Wildlife-Conservation and Importance(India)
Meaning of Conservation
Conservation is the act of using and protecting resources properly. Catching animals, throwing
garbage, and using and harnessing the different resources should all adhere to the proper way of
conservation.
Wildlife includes all non–domesticated plants, animals and other organisms. Domesticating wild
plant and animal species for human benefit has occurred many times all over the planet, and has a
major impact on the environment, both positive and negative. Wildlife can be found in all
ecosystems. Deserts, rain forests, plains, and other areas including the most developed urban sites

Many processes associated human habitation of an area cause loss of this area and decrease the
carrying capacity of the land for that species.
Examples of habitat destruction include grazing of bush land by farmed animals, changes to natural
fire regimes, forest clearing for timber production and wetland draining for city expansion. Impact
of introduced species
The vast majority of species exposed to a new habitat do not reproduce successfully. Occasionally,
however, some populations do take hold and after a period of acclimation can increase in numbers
significantly, having destructive effects on many elements of the native environment. The Rattus
Rattus is native to India, but it has spread to almost everywhere in the world. This rat has directly
caused, or contributed to, the extinction of multiple wildlife species including a variety of birds,
plants and other small mammals. They're blamed for the incredible decline in seabirds on several
islands, including many Hawaiian species
Some introduced species (such as most of our food crops and pets) are beneficial. However, others
are very damaging. People have moved species around the world for millenia, sometimes by
accident, but often with considerable enthusiasm. English garden birds in New Zealand are merely
quaint curiosities introduced by settlers wanting the familiar species of their former homes. Some
introductions have been devastating –

Wildlife Conservation Persuasive Essay
Persuasive speech
"Oil drilling and coal mining are killing endangered wildlife, polluting rivers, creating smog over
wilderness areas and blocking wildlife corridors in America's most treasured landscapes." Said
conservation expert Lydia Millet. People are a main part of animal extinction. Endangered species
are critical to our ecosystem. Without them the world would be unstable. Some of these species are
slowly fading away and we need to defend them. The question people are asking is should we do
more to save and defend animals, well I believe that that everyone should take measures to help
benefit the survival of threatened animals. In this passage you will learn why species are
endangered, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyway at least some are trying to help by working at wildlife conservation and some states bare
making wildlife corridors. Some people are even taking the time starting foundations to raise money
to save these animals. There are other things that are helping save these animals like laws and
polices ( to protect wildlife conservations), habitat restoration, and habitat reservation. "The
greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Said Mahatma Gandhi. This
is why everyone should help.
You may expect that it is necessary to devote your time money and energy into saving endangered
animals, but you are mistaken. There are some simple things you can do to help such as recycling ( I
mean thats not that hard), use less energy, choose sustainable products, clean up your actions, but
more important make your voice heard, get involved, and spread the word it's that easy.
I believe that everyone should take part in saving these animals. After listening to me you know why
species are endangered, what is being done to save them, and how you can help. Endangered species
have a great impact on our lives and we need them to thrive, so remember you can

Wildlife Is Being Threatened But We Can Protect It
Have you ever wanted to have a bonfire? Do you love the home you live in? Do you ever waste the
water you drink? The next time you focus on these conveniences or advantages of your life, consider
what you're doing to the wildlife environment. Wildlife habitats are being destroyed in many ways
by many factors. For the purpose of this paper I'm going to focus on the following five areas.
Increased Development
Fire
Pollution of water
Redistribution of water
Natural Disasters
All three factors above represent destructive factors contributing to habitat destruction. A habitat is
defined as an undisturbed natural region in which wildlife lives. For example, fish live in ponds,
bears and wolves, as well as deer and squirrels live in the forest. Lizards and snakes reside in the
desert. To begin with, increased development is a major effect of threatening wildlife. Agriculture is
causing wildlife to be destroyed because forests are being turned into croplands. They're increasing
pressure to redevelop land conservation and crops. Agriculture is killing wildlife because the
habitats are being taken over by croplands. Deserts and forests are continually being wiped out by
developers and investors who are more interested in making money than preserving wildlife. Habitat
destruction is increased by the rapidly growing human population. As populations increase, we, as
humans tend to demand the use of more agricultural land consumption to build our cities and towns

Personal Statement For Wildlife Research
I want to focus in analytical work with wildlife research because I want a career where I have the
background knowledge to change and (implicate?) policies and laws containing wildlife issues. I
want to gain more field work experience by participating in the SULI program, which gives me the
ability to work more in a natural and outdoor setting. This internship will give me the practicality
and application of the methods I have learned in my wildlife survey classes. I could gain invaluable
experience in transect, trail camera, and small mammal trapping. My work with wildlife has mostly
pertained to mammal, avian, and some reptile species. Being able to work with herps and pollinators
allows me to broaden my skills and expand my knowledge of

Trophy Hunting: Beneficial Towards Wildlife Conservation
Trophy hunting is beneficial towards wildlife conservations. Trophy hunting is beneficial because, it
provides a financial income for locals and to keep the wildlife conservations running. Also, hunting
the problematic animals is more beneficial for the surrounding species in these conservations.
Lastly, an economic value towards the wildlife has also been developed, so that the locals have a
larger incentive to not hunt or harm the species and the surrounding wildlife that can further grow
the wildlife conservation.
A large beneficial factor from trophy hunting is the large income from permits. Trophy hunting
legally requires for the hunter to pay for a permit or else they are charged with heavy fines. As said
in a radio podcast by Radiolab, the money spent on giving the hunters the right to kill an animal,
goes toward the local government and local communities, and also the conservations ... Show more

Also as mentioned in Radiolab, the problem animals are often older males that pick more fights and
kill the younger species ("The Rhino Hunter"). The species that are although endangered, removing
the specie that is more problematic will benefit the other species more. By targeting only the animals
that are problematic, often past reproductive age, it benefits the younger species. For example, the
older species are more known for picking fights with other fellow endangered species. This often
results in catastrophic, messy fights that can kill or severely injure both of them. By hunting the
animal that is more dangerous to a species, will benefit the species more, because it increases their
survival without the problematic animal to cause harm. The wildlife conservation's goal is to
preserve wildlife, but if an animal is causing harm to the other animals, it is better for the other
animals if the problematic animal were to be hunted, because the money gained would go toward
saving the

Why Do People Have Not Involvement With Wildlife
I believe that humans should have no involvement with wildlife. People affect the wildlife in bad
ways. Humans need to keep a closer eye on the animals if they decide to put them in a zoo. We need
to make sure that the animals that are there aren't getting bored or going crazy. People have died
because of this. Humans also shouldn't hunt animals for things that they have, such as an elephant's
tusks. Here are some reasons why we should have no involvement with wildlife.
We need to keep a closer eye on zoo animals. We take animals out of their natural habitat and put
them in smaller enclosements. Because they are used to being in big, open fields, they may get a
little bored or resort back to their natural instincts. Animals such as tigers

