Explain Why It Is Important To Have A Maximum Attendance...
The purpose of a meeting is to inform team members of ideas as well as problems that may arise.
During meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to voice their opinions and views whilst
listening to others points of views. The attendees of a meeting should be people who have got a
purpose and opinion towards the agenda of the meeting. Also, a meeting should include a minute
taker to record important notes and also a chair. A chair's main responsibility is to lead the meeting
by beginning the conversation of all the topics and also to open and close the meeting.
Q – Explain why it is important to have a minimum number of attendees for a meeting. (1.2)
A – It important to achieve a minimum amount of people at a meeting as if a certain person cannot

Within this meeting, there will be representatives from Quantity Surveyors, Engineers to Architects.
If there are no engineers at this meeting, then there should be serious doubt to whether the meeting
goes ahead. The important to having the right amount of attendees is so no one can miss out on
anything important and also so no decisions are made without their opinion.
Q – Explain ways to achieve maximum attendance at meetings. (1.3)
A – One way of achieving maximum attendance at a meeting is by sending out an invitation email
which gives the recipient the chance to accept, decline or hold the invitation to the meeting. This
way, it automatically updates their calendar if they accept the invitation and allows you to know
who is attending. Another way to achieve maximum attendance is arranging a time and location that
accommodates everyone that you want to be at the meeting. Choosing a time and place when
someone is busy will ultimately mean that one person already can't make it.
Q – Explain the access, health, safety and security requirements relating to meetings.

The Time Management Procedures I Have Developed
Two time management procedures I have developed in my internship are keeping a weekly agenda
and using a monthly calendar to keep track of larger tasks. Each Linbeck employee is asked to keep
up with a PPC (promised percent complete) agenda. At the end of the week, you are expected to
enter the meetings and tasks into a standard form. As you complete the tasks throughout the
following week, you check off the line items. At the close of business on Friday, you are asked to
grade your PPC. Any tasks that were not completed are marked as such, and you are required to
explain why the task was not finished as promised. This practice gets me to work on only promising
tasks that can be managed in the course of a week. In order to accommodate ... Show more content

Utilizing a white board in your office promotes a community atmosphere that allows for productive
conversation.
The main problem I have encountered is planning for the future. In the business world, it is
impossible to tell what problems will come up. On any given day your priorities can change from
that you have planned. It is important to recognize the highest priorities and to tackle those items
first so that you can get to the items of lower priority before they become critical.
I get to work each morning at 6:30. The first thing I do is check my PPC, email, and outstanding
RFIs (requests for information) and submittals. Shortly afterwards I go to a daily engineer huddle
where there is a discussion of each engineer's planned tasks for the day. If there is time after the
meeting, I like to walk the jobsite in order to get a feel for the work of all the disciplines onsite.
Next, I get to work on the promised tasks for the day. Throughout the day, I am in and out of the
jobsite office and visiting the work in the field to keep up with progress and make note of any
issues.
The three types of meetings I am a part of are OAC (owner, architect, contractor), preconstruction,
and BIM (Building Information Modeling) coordination meetings. There is an OAC meeting on the
first and third Tuesday of every month. Our architect flies in from California on the morning of the
meeting, and spends

Unit 8 P1 Case Study
As with any meeting, the preparation of notes to discuss will be important to come with a resolution
with the management and staff. Sarah should call a mandatory meeting with the staff. Once the
meeting has started Sarah should first let the staff know that she appreciates all and everything that
they do each and every day. I believe letting the staff know that they are appreciated is a good step
as a manager when starting a meeting.
As Sarah, I would once again explain that there has been concerns from the new owners on how
they wanted the wait staff to treat the customers. I would let the staff know the concerns from the
customers ranging from the staff spending more time at a table and not paying attention to other
customers, the friendliness

Strategies to inform participants about the meeting: Email or Microsoft Outlook
Timeframe: An hour before the commencement of the meeting if possible.
Activity 9
Why is it a good idea to prepare a extra sets of meeting papers?
We should make extra sets of copies of the meeting papers as it would have a bad reflection of self if
we ran out of paper. It also reflects that the holder of the meeting is prepared. Also, and extra set
should be maintained in the computer and your email. Just in case you misplace your document
there are chances of retaining them. Extra set is always beneficial and saves time and stress.
Activity 10
Why is it important to take accurate minutes of a meeting without recording the conversation
verbatim?
It is important to take accurate minutes of a meeting for the following reasons:
a. it provides a transcript of the meeting.
b. People can review what they said and what they are committed to.
c. Any disputes arising from meeting can in most cases be solved from the minutes of the meeting.
d. People are more accountable if they are aware that somebody is documenting the outcomes of the
meeting.

Definition Of Problem For Sales Department
Definition of Problem The problem presented within this particular situation centers around the high
number of sales for the next year being predicted by the sales department. The owners of the
company, Mr. Sparks and Ms. Cash, based on their experiences, believe these numbers to be
unrealistic and want more accurate numbers to be calculated. However, upon interviewing those
within the sales department, it is found they see no problem in their numbers and are quick to
provide reasons for them. They exhibit a very high level of confidence in their ability to deliver.
Lastly, when confronted with data such as lost accounts, they are quick to push the negativity onto
other departments, taking no blame for any failures.
Concepts that Address the Problem
–Over Confidence– The next year's projections by the sales team are considered by Mr. Sparks and
Ms. Cash to be high. They do not agree with the numbers because of their experiences and data
known by them. To correct this issue the reasoning by the sales team must be understood. The
concept of Over Confidence (Ricciardi, 2000) entails the manner in which humans often think more
of themselves or their own abilities than what is realistic.
This describes the overconfidence of the sales people and their belief that they will achieve the
projected lofty goals. Furthermore, as the sales people are quick to dismiss the loss of accounts the
previous year, their over confidence and failure to admit their own failures, leads

