doesn't mean everyone does.
Again, I think computers are amazing and great to have around. They make things so much easier,
however, we are in trouble if one day they all crash...although, I guess in the same since, paper can

Argumentative Writing
Topic: We are becoming overwhelmingly dependent on computers. Is thisdependence on computers a
good thing or should we be more suspicious of their benefits?
Introduction
Computers are, without a doubt, a useful tool that many of us use every day. Sincetheir invention,

But it's not just a matter of behavioural changes –– when a person can't tear themselves away from
the screenlong enough to take part in any other activity, it can take a toll on their comfort andhealth.
They may experience weight gain, strained eyes, and headaches, amongother unpleasant side–effects.
However, it can also be argued that this is not thefault of the computer, but rather the fault of the
person.Perhaps the most convincing argument, however, is the issue of safety. Aside fromthe
issue of sharing personal information such as full names and addresses, there isalso the bigger
issue of stolen personal information. As our dependence oncomputers grows, so does our comfort
level with them, and we are more likely tosave personal information to our computer. While it
would be nice to think that it isalways perfectly safe to do so, the fact is that there are people who
have anynumber of ways to gain access to your personal files, and therefore, any
personalinformation stored on your computer. Even if you don't knowingly keep any personal
information on your computer, if you bank or shop online at all, it's possible for someone who
knows what they're doing to gain access to delicatefinancial information. But these are just examples
of issues with household computers. What of the restof the world? Instead of writing a

Society's Dependency On Technology
Today, technology is a ruling factor among our society.
Technology is involved in every aspect of our lives.
Our dependence on technology has been taken to a whole other level, we are now incredibly
dependent on technology.
We may be too dependent on technology, but our dependence does not necessarily impact us in
negative ways. II. Some say the increasing need for technology, specifically social media, causes
social isolation. Since so much time is spent on technology, these days, people tend to forget about
the outside world around them (Ramey).
"Americans aged 18 and older spend more than 11 hours a day watching TV, listening to the radio or
using smartphones and other electronic devices" (Richter). B. However, communication has been
greatly improved by advancing technology.
Because of technology, it has become more convenient to communicate with those we desire to
speak with much more often ("Benefits of Technology").
"Modern technology has made it simple to discover our old friends and discover new people to
network with [through social media]" (Ramey).
2. "Modern technology has blessed us with advanced communication technology tools" (Ramey).
"These [technology tools] can include e–fax machines, electronic mail, mobile phones,
videoconferencing, instant text messaging, applications, social networking applications" (Ramey).

Our Excessive Dependence on Technology Essay
Our Excessive Dependence on Technology
Today, almost every business owns computers. At least 900,000 businesses use the Internet. Some,
such as Amazon.com, are run only on the Internet. If the internet were to shut down, a lot of
people would be without jobs. We have gradually become more and more dependent on
technology. As a result, we have become weaker. In terms of Darwin's "only the strongest survive"
the people of twenty years ago were far superior to the people of today because of their
non–dependence on computers.
First, there is the obvious decline in physical fitness. For example, in Vermont, the percentage of
students who participate in at least three hours of physical activity a week has dropped from 70% to
64% in only...show more content...
As a society, we now spend way more time watching television than we do exercising. Quite frankly,
we have become as lazy as sloths.
However, it is not only in the area of physical fitness that we have become weak. We cannot take
care of ourselves without technology like we used to. We are continually losing the knowledge of
how to do things by hand. If parts of the power grid were to shut down permanatly, as has already
happened for brief periods of time, the results could be horrifying.
Last year income of farmers dropped 6.8% nationwide . This decline in income has caused millions
of farmers to quit their jobs and search elsewhere for employment. Pretty soon there may not be
very many farmers at all, and for all of our technology, without farmers there would still be no
food on your table. Twenty years ago, many people had a small garden patch in their backyard.
Now we spend our free time watching television or chatting on the Internet. Many of us have no
clue when to plant corn, how much water strawberries need, or what kind of mushrooms are edible.
And as technology has increased, fewer farmers have this knowledge as well. It is all stored in a
computer program, instead of in their minds.
It is no secret that housewives have been a disappearing commodity. With housewives, cooking and
sewing have also vanished. Although we used to bring pants with rips in them to Mom for mending,
we now throw them away and buy a new pair. A child might have come home

Are we too dependent on computers?
When we talk about computers, people often relate computers with modern technologies. Computer
is a tool that helps us make things in our life easier. People use computers in business, public
services, educations, even entertainment. Our daily activities are more and more based closely on
the working of computer. Almost everything we do is affected by modern technology and computers.
I would say that I agree that people nowadays depend on computers too much. Firstly, computers
controlled cars, planes, ships and other vehicles, so that we can travel safely.
Computer is the backbone of most institutions and colleges nowadays. Computer is a popular device
among college students. Students get...show more content...
Computers help us to keep in touch with friends or families that live too far away to visit. We are
also exposed to information and knowledge. We can release our stress by playing the computer
games when we come home from work or school. People have increasingly relied on computers
nowadays.
Moreover, people tend to become lazy to think with presence of computer and technology.
Most people rely on computers too much will make them forget their own strengths. People are
concerned that vital skills can be lost by next generations as computer technology slowly replaces
the traditional ways of working.
However, computer affects human health if human spend most of their time facing the
computer. When we are asked whether we face the computer most of the time, most of us choose
to deny or ignore it because we are scared to admit it. Denial or ignorance is a type of resistance.
In a research, people are highly exposed to health risks as they spend most of their time sitting in
front of the computers to get their work done. We will have eye pain and backache if we face the
computer over a long period. We will also face tired eyes, dizziness and other symptoms. This will
also affect other parts of our body, such as brain, neck and fingers. We should not deny or ignore
these health symptoms as it could affect our life.