Human Wildlife Conflicts in Kenya
CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Introduction This chapter comprises of the background, statement of the problem, objectives of
the study, research questions, significance of the study, the scope of the study and the conceptual
framework.
1.2 Background to the problem Every 10 years, the IUCN World Parks Congress (WPC) brings
together conservation experts from around the world to share information and ideas, and set a global
policy agenda for protected areas. The 5th IUCN World Parks Congress was held in Durban, South
Africa from September 8–17, 2004, and was attended by approximately 3,000 protected area
experts, practitioners, and decision makers. The 5th WPC brought human–wildlife conflict (HWC)

WCS has been implementing conservation activities in wildlife region for decades, with significant
wildlife conservation programs in: Indonesia (since1990), Malaysia (since 1984), Papua New
Guinea (since 1977) and Fiji (since 2000).
WCS works at multiple scales to:
i. Conserve living seascapes and viable populations of species ii. Advance knowledge, through
collection and analysis of ecological and social science data, to inform conservation action iii. Build
capacity, establish strong partnerships, and support stakeholder engagement iv. Monitor and evaluate
the effectiveness of conservation efforts for long–term success v Address emerging global
challenges through innovative solutions to challenges posed by climate change, extraction of natural
resources, the need to sustain human livelihoods, and contain the spread of diseases and other
threats to wildlife and human health In Southwest Cambodia, the Cambodian government
established a team of 45 rangers to patrol critical biodiversity areas in the central Cardamom
Mountains. This was started in March 2001 and the team worked together with the International

Wildlife Cons And Cons Of The United State Department Of...
Wildlife Crossings Pros and Cons In 2015, the Washington State Department of Transportation
began construction on a series of improvement to I–90, a key interstate that connects eastern and
western Washington. The project includes many measures to improve traveler safety and efficiency
such as avalanche bridges, expanded lanes, straightened curves, and replacement bridges (WSDOT–
I–90–Snoqualmie Pass East, 2016). However, in addition to those changes, they are also adding
controversial wildlife crossing structures to the interstate that are intended to allow wildlife to get
across the roadway safely without entering traffic. There are several benefits like improved genetic
diversity of our wildlife, less injuries and death from collisions with them, and lower economic costs
as result, but also many drawbacks such as high initial costs, predators exploiting the crossing
structures, and the crossing structures not being used by the animals they were intended for. Some of
the major benefits of the I–90 crossing structures are the increased genetic diversity of our wildlife,
lowering our costs from collisions and less injuries and death from collisions. With fewer collisions
with animals and allowing animals a safe way to cross the roadway, they are able to move more
freely and safely between various populations of their species (Doughton, 2015). This allows them
to breed with those they are not closely related to and makes the population more genetically
diverse. Diversity in

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Research Paper
The ANWR or Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is a refuge specially designed for wilderness
purposes. This refuge is located in the northeast corner of Alaska, and is home to a rich diversity of
over 250 species of wildlife. For a better description, this refuge has been named spiritual,
recreational, historical, and cultural. However, not all would agree that the arctic refuge is a rather
safe place.
In 1966, many Alaska Natives protested due to the ANWR being threatened by dirty oil and gas
development. Since then, many laws and acts have been passed and signed so that the ANWR would
be kept safe. For example, in 1960 President Eisenhower established the Arctic National Wildlife
Range "to preserve wilderness, wildlife, and recreation." Also in 1980, President Carter signed the
Alaska Interest Lands Conservation Act. This act expanded the Arctic Refuge's size, along with
changing its name and some other features. As a result of these actions, the thought of drilling the
ANWR should be abolished. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the first paragraph, this refuge was designed purposely for wildlife. The oil industry
continues to launch attacks to open this national treasure to destructive oil drilling. However, there is
a large amount of people and protesters that are willing to do anything to protect this remarkable
place that some call home. If these oil companies drill this land, hundreds of habitats would be lost.
Even the simplest things such as seismic testing, aircraft and vehicle noise, or even the presence of
humans nearby can drive mother polar bears away from their den and cubs. The critical breeding
grounds for migratory birds would be severely impacted and the same for others. The simple action
of even having humans at this location could destroy a whole species. Although, habitat loss is not
the only reason why this majestic place should not be a drilling

Hunting Conservation : Wildlife Management Tool
Hunting is viewed as a sport or hobby in which the activity of hunting wild animals or game is the
goal, especially for food or sport. On the other hand is Conservation, which is the action of
conserving something, in particular. Preservation, protection, or restoration of the natural
environment, natural ecosystems, vegetation, and wildlife are just some of the examples in which
conservation is exercised. If you were ask anyone, usually you would view Hunting and
Conservation as two opposites. But, some people actually view the two as hand in hand. How is
hunting conservation? It's viewed as a wildlife management tool. Hunting helps balance wildlife
populations with what the land can support, limits crop damage and curtails disease outbreaks. (25
Reasons Why Hunting Is Conservation #17) Also, all together, hunters pay more than $1.6 billion a
year for conservation programs. No one gives more! (25 Reasons Why Hunting Is Conservation
#11) Some may ask "What are the cultural, political, and economic connection between outdoor
sports like hunting and ecological conservation?" Hunting is supported and marketed by the same
demographic that supports the sustainability of preserves and conservation efforts. Without
organized stewardships, human environments would encroach upon animal habitats, thereby
exposing populations to menace, deterioration, and decline. Take the organization 'Ducks Unlimited'
for instance. Ducks Unlimited is a popular brand amongst men in the south

Appropriate Wildlife Management in Nicaragua Essay examples
Nicaragua is a Central American country in tropical region. It is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea
and the Pacific Ocean. Because of the unique location, Nicaragua is the home for various types of
wild animals. Two species I will mention in this paper are Baird's tapir and jaguarundi. They both
live in rainforest ecosystem, which is the natural home for them. Just as all other species live in
Nicaragua rainforest, Baird's tapir and jaguarundi are facing habitat loss issue. Baird's tapir is now
endangered; jaguarundi is currently not endangered but also suffer a lot from deforestation. Putting
in more effort to protect rainforest is one thing Nicaraguan government should do. Long term

