By continuing to run camps and activities that take a further in depth view it may be possible to
discover that changes may develop in other areas aside from just the social aspect. It is highly likely
that increases in mental, emotional, and physical performance occur as well. However a trained and
certified TR professional running the camp would know how to better conduct assessments and
implement methods to plan an intervention in comparison to a TR intern. A major study that could
come from this research is measuring the difference in social performance when the camp is
completely administered by licensed TR professionals. While doing so it would also be a
stupendous idea to measure all four domains and really understand which domain benefits most
from a camp

Personal Narrative: Summer Camp Therapy
I had been working at Aviator Sports and Events Center for about three years. During those three
years, I have been an after school counselor and a summer camp counselor. I have interacted with
many different kinds of kids that had behavioral problems, special needs and that don't have any
problems at all. During my second summer working at Aviator, my manager had placed a particular
child in my group. This child had Autism. It my first time dealing with a child with this diagnosis.
When I found out that this child would be in my group, I wasn't sure what to expect since I never
experienced it before. The first couple of days I became very observant to see how she interacted
with other campers during certain activities, with other counselors

Summer Camp For Foster Kids Essay
There are many benefits of summer camp for foster kids and their foster parents. For the parents,
fostering is not always the easiest task. You can love your foster child with everything in you, but
fostering comes with its own set of challenges and everyone needs the occasional break. The child
can go and have a positive experience at camp, while the foster parents destress and take some time
for themselves. Top 7 Benefits of Summer Camp for Foster Kids Siblings: Summer camp for foster
kids is also a chance for siblings to get together. There are times when it isn't possible to place
sibling groups together, but one of the main benefits of summer camp for foster kids is getting to see
brothers and sisters the children truly miss. This also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their social skills might not be where they should be for their ages. However, summer camp
counselors can find the unique qualities and skills of each child and help them learn new social
skills they might not learn in their ordinary day–to–day lives. Happy Memories: Your foster child
might only stay with you for a short time. Even though officials might have the best of intentions,
there are times that the child goes back into a home that is still dysfunctional or becomes that way
again. Summer camp gives the child happy memories to focus on during this difficult times. A Fresh
Start: Another one of the benefits of summer camp for foster kids is that it allows the child to come
to a place where no one knows him or her. No one knows what went on before this day. If the child
has acted out at school, he has a chance to start fresh at camp with a new attitude. Like Other Kids:
Summer camp is something many kids put on their summer bucket lists. Attending summer camp
allows a foster child that sense of being just like all the other kids out there. His life might be insane
at home. He may have to overcome challenges, but he is going to summer camp just like John and
Susie in his

Persuasive Friendship
Who knew that switching lunches could change into 8 years of friendship? Well, small, insignificant
things can turn into big things. An example of that would be how my best friend and I met.
SUNNYVALE COMMUNITY CENTER, JULY 2OO9– I sat down on a cold hard cube shaped
stone slab, zipping open my blue and lavender Tinkerbell lunch box. Inside, wrapped in aluminum
foil, was the not–so long awaited PB&J, but instead of bread, there was a tortilla.A tortilla! Who
does that?! Well, it does taste good, but my mom gave it to me so much that I soon got tired of it. I
sighed. The girl next to me sighed a few seconds later. "Why are you sad?" she asked me
inquisitively. "My mom gave a PBJ in a tortilla when I told her not to for the millionth time!" I
exclaimed, and maybe kind of exaggerated. The problem was that I had been to so many summer
camps before, and my mom always gave me the same exact lunch. "Oh," the girl shrugged, "That
sounds delectably good. I got the same boring old spaghetti. Actually, the spaghetti is not really
spaghetti. She also adds some more special sauces. So, do you want to switch lunches?" "OK," I
said. I gave her my lunch, while she gave me her lunch. "I never got your name, by the way." I
mumbled my mouth full of the amazing pasta that was as good as heaven. "Oh yeah!" she
exclaimed, her mouth also filled with food."My name is Adrija! What's your name?" she gulped
down the tortilla. "My name's Soumily," I told her. She seemed like a nice person to be

Title: The Ultimate Guide To Owning Kids? Camp Insurance
Tis The Season
It?s that time of year again. The weather?s getting warmer, the days are getting longer, bugs and
critters are coming out of hibernation, and your child is anxiously looking at the clock, counting the
seconds as they tick by. School?s almost out and summer is right around the corner, which means
that camp season is almost here. If you?re a parent, you?ve definitely heard of summer camp. You?
ve seen the signs for summer camps ?enrolling now!? in the springtime, and you?ve been
researching all the kinds of summer camps offered in your area, whether they?re outdoors or sports

That doesn?t mean you shouldn?t send your kids to summer camp out of fear for their safety. Your
kids deserve the fresh air and sun, the exercise and adventure, the chance to make new friends and
discover new things. And as a parent, you deserve some peace, quiet, and time alone with your child
out of the house. But you can?t truly enjoy that peace and quiet and time alone if you?re constantly
worrying about your child?s safety and wellbeing while they?re out having fun in the sun at summer
camp. There is a lot of intense physical activity during kids? summer camp, especially for sports
camps, and being out in the outdoors can have its risks, whether its taking the wrong step during a
hike and taking a nasty tumble or being exposed to harmful plants and wildlife.
According to the American Camp Association, or the ACA, over eleven million children attend
summer camp every year in the United States. Forty–seven percent of these camps are resident or
overnight camps while twenty–eight percent are exclusively day camps. As for programs, eighty–
seven of camps offer recreational swimming, sixty–seven percent offer camping skills, forty–eight
percent offer climbing or rappelling, thirty–eight percent offer horseback riding, seventy–eight
percent offer teambuilding exercises (which usually involve an outdoor ropes course), twenty–three
percent offer farming, ranching, and gardening, and twenty–eight percent offer wilderness trips.

The Long History Of Summer Camp
The words "summer camp" conjure up fond memories of campfires, s'mores, pranks, and color war
for many Americans. What appeals to many campers, or prospective campers, is the keeping of
tradition. Many campers can trace back their relatives who attended the very same camp, and find
delight in the idea of shared experiences with their close, or distant, relatives. The long history of
summer camps in America stems from an annual trip William Frederick Gunn began to take in 1861
in order to expose young boys to what life in the wilderness has to offer. Originally, the Gunn's
theory was that the experience would "strengthen not merely muscle, nerve, and self–discipline, but
developed a masculine character as well." This applied specifically for boys, but camps for girls first
appeared in 1902 with the opening of Camp Kehonka, in reflection of the changing attitudes with
reference to the role of women in society. Sleepaway camps become a prominent institution in
America in the 1900's that influenced the youth of this country, and continues to do so over one
hundred years later, as thousands of summer camps still run every summer, many of which are the
same camps that sparked this burgeoning trend. The development of this idiosyncratic principle in
American life can be understood through the development of various widespread opinions during,
and before, the first sleepaway camp was founded.
To fully understand the roots of the summer camp ideology, it is imperative to look

Summer Camp Research Paper
When I was eleven, I went to a summer camp where for the first time, I would be apart from my
parents for a week. My local service group was affiliated with it, but I had never before met any of
the people there. Going to summer camp was my first time spending a significant amount of time
people who were different from me. In order to connect with others, I had to change some of my
attitudes. That year and for the next five, I would meet girls that I would have never met ordinarily.
At that camp was the first time that I became friends with people of diverse backgrounds who
appeared different, spoke differently, acted differently, were richer, were poorer and none of it
seemed to matter. All everyone wanted was to be friends with each other and if you were unfriendly
or rude, why would anybody be kind to you? When I first arrived, I became friends with the people
who seemed the most familiar to me, those like me. But I was placed into classes with people who
were not my friends and initially I was upset, but when I went to the classes I found myself having
fun and laughing. Some of those who seemed unlike anyone I had known, were so hilarious that I
just knew that I wanted to be friends with them. I will never forget the girl who made me all but