Dependence on anything at all is not a good idea if one sacrifice's the ability to think for oneself.
It is always advisable to use a range of strategies to manage one's life. Having said that, I'm
wondering what you mean by dependence. It's hard to imagine anyone not being able to live
without computers. It is a fact that in today's world computers open up one's life to a broader and
deeper range of information and knowledge than has previously been available to ordinary people.
To not avail oneself of using a computer would be a shame. It is the technology of today: the increase
one's independence. I love them and I would miss them if notavailable but it wouldn't be the end of
the world
This technology was developed to make things easier for us. However, too much dependence on
computers is not a good thing for the following reasons: 1) because these things make our lives
easier, being too dependent on them makes us not use our minds that often anymore; 2) because
these are machines, there is a possibility of them bogging down and if they do, just think of how
you would feel if you rely on them for almost everything...and get this. don't you notice that when
you are rushing some work on the computer, that's when it chooses to function slowly or even not to

but do you think our reliance on these electronics is getting a little out of hand? For example we
can access our bank accounts just by opening an application on your smart phone. That's crazy!
We have the opportunity to store so much of our personal information on these devices which is

Depending on what you need to complete, whether it be an essay or a spreadsheet document
computers make these tasks less tedious and frustrating. For example, you have an essay that is
due sometime in the near future and you don't have time to correct the grammatical or spelling
errors, the computer will auto detect your wrong spelling or grammatical errors and help you fix
them fast. Also, computers give you a large variety of ways you can display the information you
are trying to portray. An example of that would be PowerPoint. PowerPoint is a program that gives
you many different options to make your message appealing and satisfying. You can change the
backgrounds, fonts, text boxes, even the way your slide transitions to the next slide. The
possibilities of this program are endless. Also, computers can increase productivity by the kind of
computer you use to present your work with. After you have made the best presentation in the
history of presentations, you need to prove yourself. You can use your smart phone or tablet to
display the information you want to display on the projector or screen without being physically
connected to the computer. I don't know about you but that's pretty cool. I hope now you can now
see how computers increase productivity. Now we will discuss some of the disadvantages of
computers. Even though it is more convenient having your credit card and all your personal

Are We Too Dependent on Computers?
Is our society too dependent on computers? I, like many Americans today, have become reliant on
the usage of computers. It influences all aspects of my life by bringing about a new level of
convenience. Computers are a part of our everyday lives whether we like it or not. They make
simple tasks much easier and allow us to strive to our full potential. However over the years,
computers have become much more than a tool but necessary part of our lives. They have replaced
almost every important contrivance humans have. Today computers replace the way we conduct our

superiority. Computers are not being used as...show more content...
To compete with your classmates having a personal computer is not a convenience, but a
requirement. Next, computers change the way we supply our food. With the population growing
at such a rapid rate researchers are experimenting with new ways to supply mass amounts of food.
Food is becoming more and more scarce but with the implication of genetically modifying foods
through the use of computers gives hope to supplying more than enough food. In the debate, "Are
We Too Dependent On Computers?", Debate.org states that "50% farming in US will stop
without computers." What Debate.org is trying to explain is that our society would fall apart
without the use of computers. They explain that the farmers have had to adopt new ways and
leave their old traditional ways in order to supply the amount of food that the population needs.
This dependence on new technology creates a population reliant on computers for research
purposes and yielding large amounts of crops. Soon farming will need computers and the
traditional ways of farming will be lost forever. Computers used to be used to research how to grow
large amounts of crops but now they used as a necessary part to control and research huge
agriculture businesses. The reliance on computers to generate our food shows that we have abused the
computer instead of finding new ways to feed our rapid growing population. Over the years

fifty years our civilization has changed dramatically. Communication with friends and family has
become as easy as the click of the mouse. Also we have saved countless trees by using electronic
mail instead of paper mail. I agree that it is in our best interest to continue to use technology in the
future. However, I feel that we all should get into the mindset of having a contingency plan in case
we lose it. It is hard to go anywhere now days without interacting with a computer. A lot of jobs now
require that you fill out applications on the internet. It has also become crucial that you have basic
computer skills to be employed in any office setting. In 1994 only 3% of public schools had
internet access. In just over ten years in 2005 that number had jumped to 94% of all public
schools now having internet access. (US Department of Education) This just goes to show how
fast technology is really growing. I feel that we are way to acceptant of something new and need to
realize the repercussions before jumping right in. So many people rely on technology in their
everyday lives. It could be from using your cell

In Today's World People Depend Too Much On Computers and Technology
Are we too dependent on computers? The answer is yes! In today's society, people use computers
in business, education, and in the entertainment world. Almost everything we do and every aspect
of our life is affected by modern technology with computers at the top of the list. People obsess
over computers. The computers do everything for us so we don't have to use our brains anymore.
People are losing their jobs due to the computers moving into the workplace. They are making
society dumber by the day. Society today is too dependent on computers because we use them for
everything, we don't have the social interaction that we once had, and technology makes us lazy.

