There are four brother and one sister.
3. Abdul kalam personal life was full of struggle and
hard work. Kalam, s father was a devout Muslim ,
Who owned boats which he rented out to local
fisherman and was a good friend of Hindu religious
leaders and the school teachers at rameshwaram . A.P.J
Abdul kalam mention in his biography that to support
his studies , he started his career as a newspaper
vendor. On Wednesday April 29,2009 , Abdul kalam
became the first Asian to be bestowed the Hoover
Medal , America’ s top engineering prize , for his out
standing contribution to public services.
4. In his school years , kalam had
average graders but was described as a
bright and hardworking student who
had a strong desire to learn . He spent
hours on his studies , especially
mathematics . After completing his
education at the Schwartz higher
secondary school ,Ramanathapuram ,
kalam went to attend saint Joseph
college , tiruchirappalli , then affiliated
with the university of Madras , from
where he graduated in physics in 1954.
5. After graduating in physics from st.joseph’s college in
tiruchirapalli, Abdul kalam graduated with a diploma in the mid
1950 from madras institute of technology specializing in
Aeronautical engineering . As the Project Director , he was heavily
involved in the development of India indigenous Satellite launch
Vehicle (SLV- ııı ) . As chief executive of Integrated guided missile
development program (IGMDP) , he also played a major part In
developing many missiles of India including Agni and Prithivi.
Although the entire project has been criticized for being overrun
and mismanaged . He was the chief scientific advisor to Prime
minister and sectary, depart of defense research & Development
from July 1992 to December 1999.
6. Kalam belief in the power of technology to resolve society ‘s
problem and his views of these problems as a result of inefficient
distribution of resources in modernistic .
He also see science and technology as ideology-free areas and
emphasizes the cultivation of scientific temper enterperunial
drive.
In this , he find a lot of support among India’s news business
leaders like the founder of Infosys and Wipro etc. who began his
career as technology professional much in the same way Kalam
did.
Hiidis book “India 2020” strongly advocated an action plan to
develop India into a knowledge superpower into a developed
nation by the year .
He regard his work India’s nuclear weapon program as a way
to arrest India place as a future superpower.
7. He helped in the of first satellite launch vehicle SLV-3 in 1980 which
helped India to become the member of space club by injecting Rohini,
in earth nearest orbit.
He played a pivotal organization , technical and the political role in
the India’s Pokhran -11 nuclear test 1998.
Dr . Kalam has served as the principle scientific advisor to the Govt.
of India , in the cabinet minister , from November 1999 to November
2001.
Dr. kalam was also the chairman , Ex-officio , of the scientific
advisory committee to the cabinet (SAC-C).
He served as a principle scientific advisor to the defense minster and
later govt. of India (1999-2001) and was responsible for evolving
policies, strategories and missions for many development application .
8. The 5 project were scheduled to be complete in a time
frame of only in 10 years and consisted of :-
Nag- an anti guided missile .
Prithvi- a surface-to-surface battlefield missile.
Akash- a swift, medium –range surface-to- air missile
Trishul-a quick reaction surface to air missile with a
shorter range.
Agni –an intermediate range ballistic missile , the
mightiest.
9. He is the first scientist and a bachelor to
become a president.
He was also awarded by padam bushan
award and bharat rattan award.
He also got Nobel prize.
He received Dr. brien Roy space award.
He also got National Nehru Award.
He also got Araya Baht Award.