Meeting Of Linden Knoll Condominium Units Owners
Bob,
Your March 5 dated "Notice of Meeting of Linden Knoll Condominium Units Owners" had as it
stated purpose a single agenda item: "Budget vote to ratify or reject the Operating Budget Fiscal
Year June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017".
Subsequently, on Friday, March 11, 2016 another "Notice of Homeowner Budget Meeting" was
posted on the townhouse bulletin board, listing a different agenda to include: "HVAC upgrades –
phase 3 (buildings 3 and 4), Elevator upgrades – engineer VTX, Townhouse Roof – proposal update,
Ongoing Assessment, Budget – 2016 – 2017 Operating budget ratification of budget adopted by
Council on 2/15/2016"
The meeting was called to order and a Roll Call of Council Members taken, presumably to
determine the presence of a quorum of Council. What was the purpose for the Roll Call if this was a
unit owners meeting? The meeting then proceeded with discussions of the HVAC phase 3 upgrade
cost ($94,880) and the elevator engineer phase 1 and 2 costs, $4,662 and $8,609 respectively. With
respect to each separate item motions were made, seconded and passed by Council to authorize
these expenditures. At no time was input on these motions sought from homeowners.
Next, some comments were made about the townhouse roofs but no action was taken. Recollection
is that the agenda topic "Ongoing Assessment ' was not addressed or reported. Finally, a presentation
of a 'proposed budget ', approval of which cannot be documented in posted Council meeting
minutes, was offered and

Harley Eullman Schools Case Study
The Pullman School Board held it's monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The Board voted
to pass a new budget for the 2018–2019 school year, and to continue using the current biology
textbooks despite concern from some local parents. The Board voted 7–2 to continue remedial
summer courses for an additional year. Seven retiring teachers were honored at the meeting,
including Nina Paynick, who had worked as a teacher for 44 years. The Board also unanimously
approved a resolution to praise ADDITIONS, the cohort of adult volunteers who contribute their
time to Pullman schools. The approved 2018–2019 budget totals $618.7 million, a 5% increase from
the current year. The budget includes $9.3 million for a new elementary school, which will be
located on West Madison Avenue and opened in two years. Also included in the budget is a 4.5%
raise for teachers and a 6% raise for administrators. Superintendent Gary Hubbard's salary was
increased by $10,000, to $137,000 per year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Local parent Claire Sawyer challenged the current books, stating that she did not want her children
learning from the books, as they fail to address the theory of creationism. Harley Eulon countered
Sawyer's statement, saying that evolution is a fact rather than a theory, and that some of the parents
were trying to force religious teachings on children. Raymond Cross added that it is not the school's
responsibility to teach creationism in the classroom. The Board concluded that parents should be
encouraged to discuss the matter with their children at home, using the religious training they deem
most appropriate for their

Communication Is The Easiest And Most Effective Form Of...
Within most workplaces, the easiest and most effective form of communication is to bring all
employees involved together into the same room for a meeting. This idea was and still is a preferred
method of communication. The idea of meetings stretches across all industries and cultures, and has
the potential to be extremely effective. The trouble though, is that workplace meetings do not always
live up to their potential and are not as effective as they could be. A manager's ability to lead an
efficient and effective meeting is a very important skill to have within the realm of communication.
In order to try and find out what it takes to run an effective meeting, several sources written by
academics will be summarized and examined. To begin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study also found that focused communication lead to better team effectiveness, as did speaking
up when goals were unclear. This article gives strong indication that preparation is extremely
important, so the manager can come into the meeting knowing what it is that they want to talk about.
It also shows that giving an introduction is very important as well, as the data clearly shows that
effectiveness rises when people are given context and clarity to what they are trying to achieve. The
clarity of the meeting's goal is not the only aspect that makes meetings run smoothly, as will be
shown with the next source.
The second article that discusses the theory of meetings is titled Meetings: Necessary Evil or
Effective Management Tool? By Pratt (2001). In this article, it looks at ways that managers can use
meetings more effectively. Effective meetings are describes as to have the following factors,
"important issues are discussed, time is not wasted, team members do not "turn off" and stop
contributing, high–quality decisions are made, and power is not usurped by cliques" (p.244) .The
paper is based off of the author's idea that meetings are an essential tool for managers but that many
managers don't know how to use them properly, which leads to wasted time. Pratt gives several
suggestions on how managers can improve their meeting skills. The first is to know why you want

The Government Entity That I Interacted With Was The Lamar
The government entity that I interacted with was the Lamar School District Re–2 School Board in
Lamar, Colorado. I attended a meeting on February 13, 2017 at Central Office, 210 West Pearl
Street. The meeting started at 6:30 PM. I was not able to take part in the meeting because I am not a
member of the board, but I was able to take note on what was being discussed and give a report
about it to my student body government at my high school. There were many topics that were
discussed at this meeting. The first section of the meeting was reports about the food service and
financial standing of the school district. The food service report states that they have distributed

It was approved and the meeting came to an end (February Meeting Minutes, 2017).
I did not attend the following meeting in March, and the minutes from the meeting have not been
uploaded on Lamar School District Re–2 website.
The reason that I chose this body of government is because it directly is involved with my
education. Every decision that is made whether it be from budge spending to curriculum changes, it
will somehow affect me. I know that I am a senior and many of their choices that will be made the
rest of this year will not affect me anymore. However, by going and seeing how the meeting are
conducted and how the choices are made, I can better understand why they make the decisions they
make. New policies and decisions will not affect me, but I do have a younger brother who still has
two more years of high school. I want him to know that the choices made by those few people on
the school board, have a profound effect on hundreds of children attending the schools in the district
and should pay attention the decisions being made. From some of the discussions they have had
since the meeting will really affect him and I feel like going and being an active member would help
him understand why the decisions are being made. This was a good form of government to take part
in because it models in a smaller setting what the United States government does. Also, later in life,
it is important to understand and be informed on how decisions are

The Role Of Role Of Chairperson For The Mra
Preparation is essential when acting in the role of Chairperson for the MRA. It was not enough to
understand the Elizabeth Quay project and the agenda of the MRA; I needed a thorough
understanding of the background, concerns and risks for each stakeholder's organisation and their
contribution to the development. This understanding underpinned the preparation of my oral
presentation and provided a foundation to anticipate the agenda of the other parties. An informed
position is powerful – I entered the negotiation with a clear agenda, an understanding of allowable
concessions, counterarguments to foreseeable challenges and the ability to communicate in an
empathetic way. Crucially, a thorough understanding of the Elizabeth Quay development viewed
from different stakeholder positions, prepared me to facilitate an open and respectful dialogue.
Whilst preparation was an essential element for knowing what to discuss – how to communicate
these points determines the success or failure of the overall negotiation.
Communication is the vehicle of negotiation. A negotiation is the process of discussing objectives
with the view to reaching a consensus. Further, this process requires respectful, clear
communication and active listening. During the process of the negotiation active listening is pivotal
– paraphrasing and parroting ensures other parties that their agenda has been understood and
considered, creating a feeling of open discussion rather than placing people in the position