Last but not least, technology makes us lazy. Children do not want to read books anymore when
they can just run to a computer and get the summary of the book. People are becoming obese
because they are not getting out of their homes anymore to exercise because they are glued to
Farmville on Facebook. We rather do something easy than actually take the time to do it the long
way around. Technology has made the people of the world couch potatoes. We can do everything
at a push of a button, and we don't have to put forth much effort to do the things that we once use
to do manually. Some people may say that the world does not rely too much on computers. I do
agree that computers have done some wonderful things. They make it to where deployed soldiers
can see their children and wives from anywhere as long as they have a web cam, advanced
computer–based systems are used to examine delicate organs of the body. Some of the complex
surgeries can be performed with the aid of computers, but I feel that the bad outweighs the good.
People that don't agree with me don't think about the children that spend so much time on the
computer that their grades start dropping at school, the children that fall prey to pedophiles, or the
children that commit suicide over cyber bullying. Those people don't think about the people that get
their identity stolen right out from underneath them.

are also errors in programming, bugs that need to be fixed long after the product is out on the

One can also design a storage server on the network in order to have a huge storage capacity. *
Increased Cost Efficiency: There are many softwares available in the market which are costly and
take time for installation. Computer networks resolve this issue as the software can be stored or
installed on a system or a server and can be used by the different workstations.
Disadvantages of Computer Networks
Following are some of the major disadvantages of computer networks. * Security Issues: One of
the major drawbacks of computer networks is the security issues involved. If a computer is a
standalone, physical access becomes necessary for any kind of data theft. However, if a
computer is on a network, a computer hacker can get unauthorized access by using different tools.
In case of big organizations, various network security softwares are used to prevent the theft of
any confidential and classified data. * Rapid Spread of Computer Viruses: If any computer system
in a network gets affected by computer virus, there is a possible threat of other systems getting
affected too. Viruses get spread on a network easily because of the interconnectivity of workstations.
Such spread can be dangerous if the computers have important database which can get corrupted by
the virus. * Expensive Set Up: The initial set up cost of a computer network can be high depending
on the number of computers to be connected. Costly devices like routers,

More and more people are turning to online dating websites and social networks to meet people
and make new friendships by simply filling out a detailed profile of different people linking with
their common interest. Some may argue that this is not a natural way of developing relationships.
Relationships are not as simple as logging on to a computer and chatting with someone you don't
really know. With that comes the risk of revealing too much personal information and putting
yourself at risk. In August 2003 alone, 40 million unique users visited online dating sites in the
United States alone, this was according to Andreo Fiore (qtd. in U.S. News & World Report). The
use of technology does not only have social negative impact. Diane K. Danielson who is the CEO
and the founder of the Downtown Women's Club, a women's networking organization, she wrote on
January 2009 that, "Americans are relying more and more on personal digital assistants (PDAs) with
e–mail access. But surveys show we're not using these devices to reign in our work hours; instead
we're adopting technology to help us work harder, faster and longer." This tells us that such
innovations are taking our leisure time away.
Let us try to pause for a moment and examine closely the hold and effects modern technology has on
our lifestyle. We should count the number of hours we spend just chatting away, playing computer
games, or surfing endlessly. How much do we spare

taken over the lives of many, especially children. Each year younger children are being introduced to
new technology to help them learn and grow, but the effects of this may be different from what is
expected. Rather than seeing growth, the overuse of technology is leading to many issues, including
a decline in creativity, less active lifestyles, and difficulty falling asleep. The growing

physically.

Also, the parents are the ones who are buying the games and the food that the children eat, so it
can't be blamed on the children. Others believe that the ads and commercials are nearly irresistible to
children, and parents are just trying to keep their children happy. Whatever the case, the major cause
of it is the technology (Browning).
Another source of the overdependence of technology in children is school. At school, they are
introduced to technology at a very young age, sometimes even in preschool. Children are introduced
to calculators at a very young age, helping them with math problems they should be able to do in
their heads. The teachers are encouraging it so the students don't take the time to learn how to do it
out and then struggle when they have no calculator. Also, children today are proven to have much
worse handwriting than in the past. They are now expected to type English essays and in elementary
school; many aren't taught cursive but rather how to use computers. For example, in 2009, 97
percent of teachers had at least one computer in their room, and out of that, 93 percent of the
computers were connected to the Internet (Gray, Thomas, Lewis). Intelligence is continuously
decreasing due to all of the shortcuts children now are able to take advantage of. In some aspects,
the advancements are really aiding students. They have almost any information they can imagine
wherever they go, just by going to Google. Typing is neat and