Nicaragua is the second poorest country of the western hemisphere and the poorest country in
Central America. Issues with poverty are mainly all Nicaragua cares right now. Environmental
issues such as deforestation are generally ignored by the government because these problems are
considered not urgent enough. However, the government cannot neglect the importance of stopping
deforestation. It is obviously vital to this country. Tourism is a major part of Nicaragua's economy.
Deforestation is threatening this rising part of economy. Without the terrific environment and so
many wild animals, this is no way for tourism to keep developing in the future. Therefore, protecting
rainforest is not only critical for protecting wild animals, but also critical for protecting the future of
Nicaraguan economy. If the government do not take real actions, it will be the doom for wild
animals like Baird's tapir in near future. Nicaragua is a poor country, but it still has an advantage
about rainforest and wildlife. Now it is slowly losing this advantage. Rainforest and wildlife should
be the symbol and hope for this country. Nicaragua cannot afford to lose them. They are simply
priceless.
There are many actions the Nicaraguan government should take in order to save rainforest. Firstly,

choice." Peter Garrett. The United States, and much of the world is dependent on oil, a dying
resource. Oil supplies are limited and fossil fuels are becoming increasingly hard to extract. The
debate over drilling in environmentally important areas is a heated one. Each side of has their own
opinions and proof that their argument is without a doubt, the only way. These preinstalled views are

North America, and perhaps in the entire circumpolar north." (Arctic Refuge: Oil and Gas Issues).
The refuge is a delicate treasure there are few like it in the world and its existence is threatened. The
ecological makeup is one of a kind. The refuge contains five different ecological regions, which are
home to 45 species of land and marine mammal ranging in size form a pygmy shrew to a bowhead
whale. The refuge is also well known for polar, grizzly and black bear, wolf, wolverine, dall sheep,
moose, muskox, and caribou. It is also home to 36 species of fish and 180 bird species (U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service). Perhaps the largest biological issue with drilling in area 1002 is the Porcupine
caribou Herd. Drilling supporters argue that caribou are affected by the drilling operation. Examples
of this are made at the Prunhoe Bay drill site where caribou actually use gravel pads and roads to
avoid insect attacks and are unaffected by human presence. But much of this information is miss–
interpreted. Adult caribou are unaffected by drilling operations. But, cows and their calves are more
sensitive during the first few weeks of calving (Caribou migration). They avoid human disturbance
during this time, so drilling becomes an issue. Cows calf in area 1002 because they need the

Drilling for Oil in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge
The United States should not drill for oil in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge because it would

the Artic National Wildlife Refuge in 1980 (To drill or not to drill?: 6). The Artic National Wildlife
Refuge is also known as ANWR (To drill or not to drill?: 6). The Artic National Wildlife Refuge is
19.6 million acres of wilderness (Scalzo, Jim Lo.: 37). Of the 19.6 million acres in the Artic

Pipelines and oil–drilling platforms will harm caribou, polar bears, and millions of migrating birds
(Come on in.: 38). Whenever some country drills for oil it is more likely than not for that country to
have an oil spill. Oil spills are deadly to animals, hard to clean up, and it takes the land thousands of
years to recover. The United States has already had one major oil spill off the coast of Alaska in
Prince William Sound. If another large oil spill occurred on the water it would have a substantial
effect on whales and other marine wildlife (Experts say Alaska Oil Drilling Hurts Wildlife: 43).
There are over 130 bird species that find breeding, nesting, or resting places on the coastal plain
(Defenders of Wildlife).
All of the oil will be pumped down the Trans–Alaskan Pipeline no matter what. Then it is loaded
onto tankers and shipped out of Prince William Sound, but the tankers that the oil is being shipped
in are at an enormous risk for having an oil spill. This is because most of the ships that pick up the
oil are not doubled hulled. The vast majority of oil shipped from Alaska is carried in aging tankers
with higher risk of leaking. Only 3 of 26 have double–hulls and those are more than 20 years old.
There are three main oil companies who carry oil out of Alaska; Phillip, BP, and Exxon. The first of
Phillip 's four new Millennium Class double–hulled tankers to be built was christened

The Effect Of Urbanization On Wildlife
In modern day urban settings, it is not uncommon to walk outside and experience Madagascar right
in the city parks. OK, maybe not quite Madagascar yet, but cities are getting there. The wildlife that
used to live out in the wild are now migrating into urban areas because there are no resources left for
them in their original homes. The problem is humans. Humans have taken over the resources,
homes, and economies that animals need to survive, so they are forced to come closer and closer to
humans. The movement caused by this is creating many problems between humans and the animals
that are forced to move. Urban wildlife is beginning to cause damage to the environment and needs
to be stopped.
The effect that urbanization has on wildlife is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the causes of fear loss is caused by animals being too closely associated with the millions of
humans that surround them on a daily basis. The animals are forced to reside in human habitat
because they have nowhere else to live. The closeness can cause alterations and "some urban
animals trade personal space for the convenience of the city" (Soniak). Species continue to be made
to live side by side to humans and breathe the exact same air that they do. They practically share
homes with humans now because of the lack of space and the excessive populations of urban
wildlife. What used to be considered taboo is presently different because "the relationship between
humans and large predators is changing" (Mahoney). Large predators who lose their fears and
approach humans in search for food or water are put in danger because humans misunderstand the
animals and what they are trying to tell them. They may view a harmless approach for food as a
murder spree targeted straight at them.
Another problem that follows urbanization is the harmony between humans and animals that has
been around for years is now being disturbed. The amount of wildlife deaths in urban cities is rising
as more human populations expand and grow. Some threats to urban wildlife include: habitat loss,
light and noise pollution, invasive species, chemical runoff/ pollution and habitat fragmentation. For
the urban

Wildlife Biologist Career Essay
The career I chose was a wildlife biologist. Wildlife Biologists study the physical and behavioral
characteristics of wildlife, as well as human actions on animals and their ecosystem. The duties of a
wildlife biologist range anywhere from writing a report to collecting data by experimenting and
observing. For instance, a wildlife biologist may have to collect data from observing animal
reproduction, interaction between species, and movement patterns. Other times, wildlife biologists
will spend time indoors writing papers that explain the data they collected, giving presentations, and
doing pre–experiment research. Usually a wildlife biologist focuses on a specific type of species,
which can include marine mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, ... Show more content on

The current demand for wildlife biologists isn't high, but in the future the demand will increase due
to human trends which include pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change. Although more
biologists will be needed in the future to study human impact on wildlife, the job employment is
only expected to increase by four percent (which is slower than usual) by 2024. The term "wildlife"
refers to birds, whales, gorillas, jaguars, rhinos, sharks, etc.. Like aforesaid, a wildlife biologist
typically specializes in one of these animal categories. However, choice may be limited based on
location. Coast states such as Florida, Texas, California, Alaska, Hawaii and others tend to offer
many jobs in marine biology. Other landlocked states may have jobs that focus on land wildlife.
Generally speaking, this career is available worldwide (including the Galveston area), therefore it
wouldn't be absolutely necessary to relocate. Beginners in the career are likely to start off with a low
position and once again, a low pay. Whenever a person has gained experience in their position, they
are likely to be promoted to a higher position with an increased