Her name was Maddie and these two weeks were her chance to escape. Her story opened with her
parents divorce and subsequent ugly relationship. From as far back as she could remember money
was always a source of conflict: her father not paying child support for either her or her brother, her
mother being out of work frequently, and her brother attempting to steal to bankroll his addiction.
But Maddie did not want sympathy or pity she wanted caring and

My Experience Of A Summer Camp
It was a humid, and hot July day. It was an exciting day because my parents, my brother, and I was
going to go to Bermuda very soon. My brother kept yelling at me telling me to hurry up. Really, I
was just too excited, there was not much time left and the great marine adventure awaited. From
when summer started, to July, I was at summer camp. This trip would be the first time this summer
that I actually got to travel with my family. The summer had been pretty boring so far and it was my
last year at this summer camp because I was going to be in 6th grade soon. My brother, Robert,
spent more time there than me because he was going to be in 4th grade in September. I would miss
my summer camp, but at the same time, I wouldn't because it was ... Show more content on

It looked like the ship was tipped over and that was why it was so vertically straight. The boat
looked very old. The instructor told us that the boat carried lots of goods, but then it crashed. Then,
they drove for another 10 minutes. Where are we going? I thought as they were driving. I was
looking at the floor of the boat because it was glass. As I looked down I noticed that when we were
in shallow parts we could see marine animals, but when we were at deeper parts of the water we
could only see water. We drove right on top of the Bermuda triangle. How can we now go on the
Bermuda Triangle? I thought. The Bermuda triangle was said to have sucked people into it and then
the people were never seen again. There are many myths about the Bermuda Triangle but, no one is
sure if any are true. The instructor stated happily, "We are now going to the snorkeling sight!" A
loud cheer erupted. It was about a 10–minute drive to the snorkeling place. When we got there it
was a big space there were rocks on one side that was the island. Which meant we were close to the
island. The most important part the instructor had cautioned us was, "Always have your noodle with
you. If you didn't have your noodle with you it wasn't safe." We were learning on how to be safe in
the water. "When can we finally start?" Robert groaned sitting next to me listening to the
instructions. After a few minutes of gibbering and

"We need to return them better than they were given to us". It was drilled into our heads from day
one of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a statement concerning a
materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater value: the lives of children. You would not
expect such a heavy responsibility from your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we
embarked on adventures that changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the
summer sunshine was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had
developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend how my interaction
with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine. Preparing for this job was not easy: a
twenty hour training period was to be completed weeks before the beginning of camp. Delivered to
us trainees from the voices of first–hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse
and the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Child abuse did not happen mostly in dark alley ways,
but in places that are filled with kids and nearby witnesses, which fit the description of the YMCA

Everyday, when I saw familiar faces or greeted new little ones into my group, I was determined to
protect those children, and give them the summer camp experience they so deserved; unfortunately,
balancing the two was about as easy as taming a cat. Fun for the kids was running off to places that
were too far from my sight, too close to danger. Time and time again, I found myself reeling them in
and keeping them stationed in place, away from the opportunities to explore and enjoy the
campground. My full control of the situation became a necessity, but this was not the way that the
kids would grow. There would always be the shadow of danger when in charge of a large group of
children, but it was up to me to be brave enough to let freedom run, even if it was out of my comfort

Summer Camp Personal Statement
During the summer of 2016, I was a volunteer at the Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre's
Therapeutic Summer Camp. My experience at the camp was a memorable one, since I met a young
boy with ADHD. Though it was difficult to get his attention, his condition made me more aware and
got me to communicate in a more innovate way. By talking about a common interest of ours, the
sport of soccer, I was not telling him instructions or asking him for his attention, but instead giving
him mine. Besides my volunteering at the summer camp, I have been a part of many activities, such
as the VolunTEEN program and the Ridge Meadows Homeshow, all throughout high school and the
experiences have shaped who I am today.
Currently in my third year, I am volunteering at my local hospital and residential home, Baillie
House, through the VolunTEEN program as Team Leader. Being a part of the program has opened
me to a new perspective on health. I have learned to socially adapt and build strong bonds, as well
as initiate ways to help others. Furthermore, hearing residents tell their stories or taking patients
outside for a casual walk allowed me to broaden my understanding and open up as an individual. On

My First Summer Camp
It was the last day of my first summer camp. The night before my Boy Scout troop would pack all
their gear and leaves the coast of the Puget Sound, and return to the suburbs where most of the kids
in my troop lived. This day, at least at Camp Parsons, was the Hullabaloo. The Hullabaloo was a
great gathering of all the patrols at camp in a large grass–covered area bordering a beach and then
the Puget Sound. The whole area was dotted with green trees and was overlooked by a very large
cabin–like building, which acted as the meal room for all the troops in camp. The cabin–like
building was a dark brown, built on the outside with logs, but on the inside a sort of insulated faux–
log. The inside was very spacious and lined up along the walls were about 50 long tables for the
various troops at camp. Even in this large room, there wasn't always enough space to fit the scouts
from all the troops, so it was safe to say that my patrol had a lot of competition. All the patrols
would compete for a trophy (a carved block of wood, painted yellow and with the purple letters CP
stating: FIRST PLACE). Each troop usually has more than one patrol, each patrol being about 5–10
people, so my troop (of around 25 people) had two. When we were all let loose from the cabin–like

camp (stations such as fire starting, tying knots, and building shelters), my patrol started sprinting

Descriptive Essay On A Summer Camp
"Bill come on time to go!" Tom's mom screamed. Every summer Tom has to go to summer camp.
His parents are traveling all the time because of work. Bill really doesn't like to go, he's not the
"athletic type." Tom does not have a lot of friends and keeps to himself. As bill walks down the
stairs to the car he feels a little overwhelmed. Bill has gone to the camp three summers in a row and
feels weirded out when he's near the woods. The camp counselors don't like it when kids go to the
woods by themselves, apparently kids have disappeared but the counselors don't talk about it too
much.
The car ride there is long. To get there you have to go far from town. You could see huge trees
swaying back and forth as you pass by, it's a little creepy. Bill arrived to the eerie camp, he saw all
the kids with their parents trying to check in and get to know the grounds. The car came to a stop
and Bill and his mom got out the car. It was a long ride there so it took Bill a minute to stretch out.
Bill and his mom walk up to the front desk, there was a young man at the desk looked like he was
not in a good mood. The man began to speak "Hello and welcome to camp, do you need a room?"
the man said angrily. "Um yes please." Bill's mom said, but Bill zoend out the rest of the
conversation. "Bill I have to go now," Bill's mom said "I love you and please don't get in trouble
your room number is 122." "Ok mom love you too." Bill said. His mom gave him a kiss on the
cheek, gave him his room number and bags and left.
Bill walked through the huge camp and looked for his room number. Bill has been at the camp
multiply times so it was not hard to find. "122 must be mine room" Bill said out loud. The room was
not in the best condition, moss was on the outside and the grass was a little dead. Bill walk up
slowly to the door and knocked three times, "Hello is anyone home." You usually get a room mate.
"Come in!" the other person yelled from inside. Great, Bill was hoping no one would be home. Bill
opened the creaking door slowly. When he entered he saw a boy around 14 his age sitting on one of
the two beds. "Hi my names Tom, what's your name?" The boy said. "I'm Bill." Bill does not have
friends and he keeps to himself, so he a little shy.