Speech On Dependence On Technology
Technology is used by all. Humans are gradually improving by depending on the magic of
technology. There is no doubt that technology has brought millions of wonders in our lives, be it in
the field of agriculture, economics, politics or even academics. However, are we really able to
surpass our capabilities with the use of technology? In my humble opinion, the dependence on
technology has actually not helped us to exceed our limits but constrained our abilities to
communicate and be creative; all due to being heavily reliant on technology. So, I would say,
dependence on technology has indeed brought negative effects on our creativity as well as our
communication skills. For technology to further refine our competence on communication is
definitely out of its range....show more content...
Technology has also affected our creativity. The simplest definition of creativity is to think about
new things or new ways to solve something. Creativity is not only what artists or writers have –––
we too are granted a sense of creativity but we abandoned it along the way because we depend on
technology blindly. In the old days, people had no technological devices and spent their time
imagining things that have never been discovered or invented. They had time to think intensively
while people now have none due to the overuse of technology while keeping up to the pace of the
world today. See? This is why technology has affected our creativity. We have lost the effort on
thinking new ways to accomplish something when everyone is merely depending on advanced
technology. In just a few touches on the screen, we are able to get answers so easily that we
aren't able to think out of the box. We only use templates that are provided by technology, as if it is
all just a dead formula for us to follow. This phenomenon is devastating as we are limiting ourselves

Disadvantages Of Dependence On Computer
In our generation today, people are most likely to be dependent on computers. For students,
computers and other gadgets are useful specially on data gathering and for finding very specific
information. On other hand, computers are also a huge factor why students are slacking off. On a
positive outlook, when connected to the Internet, computers allow users to near–instantly
communicate with people all over the world and to access a vast amount of information, resources,
and entertainment. Since computers and internet is widespread, we can also be connected with
people around the world. As for entertainment and information, it is more accessible if using
computers since you get data from specific websites which tackles or specializes the area or...show

We Are Too Dependent On Computer Systems Essay
We Are Too Dependent on Computer Systems It is said by Ray Kurzweil that in 15 years,
computers will be smarter than the whole human race (Khomami). Is there any shred of truth to that
statement and if so is it a problem? As a society, we are very dependent on software systems and
computer technologies. We would be rendered almost completely helpless without our laptops,
internet, and smart phones. While they generally make our lives easier, we have grown to need
software technologies to an unhealthy extent.
Starting from an early age, people depend on software. Children sit in their car seat and ask for
mommy's tablet to play games; often times children choose computer games over playing outside.
Because smart phones are simply handheld computers, pre–teens, teenagers, and many adults are
glued to their phones for a solid portion of the day.
They have what is now called "checking habits" by a study in the journal Personal and Ubiquitous
Computing (Khomami). This is where a person checks their applications or emails about every 10
minutes for about a minute or so. There is no reason to do it such as a notification or text, it's just
frequently checking to see what updates have happened while you were away. According to Kleiner
Perkins Caufield & Byers 's annual Internet Trends report, people check their phones on average 150
times a day (Stern). The study asserts that it is an unconscious habit that is only another form of
addiction (Khomami).

Dependence On Computers Essay

  • 1. Dependency In Technology Essay Today we live in a modern age where technological development is one of the greatest gifts to humanity. Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems and methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a pre–existing solution to a problem, achieve a goal, handle an applied input/output relation or perform a specific function (Wikipedia). It also refer to the collection of such tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures. We live in a technological society and we expect our machines to work. We take technologies for granted and, not to put too fine a point in it. When they fail, it seems like civilization is crashing around our ears (Matthew, 1999). While speaking about technology and dependency at the same time, one may directly think of computers due to their remarkable capabilities to make humans dependent on them because these machines reduce work pressure as well as the time needed to finish a specific task. Computers are programmable machines, their main characteristic is responding to a specific set of instructions (Wikipedia). It is arguable that computer dependencies is not as bad as some think. Noticeably, computers play a huge role in supporting humans to overcome daily difficulties such as repetitive tasks, communications and medical interaction. Computers have no doubt became part of most businesses due to its ability to handle a high number of tasks. In Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The younger generation particularly has seized on the strange communication through the Internet. Using chat groups on different subjects they are taking in school, they conduct live conversations by keyboard through the internet. Since computers have been invented, so many people everywhere find themselves dependent on computers. Are we to dependent on computers the question can be answered many different ways but in today's world we use a computer for many different things from playing video games which can be addictive and chatting which can be addictive as well people are spending more and more time on the computer and less time socializing in person. Dependency for computers has grown from all ages and every type of business. Another problem with computers is when a person's interest in computers goes to the extreme and becomes an obsession. Computers make our lives very easy and give us many ways to learn about the things we have an interest in. Computers make it so we can to do various things from the comfort of our own home – People shop online, contact family and friends online, and go to school online. It's easy to save and manage information and entertain ourselves with a variety of games. People can get caught up in computers so much that they forget to socialize out of the computer world. People become addicted to chatting online in various chat rooms and they become addicted to various websites such as face book, my space and twitter. • 3. Cyber Security Essay The human dependence on technology has been increasing rapidly because humans are trying to incorporate technology in every aspect of life. The increasing dependence on technology in today's world has led to an increased level of vulnerability of the private information of the people. Most of the technology being used today is open to attack and can be hacked. According to CFO Magazine Global Business Outlook Survey, 80 percent of the U.S. companies have been hacked successfully [PHYS ORG, website]. Thus, cyber–security is a major concern in today's world. One of the major causes of vulnerabilities found in cyber–security is the acts done by people either performed deliberately or accidentally. Issue One of the major challenges in cyber–security lies in the realm of people. Lack of education and awareness regarding the cyber–threats in the people is an important factor that is increasing the number of data breaches. Despite hearing about different cyber–threats, people do not take it seriously and click on the links in the tainted emails [Insurance Journal, website]. Furthermore, people do not update their passwords for a long time and even ignore the suggestion of keeping a strong password so they can remember the password. Additionally, people download copies of movies and music from unknown sources online and unknowingly put their computer data at risk. According to a recent study performed at the Friedrich–Alexander University in Germany, more than 50 percent of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

