Dr Kalam: India's Missile Man and Former President

2. INTRODUCTION
Avul Palkir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam,was the 11th
president of india from 2002 to 2007 . A career
scientist turned stateman, Kamal was born and
raised in rameshwaram ,tamil nadu and studied
physics and aerospace engineering.
He spent the next four decades as a scientist and
a science administrator,mainly at the DEFENCE
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
ORGANISATION (DRDO) and INDIAN
RESEARCH ORGANISATION (ISRO) and was
intimately involved in indian space programme and
military MISSILE DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS.He
thus came to be known as the “MISSILE MAN OF
INDIA”

5. Dr Kalam expired on Monday 27 July 2015. He
suddenly fell unconscious when he was delivering
a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management
at Shillong. On 30 July 2015, the former President
was laid to rest at Rameswaram's Pei Karumbu
Ground with full state honours. Over 350,000
people attended the last rites, including the Prime
Minister, the governor of Tamil Nadu and the chief
ministers of Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra
Pradesh.

8. He leads a very simple life,and still after assuming the office of the
1st citizen of INDIA he remains same.
In rashtrapathi bhaban he sets up a research centre and continues
his work.
He loves the little children and establishes a number of free
primary schools for them
