2. Song
The song I have chosen to use for my music video
production is ‘To Build A Home’ by The Cinematic
Orchestra. This song is about the loss of a partner,
reminiscing on what they had as a couple and the love that
had built up between them, highlighting the fact that one of
them is now alone and no longer happy.
I chose this song because it has a strong meaning behind
it, allowing me to create a storyline within the video which I
believe maintains the audiences interest and leaving an
impact behind.
3. Clothing
I am going to dress my model in a loose fitting shirt and
trainers as this looks casual, loose and will compliment the
style of dance incorporated within the video.
Within the video there are a couple of flashbacks focusing
back on when her partner was still alive and when she was
happy so within these scenes I am going to make her wear
a top that says ‘LOVE’ on it which will help add to the
atmosphere and differentiate the two separate
environments.
4. Location
For one location I am going to use an empty field as this
will emphasise the loneliness of the female and ensures
that she is the main focus in the video.
My other location is going to be a house where she goes
home to write a note for her deceased partner, using
features such as stairs and a table to assist this scene and
her actions.
5. Other
I am going to film my video in black and white as I think this
will look effective, adding to the emotional side of the video
whilst also making it look professional and sophisticated.
I am going to incorporate some contemporary dance as this
is an effective way to express emotion and heartbreak
through the moves used, also allowing me to use various
angles to film it.
I am also going to make sure that my model uses direct mode
of address as this will involve the audience, letting them in on
how she is feeling and making it more personal.
6. Feedback
I handed around a feedback form to the class whilst presenting
my pitch so that I could retrieve their thoughts on my ideas.
Overall my feedback was extremely positive, with the class
approving of my song choice due to the fact that it has an
emotional storyline behind it which will allow me to connect with
the audience on a deeper level and that the use of contemporary
dance within the video will help express her pain and emotion.
They liked my choice of locations and said that the field will
compliment the dance within the video, making my model stand
out against the background. As constructive criticism someone
told me to make sure that I don’t just stand in one position the
whole time and to place the camera facing different ways and
directions so that the setting doesn’t get too repetitive which I will
take on board.