From quickly looking up information, to talking to someone across the country, to performing surgery. We are so dependent on computers now that we are no longer teaching cursive writing. Here is KY it is considered an "outdated" form of communication. How will these younger generations read the "Declaration of Independence?" Of course, on a computer, but does it give the same meaning? I do teach both of my daughters cursive handwriting, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Again, I think computers are amazing and great to have around. They make things so much easier, however, we are in trouble if one day they all crash...although, I guess in the same since, paper can burn......show more content... • 5. Overdependence on Computer Argumentative Writing Topic: We are becoming overwhelmingly dependent on computers. Is thisdependence on computers a good thing or should we be more suspicious of their benefits? Introduction Computers are, without a doubt, a useful tool that many of us use every day. Sincetheir invention, people far and wide have become increasingly dependent oncomputers. Computers have found their way into just about every aspect of our lives, and in most cases, they make things easier for us. They allow us to work from home, socialize with our friends and family who live too far away to visit, and they provide an ever–welcome stress relief when we come home from schoolor work and just want to have some fun. But as we increasingly rely on computersto...show more content... But it's not just a matter of behavioural changes –– when a person can't tear themselves away from the screenlong enough to take part in any other activity, it can take a toll on their comfort andhealth. They may experience weight gain, strained eyes, and headaches, amongother unpleasant side–effects. However, it can also be argued that this is not thefault of the computer, but rather the fault of the person.Perhaps the most convincing argument, however, is the issue of safety. Aside fromthe issue of sharing personal information such as full names and addresses, there isalso the bigger issue of stolen personal information. As our dependence oncomputers grows, so does our comfort level with them, and we are more likely tosave personal information to our computer. While it would be nice to think that it isalways perfectly safe to do so, the fact is that there are people who have anynumber of ways to gain access to your personal files, and therefore, any personalinformation stored on your computer. Even if you don't knowingly keep any personal information on your computer, if you bank or shop online at all, it's possible for someone who knows what they're doing to gain access to delicatefinancial information. But these are just examples of issues with household computers. What of the restof the world? Instead of writing a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Society 's Dependence On Technology Jenna Todd Ms. Ammirata Composition 11– Period 1 2 October 2015 Society's Dependency On Technology Today, technology is a ruling factor among our society. Technology is involved in every aspect of our lives. Our dependence on technology has been taken to a whole other level, we are now incredibly dependent on technology. We may be too dependent on technology, but our dependence does not necessarily impact us in negative ways. II. Some say the increasing need for technology, specifically social media, causes social isolation. Since so much time is spent on technology, these days, people tend to forget about the outside world around them (Ramey). "Americans aged 18 and older spend more than 11 hours a day watching TV, listening to the radio or using smartphones and other electronic devices" (Richter). B. However, communication has been greatly improved by advancing technology. Because of technology, it has become more convenient to communicate with those we desire to speak with much more often ("Benefits of Technology"). "Modern technology has made it simple to discover our old friends and discover new people to network with [through social media]" (Ramey). 2. "Modern technology has blessed us with advanced communication technology tools" (Ramey). "These [technology tools] can include e–fax machines, electronic mail, mobile phones, videoconferencing, instant text messaging, applications, social networking applications" (Ramey). III. Some, such as Amazon.com, are run only on the Internet. If the internet were to shut down, a lot of people would be without jobs. We have gradually become more and more dependent on technology. As a result, we have become weaker. In terms of Darwin's "only the strongest survive" the people of twenty years ago were far superior to the people of today because of their non–dependence on computers. First, there is the obvious decline in physical fitness. For example, in Vermont, the percentage of students who participate in at least three hours of physical activity a week has dropped from 70% to 64% in only...show more content... As a society, we now spend way more time watching television than we do exercising. Quite frankly, we have become as lazy as sloths. However, it is not only in the area of physical fitness that we have become weak. We cannot take care of ourselves without technology like we used to. We are continually losing the knowledge of how to do things by hand. If parts of the power grid were to shut down permanatly, as has already happened for brief periods of time, the results could be horrifying. Last year income of farmers dropped 6.8% nationwide . This decline in income has caused millions of farmers to quit their jobs and search elsewhere for employment. Pretty soon there may not be very many farmers at all, and for all of our technology, without farmers there would still be no food on your table. Twenty years ago, many people had a small garden patch in their backyard. Now we spend our free time watching television or chatting on the Internet. Many of us have no clue when to plant corn, how much water strawberries need, or what kind of mushrooms are edible. And as technology has increased, fewer farmers have this knowledge as well. It is all stored in a computer program, instead of in their minds. It is no secret that housewives have been a disappearing commodity. With housewives, cooking and sewing have also vanished. Although we used to bring pants with rips in them to Mom for mending, we now throw them away and buy a new pair. A child might have come home Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Computer is a tool that helps us make things in our life easier. People use computers in business, public services, educations, even entertainment. Our daily activities are more and more based closely on the working of computer. Almost everything we do is affected by modern technology and computers. Computers help us to keep in touch with friends or families that live too far away to visit. We are also exposed to information and knowledge. We can release our stress by playing the computer games when