Why Cell Phones Should Not Be Allowed In Summer Camps
Cell phones can be an exciting way to communicate with others; however, there are certain times
and places where they should not be permitted. Do you think summer camp is one of the places a
teen should be permitted to carry a cell phone with them? Teens should not be permitted to have
access to cell phones during summer camps, as a cell phone can distract them from staying engaged.
For instance, teens can lose interest in making friends and doing activities, since they will be texting
friends from home or spending time on social media. If a teen does not bring his or her cell phone to
summer camp, they will be attentive and appreciate what is actually occurring in real life.
First, a cell phone should not be permitted at summer camp since it can inhibit a teen's social
interaction. According to journalist Regan McMahon, she states that "You've sent your son or
daughter off for a new experience, and for a reason. Having your kids spend time with their fellow
campers rather than texting friends back home will ensure a more valuable camp experience"
(Common Sense). Furthermore, when a teen brings a cell phone to summer camp, they risk missing
out on group activities and making new friends. Louis Bordman, senior director of the Eisner Camp

For instance, a teen can learn water safety techniques or how to build a fire to expand their
leadership. Also, a teen could try a new activity with new people, which will help with social skills.

the friends they will make while not being interested in their phone. By not bringing a cell phone,
teens can create lasting memories at summer camp that will make them feel elated and

My Experience At Summer Camp
"You and your sister are soooooo different," my friend, who I had met at summer camp a couple
years before, informed me as we stood beneath the blistering sun, our necks slicked with sweat and
our throats parched. Approximately two second before Julia spoke those words, my sister had
attempted to do a cartwheel in front of the whole camp, failed miserably, and screamed out in
amusement. The episode was followed first by a simultaneous gasp from the mouths of 200
campers, in fear of her injury, and then a fit of booming laughter when she stuck up her thumb and
smiled. While everyone stood around watching her, I pouted on the sidelines of the common field
and shook my head in shame. Of course I wanted to be in on the fun, laughing and jumping and
doing gymnastics with the rest of West Mountain Camp's population. But instead, I felt forced into a
reputation created for me so many years ago as the quiet, calm and mature twin sister of the
rambunctious and outgoing Chloe Blumberg. Always sitting on the sidelines, reading my books,
doling out my wise words and keeping my sister in check. The funny thing is, I can't remember it
ever being different. I was always told by my mom, dad and grandparents that I was the quiet and
mature one of the duo, and that I didn't need to get attention in the way Chloe always did because
my intelligence was enough to give me the recognition I needed. Chloe was just always so loud and

It very well may be that you're not looking forward to summer as much as your kids are; since
they're out of school, you have to think of the best and most constructive ways to occupy their time,
all while still going to work yourself. Luckily, the hot months are an opportunity for children to not
only engage in fun physical activities, but also to get creative and learn a thing or two. This is why
Wentzville, MO–based child day care center, DLC Academy, organizes its summer camp for

Becoming A Summer Camp Counselor Essay
Becoming a summer camp counselor was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was a
camper for 10 years and the transition to counselor felt like a natural step forward. Even though I
loved my job and the campers I spent my time with, it was far from easy. I was responsible for 10 to
30 children, 24 hours a day, and planned many of the activities the campers participated in. I was
placed in this leadership position, but without the other 40 staff members, I would not have had a
successful summer. Our team communicated well, relied on each other for support, and talked
through any issues that arose.
There were many tough situations at camp and many days where I was mentally and physically

My Summer Camp Experience
This Summer, I had the best time of my life. I learned some valuable lessons, I made some friends,
and I had so much fun. Even if I didn't know it. This is the story of my summer camp experience.
About two months earlier had signed up for a Camp in Indiana called YMCA Camp Potawotami.
My neighbor who is a year younger than me went to camp with me. We got to our summer camp on
the Sunday before. I had a lot of fun, but my part of this event, is when the girls in my cabin and I
became true friends.
We walked back from swim time and going onto the walk to our cabin. Our cabin was one of the
older cabins, but it was nice. The building was a Wooden log building with two main hallways, one
for the boys and one for the girls, which both came together in a main room that had one huge
window wall, in the middle, and two other walls on the side that had one huge window in the
middle.
"Ok girls, pack up your stuff for camping, but remember we're only going for one night." Our
councilor ,Greer, told us. So we packed our stuff in bags and went to set up our tents.
We walked about half a mile up a grassy path with woods to the left, and a field of wheat to the
right. We came to a clearing that was in the shape of a circle. With it, were two tents packed up in
their tiny little bags in the middle of a circle, along with a fire pit, and a picnic table. "Ok, we need
everyone to help set up, no one should be doing nothing." Kylie exclaimed, who was our second

Descriptive Essay About Summer Camp
Many Canadian children look forward to one thing all year: camp. Whether they spend the summer
in the Canadian wilderness, or at one of the many camps located in their city, summer camp is a
staple memory for many. Camp is where lifelong memories and friendships are made, where kids
get to return to school and tell their friends about the canoe trip they went on, the cool painting they
made, or their funny counsellors. Summer camp is the experience that influences, and changes,
many lives.
I went to summer camp from the time I was 5 to the time I was 15. I always went to day camps,
ranging from camps based on school campuses, to sewing camp, to cooking camp. Even though I
was lucky enough as a child to experience many different summer camps, my six years at Bayview
Glen Day Camp will always be my favourite. I loved that each unit only had kids my age, and that
they were names after fun, exotic animals.
Bayview Glen was the camp I went to for the longest. It appealed to my parents because of the door
to door pick up on school busses, each with an individual name based off a food. At the age of 5, my
parents put me on one of the many school buses, and off I went to be one of BVG's newest Hippo
campers. My mom, although incredibly trusting of the two teenagers she stuck me on a bus with,
was nervous. Would I have fun? Would I be safe? Would I miss her? Did "peanut free" really mean
peanut free? As it turns out, the only one who did any crying that day was her. I came home from
camp so excited that I would get to return to the busy scene of the luscious green field we met on
every morning.
Fast forward through my years as a camper in the Lynx unit, as a camper in the Cheetah unit, as a
camper in the Jaguar unit, and as a camper in the Tiger unit, where each summer was full of fun, and
where each summer ended in many tears and lots of hope for the next. When I was little, all I

Summer Camp Essay
When parents talk about sending their child to summer camp, some people assume that the reason
behind this is to get a break from the child, and furthermore, those people believe that summer camp
has no impact on the child whatsoever. The majority of people who attended summer camp would
not agree. Summer camp allows children to thrive in a safe environment. Camp teaches children
valuable life skills. As someone who has attended summer camp since a young age, I can say with
confidence that summer camp helps a child develop into an independent and confident young adult.
Summer camp helps children to explore their independence. They get to live away from their
parents and learn to care for themselves. Of course, camp counselors are present ... Show more

Camp counselors take jobs seriously and should be trusted. Each staff member goes through
vigorous training to ensure the safety of every camper. Beyond taking care of the campers' physical
need, counselors help the campers to achieve each child's unique level of responsibility, whether that
is tying their shoe, or conquering a fear. At summer camp, children become exposed to
independence.
This exposure allows children to develop more confidence in themselves. Acceptance is an essential
element of camp. Counselors work hard to make sure every child is being included in activities.
Summer camp is a place where children can be themselves. As a result, campers form unbreakable
bonds with their cabinmates. This summer, I had a cabin of nine girls, ages eleven and twelve.
Seven of those girls came from the same school but had never interacted with each other. By the end
of the week, not only did those girls conclude that they should be friends during the school year, but
they also arranged to see the other two girls next summer. Another approach for campers to obtain
confidence is the opportunity for them to go outside their comfort zone. When a camper
accomplishes something that they didn't think they could do, that gives them a sense of confidence
in themselves. People may argue that this sense of accomplishment can be achieved

A Town 's Parks And Recreation Department
A town's parks and recreation department is important to get people involved and also draw home
shoppers to the area. Jay Guelfi is the Director for Parks and Recreation in the Town of Hopkinton,
Massachusetts. There are two different parts, parks and recreation. The parks side of operations
involves maintaining different public properties throughout the town including athletic league fields,
the pond, the beach, as well as the town common. The recreation side of operations involves
organizing and running different programs that include athletic programs, academic programs, and
artistic programs. Guelfi incorporates the six P's of marketing into the marketing of his department's
activities. First and foremost, he said that the product they are promoting is "healthy recreation"
which includes the many activities organized by the department. The places where these products
exist are within the town of Hopkinton. Consequently, all of the products are marketed to the
residents of Hopkinton.
The activities put on by the Parks and Recreation Department are promoted through several
different platforms. Guelfi said that the biggest promotion is put out through social media. In fact,
he actually hired someone to be in charge of the social media accounts run by his department. Some
different forms of social media used are Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Additionally, the town's
newspaper, The Hopkinton Independent, contains articles and advertisements for programs put on