Proposal About Wildlife Endangerment
Dear Carter Roberts,
I am writing to you today to express my concerns and to propose a plan regarding the serious issue
with wildlife endangerment. More than 100 million animals are killed each year. Some are simply
killed by hunters which essentially can be debated but the majority are killed for chemical testing
used in biology labs and climate change. We, as a society, need to act to start protecting the wildlife
throughout the world. I believe that this is an important issue because by protecting nature's animals,
we are enriching the earth. When we take care of wildlife, it helps keep water clean and gives us the
ability to drink fresh water. If we can all work together, I think that we can lower the number of
wildlife endangerment all together.
The first thing I suggest you doing is having more conferences on the endangered species act. This
act truly emphasizes on protecting animals and the areas they live in. For example, we should be
courteous towards these animals and not disturb the areas they live in. A vast majority of habitats are
ruined by humans for humans. I do understand that some areas need to be built to develop a stronger
economy, but we also need to think about the animals because we wouldn't be here if they all died.
These areas cover a massive amount of land, so it is important to think about what you are building
and why you are building it.
Next, I think that increasing the funds that every wildlife program has would be a huge benefit for
these

The Endangered Species Act and The Wildlife Conservation...
When a species is endangered, how are they going to be saved? People, from all over the country,
work together and perform tasks to help wildlife. Endangered means a species is close to extinction,
and it is up to humanity to make the efforts needed to save wildlife from this tragedy. All it takes is a
simple gesture in the right direction, like focusing on special rights that protect animals from being
nonexistent. Many efforts have been made to protect endangered wildlife, such as, the Endangered
Species Act, restoring habitats, and reducing wildlife threats. The purpose of the Endangered
Species Act is to help imperiled species and the ecosystems in which they live. It is administered by
the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Marine Fisheries Service. That means,
that the Endangered Species Act has primary responsibility for terrestrial and freshwater organisms,
as well as all land animals. This law protects the rights of wildlife, so it assures the protection from
poaching, and all forms of hunting. Also, for the purposes of the Act, Congress defined species to
include subspecies, and different varieties (Endangered). Benefits of the Endangered Species Act
include, the protection of wildlife and critical habitats, as well as other bonuses. It creates jobs for
wildlife dependent communities and the communities that support and sponsor the Act, by exposing
ecosystems to new natural resources.
Another benefit is that it protects

Hunting Benefits Wildlife Conservation
The United States is home to many different big–game and small–game species of wildlife. The list
ranges from the elusive racoon to the prosperous white–tailed deer, and even to the beastly grizzly
bear. Since the United States government adopted the concept of conservation, due partly to the
great acts of President Theodore Roosevelt, its has been our moral responsibility to protect the game
species of America (Belanger). Our country provides a professional and sufficient way to guide
conservation and to develop, regulate, and manage the nation's fish and wildlife resources with the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and
various other conservation groups and organizations. Hunting is the pursuance and killing of wild
animals for food, trade, or for sport. Hunting has been in the center of this management movement
and in the heart of animal conservation. Hunting contributes greatly to the conservation and
management of wildlife populations. The Anti–Hunting community views hunting as a murderous
activity that hunters use simply for enjoyment (IDA). They argue that hunting may have been a
necessity for the survival of early humans, but now people seek out and take animals entirely for
entertainment. They say hunters pass hunting off as a "sport" to cover up the merciless act of pass–
time (PETA). These in opposition say that animals suffer extended deaths and usually do not die
immediately from injuries caused

The Conservation Of Wildlife Animals
In "Lost in the Wild", Goodall tells us about her love for the animals, as well as her concern for their
future. Through introduction, she discusses that many of the species had and would still be
endangered or extinct due to the negligence of human beings. Goodall concerns, "Will a nature–
loving child born seventy–five years from now long to see a live elephant as I longed to see a
woolly mammoth?". However, she also mentioned that "sometimes heroic efforts are being made to
save and conserve threatened and endangered species." She ends her introduction by points out the
highlight of the stories she is about to recount next. The stories show problems and difficulties
people faces as they work on the conservation of wildlife. One of the wildlife animals being

condors; she describes the redness of condors ' bare head and their strong wings. She continued by

possibility of condors surviving in the wild decreases, the argument finally comes to an end when

there are many problems occurred during the captive breeding, mostly the concerning the

Northwestern Canada. The area was initially set aside by President Eisenhower in 1960, because of
the area's value to the environment. What with it being part of the shrinking tundra, and the only
protected tundra in the United States. However, despite the environmental significance of the

What if, this debate might not be necessary in the first place? What if the notion of the oil a vast
amount of oil isn't tangible? According to the United States Geological Survey or the USGS, the
amount of oil in the ANWR is between 5.7 and 16 million barrels. The process of extracting the oil
will be nowhere near to being done by 2030. While this means a more stable business, it also means
that the drilling will have a much longer–living effect on the area. Also, according to the
Environmental Information Administration, or the EIA, even with the nation's shrinking dependency
on foreign oil with a boom in fracking, current imports of petroleum are far greater than the ANWR
will ever produce. Many groups would argue by mentioning that the ANWR drilling is positive
because it will reduce the United States' reliance on foreign oil, which saves the United States
money. In response to this, the National Resources Defense Council stated that the ANWR's oil
would only serve as a "distraction" from the United States' foreign oil dependency. As stated earlier,

Wildlife Protection And Commercial Interests
Introduction
Throughout history, the battle between conserving the wildlife around us and the need for
commercial interests has led to many arguments. Wildlife protection refers to the practice of wild
plant and animal species and their habitats. A commercial interest encompasses a company with the
purpose of expanding or producing goods or services that are to be consumed by customers. When
the road to expansion first started, most people did not worry about cutting down a tree to build a
home or railroad. Now, however, the argument over what is moral and what is necessary has led to
the question of whether or not a wild animal should be protected or their habitat cut down in order to
make more room for housing or oil pipelines or other man–made things. In this paper, I will be
presenting alternative positions on the topic of the differing priorities of wildlife protection and
commercial interests.
Perspective 1: Pro Wildlife Protection A conservationist is someone who advocates or acts for the
protection and preservation of the environment and wildlife. This particular group of people would
argue that protecting the existing wildlife is more important than other commercial interests.
To begin, conservationists would argue that wildlife has already deteriorated so much and so people
must conserve natural habitats for future generations of both people and animals to enjoy. For

Urban Sprawl and Wildlife Essay
The conquering and development of natural land has in the past, been seen as a mark of human
civilization. In the United States, our progress is often measured by growth and development, but
should this be re–examined? There are many opinions on the subject of urban sprawl and its effects
on wildlife, but one thing is for certain, we are expanding. From 1955 to 2005, urban and suburban
areas grew by 300%, however, the population only increased by 75% over the same period (Ewing,
Kostyack and Chen). According to NatureServe, a non–profit conservation organization, urban
sprawl threatens one of every three endangered species in the United States. NatureServe's analysis
states, "rare and endangered species data shows that three–fifths (60 ... Show more content on