we come home from work or school. People have increasingly relied on computers nowadays. Moreover, people tend to become lazy to think with presence of computer and technology. Most people rely on computers too much will make them forget their own strengths. People are concerned that vital skills can be lost by next generations as computer technology slowly replaces the traditional ways of working. However, computer affects human health if human spend most of their time facing the computer. When we are asked whether we face the computer most of the time, most of us choose to deny or ignore it because we are scared to admit it. Denial or ignorance is a type of resistance. In a research, people are highly exposed to health risks as they spend most of their time sitting in front of the computers to get their work done. We will have eye pain and backache if we face the computer over a long period. We will also face tired eyes, dizziness and other symptoms. This will also affect other parts of our body, such as brain, neck and fingers. We should not deny or ignore these health symptoms as it could affect our life. The life without computer is impossible for people. Not only computer but, also internet. We are so much dependent on computers. Although PCs make many things esaier for us, there are some evidence that depending on computers brings negative results. Supporters of dependence on computers a good thing say that we can learn easily information about whatever we want, find a friend who live to other cities, and work from home on computers. Dependence on anything at all is not a good idea if one sacrifice's the ability to think for oneself. It is always advisable to use a range of strategies to manage one's life. Having said that, I'm wondering what you mean by dependence. It's hard to imagine anyone not being able to live without computers. It is a fact that in today's world computers open up one's life to a broader and deeper range of information and knowledge than has previously been available to ordinary people. To not avail oneself of using a computer would be a shame. It is the technology of today: the increase one's independence. I love them and I would miss them if notavailable but it wouldn't be the end of the world This technology was developed to make things easier for us. However, too much dependence on computers is not a good thing for the following reasons: 1) because these things make our lives easier, being too dependent on them makes us not use our minds that often anymore; 2) because these are machines, there is a possibility of them bogging down and if they do, just think of how you would feel if you rely on them for almost everything...and get this. don't you notice that when you are rushing some work on the computer, that's when it chooses to function slowly or even not to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For example we can access our bank accounts just by opening an application on your smart phone. That's crazy! I, like many Americans today, have become reliant on the usage of computers. It influences all aspects of my life by bringing about a new level of convenience. Computers are a part of our everyday lives whether we like it or not. They make simple tasks much easier and allow us to strive to our full potential. However over the years, computers have become much more than a tool but necessary part of our lives. Next, computers change the way we supply our food. With the population growing at such a rapid rate researchers are experimenting with new ways to supply mass amounts of food. Food is becoming more and more scarce but with the implication of genetically modifying foods through the use of computers gives hope to supplying more than enough food. In the debate, "Are We Too Dependent On Computers?", Debate.org states that "50% farming in US will stop without computers." What Debate.org is trying to explain is that our society would fall apart without the use of computers. They explain that the farmers have had to adopt new ways and leave their old traditional ways in order to supply the amount of food that the population needs. This dependence on new technology creates a population reliant on computers for research purposes and yielding large amounts of crops. Soon farming will need computers and the traditional ways of farming will be lost forever. Computers used to be used to research how to grow large amounts of crops but now they used as a necessary part to control and research huge agriculture businesses. The reliance on computers to generate our food shows that we have abused the computer instead of finding new ways to feed our rapid growing population. If you were to ask somebody what a computer was sixty years ago they would look at you look at you puzzled. Now days it is hard to find a household or office in America that does not contain at least one personal computer. With all of this information at our finger tips, we have to ask ourselves if we are becoming too dependent on technology. Imagine if we were to wake up tomorrow with all electronic devices disabled. A lot of people believe that we are not too dependent on technology. I spoke to my brother; he stated we just utilize it like we would automobiles or anything else like that. There is no denying the benefits of technology, however, I believe we should not get ahead of ourselves. Over the last fifty years our civilization has changed dramatically. Communication with friends and family has become as easy as the click of the mouse. Also we have saved countless trees by using electronic mail instead of paper mail. I agree that it is in our best interest to continue to use technology in the future. However, I feel that we all should get into the mindset of having a contingency plan in case we lose it. It is hard to go anywhere now days without interacting with a computer. A lot of jobs now require that you fill out applications on the internet. It has also become crucial that you have basic computer skills to be employed in any office setting. In 1994 only 3% of public schools had internet access. In just over ten years in 2005 that number had jumped to 94% of all public schools now having internet access. (US Department of Education) This just goes to show how fast technology is really growing. I feel that we are way to acceptant of something new and need to realize the repercussions before jumping right in. So many people rely on technology in their everyday lives. In today's society, people use computers in business, education, and in the entertainment world. Almost everything we do and every aspect of our life is affected by modern technology with computers at the top of the list. People obsess over computers. The computers do everything for us so we don't have to use our brains anymore. People are losing their jobs due to the computers moving into the workplace. They are making society dumber by the day. Last but not least, technology makes us lazy. Children do not want to read books anymore when they can just run to a