Who Is The Most Difficult Challenge?
The entire day had been a struggle as we slipped on the various rocks underneath our feet. I was part
of a group of five boys and two adult leaders making our way up Mt. Phillips in northern New
Mexico. Every ten minutes, our Scoutmaster, Mr. Britton, would gleefully shout, "Come on boys,
just a little more climbing and we will be at the top." I wanted to believe him, but I was running out
of energy. This was the most difficult challenge I had ever faced in my seventeen years growing up.
I wanted to quit, but I did not want to let Mr. Britton down. He had been a major influence in my
life. He was always concerned about the boys in his troop, and more importantly, I knew he was
concerned about me.
Mr. Britton, or Mr. B, as we called him, always had various words of wisdom that sometimes did
not make sense at the time, but as I grew older I realized they make perfect sense. One saying I will
never forget is, "It makes no sense to worry about something if you cannot do anything about it. But
if you can do something about it, then you need to quit worrying and do something about it." He
was a great mentor to me and many other boys. He was always full of encouragement and wanted
the young men in his troop to succeed in whatever endeavor they took on. It was no surprise when
Mr. B would show up on a Friday night to watch me play in my high school football game. He was
known to attend band concerts with his wife in support of the boys in his troop. We all knew Mr.

Do you remember those hot summer days when you had nothing to do and your friends were
nowhere to be found? Throughout time, countless American children go away to summer camps and
have treasured this opportunity for a life time. I believe you should take the opportunity to go to
summer camp, because you will spend the day making new friends, building self–confidence, and
becoming more independent. Many of us have had the chance to go to camp, creating lifelong
memories that will be retold for generations. In my opinion, the first reason for going to summer
camp would be for making new friends. As soon as you arrive to camp, everyone makes an
agreement to respect each other and to get to know one another. The group starts off by planning to

Summer Camp Descriptive Essay
"Summer Camp" The bus decelerated to a stop and we were there, Crystal Lake. I wasn't there
willingly, but my parents made me go with my cousin, Sandra. They said that this would help bring
me closer to God, but I think they just needed a break from me. I've always detested summer camp,
especially the ones from church. The kids from there are always so annoying, and I'm forced to put
up with them for a whole week. When we got to the camp, it was about 5:30. The group leaders
assigned our cabins, which consisted of four bunk beds, two dressers, and a small couch. After that,
we all went on a hike and came back for dinner. I was exhausted, and honestly, I was already over it.
After, everyone showered and got settled into their cabins. All ... Show more content on

interrupted when i saw it. There, on the other side of the lake stood the strange woman, staring
directly at me.
"Are you alright?" inquired Sandra. I froze. I didn't know what to tell her. I debated whether or not I
should say something. I stayed quiet for a moment, then, I finally answered her.
"Yeah, I'm fine why?" I replied. Sandra tilted her head and looked at me for a moment.
"You seem a little...off. Are you sure you're alright?" she asked, once again.
"Mhm, I'm fine," I told her. She looked at me for a moment then just nodded. I wasn't fine though, I
felt uneasy. When it got later, we went to our cabin, and once again, the girls stayed up talking while
I listened to my music. I turned up the volume all the way and tried, unsuccessfully to get the
thought out of my mind. I wasn't sure why she was there, or if she was even a threat, but the way
she just stood there staring at me creeped me out. The thought kept poking at me so out of curiosity,
I went up to the window and opened the curtains. I examined the forest and searched to see if the
woman was there. I was determined to find her, but she wasn't there. I went back to my bed, but I
couldn't fall asleep. The bed was too hard, the pillow was too soft, the blanket was too thick, but that

Why Summer Camp Should Not Be Miserable?
Summer camp should not be miserable. Best friends should not turn on you. Holding yourself back
is not worth missed opportunities. Summer camp of 2014 was not only quite frankly miserable, but
taught me an important life lesson; you should not hold yourself back to let others thrive. The
golden July sun peeked through the clouds on an early Monday morning. We piled bags, full and
overpacked, into the trunk of our car. As preposterous as it sounds, a weeklong overnight stay at a
summer camp was a declaration of my independence. I was eleven, almost twelve years old, and
about to enter middle school. Like most of kids my age, I was eager to be mature and independent,
and this trip with my two closet dance friends seemed like a perfect way to begin the rest of my
summer. After what seemed like a lifetime, we finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The girls ignored and beat me down. Anything I did didn't seem good enough to them, and I didn't
know why. I soon found out. I had just walked out of the cabins and scanned around the campus for
them. Though they were treating me horribly, I still wanted to try to be okay with them. Eventually I
found them. They were at the park, sitting at the top of a play house. I went over to them and began
to climb up the ladder as something caught my attention. They were saying my name. I froze. I
heard each word they said. "She is such a bad dancer." "The only reason she has good roles is
because she is the favorite." "She is annoying." "Why does she think she is so good?" "The group
would be better without her." My stomach sinking, I felt a wave of embarrassment. Suddenly they
looked over and their eyes locked with mine, filled with the beginnings of tears. I turned away
quickly, running away as fast as I could. I face burned with anger and my throat stung with sadness.
Why would the people who meant the most to me turn on me? Why would they say those things?

Essay About Summer Camp
Summer Camp
It was summer of 2013 and it was my first time traveling alone. I was going to Champéry,
Switzerland. I felt excited because it's a part of the world which I haven't visited before. Going to
the airport by myself and going through customs was a bit of a hassle, but nothing I can't handle.
When I arrived at Champéry by train, I had to walk to the camp which not that far Just a 10–minute
walk. As I walked to there the scenery was breathtaking. It was so green and surrounded with
mountains where you can see white peaks because of the snow. You can see the cows wandering
around on the hills and hear their jiggling bells.
As I reached the camp, the manager was there greeting the new arrivals and the place we were
staying at was this big 4–floor wooden house. The staff there were so friendly and welcoming.
Everyone there was from different parts of the world. In the first day, they gave us a chance to go
around and socialize and get familiar with the place because it'll be my home for the next 5 weeks.
At first it was hard to communicate to people there because we all speak different languages, but we
all know to talk English which was a life saver.

Descriptive Essay About Summer Camp
For the past nine summers I have spent most of my vacation along the wooded shores of Long Lake
at Camp Manitou in New Auburn, Wisconsin. I begin my weekly drive up along the winding, scenic
roads, while the drive is quite long, it is completely worth it. This is my only alone time before all of
the anxious campers arrive, so taking every chance I can get for some me time is detrimental to
maintain my sanity. The concept of summer camp is often misunderstood by people who have never
had the experience. Every morning we wake up to endure the mosquito infested air, constant daily
activity in the sweltering heat, and head to toe sunburns. But to us camp counselors, only get one
hour of sleep, doing first aid nine times a day, and anger–ridden adolescent boys pelting each other
with dodgeballs, is the our idea of a perfect summer. This may seem like the complete opposite of
what summer should be, but camp has always been our home; it is a part of us we will never let go
of. It is more than just another summer camp, it is a safe haven for those not accepted by the norm
of society, it´s a place where I can just be me and that's more than enough. Watching the endless
road ahead of me, I begin to get lost in my thoughts and dream about the day to come. I wake up to
hear Niall Horan's voice singing softly in my ears, a perfect song to start a perfect day. I sit up, and

Summer Sleep-Away Camps
Summer Time Fun As adults, we spend a lot of time away from our family and friends due to work
or other priorities in our life. We learn to adapt and keep going through these times of being away
and this can make us a greater person. Summer sleep–away camp is much like a longer version of a
sleepover and can be a great head start for children who may not be away from their family and
friends much. This leads me to feel that summer sleep–away camps have positive effects on children
and should even be considered important to the development of a child.
For me, the biggest reason for summer sleep–away camps is to help the child develop more. Camps
offer more life experience that are likely to come up in later adulthood. For instance, when I was
younger I went to a camp for a whole month! I was terrified of being away from my parents for that
long, however I overcame this fear and I was able to gain many great experiences and tools I use
today. One thing I improved on was swimming during my time at ... Show more content on

While it is true the child will miss some time with their friends and families, they will however be
making new friends and new memories. These new memories and friends may even allow the child
to show their friends and family new ideas and tricks that improve family life. The child gains new
friends and this is a positive effect especially if the child struggled before with making friends, or
even if the child is shy this is a benefit because they are meeting others who will have something in
common with them.
Going to a sleep–away camp is a very beneficial thing for children of all ages. They allow children
to gain new life experiences, new friends, and a better outlook toward adulthood. This in turn can
lead to a better life for the child and their family. Summer sleep–away camps should be a very
serious consideration for any child.