The Braindead Megaphone: Movie Analysis
Words mean everything. How you present them, the tone you use and the purpose behind them.
Using a megaphone as a metaphor, George Sanders presents the idea of speaking with direction and
getting an audience's attention. Words only mean so much if can't speak with intelligence and
thoughtfulness. Sanders describes how the media can have an effect on an audience's thoughts and
imagination. In The Braindead Megaphone; George Sanders explains the four ways to effectively
communicate your message is, the clarity of language, the agenda of information, the time
constructing your narrative, and the amount of time allowed for the communication.
In the movie Coach Carter, speech plays a major role and directly correlates to George Sanders
points. This movie is about a basketball team, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coach Carter turns this team of players who continue to fail in the classroom, in their community
and on the court into men of character. This dramatic change in these student athletes reveal how
important speech can impact someone.
Early in the movie, before Coach Carter is introduced to the team, the movie highlights the bad
behavior of the athletes. As the team practices in the gym, clearly showing no organization what so
ever, the present coach brings in Coach Carter to introduce him to the team. As the two coaches
walk up to the practice, the current coach yells out, "Guys, Guys!" The team slowly but surely turns
around and looks directly at the coach. Now this small instance relates to Sanders' story of the
"Megaphone Guy" who walks into a party and starts talking through the megaphone and people
naturally turned to listen. It relates

A Proposed Communication Strategy Throughout The...
6. A proposed communication strategy throughout the implementation of the marketing activities.
Your communication strategy should ensure that all team members are kept informed of each
other'sactivities.
 Draft an email, formal letter or other written response: since the involved stakeholders of this
project are from both internal and external consultants and experts, emails, business letters and
correspondences are the best and efficient way to convey and deliver the required business messages
and information among them. There is some special requirement during the communication process
that all the emails and business letters should be copied to all the involved stakeholders to ensure all
the parties receive the important business information and decisions.
 Organize a meeting: in case of any business requirements a formal meeting should be arranged
and conducted to ensure the critical business decisions are made during the meeting. It is
recommended all the invited meeting participants should attend the meeting and all the decisions
should be made during the meeting conduction. In addition all the inquiries and confusion should be
brought up to the meeting and ensure all the discussion are transparent and thorough. After the
meeting conduction detailed and accurate meeting minutes will be distributed all the participants
and those absent.
 Use text messaging or other mobile telephone communication: While implementing our strategy
we will need to be very active in

Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting
Regular City Council Meeting
I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that happens around my
community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge what they do not know or understand.
Too often we are quick to criticize and lash after what other people say or do simply because we do
not understand it. This fact describes the character and attitude of many people especially when it
comes to politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The average people is
generally unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend their tax money. You only
need to look at the dismally low voter turn out to confirm this fact. This should to change and for
me, this change came on 26th October 2017, when I decided to attend The Tempe City Regular
Council Meeting. I had never attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is perhaps owing to
the attitude of most people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had not seen any local issue
that moved me enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard or to be curious enough to
want to find out about the secrets of the operations of the local government. Generally, I knew that
the decisions made and policies developed by the city government affected my life directly or
indirectly. However, to sit and watch all the work and grind that goes to the formulation of these
policies and decisions has made me realize that democracy is not self–driving.
The Chambers
After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City Council Chambers
which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I got in two minutes before the
official starting time, the room was almost fully occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a
position where I could follow the proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two seating
areas one for the Council Members and the other for the members of the public. The two areas face
each other and are separated in the middle by a corridor that connects to two main entrance/exit
points. The area accommodating the councilmembers is at a relatively elevated angle compared to
the area where the citizens sit to facilitate easy and effective engagement.

Henry Tam Case Study
What is your evaluation of MGI's team processes? What were the root causes of the team's process
problems?
The root cause of MGI's process problems are a lack of direction and clear personal responsibilities.
When looking at the team meetings it is very clear that there was little organization to their efforts. It
also seemed as though there was not sufficient purpose to the team's efforts. Many members were
more interested in validating their ideas on what to do to others rather than exchanging ideas or
creating an open environment. Quiet often there would be time spent on one topic, then another,
then more and more without resolving the first topic. The arguments between Sasha and Dana, the

Additionally, Alexander would prove to be helpful in both the business aspect and music portions of
the project. As a whole the team looked exceptionally strong based on their experiences and varying
degrees of education in their fields. The different personalities posed a critical issue with the team
but would eventually be addressed in future meetings.
Were the differences among the team members a liability or an asset?
As in every team there will be differences of opinion and therefore stress in the working group.
During this case study we saw the largest differences between Sasha and the HBS Business Plan
Team. The team was excited about competing in the contest not only for the experience but to
practice their skills for future business opportunities as well. In this sense not only were the
differences between the musicians and the HBS students an asset, it was their differences that led the
musicians to seek out the HBS students in the first place. Tension between Dana, Henry, and the
Russians was seen in the following meetings when Sasha felt his material was ignored. In that sense
their differences were a major liability. Dana and Henry were also getting annoyed by the fact that
they were doing the majority of the work even when they had other things to do. As time went on
they learned how to operate better and became more aware of how to look past

The Steps Listed Describe The Procedures I Will
The steps listed describe the procedures I will use to implement book clubs:
1. Introduction – Setting a purpose I will explain to students that our objective in book club for 7th
will be accountability. To illustrate, I will ask students about their literature circle experiences.
Unlike literature circles (which many students participated in during grades 3–5), no roles will be
assigned but everyone is responsible for the reciprocal reading strategies. These strategies will be on
an anchor chart to be displayed throughout the year. Next, I will show the brief YouTube video "8th
Grade Book Club and Accountable Talk" and ask students to describe the behaviors observed. The
video will prompt a discussion about book club our upcoming discussions.
2. Pre–reading activities
Set ground 3–5 ground rules. This will be a whole class endeavor, not a list developed solely by the
teacher. However, the rules should indicate that the book group is a safe environment (as is the
entire classroom) where everyone has a voice. Rules that alert students to be respectful, responsible
and agree to disagree are common suggestions. Allow students to make the book club ground rules
chart to display. Distribute and discuss the Responsibility and Accountability Rubric.
Teach teamwork and conflict resolution skills. Use notecards to describe scenarios that arise when
working in groups. Have students act out skits that demonstrate problems and possible solutions.