computer and get the summary of the book. People are becoming obese because they are not getting out of their homes anymore to exercise because they are glued to Farmville on Facebook. We rather do something easy than actually take the time to do it the long way around. Technology has made the people of the world couch potatoes. We can do everything at a push of a button, and we don't have to put forth much effort to do the things that we once use to do manually. Some people may say that the world does not rely too much on computers. I do agree that computers have done some wonderful things. They make it to where deployed soldiers can see their children and wives from anywhere as long as they have a web cam, advanced computer–based systems are used to examine delicate organs of the body. Some of the complex surgeries can be performed with the aid of computers, but I feel that the bad outweighs the good. People that don't agree with me don't think about the children that spend so much time on the computer that their grades start dropping at school, the children that fall prey to pedophiles, or the children that commit suicide over cyber bullying. Those people don't think about the people that get their identity stolen right out from underneath them. In Conclusion, when we Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Is Our Society to Dependent of Computers Is Our Society too Dependent on Computers? Computers have found their way into just about every aspect of our lives, and in most cases, they make things easier for us. They allow people to work from home, socialize with friends and family, and they provide an ever–welcome stress relief from school or work. Since their invention, people far and wide have become increasingly dependent on computers. Children today are growing up in a world where computers are needed to do everything from controlling vicious heat seeking missiles to saving lives. The computers role in education is growing with increasing investments and technological innovation. The computer is a good thing, but the world must proceed with caution and a critical eye. As...show more content... Many end up in landfills. These are just examples of issues with household computers. Instead of writing a check, people whip out their debit/ credit cards to pay for things when they are short on cash. What happens when the internet goes down and they are stuck in the checkout line with two hundred dollars worth of groceries, and no way to pay for them because they do not have a blank check? What happens when everyone is driving their fancy, futuristic cars that run on a computer chip and something goes wrong? In a few hundred years, will anyone know how to drive the cars of today? People put their computers through a lot of grief because they don't quite know what they're doing when they decide to fix a problem or clean up their hard drive, but there are also errors in programming, bugs that need to be fixed long after the product is out on the market, and there are always people trying to ruin a perfectly good thing with nasty computer viruses. Perhaps the most convincing argument, however, is the issue of safety. Aside from the issue of sharing personal information such as full names and addresses, there is also the bigger issue of stolen personal information. As our dependence on computers grows, so does our comfort level with them, people are more likely to save personal information to our computer. While it would be nice to think that it is always perfectly safe to do so, the fact is that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Dependency on Computer Lots of people accept the most invention that is computer. While people didn't need to computers in the days of old, nowadays computers are used almost everywhere. We know that science and teconology will be more developed, our life can easier use computers. However, such an argument completely ignores that...show more content... One can also design a storage server on the network in order to have a huge storage capacity. * Increased Cost Efficiency: There are many softwares available in the market which are costly and take time for installation. Computer networks resolve this issue as the software can be stored or installed on a system or a server and can be used by the different workstations. Disadvantages of Computer Networks Following are some of the major disadvantages of computer networks. * Security Issues: One of the major drawbacks of computer networks is the security issues involved. If a computer is a standalone, physical access becomes necessary for any kind of data theft. However, if a computer is on a network, a computer hacker can get unauthorized access by using different tools. In case of big organizations, various network security softwares are used to prevent the theft of any confidential and classified data. * Rapid Spread of Computer Viruses: If any computer system in a network gets affected by computer virus, there is a possible threat of other systems getting affected too. Viruses get spread on a network easily because of the interconnectivity of workstations. Such spread can be dangerous if the computers have important database which can get corrupted by the virus. * Expensive Set Up: The initial set up cost of a computer network can be high depending on the number of computers to be connected. • 16. Human Dependency on Technology Essays Humans are now living in an era that's nothing like the world has ever seen before, the Information era. According to Market Information and Statistics Division, in 2009, an estimated 26 per cent of the world's population (or 1.7 billion people) were using the Internet. In developed countries the percentage remains much higher than in the developing world where four out of five people are still excluded from the benefits of being online. We are constantly being introduced to new additions and forms of technology. Many of these items which we are introduced to are made to "make our life easier." For example computers are made to compress many technological pieces together that we can use to complete many different tasks. As these items help...show more content... More and more people are turning to online dating websites and social networks to meet people and make new friendships by simply filling out a detailed profile of different people linking with their common interest. Some may argue that this is not a natural way of developing relationships. Relationships are not as simple as logging on to a computer and chatting with someone you don't really know. With that comes the risk of revealing too much personal information and putting yourself at risk. In August 2003 alone, 40 million unique users visited online dating sites in the United States alone, this was according to Andreo Fiore (qtd. in U.S. News & World Report). The use of technology does not only have social negative impact. Diane K. Danielson who is the CEO and the founder of the Downtown Women's Club, a women's networking organization, she wrote on