Marketing Challenge At The 2013 Toronto 's Intercamp...
Marketing Challenge This report will discuss the situation faced by Josh Howard as at October 2012
in regards to the 2013 Toronto's Intercamp Classic Annual Charity event. The marketing challenge is
to raise 25% more money during the 2013 event than the $125,000 raised in 2012 and amounts to a
donation goal of $156,250. The 2013 event is scheduled for May 5, 2013 and the kickoff campaign
launches in two months. Based on internal and external analysis, a comprehensive marketing plan
that addresses the product, placement, price, promotion and target market of the Intercamp Classic
will be developed to overcome the outlined marketing challenge.

In 2011, a female handball division was created and a male flag football division geared towards
high school students was added in 2012. While both expansions were met with impressive growth in
size and donations, a large portion of the Classic's human resources had to be devoted to
accommodate the expansions and time constraints that Howard currently faces could potentially
limit future expansions.
Industry Analysis The trend of the increasing emphasis for businesses to be socially responsible
presents an opportunity for corporate sponsorships. These sponsorships can either supplement
donations made by participants or provide an alternative, more acceptable, source of financing for
marketing initiatives. Therefore, more funding can be allocated to the marketing budget which
increases the promotional alternatives Howard can utilise. Additionally, as a result of the same
social trend, companies sometimes offer discounts for not for profit organisations which further
increases the financial capabilities of the Classic in affording promotional materials.
Competitive Analysis Although Howard does not identify any specific competition, the Classic does
compete with other charity events. The competitive advantage that most charity events like the
Intercamp Classic have is that they operate a silent auction and raffle
Consumer Analysis The market can be segmented into three consumer groups: 16 to 30 year olds
and 31 to 50 year olds who

Therapeutic Recreational Types Of Therapeutic Recreation
What does therapeutic recreation mean to me? Therapeutic recreation is a process that utilizes
recreation and education as a way to enable a being with any type of disorder, mentally, physically
or emotionally. My personal belief is that recreation can be used to help anyone become happier or
more comfortable than they already are. To put it simply, I believe that therapeutic recreation is a
very organized way to help people, no matter the circumstance, without prejudices, or
discrimination, and judgments. It doesn't matter whether the person was born with a disability,
physically or mentally, or even if they were born with no disability and are considered to be
'clinically healthy', I believe as a TR representative it is our job to improve the lives of others in any
way we possibly can because if someone isn't as happy as they can be we theoretically can at least
try to help. Although I have yet to work in a therapeutic recreational type environment, I feel that I
have learned many helpful skills that translate from other fields that I can apply to the field of TR.
This past summer I worked two jobs in two completely different fields from each other and
therapeutic recreation. Working at a bar taught me that you need to be patient and accommodating to
peoples needs and wants. I also learned how big of an impact you could make on someone's day just
by doing the simplest tasks. This is especially important in TR because our goal fully revolves
around improving health and