Different Types Of Groups Formed For Particular Purposes
For every organization, there are different types of groups formed for particular purposes. The most
common groups are; formal, informal, command groups and committees.
For this particular task, the group was a committee made up of members from different departments
within the company. The key players in the committee were drawn from the human resource (HR)
assistants/specialists, the HR management, and the hospital director along with other senior hospital
administrators. The members mentioned above of the committee where called to discuss and assess
issues regarding the reason for the occasional delay in background check investigations within the
organization which caused a delay in the hiring process. Members of the management department
handle issues regarding how to better manage this process; human resource specialist were called to
handle the logistical issues and the assistants handle issues of suppliers and customer while
members of the management provide direction and inputs in case of disagreements.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the reason behind the delay in completing
background investigations, which had been undergoing problems in recent times. The meeting was
meant to figure out what was causing delays in the completion of background checks and find
solutions to ensure that the issues were thoroughly dealt with and a lasting solution adopted. The
main agenda, of course, being the delays in the process and the steps required to solve the

The City Hall Building Stand Out
It is funny that one have never been to public meeting in his or her own country, but instead went to
one in the United State. The City Hall building stand out by itself given the historical look to it. It
was busy as it was regular business day, people come in and out by seconds. There are also lots of
public service buildings surrounded the City Hall, such as fire department, police station, city
library, Hall of Justice, Los Angeles Historical Monument and much more. It was surprisingly
interesting to observe public service buildings' structure and their location. All the services are not
far from the area, which resemble a spider web is some way. There were also a huge park behind the
City Hall which gives plenty of open space to held different kinds of activities. Los Angeles in
general is a much denser city compared to cities in state of Arizona.
For the Progress of the Meeting and Possible Improvements there are quite a few point are easily
noticeable. The meeting under consideration took place at John Ferraro Council Chamber room 340,
City Hall 200 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012 starting at 10:00 a.m. The meeting began
well with welcoming remarks from the Speaker and a roll call from the Clerk. There were eleven
members of the council present during the meeting. After the roll call, the next item on the agenda
was an approval of minutes by Mr. Englander and a seconding from Mr. Harris–Dawson. Mr. Huizar

Summary Of Agenda 21 By Helen Beck
Agenda 21 by Glen Beck is about a young woman named Emmeline that experiences life in
America that is ran by a dictator ship known as the Authority. This took place because the
government seen that the way people were polluting the earth and wasting resources a change
needed to occur. First they just passed a couple of laws that changed the way people lived and then
in no time more laws were passed that gave the Authority total control over each citizens. Citizens
were placed in separate compounds across the Country, and they worked in their compounds to
support it and the people within. Each citizen was required to give as much as another and wasn't
allowed to have more than someone else. By communicating, relying on herself, enjoying the ...

Emmeline found that out after her mother was taken away from her by the Authority. When her
mother was taken away Emmeline had nothing but her mother's sleeping mat left to remember her
by. So all she had was the memories of walking their boards together and the talks they had about
the past. This was until one day Emmeline felt a lump in her mother's sleeping mat and found a coin,
knife, map of the United States, picture, The Little Prince, the New Testament, recipe cards, a
feather, and lastly matches. Especially when she first found some of the treasures, she said, "I would
wait until the change of shifts before going back to Mother's sleeping mat to look for more
treasures.... It was time to explore deeper, reach deeper, into Mother's mat. I pulled out the picture
and propped it against the wall. I was developing my own little ritual, and it game me comfort" (pg.
129). It's crazy how a little thing like looking at a picture and looking at the treasures she found in
the mat could bring her so much comfort, but I can understand it. In Thomas Moore's "The Sacred
Arts of Life" he agrees with this when he says, "To live with a high degree of artfulness means to
attend to the small things that keep the soul engaged in whatever we are doing" (Moore 292). I
especially can identify with Emmeline, because I lost my grandmother recently and a few weeks
before she died I took a video of her and

Church Meeting Summary
The meeting was about the City of Commission of Deland on March six, at seven pm. First, starts
discussing how people can address an agenda or an unattended issue that can be given to City Clerk
at the proper time. Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting they are going to
explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something very nice that they did
at first is how they made a program called "Super Stars Students of the month" to reward kids for
doing greats in school as a way trying to push them to become something important in the future,
and not giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded the kids but also two employees who
were great in services for a long time. As part of the introduction, they give the quarterly financial
report prepared by Dan Stauffer, which basically shows that the City is doing well so far into each
financial position.

My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they
try to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better
each day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has to
have patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed, approved and
executed. This meeting brought me back to what in class we been discussing on how a policy is
being made and how it first needs to have a solid argument so it could be approved. So far I never
expected for this meet to go very coordinated and smoothly as sometimes is normal for the argument
from the public but in this case that was not the

AC 1.2
Explain the purpose and structure of an agenda
A meeting agenda ensures that the meeting will be a productive use of everyone's time. It can focus
the attendee's efforts and provide a structure to accomplish the meeting purpose. It defines
outcomes, and important information, attendee roles and responsibilities and a meeting timeline. It
allows attendee's to prepare for the meeting as it is made available a week before. It also works as a
checklist of those attending, goals and topics for discussion to make sure that all the necessary
information is covered and keeps team members focused on the specific goals and stay on track with
the subject matter.
A well written meeting agenda makes it easy for everyone to go through the meeting process
smoothly and in an organised manner.