However, they disagree on whether or not it is harming the wildlife populations in those areas. Terris
says "roads and sprawling neighborhoods are replacing pristine wildlife habitats at an alarming
pace, putting the survival and reproduction of plants and animals at risk." Terris also believes it may
be "the problem for U.S. wildlife in the 21st century". (Terris) According to Terris, one victim of
sprawl is the Florida panther, which has been reduced to a population of 30 to 50 adults.
Furthermore, in the Sonoran Desert many plant species are affected, which also affects the animals
that rely on those plants. She goes on to give numerous examples of animals and plants that are
being harmed that spreads across the U.S., supporting the fact it is widespread. Yet, Shaw concludes,
"wild animals increasingly find suburban life in the United States to be attractive." (Shaw) She
explains the suburbs are ideal places for wildlife, citing there are 32 known breeding pairs of bald
eagles in Virginia, a species once thought to be on the brink of extinction. She shows the deer
population is at an all–time high, with a possible 25 million deer in the United States. She accredits
two phenomena to the rise in wild animal populations; including natural reforestation and
suburbanization, both of which create a haven for "edge" type wildlife (Shaw).

Need for Wildlife Conservation
Wildlife Conservation Efforts in India
Introduction
The Indian subcontinent boasts of serving as the natural habitat of a large and varied wildlife. The
sub–continent with its varied geographical spread from the Himalayas in the north to the Cauvery
basin in the south and the Kutch region in the west to the plains of Assam in East present a diverse
range of environmental conditions for some of the most magnificent as well as the rarest wildlife
species of the world in India to exist. The beauty and variety we see in the jungles of India is
difficult to be expressed in words and I bring together the breadth through pictures in this project.
However, the past few decades have seen the greed and negligence of human beings working to the

disturbances.
Last but not the least, the threat of poaching has been haunting the wildlife of India since ages. Even
after the establishment of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, the threat of poaching has not been
totally eliminated.
Wildlife conservation is the practice of protecting endangered plant and animal species and their
habitats. Among the goals of wildlife conservation are to ensure that nature will be around for future
generations to enjoy and to recognize the importance of wildlife and wilderness lands to humans.
Many nations have government agencies dedicated to wildlife conservation, which help to
implement policies designed to protect wildlife. Numerous independent non–profit organizations
also promote various wildlife conservation causes.
Wildlife conservation has become an increasingly important practice due to the negative effects of
human activity on wildlife. The science of conservation biology plays a part in wildlife
conservation. The ethic of conservation, in addition to lobbying by conservationists, has made it an
important environmental issue.
Importance of wildlife conservation Due to the growing impact of deforestation, continuous efforts
are being made by some anxious animal lovers to protect the endangered species of wildlife as well
as those that are on the verge of extinction and thus save the world from running out its

The National Wildlife Federation, or NWF, can be accessed for in depth information via their
interest group website at www.nwf.org. Selection of the National Wildlife Federation, for myself,
was brought forth by my affinity for the outdoors and nature in general. Growing up enjoying
activities such as canoeing, camping, fishing, hiking and boating has allowed myself to gain a
respect for the vastness of our nations wild beauty. Along with this respect comes the aspiration to
pass the joy of the outdoors along to my children and thus I feel diving into the NWF will prove to
be beneficial to our family. Having no prior knowledge of this organization, I am very much excited
about the task of deciphering this entity.
Goals:
For the National Wildlife Federation, their objective is formed around the ideal that our nations
natural habitats and wildlife, along with clean air and water are all things that all Americans have a
right to access. Through conservation efforts the NWF feels the government, along with the nations
citizens, have a duty to conserve and protect our natural resources for current and future generations.

Wildlife Conservation As A Career For Wildlife Conservation
Wildlife Conservation is the practice of protecting wild plant and animal species and their habitats.
Wildlife plays an important role in balancing the environment and provides stability to different
natural processes of nature. One of the ways to participate in wildlife conservation is by being a
Wildlife Officer, also known as a Fish and Game Warden. Wildlife Officers enforce hunting and
fishing regulations and help protect fish and game populations to keep them at healthy levels. They
also help carry out wildlife management programs and conduct research by inventorying animals
and their habitats. The work of Wildlife Officers help protect and preserve wildlife for future
generations and maintain the earth's ecosystem. I want to be a part of this career and enjoy the things
most people don't ever get to. Knowing my interest in this career field, I did an interview with a
previous Wildlife Officer in Arkansas. My interviewee was Todd Calloway, a retired Wildlife
Officer who worked for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for 32 years. He started working
for AGFC on April 1, 1984 and retired on June 30, 2016. His interest in pursuing this career started
at a very young age when his father/grandfather introduced him to the great outdoors through
hunting and fishing. They taught him to respect the outdoor resources that Arkansas had to offer and
that's when he sent a goal to be a part of the AGFC. He got a degree in criminal justice and when he

Taking a Stand on Land, Forest, Wildlife Management
From the age of 15 I have had a job and was always better at work than school. It wasn't until
recently that I decided I need a change, so I chose to start college. My love of fishing and the
outdoors made the decision easy when it came to choosing my major, Land Forestry Wildlife
Management. Although the decision came easy and I feel it is the right career for me, there are many
issues, positive and negative, related to my field. Land, Forest, Wildlife Management does a lot of
good for people and animals but can also hurt. Prescribed burning, wildlife control and forest
management are all big issues related to the field. Prescribed burning, also called controlled burns,
has many purposes. The American Indians set fire to stimulate the development of plants and keep
areas open to produce food (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources). Prescribed fires help
improve wildlife habitat and soil quality. After the burns, the brush grows back greener and lusher,
providing nesting areas for creatures such as deer. In addition, prescribed fires are a cheaper way to
manage vegetation as they require no bulldozing, cutting, or chemicals (Minnesota Department of
Natural Resources). Many argue that prescribed burning is dangerous, but so are other things,
including some things people do on a daily basis. For instance, driving a car. Just starting the car
alone creates a spark that ignites combustion in the cylinders. A spark combined with gasoline in the

The Pros And Cons Of Human-Wildlife Conflict
General introduction
According to the IUCN World Park Congress (2003), Human–Wildlife Conflict (HWC) occurs
when wildlife resource requirements overlap with those of human populations, creating costs both to
communities adjacent to protected areas and the wildlife within them. At present the phenomenon
poses a serious challenge to both the human livelihoods and the flora and fauna globally (Berger &
McGraw 2007).
HWC take place in diverse environments and different animal assemblages and countries and this is
increasingly acquiring the attention of ecologist, wildlife biologists, wildlife researchers and wildlife
managers across the globe (Muriuki et al.2017). Even though HWC has an ancient historical
background, its rising harshness and multi–faced nature has made it a great global concern to
wildlife management, this is due to number of factors such as, habitat fragmentation, land use

where there are high human–wildlife interactions, in places such as forests, river bank and grazing

conflict poses a huge challenge in the sustainability of human livelihoods (Gillingham &Lee 2003;

livestock damages ( Mackenzie and Ahabyona 2012; Schön 2013). The management of HWC drains
the affected countries financially (Lamarque et al. 2009), this calls for better strategic management