(2013). Assessing the Social Effect of Therapeutic Recreation Summer Camp for Adolescents with Chronic Illness. Therapeutic Recreation Journal, 47(1). Retrieved from http://js.sagamorepub.com/trj/article/view/2631 Introduction This article in the Therapeutic Recreational Journal, presents a unique and inspired way to improve "decreased levels of social self–efficacy and social performance" (Allsop, Negley, & Sibthorp, 2013), for adolescents suffering from chronic illness. The research presented in this paper aimed to improve these areas in the individuals by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By continuing to run camps and activities that take a further in depth view it may be possible to discover that changes may develop in other areas aside from just the social aspect. It is highly likely that increases in mental, emotional, and physical performance occur as well. However a trained and certified TR professional running the camp would know how to better conduct assessments and implement methods to plan an intervention in comparison to a TR intern. A major study that could come from this research is measuring the difference in social performance when the camp is completely administered by licensed TR professionals. While doing so it would also be a stupendous idea to measure all four domains and really understand which domain benefits most from a camp ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Personal Narrative: Summer Camp Therapy I had been working at Aviator Sports and Events Center for about three years. During those three years, I have been an after school counselor and a summer camp counselor. I have interacted with many different kinds of kids that had behavioral problems, special needs and that don't have any problems at all. During my second summer working at Aviator, my manager had placed a particular child in my group. This child had Autism. It my first time dealing with a child with this diagnosis. When I found out that this child would be in my group, I wasn't sure what to expect since I never experienced it before. • 3. Summer Camp For Foster Kids Essay There are many benefits of summer camp for foster kids and their foster parents. For the parents, fostering is not always the easiest task. You can love your foster child with everything in you, but fostering comes with its own set of challenges and everyone needs the occasional break. The child can go and have a positive experience at camp, while the foster parents destress and take some time for themselves. Top 7 Benefits of Summer Camp for Foster Kids Siblings: Summer camp for foster kids is also a chance for siblings to get together. There are times when it isn't possible to place sibling groups together, but one of the main benefits of summer camp for foster kids is getting to see brothers and sisters the children truly miss. This also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their social skills might not be where they should be for their ages. However, summer camp counselors can find the unique qualities and skills of each child and help them learn new social skills they might not learn in their ordinary day–to–day lives. Happy Memories: Your foster child might only stay with you for a short time. Even though officials might have the best of intentions, there are times that the child goes back into a home that is still dysfunctional or becomes that way again. Summer camp gives the child happy memories to focus on during this difficult times. A Fresh Start: Another one of the benefits of summer camp for foster kids is that it allows the child to come to a place where no one knows him or her. No one knows what went on before this day. If the child has acted out at school, he has a chance to start fresh at camp with a new attitude. Like Other Kids: Summer camp is something many kids put on their summer bucket lists. Attending summer camp allows a foster child that sense of being just like all the other kids out there. His life might be insane at home. He may have to overcome challenges, but he is going to summer camp just like John and Susie in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Persuasive Friendship Who knew that switching lunches could change into 8 years of friendship? Well, small, insignificant things can turn into big things. An example of that would be how my best friend and I met. SUNNYVALE COMMUNITY CENTER, JULY 2OO9– I sat down on a cold hard cube shaped stone slab, zipping open my blue and lavender Tinkerbell lunch box. Inside, wrapped in aluminum foil, was the not–so long awaited PB&J, but instead of bread, there was a tortilla.A tortilla! Who does that?! Well, it does taste good, but my mom gave it to me so much that I soon got tired of it. I sighed. The girl next to me sighed a few seconds later. "Why are you sad?" she asked me inquisitively. "My mom gave a PBJ in a tortilla when I told her not to for the millionth time!" I exclaimed, and maybe kind of exaggerated. The problem was that I had been to so many summer camps before, and my mom always gave me the same exact lunch. "Oh," the girl shrugged, "That sounds delectably good. I got the same boring old spaghetti. Actually, the spaghetti is not really spaghetti. She also adds some more special sauces. So, do you want to switch lunches?" "OK," I said. I gave her my lunch, while she gave me her lunch. "I never got your name, by the way." I mumbled my mouth full of the amazing pasta that was as good as heaven. "Oh yeah!" she exclaimed, her mouth also filled with food."My name is Adrija! What's your name?" she gulped down the tortilla. "My name's Soumily," I told her. She seemed like a nice person to be ... Camp Insurance Tis The Season It?s that time of year again. The weather?s getting warmer, the days are getting longer, bugs and critters are coming out of hibernation, and your child is anxiously looking at the clock, counting the seconds as they tick by. School?s almost out and summer is right around the corner, which means that camp season is almost here. If you?re a parent, you?ve definitely heard of summer camp. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That doesn?t mean you shouldn?t send your kids to summer camp out of fear for their safety. Your kids deserve the fresh air and sun, the exercise and adventure, the chance to make new friends and discover new things. And as a parent, you deserve some peace, quiet, and time alone with your child out of the house. But you can?t truly enjoy that peace and quiet and time alone if you?re constantly worrying about your child?s safety and wellbeing while they?re out having fun in the sun at summer camp. There is a lot of intense physical activity during kids? summer camp, especially for sports camps, and being out in the outdoors can have its risks, whether its taking the wrong step during a hike and taking a nasty tumble or being exposed to harmful plants and wildlife. According to the American Camp Association, or the ACA, over eleven million children attend summer camp every year in the United States. Forty–seven percent of these camps are resident or overnight camps while twenty–eight percent are exclusively day camps. As for programs, eighty– seven of camps offer recreational swimming, sixty–seven percent offer camping skills, forty–eight percent offer climbing or rappelling, thirty–eight percent offer horseback riding, seventy–eight percent offer teambuilding exercises (which usually involve an outdoor ropes course), twenty–three percent offer farming, ranching, and gardening, and twenty–eight percent offer wilderness trips. • 7. The Long History Of Summer Camp The words "summer camp" conjure up fond memories of campfires, s'mores, pranks, and color war for many Americans. What appeals to many campers, or prospective campers, is the keeping of tradition. Many campers can trace back their relatives who attended the very same camp, and find delight in the idea of shared experiences with their close, or distant, relatives. The long history of summer camps in America stems from an annual trip William Frederick Gunn began to take in 1861 in order to expose young boys to what life in the wilderness has to offer. Originally, the Gunn's theory was that the experience would "strengthen not merely muscle, nerve, and self–discipline, but developed a masculine character as well." This applied specifically for boys, but camps for girls first appeared in 1902 with the opening of Camp Kehonka, in reflection of the changing attitudes with reference to the role of women in society. Sleepaway camps become a prominent institution in America in the 1900's that influenced the youth of this country, and continues to do so over one hundred years later, as thousands of summer camps still run every summer, many of which are the same camps that sparked this burgeoning trend. The development of this idiosyncratic principle in American life can be understood through the development of various widespread opinions during, and before, the first sleepaway camp was founded. To fully understand the roots of the summer camp ideology, it is imperative to look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Summer Camp Research Paper When I was eleven, I went to a summer camp where for the first time, I would be apart from my parents for a week. My local service group was affiliated with it, but I had never before met any of the people there. Going to summer camp was my first time spending a significant amount of time people who were different from me. In order to connect with others, I had to change some of my attitudes. That year and for the next five, I would meet girls that I would have never met ordinarily. At that camp was the first time that I became friends with people of diverse backgrounds who appeared different, spoke differently, acted differently, were richer, were poorer and none of it seemed to matter. All everyone wanted was to be friends with each other and if you were unfriendly or rude, why would anybody be kind to you? When I first arrived, I became friends with the people who seemed the most familiar to me, those like me. But I was placed into classes with people who were not my friends and initially I was upset, but when I went to the classes I found myself having fun and laughing. Some of those who seemed unlike anyone I had known, were so hilarious that I just knew that I wanted to be friends with them. • 9. My Experience Of A Summer Camp It was a humid, and hot July day. It was an exciting day because my parents, my brother, and I was going to go to Bermuda very soon. My brother kept yelling at me telling me to hurry up. Really, I was just too excited, there was not much time left and the great marine adventure awaited. From when summer started, to July, I was at summer camp. This trip would be the first time this summer that I actually got to travel with my family. The summer had been pretty boring so far and it was my last year at this summer camp because I was going to be in 6th grade soon. My brother, Robert, spent more time there than me because he was going to be in 4th grade in September. I would miss my summer camp, but at the same time, I wouldn't because it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It looked like the ship was tipped over and that was why it was so vertically straight. The boat looked very old. The instructor told us that the boat carried lots of goods, but then it crashed. Then, they drove for another 10 minutes. Where are we going? I thought as they were driving. I was looking at the floor of the boat because it was glass. As I looked down I noticed that when we were in shallow parts we could see marine animals, but when we were at deeper parts of the water we could only see water. We drove right on top of the Bermuda triangle. How can we now go on the Bermuda Triangle? I thought. The Bermuda triangle was said to have sucked people into it and then the people were never seen again. There are many myths about the Bermuda Triangle but, no one is sure if any are true. The instructor stated happily, "We are now going to the snorkeling sight!" A loud cheer erupted. It was about a 10–minute drive to the snorkeling place. When we got there it was a big space there were rocks on one side that was the island. Which meant we were close to the island. The most important part the instructor had cautioned us was, "Always have your noodle with you. If you didn't have your noodle with you it