A Speech For Running For A Texas House Of Representative
SHAKYA 4
1 Nisha Shakya Professor, S. Sharifian GOVT. 1 2306–71003 11/08/2017
As I am running for a Texas House of Representative, the agendas that I have set was to consider
social issues such as terrorism, health or mental sufferings and environmental degradation. My reach
of contribution to the society and campaign endorsement through a celebrity figure adds up to a
positive result. If my campaign becomes successful and I get elected, then the three committees that
I would serve would be Criminal Jurisprudence, Human Services, and Environmental Regulation.
To begin with, the Criminal Jurisprudence functions as a committee that shall have nine members. It
is applicable in legal decisions like penalties, criminal law, probation, revision ... Show more content

Since, there are limited amounts of officials in a particular committee, likely thoughts during a
meeting would draw more attention in a certain interest group.
The voter groups are the one who has the highest expectation towards their elected member. It is
first important to analyze the problems in a community to provide service for the voters. Anyone
could be a victim of the agenda that I got elected for, i.e. crimes, health and environmental suffrage.
The constituent services that I would do for the voters is by adhering to make the surrounding a
safer area or strict security, confirming insured people, and creating a green act movement to save
our atmosphere from any kind of degradation. In addition, I would also specifically focus on high
profile cases like crimes so that the voters would be benefited with all the basic needs to sustain as a
secure human being.
About creating a "homestyle", I would prefer something that would influence my voters for
reelection and, also build a trust in them by implementing the ideas presented before the election. It
often happens when the elected leader fails to accomplish their goals which makes their voters to
distrust the political leaders. So, I would focus my district's agenda very strictly by setting up a town
meeting, planning in every perspective and mainly implementing the discussed issues. It is very
important to be physically available in the area of need, providing

Summary Of The Ineffective Meeting
In the video, "The Ineffective Meeting" I recognized that the person who scheduled the meeting was
not present at the scheduled start time, which appeared to be their custom. This resulted in the other
participants treating the recurring meeting as a waste of time and resources. The participants had
negative group roles instead of the progressive positive group roles of facilitator, harmonizer, record
keeper, reporter and leader. Also, there was no clear defined structure to the meeting as related to
topics and roles of the participants. At one point the meeting's agenda was mentioned, however it
appeared to not have been distributed to the entire team. This in turn resulted in team members not
been fully prepared for the meeting.

My Comprehensive Collaboration Project Involved A School...
My comprehensive collaboration project involved a school community meeting, involving people
with various association to education. The meeting originated because of the first workshop poor
parental involvement and lack of community communication, concerning date, time, topic, and
activities. After this disappointing blow and only two district teachers spearheading the event and
activities, a decision evolved, making team membership accessible to all affiliates of education.
Meeting members were paraprofessionals, a master teacher, retired teacher who is now a community
volunteer and a guardian of a grandchild attending school in the district. Within the room, including
myself was a total of ninety–five years of education related experiences. It was important to promote
shared decision–making by including people with different views and implementation styles. When
planning the organization of group members, I kept in mind the ultimate goal of building trust,
through professional participation in community events, thus embracing opportunities of personal
interactions outside school community. Members were willing participants, who close ties, through
daily interaction in neighboring community after school hours, therefore made their involvement
planning parent events crucial for community team success.

must be planning activities before the meeting and leadership activities to execute during the

I agree with the content of this article and think that it lays out a good game plan for leaders to
follow to help run meetings more effectively and get the most out of them. I think the idea of

are aware of what they are walking into. Every meeting I have is like a blind date, I have no idea
what the meeting is about or what will happen during the meeting. Of all of the great suggestion in
this article that is one I think would be truly beneficial and would be great if I could apply it to me
organization. I cannot tell you how many times we have had meetings in which the information

Argumentative Essay On National Night Out
I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned
as an excellent opportunity to connect with one's community. Growing up in a cul–de–sac with a
bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by
the absence of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with
any others, other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community,
however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul–de–sac. The vista of a
neighborhood street filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is
nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live
lives wholly disconnected from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we're home, and then
abscond into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is
kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community–building
campaign that promotes police–community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our
neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of
community weakens the local economy, isn't conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds
disrespect among peoples – urban planning and smart neighborhood development are not only good
for the environment, despite such

Young People Who Transition Into Adulthood
The year twenty–one marks the beginning of many new and adventurous milestones. For young
people who transition into adulthood, twenty–one means finally being of the "real" legal age. Unlike
being 18, 21–year olds have an abundance of responsibilities to themselves as they try to understand
and develop their sense of self and self worth, but also the obligations they have being a member of
a larger community. I am proud of my daughter who has recently talked to me about her depression
that she has been silently suffering from for over 10 years and her struggles with self–harm. Since
she's coming up on her 21st birthday in September, she wanted to express some things that has
tormented her since early childhood. Much of my daughter's depression has come from being an
obese kid. Some may think, well hey that's your fault that your daughter was heavier than other kids
and you failed her in that respect. Though, my daughter experienced constant weight gain from the
ages of 7–11; as she and her other younger relatives spent many summers at my mother's southern
home. Grandma's cooking is just one of those things that's so delicious that it cannot be denied.
However those summers have passed and the weight gain has not only been painful for her, but for
myself. She would come home crying as a young girl talking about how she was verbally and
physically abused. It broke my heart that I couldn't protect my daughter. School is supposed to be a
safe haven and yes children can be

The chairperson ensure the meeting time is well spent and not wasted. They bring the conversation
back to the agenda if participants begin to digress from the topics of discussion.
Who should chair meetings? Why?
The role of chair should rotate with each meeting. This allows those to gain experience
communicating with colleagues and staff.
How long should each meeting last? Why?
The meeting should only last as long as necessary in order to achieve its purpose.
How can active participation in meetings be encouraged?