Department Of Wildlife Essay
Introduction
"There is a passion for hunting deeply implanted within the human breast...:" Charles Dickens
(Oliver Twist, 1837). Long before grocery stores and frozen food sections, men and women had to
hunt to provide meat and protein for their family. Hunting in order to feed a family or clan used to
be a necessity to sustain life. Anymore, the demand to harvest animals from the wild is not as high
as it once was. However, hunting is still used as a pastime and considered a sport here in the United
States. While many consider it unnecessary because we do have the frozen foods sections, it is a
beloved sport from many Americans.
Even though hunting isn't used primarily for meat consumption anymore, the sportsmen are
expected to eat what they kill and not waste any part of the animal. In addition, ... Show more

as, special clothing, guns, off road vehicles, camp trailers and food while hunting. Hunter's also

Pros And Cons Of Terrestrial Wildlife
Terrestrial wildlife is a key segment of tropical woods groups as pointers of environment wellbeing
and suppliers of critical biological system administrations (Ahumada et al., 2011). Wildlife
customarily alludes to undomesticated creature species, yet has come to incorporate all plants,
parasites, and different living beings that develop or live wild in a territory without being presented
by people. Wildlife could be found in all biological communities. Deserts, woodlands, rain
backwoods, fields, meadows, and different zones including the most created urban territories, all
have particular types of natural life. While the term in mainstream culture as a rule alludes to
creatures that are untouched by human components, most researchers concur that much natural life
is influenced by human activities. This will cause the possibility of wildlife being extinct before
their numbers are known. People had verifiably tended to separate human advancement from
untamed life in various ways including the lawful, social, and good sense. A few creatures, in any
case, have adapted to rural conditions. This incorporates such creatures as tamed felines, pooches,
mice, and gerbils. A few religions pronounced certain creatures to be holy, and in present day times
sympathy toward the regular habitat has incited activists to challenge the abuse of wildlife for
human advantage or use. When productivity of wildlife decreases, people tend looking for them in
new area. This step would allow for

Importance Of Wildlife Conservation In Maasaya
Contrasting the great expanses of Africa to India, one is immediately struck by the emptiness of the
former or perhaps the emptiness of the latter. Yet, it is within these sparsely populated settings that
some of the greatest injustices and threats to the local communities are presented. Land tenure
statuses are greatly contested. The studies – particularly in Kenya and Tanzania look specifically at
the Maasai – but more than that – there is a need to juxtapose their story among a larger story of
land rights to all groups and the power dynamics and policies that have defined them.
For the Maasai, wildlife conservation as well as tourism – and now, industrial agriculture – have
threatened their way of living and today there are advocates on the one hand of community
development (or poverty reduction) and others in the camp of wildlife conservation with very
different suggestions to land use and where policies have been increasingly polarized in either
direction. Many consensus approaches have been suggested – including Conservation with
development, integrated conservation and development projects, Community based conservation
and community based natural resource management – among others. Many of these policies have
failed to impress either of these camps – with the battle between conservation and development as
contentious as ever.

Hunting : The Benefits Of Wildlife Conservation
The Benefits of Hunting
Conservation is the protection and preservation of nature (Peterson 53). Hunting is an important part
of the conservation of wildlife. Hunting is widely considered a crucial part of wildlife conservation.
Hunting benefits wildlife by controlling the population, raising funds for wildlife conservation, and
protect wildlife.
In America, there are 15 million hunters annually ("Hunting conservation"1). Hunting is a common
activity around the world. Hunting is performed for several reasons. Some hunt to provide food,
while others hunt for enjoyment. Hunters are among the foremost supporters of wildlife
conservation (1). Through many ways they help benefit wildlife. Hunting is used as a management
tool around the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hunting is a valuable source of funding for conservation. Hunters pay fees and taxes, which go
towards wildlife management programs (Peterson 22–23). According to North Carolina Wildlife
Resource Commission "hunting related spending supports wildlife agencies through license sales
and the excise tax on hunting equipment" ("Benefits" 1). There have been many federal efforts to
create funding for conservation from hunting. The Pittman–Robertson act was established to raise
funds for conservation by levying taxes and fees (Gooch 2). The Pittman– Robertson act has raised
$10.1 billion since it was enacted in 1937 (Guiden 3). This money is used for conservation all over
the country. According to The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service "the sale of hunting license, tags, and
stamps is the primary source of funding for most state wildlife conservation efforts" ("Fish and
Wildlife" 1). State License and fees raise $796 million a year for conservation programs ("25
reasons" 1). For example, "In Michigan, hunters pay for approximately 80 percent of the
Department of Natural Resources' wildlife management" ("Hunting and wildlife" 1). These
programs have helped preserve the wildlife of the state for future generations. The funding from
hunting has been very successful in supporting wildlife management. North America Contained
Only 41,000 elk in 1907("25 reasons" 1). Today there are over 1 million elk in North America (1).

The Effects Of Grazing On Wildlife And Plant Species And...
Rangeland is any extensive area of land that is occupied by native herbaceous or shrubby vegetation
which is grazed by domestic or wild herbivores. Over the last couple of decades grazing of public
rangelands in the United States has become very controversial. Groups opposing has cited
degradation of public trust resources and detrimental to wildlife and plant species while advocates
believe that grazing is beneficial to the wildlife and plant species and holding up the long tradition
of ranching. However, beyond the arguments of both sides is a complex web of scientific
information, ecosystem processes, and practical issues related to grazing that must be carefully
considered before judging whether grazing is beneficial or detrimental for any given situation. In
most cases the question is not black and white, but rather a matter of weighing the expected effects
of grazing against the objectives for a particular site.
Rangelands occur on all continents, particularly in Africa, Australia and the United States. It
presently occupies about 47% of the world's land and contributes significantly to the production of
ecosystem goods and services. In Australia alone, almost 81% is classified as rangeland. In the
United States 36% is considered rangeland, with 53% located in 19 western states. At present United
States rangelands comprise approximately 770 million acres with the private sector owning more
than half. Rangelands in the United States are diverse lands from the

Implications Of Wildlife In Wildlife
Wildlife
Introduction
Purpose
I would like to briefly summarize why wildlife is important and I'm examining this because it's truly
important that we as people recognize that wildlife plays a big role in how we live.
Problem
Nature is losing its wildlife! The loss can be attributed to two main causes. The first cause is human
interaction. Humans are having too much interference in nature. According to the World Wide
Federation (2017), the forests, swamps, plains, and lakes are being destroyed to make room for
roads, pipelines, and industrial development. These areas serve as the natural habitat for our
wildlife. Without a home, these animals are dying off at record numbers and becoming extinct.
According to Morris (2003), Humans are also killing the animals for food and this choice also
destroys the natural habitat. Many humans are making the choice to catch fish faster than the oceans
can restock. When people choose to destroy these animal's homes, it has a negative effect on the
food chain. When one sees the impact of human interaction on the natural habitat, society must
realize that they have a responsibility to do something because our future as a species on this planet
is in jeopardy.
Procedures/Methodology
The raw data that was collected was 20 random people. You can find the collection on the next page.