wasn't safe." We were learning on how to be safe in the water. "When can we finally start?" Robert groaned sitting next to me listening to the instructions. After a few minutes of gibbering and ... • 10. Summer Camp Research Paper "We need to return them better than they were given to us". It was drilled into our heads from day one of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a statement concerning a materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater value: the lives of children. You would not expect such a heavy responsibility from your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we embarked on adventures that changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the summer sunshine was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend how my interaction with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine. Preparing for this job was not easy: a twenty hour training period was to be completed weeks before the beginning of camp. Delivered to us trainees from the voices of first–hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse and the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Child abuse did not happen mostly in dark alley ways, but in places that are filled with kids and nearby witnesses, which fit the description of the YMCA summer camps perfectly. Long ... Everyday, when I saw familiar faces or greeted new little ones into my group, I was determined to protect those children, and give them the summer camp experience they so deserved; unfortunately, balancing the two was about as easy as taming a cat. Fun for the kids was running off to places that were too far from my sight, too close to danger. Time and time again, I found myself reeling them in and keeping them stationed in place, away from the opportunities to explore and enjoy the campground. My full control of the situation became a necessity, but this was not the way that the kids would grow. There would always be the shadow of danger when in charge of a large group of children, but it was up to me to be brave enough to let freedom run, even if it was out of my comfort ... • 11. Summer Camp Personal Statement During the summer of 2016, I was a volunteer at the Ridge Meadows Child Development Centre's Therapeutic Summer Camp. My experience at the camp was a memorable one, since I met a young boy with ADHD. Though it was difficult to get his attention, his condition made me more aware and got me to communicate in a more innovate way. By talking about a common interest of ours, the sport of soccer, I was not telling him instructions or asking him for his attention, but instead giving him mine. Besides my volunteering at the summer camp, I have been a part of many activities, such as the VolunTEEN program and the Ridge Meadows Homeshow, all throughout high school and the experiences have shaped who I am today. Currently in my third year, I am volunteering at my local hospital and residential home, Baillie House, through the VolunTEEN program as Team Leader. Being a part of the program has opened me to a new perspective on health. I have learned to socially adapt and build strong bonds, as well as initiate ways to help others. • 13. Descriptive Essay On My Summer Camp My First Summer Camp It was the last day of my first summer camp. The night before my Boy Scout troop would pack all their gear and leaves the coast of the Puget Sound, and return to the suburbs where most of the kids in my troop lived. This day, at least at Camp Parsons, was the Hullabaloo. The Hullabaloo was a great gathering of all the patrols at camp in a large grass–covered area bordering a beach and then the Puget Sound. The whole area was dotted with green trees and was overlooked by a very large cabin–like building, which acted as the meal room for all the troops in camp. The cabin–like building was a dark brown, built on the outside with logs, but on the inside a sort of insulated faux– log. The inside was very spacious and lined up along the walls were about 50 long tables for the various troops at camp. Even in this large room, there wasn't always enough space to fit the scouts from all the troops, so it was safe to say that my patrol had a lot of competition. All the patrols would compete for a trophy (a carved block of wood, painted yellow and with the purple letters CP stating: FIRST PLACE). Each troop usually has more than one patrol, each patrol being about 5–10 people, so my troop (of around 25 people) had two. When we were all let loose from the cabin–like meal house to compete in various team–building activities and compete in stations set around the camp (stations such as fire starting, tying knots, and building shelters), my patrol started sprinting over ... • 14. Descriptive Essay On A Summer Camp "Bill come on time to go!" Tom's mom screamed. Every summer Tom has to go to summer camp. His parents are traveling all the time because of work. Bill really doesn't like to go, he's not the "athletic type." Tom does not have a lot of friends and keeps to himself. As bill walks down the stairs to the car he feels a little overwhelmed. Bill has gone to the camp three summers in a row and feels weirded out when he's near the woods. The camp counselors don't like it when kids go to the woods by themselves, apparently kids have disappeared but the counselors don't talk about it too much. The car ride there is long. To get there you have to go far from town. You could see huge trees swaying back and forth as you pass by, it's a little creepy. Bill arrived to the eerie camp, he saw all the kids with their parents trying to check in and get to know the grounds. The car came to a stop and Bill and his mom got out the car. It was a long ride there so it took Bill a minute to stretch out. Bill and his mom walk up to the front desk, there was a young man at the desk looked like he was not in a good mood. The man began to speak "Hello and welcome to camp, do you need a room?" the man said angrily. "Um yes please." Bill's mom said, but Bill zoend out the rest of the conversation. "Bill I have to go now," Bill's mom said "I love you and please don't get in trouble your room number is 122." "Ok mom love you too." Bill said. His mom gave him a kiss on the cheek, gave him his room number and bags and left. Bill walked through the huge camp and looked for his room number. Bill has been at the camp multiply times so it was not hard to find. "122 must be mine room" Bill said out loud. The room was not in the best condition, moss was on the outside and the grass was a little dead. Bill walk up slowly to the door and knocked three times, "Hello is anyone home." You usually get a room mate. "Come in!" the other person yelled from inside. Great, Bill was hoping no one would be home. Bill opened the creaking door slowly. When he entered he saw a boy around 14 his age sitting on one of the two beds. "Hi my names Tom, what's your name?" The boy said. "I'm Bill." • 15. Why Cell Phones Should Not Be Allowed In Summer Camps Cell phones can be an exciting way to communicate with others; however, there are certain times and places where they should not be permitted. Do you think summer camp is one of the places a teen should be permitted to carry a cell phone with them? Teens should not be permitted to have access to cell phones during summer camps, as a cell phone can distract them from staying engaged. For instance, teens can lose interest in making friends and doing activities, since they will be texting friends from home or spending time on social media. If a teen does not bring his or her cell phone to summer camp, they will be attentive and appreciate what is actually occurring in real life. First, a cell phone should not be permitted at summer camp since it can inhibit a teen's social interaction. According to journalist Regan McMahon, she states that "You've sent your son or daughter off for a new experience, and for a reason. Having your kids spend time with their fellow campers rather than texting friends back home will ensure a more valuable camp experience" (Common Sense). Furthermore, when a teen brings a cell phone to summer camp, they risk missing out on group activities and making new friends. Louis Bordman, senior director of the Eisner Camp ... • 17. My Experience At Summer Camp "You and your sister are soooooo different," my friend, who I had met at summer camp a couple years before, informed me as we stood beneath the blistering sun, our necks slicked with sweat and our throats parched. Approximately two second before Julia spoke those words, my sister had attempted to do a cartwheel in front of the whole camp, failed miserably, and screamed out in amusement. The episode was followed first by a simultaneous gasp from the mouths of 200 campers, in fear of her injury, and then a fit of booming laughter when she stuck up her thumb and smiled. While everyone stood around watching her, I pouted on the sidelines of the common field and shook my head in shame. Of course I wanted to be in on the fun, laughing and jumping and doing gymnastics with the rest of West Mountain Camp's population. But instead, I felt forced into a reputation created for me so many years ago as the quiet, calm and mature twin sister of the rambunctious and outgoing Chloe Blumberg. Always sitting on the sidelines, reading my books, doling out my wise words and keeping my sister in check. The funny thing is, I can't remember it ever being different. I was always told by my mom, dad and grandparents that I was the quiet and mature one of the duo, and that I didn't need to get attention in the way Chloe always did because my intelligence was enough to give me the recognition I needed. I was a camper for 10 years and the transition to counselor felt like a natural step forward. Even though I loved my job and the campers I spent my time with, it was far from easy. I was responsible for 10 to 30 children, 24 hours a day, and planned many of the activities the campers participated in. I was placed in this leadership position, but without the other 40 staff members, I would not have had a successful summer. • 20. My Summer Camp Experience This Summer, I had the best time of my life. I learned some valuable lessons, I made some friends, and I had so much fun. Even if I didn't know it. This is the story of my summer camp experience. About two months earlier had signed up for a Camp in Indiana called YMCA Camp Potawotami. My neighbor who is a year younger than me went to camp with me. We got to our summer camp on the Sunday before. I had a lot of fun, but my part of this event, is when the girls in my cabin and I became true friends. We walked back from swim time and going onto the walk to our cabin. Our cabin was one of the older cabins, but it was nice. The building was a Wooden log building with two main hallways, one for the boys and one for the girls, which both came together in a main room that had one huge window wall, in the middle, and two other walls on the side that had one huge window in the middle. "Ok girls, pack up your stuff for camping, but remember we're only going for one night." Our councilor ,Greer, told us. So we packed our stuff in bags and went to set up our tents. We walked about half a mile up a grassy path with woods to the left, and a field of wheat to the right. We came to a clearing that was in the shape of a circle. With it, were two tents packed up in their tiny little bags in the middle of a circle, along with a fire pit, and a picnic table. "Ok, we need everyone to help set up, no one should be doing nothing." Kylie exclaimed, who was our second councilor After about 20 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Descriptive Essay About Summer Camp Many Canadian children look forward to one thing all year: camp. Whether they spend the summer in the Canadian wilderness, or at one of the many camps located in their city, summer camp is a staple memory for many. Camp is where lifelong memories and friendships are made, where kids get to return to school and tell their friends about the canoe trip they went on, the cool painting they made, or their funny counsellors. Summer camp is the experience that influences, and changes, many lives. I went to summer camp from the time I was 5 to the time I was 15. I always went to day camps, ranging from camps based on school campuses, to sewing camp, to cooking camp. Even though I was lucky enough as a child to experience many different