  • 5. Explain Why It Is Important To Have A Maximum Attendance... The purpose of a meeting is to inform team members of ideas as well as problems that may arise. During meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to voice their opinions and views whilst listening to others points of views. The attendees of a meeting should be people who have got a purpose and opinion towards the agenda of the meeting. Also, a meeting should include a minute taker to record important notes and also a chair. A chair's main responsibility is to lead the meeting by beginning the conversation of all the topics and also to open and close the meeting. Q – Explain why it is important to have a minimum number of attendees for a meeting. (1.2) A – It important to achieve a minimum amount of people at a meeting as if a certain person cannot make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within this meeting, there will be representatives from Quantity Surveyors, Engineers to Architects. If there are no engineers at this meeting, then there should be serious doubt to whether the meeting goes ahead. The important to having the right amount of attendees is so no one can miss out on anything important and also so no decisions are made without their opinion. Q – Explain ways to achieve maximum attendance at meetings. (1.3) A – One way of achieving maximum attendance at a meeting is by sending out an invitation email which gives the recipient the chance to accept, decline or hold the invitation to the meeting. This way, it automatically updates their calendar if they accept the invitation and allows you to know who is attending. Another way to achieve maximum attendance is arranging a time and location that accommodates everyone that you want to be at the meeting. Choosing a time and place when someone is busy will ultimately mean that one person already can't make it. Q – Explain the access, health, safety and security requirements relating to meetings. ... • 9. The Time Management Procedures I Have Developed Two time management procedures I have developed in my internship are keeping a weekly agenda and using a monthly calendar to keep track of larger tasks. Each Linbeck employee is asked to keep up with a PPC (promised percent complete) agenda. At the end of the week, you are expected to enter the meetings and tasks into a standard form. As you complete the tasks throughout the following week, you check off the line items. At the close of business on Friday, you are asked to grade your PPC. Any tasks that were not completed are marked as such, and you are required to explain why the task was not finished as promised. This practice gets me to work on only promising tasks that can be managed in the course of a week. In order to accommodate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Utilizing a white board in your office promotes a community atmosphere that allows for productive conversation. The main problem I have encountered is planning for the future. In the business world, it is impossible to tell what problems will come up. On any given day your priorities can change from that you have planned. It is important to recognize the highest priorities and to tackle those items first so that you can get to the items of lower priority before they become critical. I get to work each morning at 6:30. The first thing I do is check my PPC, email, and outstanding RFIs (requests for information) and submittals. Shortly afterwards I go to a daily engineer huddle where there is a discussion of each engineer's planned tasks for the day. If there is time after the meeting, I like to walk the jobsite in order to get a feel for the work of all the disciplines onsite. Next, I get to work on the promised tasks for the day. Throughout the day, I am in and out of the jobsite office and visiting the work in the field to keep up with progress and make note of any issues. The three types of meetings I am a part of are OAC (owner, architect, contractor), preconstruction, and BIM (Building Information Modeling) coordination meetings. There is an OAC meeting on the first and third Tuesday of every month. Our architect flies in from California on the morning of the meeting, and spends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sarah should call a mandatory meeting with the staff. Once the meeting has started Sarah should first let the staff know that she appreciates all and everything that they do each and every day. I believe letting the staff know that they are appreciated is a good step as a manager when starting a meeting. As Sarah, I would once again explain that there has been concerns from the new owners on how they wanted the wait staff to treat the customers. I would let the staff know the concerns from the customers ranging from the staff spending more time at a table and not paying attention to other customers, the friendliness ... • 33. Definition Of Problem For Sales Department Definition of Problem The problem presented within this particular situation centers around the high number of sales for the next year being predicted by the sales department. The owners of the company, Mr. Sparks and Ms. Cash, based on their experiences, believe these numbers to be unrealistic and want more accurate numbers to be calculated. However, upon interviewing those within the sales department, it is found they see no problem in their numbers and are quick to provide reasons for them. They exhibit a very high level of confidence in their ability to deliver. Lastly, when confronted with data such as lost accounts, they are quick to push the negativity onto other departments, taking no blame for any failures. Concepts that Address the Problem –Over Confidence– The next year's projections by the sales team are considered by Mr. Sparks and Ms. Cash to be high. They do not agree with the numbers because of their experiences and data known by them. To correct this issue the reasoning by the sales team must be understood. The concept of Over Confidence (Ricciardi, 2000) entails the manner in which humans often think more of themselves or their own abilities than what is realistic. This describes the overconfidence of the sales people and their belief that they will achieve the projected lofty goals. Furthermore, as the sales people are quick to dismiss the loss of accounts the previous year, their over confidence and failure to admit their own failures, leads ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Subsequently, on Friday, March 11, 2016 another "Notice of Homeowner Budget Meeting" was posted on the townhouse bulletin board, listing a different agenda to include: "HVAC upgrades – phase 3 (buildings 3 and 4), Elevator upgrades – engineer VTX, Townhouse Roof – proposal update, Ongoing Assessment, Budget – 2016 – 2017 Operating budget ratification of budget adopted by Council on 2/15/2016" The meeting was called to order and a Roll Call of Council Members taken, presumably to determine the presence of a quorum of Council. What was the purpose for the Roll Call if this was a unit owners meeting? The meeting then proceeded with discussions of the HVAC phase 3 upgrade cost ($94,880) and the elevator engineer phase 1 and 2 costs, $4,662 and $8,609 respectively. With respect to each separate item motions were made, seconded and passed by Council to authorize these expenditures. At no time was input on these motions sought from homeowners. The Board also unanimously approved a resolution to praise ADDITIONS, the cohort of adult volunteers who contribute their time to Pullman schools. Within most workplaces, the easiest and most effective form of communication is to bring all employees involved together into the same room for a meeting. This idea was and still is a preferred method of communication. The idea of meetings stretches across all industries and cultures, and has the potential to be extremely effective. The trouble though, is that workplace meetings do not always live up to their potential and are not as effective as they could be. A manager's ability to lead an efficient and effective meeting is a very important skill to have within the realm of communication. The study also found that focused communication lead to better team effectiveness, as did speaking up when goals were unclear. This article gives strong indication that preparation is extremely important, so the manager can come into the meeting knowing what it is that they want to talk about. It also shows that giving an introduction is very important as well, as the data clearly shows that effectiveness rises when people are given context and clarity to what they are trying to achieve. The clarity of the meeting's goal is not the only aspect that makes meetings run smoothly, as will be shown with the next source. The second article that discusses the theory of meetings is titled Meetings: Necessary Evil or Effective Management Tool? By Pratt (2001). In this article, it looks at ways that managers can use meetings more effectively. Effective meetings are describes as to have the following factors, "important issues are discussed, time is not wasted, team members do not "turn off" and stop contributing, high–quality decisions are made, and power is not usurped by cliques" (p.244) .The paper is based off of the author's idea that meetings are an essential tool for managers but that many managers don't know how to use them properly, which leads to wasted time. I