Cross media convergence involves combining different forms of media, such as during production, distribution, or exhibition. Synergy occurs when multiple products from the same company work together to promote each other, providing mutual benefits. For the movie The Inbetweeners, synergy was used by simultaneously releasing the film soundtrack and a yearbook from the movie, encouraging fans to purchase both to experience all the music and content related to the film. Releasing the soundtrack and yearbook together boosted sales of each product.

A soundtrack was released featuring the songs played
throughout the film. This enabled people who watched the
film to buy the soundtrack featuring songs from iconic
parts of the film. 8 of the songs featured in the soundtrack
were only able for purchase on the album. This means if
someone wanted to buy one of the songs they would have
to buy them all.
As we know, the film stars four characters who have just
left sixth form. A yearbook was released in shops for fans
to buy.