summer camps, my six years at Bayview Glen Day Camp will always be my favourite. I loved that each unit only had kids my age, and that they were names after fun, exotic animals. Bayview Glen was the camp I went to for the longest. It appealed to my parents because of the door to door pick up on school busses, each with an individual name based off a food. At the age of 5, my parents put me on one of the many school buses, and off I went to be one of BVG's newest Hippo campers. My mom, although incredibly trusting of the two teenagers she stuck me on a bus with, was nervous. Would I have fun? Would I be safe? Would I miss her? Did "peanut free" really mean peanut free? As it turns out, the only one who did any crying that day was her. I came home from camp so excited that I would get to return to the busy scene of the luscious green field we met on every morning. Fast forward through my years as a camper in the Lynx unit, as a camper in the Cheetah unit, as a camper in the Jaguar unit, and as a camper in the Tiger unit, where each summer was full of fun, and where each summer ended in many tears and lots of hope for the next. When I was little, all I wanted to do was work at camp. I walked into the camp on the first day of pre–camp, not knowing anyone else out of the 500 staff. After quietly sitting for a short time, I started talking to the people I sat between, discovering all three of us were first time staff. Summer Camp Essay When parents talk about sending their child to summer camp, some people assume that the reason behind this is to get a break from the child, and furthermore, those people believe that summer camp has no impact on the child whatsoever. The majority of people who attended summer camp would not agree. Summer camp allows children to thrive in a safe environment. Camp teaches children valuable life skills. As someone who has attended summer camp since a young age, I can say with confidence that summer camp helps a child develop into an independent and confident young adult. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Camp counselors take jobs seriously and should be trusted. Each staff member goes through vigorous training to ensure the safety of every camper. Beyond taking care of the campers' physical need, counselors help the campers to achieve each child's unique level of responsibility, whether that is tying their shoe, or conquering a fear. At summer camp, children become exposed to independence. This exposure allows children to develop more confidence in themselves. Acceptance is an essential element of camp. Counselors work hard to make sure every child is being included in activities. Summer camp is a place where children can be themselves. As a result, campers form unbreakable bonds with their cabinmates. This summer, I had a cabin of nine girls, ages eleven and twelve. Seven of those girls came from the same school but had never interacted with each other. By the end of the week, not only did those girls conclude that they should be friends during the school year, but they also arranged to see the other two girls next summer. Another approach for campers to obtain confidence is the opportunity for them to go outside their comfort zone. When a camper accomplishes something that they didn't think they could do, that gives them a sense of confidence in themselves. People may argue that this sense of accomplishment can be achieved ... • 26. Who Is The Most Difficult Challenge? The entire day had been a struggle as we slipped on the various rocks underneath our feet. I was part of a group of five boys and two adult leaders making our way up Mt. Phillips in northern New Mexico. Every ten minutes, our Scoutmaster, Mr. Britton, would gleefully shout, "Come on boys, just a little more climbing and we will be at the top." I wanted to believe him, but I was running out of energy. This was the most difficult challenge I had ever faced in my seventeen years growing up. I wanted to quit, but I did not want to let Mr. Britton down. He had been a major influence in my life. He was always concerned about the boys in his troop, and more importantly, I knew he was concerned about me. Mr. Britton, or Mr. B, as we called him, always had various words of wisdom that sometimes did not make sense at the time, but as I grew older I realized they make perfect sense. One saying I will never forget is, "It makes no sense to worry about something if you cannot do anything about it. But if you can do something about it, then you need to quit worrying and do something about it." He was a great mentor to me and many other boys. He was always full of encouragement and wanted the young men in his troop to succeed in whatever endeavor they took on. It was no surprise when Mr. B would show up on a Friday night to watch me play in my high school football game. He was known to attend band concerts with his wife in support of the boys in his troop. The group leaders assigned our cabins, which consisted of four bunk beds, two dressers, and a small couch. After that, we all went on a hike and came back for dinner. • 35. Descriptive Essay About Summer Camp For the past nine summers I have spent most of my vacation along the wooded shores of Long Lake at Camp Manitou in New Auburn, Wisconsin. I begin my weekly drive up along the winding, scenic roads, while the drive is quite long, it is completely worth it. This is my only alone time before all of the anxious campers arrive, so taking every chance I can get for some me time is detrimental to maintain my sanity. The concept of summer camp is often misunderstood by people who have never had the experience. Every morning we wake up to endure the mosquito infested air, constant daily activity in the sweltering heat, and head to toe sunburns. But to us camp counselors, only get one hour of sleep, doing first aid nine times a day, and anger–ridden adolescent boys pelting each other with dodgeballs, is the our idea of a perfect summer. This may seem like the complete opposite of what summer should be, but camp has always been our home; it is a part of us we will never let go of. It is more than just another summer camp, it is a safe haven for those not accepted by the norm of society, it´s a place where I can just be me and that's more than enough. Watching the endless road ahead of me, I begin to get lost in my thoughts and dream about the day to come. I wake up to hear Niall Horan's voice singing softly in my ears, a perfect song to start a perfect day. I sit up, and look at my co–counselor whom is still sound asleep on her bed, not even bothering to try and help get the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I still remember how 3 of us, from very different parts of a country, Oskemen, Pavlodar and Aktobe built up very strong friendly relationships. I remember how almost whole camp participants were crying right before departure, including me. More surprising fact is that I met a number of them here, in university, that serves as proof that you never really say Goobye  b) No "I" in team There are a plenty of activities that summer camps involve children in: rope courses, scavenger hunt, camp songs. All of them are intended to strengthen relationships between children, emphasizing significance of everyone's contribution. I remember a case when all our group at Baldauren was punished because the one in team didn't hand in his phone. After that case, even some of us extremely wanted to secretly keep their ownings' the didn't do that because they were aware about effect of one's action to a group. • 37. Summer Sleep-Away Camps Summer Time Fun As adults, we spend a lot of time away from our family and friends due to work or other priorities in our life. We learn to adapt and keep going through these times of being away and this can make us a greater person. Summer sleep–away camp is much like a longer version of a sleepover and can be a great head start for children who may not be away from their family and friends much. This leads me to feel that summer sleep–away camps have positive effects on children and should even be considered important to the development of a child. For me, the biggest reason for summer sleep–away camps is to help the child develop more. Camps offer more life experience that are likely to come up in later adulthood. For instance, when I was younger I went to a camp for a whole month! I was terrified of being away from my parents for that long, however I overcame this fear and I was able to gain many great experiences and tools I use today. One thing I improved on was swimming during my time at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These new memories and friends may even allow the child to show their friends and family new ideas and tricks that improve family life. The child gains new friends and this is a positive effect especially if the child struggled before with making friends, or even if the child is shy this is a benefit because they are meeting others who will have something in common with them. Going to a sleep–away camp is a very beneficial thing for children of all ages. They allow children to gain new life experiences, new friends, and a better outlook toward adulthood. This in turn can lead to a better life for the child and their family. Summer sleep–away camps should be a very serious consideration for any child. Your Score ___ of ... In 2011, a female handball division was created and a male flag football division geared towards high school students was added in 2012. While both expansions were met with impressive growth in size and donations, a large portion of the Classic's human resources had to be devoted to accommodate the expansions and time constraints that Howard currently faces could potentially limit future expansions. Industry Analysis The trend of the increasing emphasis for businesses to be socially responsible presents an opportunity for corporate sponsorships. These sponsorships can either supplement donations made by participants or provide an alternative, more acceptable, source of financing for marketing initiatives. Therefore, more funding can be allocated to the marketing budget which increases the promotional alternatives Howard can utilise. Additionally, as a result of the same social trend, companies sometimes offer discounts for not for profit organisations which further increases the financial capabilities of the Classic in affording promotional materials. Competitive Analysis Although Howard does not identify any specific competition, the Classic does compete with other charity events. The competitive advantage that most charity events like the Intercamp Classic have is that they operate a silent auction and raffle Consumer Analysis The market can be segmented into three consumer groups: 16 to 30 year olds and 31 to 50 year olds who ... • 39. Therapeutic Recreational Types Of Therapeutic Recreation What does therapeutic recreation mean to me? Therapeutic recreation is a process that utilizes recreation and education as a way to enable a being with any type of disorder, mentally, physically or emotionally. My personal belief is that recreation can be used to help anyone become happier or more comfortable than they already are. To put it simply, I believe that therapeutic recreation is a very organized way to help people, no matter the circumstance, without prejudices, or discrimination, and judgments. It doesn't matter whether the person was born with a disability, physically or mentally, or even if they were born with no disability and are considered to be 'clinically healthy', I believe as a TR representative it is our job to improve the lives of others in any way we possibly can because if someone isn't as happy as they can be we theoretically can at least try to help. Although I have yet to work in a therapeutic recreational type environment, I feel that I have learned many helpful skills that translate from other fields that I can apply to the field of TR. This past summer I worked two jobs in two completely different fields from each other and therapeutic recreation. Working at a bar taught me that you need to be patient and accommodating to peoples needs and wants. I also learned how big of an impact you could make on someone's day just by doing the simplest tasks. This is especially important in TR because our goal fully revolves around improving health and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