was not able to take part in the meeting because I am not a member of the board, but I was able to take note on what was being discussed and give a report about it to my student body government at my high school. I did not attend the following meeting in March, and the minutes from the meeting have not been uploaded on Lamar School District Re–2 website. The reason that I chose this body of government is because it directly is involved with my education. Every decision that is made whether it be from budge spending to curriculum changes, it will somehow affect me. I know that I am a senior and many of their choices that will be made the rest of this year will not affect me anymore. However, by going and seeing how the meeting are conducted and how the choices are made, I can better understand why they make the decisions they make. New policies and decisions will not affect me, but I do have a younger brother who still has two more years of high school. I want him to know that the choices made by those few people on the school board, have a profound effect on hundreds of children attending the schools in the district and should pay attention the decisions being made. From some of the discussions they have had since the meeting will really affect him and I feel like going and being an active member would help him understand why the decisions are being made. This was a good form of government to take part in because it models in a smaller setting what the United States government does. • 57. The Role Of Role Of Chairperson For The Mra Preparation is essential when acting in the role of Chairperson for the MRA. It was not enough to understand the Elizabeth Quay project and the agenda of the MRA; I needed a thorough understanding of the background, concerns and risks for each stakeholder's organisation and their contribution to the development. This understanding underpinned the preparation of my oral presentation and provided a foundation to anticipate the agenda of the other parties. An informed position is powerful – I entered the negotiation with a clear agenda, an understanding of allowable concessions, counterarguments to foreseeable challenges and the ability to communicate in an empathetic way. Crucially, a thorough understanding of the Elizabeth Quay development viewed from different stakeholder positions, prepared me to facilitate an open and respectful dialogue. Whilst preparation was an essential element for knowing what to discuss – how to communicate these points determines the success or failure of the overall negotiation. Communication is the vehicle of negotiation. A negotiation is the process of discussing objectives with the view to reaching a consensus. Further, this process requires respectful, clear communication and active listening. During the process of the negotiation active listening is pivotal – paraphrasing and parroting ensures other parties that their agenda has been understood and considered, creating a feeling of open discussion rather than placing people in the position ... In The Braindead Megaphone; George Sanders explains the four ways to effectively communicate your message is, the clarity of language, the agenda of information, the time constructing your narrative, and the amount of time allowed for the communication. Your communication strategy should ensure that all team members are kept informed of each other'sactivities.  Draft an email, formal letter or other written response: since the involved stakeholders of this project are from both internal and external consultants and experts, emails, business letters and correspondences are the best and efficient way to convey and deliver the required business messages and information among them. There is some special requirement during the communication process that all the emails and business letters should be copied to all the involved stakeholders to ensure all the parties receive the important business information and decisions.  Organize a meeting: in case of any business requirements a formal meeting should be arranged and conducted to ensure the critical business decisions are made during the meeting. It is recommended all the invited meeting participants should attend the meeting and all the decisions should be made during the meeting conduction. In addition all the inquiries and confusion should be brought up to the meeting and ensure all the discussion are transparent and thorough. After the meeting conduction detailed and accurate meeting minutes will be distributed all the participants and those absent.  Use text messaging or other mobile telephone communication: While implementing our strategy we will need to be very active in ... • 69. Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting Regular City Council Meeting I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that happens around my community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge what they do not know or understand. Too often we are quick to criticize and lash after what other people say or do simply because we do not understand it. This fact describes the character and attitude of many people especially when it comes to politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The average people is generally unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend their tax money. You only need to look at the dismally low voter turn out to confirm this fact. This should to change and for me, this change came on 26th October 2017, when I decided to attend The Tempe City Regular Council Meeting. I had never attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is perhaps owing to the attitude of most people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had not seen any local issue that moved me enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard or to be curious enough to want to find out about the secrets of the operations of the local government. Generally, I knew that the decisions made and policies developed by the city government affected my life directly or indirectly. However, to sit and watch all the work and grind that goes to the formulation of these policies and decisions has made me realize that democracy is not self–driving. The Chambers After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City Council Chambers which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I got in two minutes before the official starting time, the room was almost fully occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a position where I could follow the proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two seating areas one for the Council Members and the other for the members of the public. The two areas face each other and are separated in the middle by a corridor that connects to two main entrance/exit points. The area accommodating the councilmembers is at a relatively elevated angle compared to the area where the citizens sit to facilitate easy and effective engagement. ... The root cause of MGI's process problems are a lack of direction and clear personal responsibilities. When looking at the team meetings it is very clear that there was little organization to their efforts. It also seemed as though there was not sufficient purpose to the team's efforts. Many members were more interested in validating their ideas on what to do to others rather than exchanging ideas or creating an open environment. As a whole the team looked exceptionally strong based on their experiences and varying degrees of education in their fields. The different personalities posed a critical issue with the team but would eventually be addressed in future meetings. Were the differences among the team members a liability or an asset? As in every team there will be differences of opinion and therefore stress in the working group. During this case study we saw the largest differences between Sasha and the HBS Business Plan Team. The team was excited about competing in the contest not only for the experience but to practice their skills for future business opportunities as well. In this sense not only were the differences between the musicians and the HBS students an asset, it was their differences that led the musicians to seek out the HBS students in the first place. Tension between Dana, Henry, and the Russians was seen in the following meetings when Sasha felt his material was ignored. In that sense their differences were a major liability. • 77. The Steps Listed Describe The Procedures I Will The steps listed describe the procedures I will use to implement book clubs: 1. Introduction – Setting a purpose I will explain to students that our objective in book club for 7th will be accountability. To illustrate, I will ask students about their literature circle experiences. Unlike literature circles (which many students participated in during grades 3–5), no roles will be assigned but everyone is responsible for the reciprocal reading strategies. These strategies will be on an anchor chart to be displayed throughout the year. Next, I will show the brief YouTube video "8th Grade Book Club and Accountable Talk" and ask students to describe the behaviors observed. The video will prompt a discussion about book club our upcoming discussions. 