“The hunting community ensures that wildlife populations...
"The hunting community ensures that wildlife populations of game species are sustainable from one
generation to the next" (Gibbons 1). Land can only feed and house so many animals before all life
naturally dies off and kills the surrounding area. Once animals are over populated something must
be done to restore balance to the ecosystem. Natural selection in the environment is not enough for
many animals to keep populations at a manageable rate. This is where hunters come in, hunters help
to lower populations in environments to allow other animals and life to thrive in a humane way that
costs less than any other method of control. It is common now for ecosystems to become over run
with a species of animal that will overtake the area they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each environment can only handle so many animals before the environment crumbles and the over
populated animals starve to death and overlap into other animals' food and kill off many other
animals. "Wildlife levels have been on the rise and are now at a point of overflowing their carrying
capacities" (Emmons 3). So the need for controlling animal populations is growing. Thanks to the
increase of population of humans, we are taking more and more land which is making many
environments become much smaller or disappear. With the shrinking environments it becomes
easier to reach the carrying capacity because the carrying capacity shrinks due to the limited
environment they can access. "Hunting is now a necessary mechanism for the population control of
many wildlife populations" (Emmons 3). It is safer and easier for people to open hunting in many
places then it is for the government to trap and move animals to different locations where they
would survive better. Hunting promotes a better ecological balance so that forests and other
landscapes can thrive as a whole along with all of the animals that rely on the same land as those
that are over populated. Hunters not only help the environment by controlling populations, they
work with conservation and ecological groups to build and conserve wildlife and land. Hunters and

The Pros And Cons Of Wildlife Conservancy
Introduction According to the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013, "wildlife
conservancy" means: Land set aside by an individual, land owners, body corporate, group of owners
or community for purpose of wildlife conservation. for Following the enactment of the Act, wildlife
conservation is now a recognized form of land use. There are incentives for largescale landowners to
convert private ranches to conservancies. Presently, there are between 133–140 conservancies
spread across 22 counties covering over 7.5 million acres. In Isiolo county, we have 8 conservancies
straddling across the county. In the recent past, there has been an ongoing battle between
conservancies and the local communities. Dozens of people have been killed or injured. Research
Problem Isiolo already suffers high levels of inter–communal and ethno–political conflict.
Conservancies in Isiolo are increasing as each ethnic group calls for its own conservancy. They may
fail to benefit and empower pastoralists as much as promised. They may interfere with existing
structures for land management. Conservancies have increased land conflicts in certain cases and
become linked with ethnic conflicts by delineating boundaries and by arming members of the
community as scouts. Conservancies may increase arms races ... Show more content on

that intended to provide all kinds of support to the elephant bearing states in India, be it financial or
technical for protection of elephants and their habitats. Elephants, the gentle giants of the forests are
much loved in India and this project was launched when their numbers started decreasing at an

Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge Essay
Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge
Everyday we put tons of pollution into the air, water and ground. Our population is growing each
day and in turn urbanization is expanding. Teddy Roosevelt, being an avid outdoorsmen, knew the
importance of setting land aside for posterity sake and in doing do set a trend for later presidents.
When Richard Nixon set land aside in Alaska, which became the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge
(ANWR), he set it aside to be never tainted by industrialization. Today republicans and some
democrats want to repeal the title of National Wildlife Refuge and drill there for oil. This could have
adverse effects for wildlife and the Inuit natives that call the ANWR and surrounding area home. In

An interesting fact about this issue is that 95% of Alaska's North Slope is open for exploration and
development leaving the ANWR as the remaining 5%(Sierra Club 1). The ANWR was set aside for
a reason, to be protected for later generations, so why drill in the protected site while 95% is open?
An article off of sacbee.com talks about the Gwich'in people and their dependency on the ANWR.
As well as animals being adversely affected the Gwich'in Inuit natives live there. They depend on
the protection of the ANWR because their chief source of food is caribou. They use every part of the
caribou for food, clothing, shelter and their cultural focus point. Repealing the status of a National
Wildlife Refuge would hurt their way of life that they have preserved over the years.
The site is being considered because the people who back this idea don't want the USA being
dependent on foreign oil. The fact is it would not make us less dependent on foreign oil, a 6–month
supply over 50 years is not going to do that. They are also afraid of Saddam Hussien controlling the
oil market, but economists say the world controls the prices. The oil they want to drill would be a
very small amount only about 2% of our total reserves. If they started drilling in 2002 we would not
see it until 2012, meaning we can not cure any problems that may occur before then.

only 1.5 million acres, or 8%, of ANWR, would even be considered for development (What is
ANWR). The controversy surrounding ANWR is whether to drill or not to drill into the 10–02 area.

want to lower gas prices and to create more job opportunities. If the government decides to drill for

Drilling in ANWR could greatly benefit the United States. It could boost the economy, decrease
foreign oil trade, lower oil prices worldwide and create about 750,000 jobs, throughout the United
States. On the other hand it could ruin ecosystems and tamper with wildlife's habitats, for a less than
significant amount of oil. Either way a decision has to be made. Prudhoe Bay is steadily declining.
The question is whether the government wants to continue paying the high price of foreign imports
or drill at ANWR and potentially ruin fragile and ecologically sensitive ecosystems.

