He has been credited as the founder of the
movement called Pythagoreanism.

Hypotenuse is equal to the sum of squares
of the other two sides.

6. PYTHAGORAS was the first to discover
the numbers which were not rational,
around 400BC. These numbers are called
irrational numbers (irrationals), because
they cannot be written in the form of a ratio
of integers.

discovery of irrational number by the
Pythagorean.

7. Pythagoreanism originated in the 5th
century BCE, based on teachings, or
beliefs held by Pythagoras and his
followers.
Pythagoras influenced many great
mathematicians in Greece and Egypt such
as Thales and Plato.