January 2009 that, "Americans are relying more and more on personal digital assistants (PDAs) with e–mail access. But surveys show we're not using these devices to reign in our work hours; instead we're adopting technology to help us work harder, faster and longer." This tells us that such innovations are taking our leisure time away. Let us try to pause for a moment and examine closely the hold and effects modern technology has on our lifestyle. We should count the number of hours we spend just chatting away, playing computer games, or surfing endlessly. How much do we spare Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Over-dependence on Technology Essay Regina Fleck has an iPhone 7 and she admits, "I no longer feel frustrated or impatient. That emotion now manifests in me as a desire to check my e–mail." (Tran). All around the world, technology has taken over the lives of many, especially children. Each year younger children are being introduced to new technology to help them learn and grow, but the effects of this may be different from what is expected. Rather than seeing growth, the overuse of technology is leading to many issues, including a decline in creativity, less active lifestyles, and difficulty falling asleep. The growing overdependence on and overuse of technology is affecting young children both mentally and physically. Throughout the world, but in America especially,...show more content... Also, the parents are the ones who are buying the games and the food that the children eat, so it can't be blamed on the children. Others believe that the ads and commercials are nearly irresistible to children, and parents are just trying to keep their children happy. Whatever the case, the major cause of it is the technology (Browning). Another source of the overdependence of technology in children is school. At school, they are introduced to technology at a very young age, sometimes even in preschool. Children are introduced to calculators at a very young age, helping them with math problems they should be able to do in their heads. The teachers are encouraging it so the students don't take the time to learn how to do it out and then struggle when they have no calculator. Also, children today are proven to have much worse handwriting than in the past. They are now expected to type English essays and in elementary school; many aren't taught cursive but rather how to use computers. For example, in 2009, 97 percent of teachers had at least one computer in their room, and out of that, 93 percent of the computers were connected to the Internet (Gray, Thomas, Lewis). Intelligence is continuously decreasing due to all of the shortcuts children now are able to take advantage of. In some aspects, the advancements are really aiding students. They have almost any information they can imagine wherever they go, just by going to Google. Typing is neat and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Speech On Dependence On Technology Technology is used by all. Humans are gradually improving by depending on the magic of technology. There is no doubt that technology has brought millions of wonders in our lives, be it in the field of agriculture, economics, politics or even academics. However, are we really able to surpass our capabilities with the use of technology? In my humble opinion, the dependence on technology has actually not helped us to exceed our limits but constrained our abilities to communicate and be creative; all due to being heavily reliant on technology. So, I would say, dependence on technology has indeed brought negative effects on our creativity as well as our communication skills. For technology to further refine our competence on communication is definitely out of its range....show more content... Technology has also affected our creativity. The simplest definition of creativity is to think about new things or new ways to solve something. Creativity is not only what artists or writers have ––– we too are granted a sense of creativity but we abandoned it along the way because we depend on technology blindly. In the old days, people had no technological devices and spent their time imagining things that have never been discovered or invented. They had time to think intensively while people now have none due to the overuse of technology while keeping up to the pace of the world today. See? This is why technology has affected our creativity. We have lost the effort on thinking new ways to accomplish something when everyone is merely depending on advanced technology. In just a few touches on the screen, we are able to get answers so easily that we aren't able to think out of the box. We only use templates that are provided by technology, as if it is all just a dead formula for us to follow. This phenomenon is devastating as we are limiting ourselves from being able to innovate. I am sure to say that depending on technology isn't helping us on being creative Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For students, computers and other gadgets are useful specially on data gathering and for finding very specific information. On other hand, computers are also a huge factor why students are slacking off. On a positive outlook, when connected to the Internet, computers allow users to near–instantly communicate with people all over the world and to access a vast amount of information, resources, and entertainment. Since computers and internet is widespread, we can also be connected with people around the world. • 20. We Are Too Dependent On Computer Systems Essay We Are Too Dependent on Computer Systems It is said by Ray Kurzweil that in 15 years, computers will be smarter than the whole human race (Khomami). Is there any shred of truth to that statement and if so is it a problem? As a society, we are very dependent on software systems and computer technologies. We would be rendered almost completely helpless without our laptops, internet, and smart phones. While they generally make our lives easier, we have grown to need software technologies to an unhealthy extent. Starting from an early age, people depend on software. Children sit in their car seat and ask for mommy's tablet to play games; often times children choose computer games over playing outside. Because smart phones are simply handheld computers, pre–teens, teenagers, and many adults are glued to their phones for a solid portion of the day. They have what is now called "checking habits" by a study in the journal Personal and Ubiquitous Computing (Khomami). This is where a person checks their applications or emails about every 10 minutes for about a minute or so. There is no reason to do it such as a notification or text, it's just frequently checking to see what updates have happened while you were away. According to Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers 's annual Internet Trends report, people check their phones on average 150 times a day (Stern). The study asserts that it is an unconscious habit that is only another form of addiction (Khomami).
