Challenges of Administrator
1. 1:1 : means one device per student, but in
reality the number of devices per student is
much higher.
2. BYOD : Bring Your Own Device is a
common trend many schools all over the US
have either already integrated or are
considering. It’s a more budget friendly
option than the school providing devices for
every student.
3. Security is the big challenge every school
encounters and one of the biggest reasons

4. Cloud Based Mobile Learning ; Making
sure your school wireless network is
application aware so you can limit the student
streaming say an HD movie on Netflix.
5. Pace of Change : Not all schools can keep
up with the rapidly changing technology.
 Distraction : Many teachers believe that
smart phones and tablets, with internet
connectivity and text messaging services, can
merely be a source of distraction for students
as opposed to a learning tool.

 Some schools have technology, but it
remains unused.
 One PC in the school.
 Too much to learn so they just don't even
start.
 No technology coordinator in the school.
 Can not train everyone at once - how decide
who gets training first in the school ? ·
 Change is difficult !
Challenges for students
 Multimedia : Over three fourths of students
are using multimedia in the classroom, and
this number is constantly increasing.
 Technology Out-thinking the Instruction :
Discrepancies as to how much of a crutch
technology can be to a student. E.g. apps
that supply quick, accessible answers for
problems that a student should actually be
thinking about in greater depth.

  • 20. Challenges for teachers  Learning how to use a variety of technology applications  Teachers knowingly or unknowingly are curriculum developers  Expanding content knowledge  Taking on new roles  Responding to individual students.
  • 21. Contd…  Fear of technology.  Fear of the unknowns with new technologies.  Scared to experiment with new technologies.  Think they have to learn it all at once.  Lack of training opportunities.  Lack of technology support.  Lack of time to attend training to learn new technologies
  • 22. Contd…  Lack of time to practice with new technologies.  Lack of time to create lesson plans that incorporate technology.  Some teachers practice a "learned helplessness" - it's easier to ask questions than to try to figure things out for themselves.
  • 23. Contd…  Something more for teachers to add to their already busy day.  Lack of technology in the school.  Students will know more than me.  Learning they must operate the equipment rather than asking the media specialist to do it.  No support from administrators.
  • 24. Challenges of Administrator 1. 1:1 : means one device per student, but in reality the number of devices per student is much higher. 2. BYOD : Bring Your Own Device is a common trend many schools all over the US have either already integrated or are considering. It’s a more budget friendly option than the school providing devices for every student. 3. Security is the big challenge every school encounters and one of the biggest reasons
  • 25. Contd… 4. Cloud Based Mobile Learning ; Making sure your school wireless network is application aware so you can limit the student streaming say an HD movie on Netflix. 5. Pace of Change : Not all schools can keep up with the rapidly changing technology.  Distraction : Many teachers believe that smart phones and tablets, with internet connectivity and text messaging services, can merely be a source of distraction for students as opposed to a learning tool.
  • 26. Contd…  Some schools have technology, but it remains unused.  One PC in the school.  Too much to learn so they just don't even start.  No technology coordinator in the school.  Can not train everyone at once - how decide who gets training first in the school ? ·  Change is difficult !

Challenges for students  Multimedia : Over three fourths of students are using multimedia in the classroom, and this number is constantly increasing.  Technology Out-thinking the Instruction : Discrepancies as to how much of a crutch technology can be to a student. E.g. apps that supply quick, accessible answers for problems that a student should actually be thinking about in greater depth.