2. Pre–reading activities Set ground 3–5 ground rules. This will be a whole class endeavor, not a list developed solely by the teacher. However, the rules should indicate that the book group is a safe environment (as is the entire classroom) where everyone has a voice. Rules that alert students to be respectful, responsible and agree to disagree are common suggestions. Allow students to make the book club ground rules chart to display. Distribute and discuss the Responsibility and Accountability Rubric. Teach teamwork and conflict resolution skills. Use notecards to describe scenarios that arise when working in groups. This took place because the government seen that the way people were polluting the earth and wasting resources a change needed to occur. First they just passed a couple of laws that changed the way people lived and then in no time more laws were passed that gave the Authority total control over each citizens. Citizens were placed in separate compounds across the Country, and they worked in their compounds to support it and the people within. So all she had was the memories of walking their boards together and the talks they had about the past. This was until one day Emmeline felt a lump in her mother's sleeping mat and found a coin, knife, map of the United States, picture, The Little Prince, the New Testament, recipe cards, a feather, and lastly matches. Especially when she first found some of the treasures, she said, "I would wait until the change of shifts before going back to Mother's sleeping mat to look for more treasures.... It was time to explore deeper, reach deeper, into Mother's mat. I pulled out the picture and propped it against the wall. I was developing my own little ritual, and it game me comfort" (pg. 129). It's crazy how a little thing like looking at a picture and looking at the treasures she found in the mat could bring her so much comfort, but I can understand it. In Thomas Moore's "The Sacred Arts of Life" he agrees with this when he says, "To live with a high degree of artfulness means to attend to the small things that keep the soul engaged in whatever we are doing" (Moore 292). First, starts discussing how people can address an agenda or an unattended issue that can be given to City Clerk at the proper time. Also, the meeting gives information on how later in the meeting they are going to explain a new resolution of the surplus of the house abandonment. Something very nice that they did at first is how they made a program called "Super Stars Students of the month" to reward kids for doing greats in school as a way trying to push them to become something important in the future, and not giving up their dreams. Not only had they rewarded the kids but also two employees who were great in services for a long time. As part of the introduction, they give the quarterly financial report prepared by Dan Stauffer, which basically shows that the City is doing well so far into each financial position. My conclusion with this meeting is that the city does take care of the opinion of the public as they try to explain the issue in a very clear matter; we could see that the city is trying to become better each day and trying to resolve the problems presented but again is something that the people has to have patience into knowing that these agendas take a long period into being analyzed, approved and executed. This meeting brought me back to what in class we been discussing on how a policy is being made and how it first needs to have a solid argument so it could be approved. So far I never expected for this meet to go very coordinated and smoothly as sometimes is normal for the argument from the public but in this case that was not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sharifian GOVT. 1 2306–71003 11/08/2017 As I am running for a Texas House of Representative, the agendas that I have set was to consider social issues such as terrorism, health or mental sufferings and environmental degradation. My reach of contribution to the society and campaign endorsement through a celebrity figure adds up to a positive result. If my campaign becomes successful and I get elected, then the three committees that I would serve would be Criminal Jurisprudence, Human Services, and Environmental Regulation. To begin with, the Criminal Jurisprudence functions as a committee that shall have nine members. It is applicable in legal decisions like penalties, criminal law, probation, revision ... Since, there are limited amounts of officials in a particular committee, likely thoughts during a meeting would draw more attention in a certain interest group. The voter groups are the one who has the highest expectation towards their elected member. It is first important to analyze the problems in a community to provide service for the voters. Anyone could be a victim of the agenda that I got elected for, i.e. crimes, health and environmental suffrage. The constituent services that I would do for the voters is by adhering to make the surrounding a safer area or strict security, confirming insured people, and creating a green act movement to save our atmosphere from any kind of degradation. In addition, I would also specifically focus on high profile cases like crimes so that the voters would be benefited with all the basic needs to sustain as a secure human being. About creating a "homestyle", I would prefer something that would influence my voters for reelection and, also build a trust in them by implementing the ideas presented before the election. It often happens when the elected leader fails to accomplish their goals which makes their voters to distrust the political leaders. So, I would focus my district's agenda very strictly by setting up a town meeting, planning in every perspective and mainly implementing the discussed issues. Summary Of The Ineffective Meeting In the video, "The Ineffective Meeting" I recognized that the person who scheduled the meeting was not present at the scheduled start time, which appeared to be their custom. This resulted in the other participants treating the recurring meeting as a waste of time and resources. The participants had negative group roles instead of the progressive positive group roles of facilitator, harmonizer, record keeper, reporter and leader. Also, there was no clear defined structure to the meeting as related to topics and roles of the participants. At one point the meeting's agenda was mentioned, however it appeared to not have been distributed to the entire team. This in turn resulted in team members not been fully prepared for the meeting. • 130. My Comprehensive Collaboration Project Involved A School... My comprehensive collaboration project involved a school community meeting, involving people with various association to education. The meeting originated because of the first workshop poor parental involvement and lack of community communication, concerning date, time, topic, and activities. After this disappointing blow and only two district teachers spearheading the event and activities, a decision evolved, making team membership accessible to all affiliates of education. Meeting members were paraprofessionals, a master teacher, retired teacher who is now a community volunteer and a guardian of a grandchild attending school in the district. Within the room, including myself was a total of ninety–five years of education related experiences. It was important to promote shared decision–making by including people with different views and implementation styles. When planning the organization of group members, I kept in mind the ultimate goal of building trust, through professional participation in community events, thus embracing opportunities of personal interactions outside school community. Members were willing participants, who close ties, through daily interaction in neighboring community after school hours, therefore made their involvement planning parent events crucial for community team success. Our school community team was in the "functioning" developmental stage of collaborative teaming. Through census, norms were set, which we all agreed to follow and later, if ... Argumentative Essay On National Night Out I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as an excellent opportunity to connect with one's community. Growing up in a cul–de–sac with a bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others, other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul–de–sac. The vista of a neighborhood street filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we're home, and then abscond into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community–building campaign that promotes police–community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy, isn't conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples – urban planning and smart neighborhood development are not only good for the environment, despite such ... Since she's coming up on her 21st birthday in September, she wanted to express some things that has tormented her since early childhood. Much of my daughter's depression has come from being an obese kid. Some may think, well hey that's your fault that your daughter was heavier than other kids and you failed her in that respect. Though, my daughter experienced constant weight gain from the ages of 7–11; as she and her other younger relatives spent many summers at my mother's southern home. Grandma's cooking is just one of those things that's so delicious that it cannot be denied. However those summers have passed and the weight gain has not only been painful for her, but for myself.