Wildlife-Conservation And Importance(India)

  • 1. Wildlife-Conservation and Importance(India) Meaning of Conservation Conservation is the act of using and protecting resources properly. Catching animals, throwing garbage, and using and harnessing the different resources should all adhere to the proper way of conservation. Wildlife includes all non–domesticated plants, animals and other organisms. Domesticating wild plant and animal species for human benefit has occurred many times all over the planet, and has a major impact on the environment, both positive and negative. Wildlife can be found in all ecosystems. Deserts, rain forests, plains, and other areas including the most developed urban sites Importance for Wildlife Conservation * Maintains ecological balance & the organisms have their unique positions in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many processes associated human habitation of an area cause loss of this area and decrease the carrying capacity of the land for that species. Examples of habitat destruction include grazing of bush land by farmed animals, changes to natural fire regimes, forest clearing for timber production and wetland draining for city expansion. Impact of introduced species The vast majority of species exposed to a new habitat do not reproduce successfully. Occasionally, however, some populations do take hold and after a period of acclimation can increase in numbers significantly, having destructive effects on many elements of the native environment. The Rattus Rattus is native to India, but it has spread to almost everywhere in the world. This rat has directly caused, or contributed to, the extinction of multiple wildlife species including a variety of birds, plants and other small mammals. They're blamed for the incredible decline in seabirds on several islands, including many Hawaiian species Some introduced species (such as most of our food crops and pets) are beneficial. However, others are very damaging. People have moved species around the world for millenia, sometimes by accident, but often with considerable enthusiasm. English garden birds in New Zealand are merely quaint curiosities introduced by settlers wanting the familiar species of their former homes. Some introductions have been devastating – ... • 3. Wildlife Conservation Persuasive Essay Persuasive speech "Oil drilling and coal mining are killing endangered wildlife, polluting rivers, creating smog over wilderness areas and blocking wildlife corridors in America's most treasured landscapes." Said conservation expert Lydia Millet. People are a main part of animal extinction. Endangered species are critical to our ecosystem. Without them the world would be unstable. Some of these species are slowly fading away and we need to defend them. The question people are asking is should we do more to save and defend animals, well I believe that that everyone should take measures to help benefit the survival of threatened animals. In this passage you will learn why species are endangered, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anyway at least some are trying to help by working at wildlife conservation and some states bare making wildlife corridors. Some people are even taking the time starting foundations to raise money to save these animals. There are other things that are helping save these animals like laws and polices ( to protect wildlife conservations), habitat restoration, and habitat reservation. "The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Said Mahatma Gandhi. This is why everyone should help. You may expect that it is necessary to devote your time money and energy into saving endangered animals, but you are mistaken. There are some simple things you can do to help such as recycling ( I mean thats not that hard), use less energy, choose sustainable products, clean up your actions, but more important make your voice heard, get involved, and spread the word it's that easy. I believe that everyone should take part in saving these animals. After listening to me you know why species are endangered, what is being done to save them, and how you can help. Endangered species have a great impact on our lives and we need them to thrive, so remember you can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Wildlife Is Being Threatened But We Can Protect It Have you ever wanted to have a bonfire? Do you love the home you live in? Do you ever waste the water you drink? The next time you focus on these conveniences or advantages of your life, consider what you're doing to the wildlife environment. Wildlife habitats are being destroyed in many ways by many factors. For the purpose of this paper I'm going to focus on the following five areas. Increased Development Fire Pollution of water Redistribution of water Natural Disasters All three factors above represent destructive factors contributing to habitat destruction. A habitat is defined as an undisturbed natural region in which wildlife lives. For example, fish live in ponds, bears and wolves, as well as deer and squirrels live in the forest. Lizards and snakes reside in the desert. To begin with, increased development is a major effect of threatening wildlife. Agriculture is causing wildlife to be destroyed because forests are being turned into croplands. They're increasing pressure to redevelop land conservation and crops. Agriculture is killing wildlife because the habitats are being taken over by croplands. Deserts and forests are continually being wiped out by developers and investors who are more interested in making money than preserving wildlife. Habitat destruction is increased by the rapidly growing human population. As populations increase, we, as humans tend to demand the use of more agricultural land consumption to build our cities and towns and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Personal Statement For Wildlife Research I want to focus in analytical work with wildlife research because I want a career where I have the background knowledge to change and (implicate?) policies and laws containing wildlife issues. I want to gain more field work experience by participating in the SULI program, which gives me the ability to work more in a natural and outdoor setting. This internship will give me the practicality and application of the methods I have learned in my wildlife survey classes. I could gain invaluable experience in transect, trail camera, and small mammal trapping. My work with wildlife has mostly pertained to mammal, avian, and some reptile species. Being able to work with herps and pollinators allows me to broaden my skills and expand my knowledge of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Trophy Hunting: Beneficial Towards Wildlife Conservation Trophy hunting is beneficial towards wildlife conservations. Trophy hunting is beneficial because, it provides a financial income for locals and to keep the wildlife conservations running. Also, hunting the problematic animals is more beneficial for the surrounding species in these conservations. Lastly, an economic value towards the wildlife has also been developed, so that the locals have a larger incentive to not hunt or harm the species and the surrounding wildlife that can further grow the wildlife conservation. A large beneficial factor from trophy hunting is the large income from permits. Trophy hunting legally requires for the hunter to pay for a permit or else they are charged with heavy fines. As said in a radio podcast by Radiolab, the money spent on giving the hunters the right to kill an animal, goes toward the local government and local communities, and also the conservations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also as mentioned in Radiolab, the problem animals are often older males that pick more fights and kill the younger species ("The Rhino Hunter"). The species that are although endangered, removing the specie that is more problematic will benefit the other species more. By targeting only the animals that are problematic, often past reproductive age, it benefits the younger species. For example, the older species are more known for picking fights with other fellow endangered species. This often results in catastrophic, messy fights that can kill or severely injure both of them. By hunting the animal that is more dangerous to a species, will benefit the species more, because it increases their survival without the problematic animal to cause harm. The wildlife conservation's goal is to preserve wildlife, but if an animal is causing harm to the other animals, it is better for the other animals if the problematic animal were to be hunted, because the money gained would go toward saving the ... • 11. Why Do People Have Not Involvement With Wildlife I believe that humans should have no involvement with wildlife. People affect the wildlife in bad ways. Humans need to keep a closer eye on the animals if they decide to put them in a zoo. We need to make sure that the animals that are there aren't getting bored or going crazy. People have died because of this. Humans also shouldn't hunt animals for things that they have, such as an elephant's tusks. Here are some reasons why we should have no involvement with wildlife. We need to keep a closer eye on zoo animals. We take animals out of their natural habitat and put them in smaller enclosements. Because they are used to being in big, open fields, they may get a little bored or resort back to their natural instincts. Animals such as tigers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Human Wildlife Conflicts in Kenya CHAPTER ONE 1.1 Introduction This chapter comprises of the background, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, the scope of the study and the conceptual framework. 1.2 Background to the problem Every 10 years, the IUCN World Parks Congress (WPC) brings together conservation experts from around the world to share information and ideas, and set a global policy agenda for protected areas. The 5th IUCN World Parks Congress was held in Durban, South Africa from September 8–17, 2004, and was attended by approximately 3,000 protected area experts, practitioners, and decision makers. WCS has been implementing conservation activities in wildlife region for decades, with significant wildlife conservation programs in: Indonesia (since1990), Malaysia (since 1984), Papua New Guinea (since 1977) and Fiji (since 2000). WCS works at multiple scales to: i. Conserve living seascapes and viable populations of species ii. Advance knowledge, through collection and analysis of ecological and social science data, to inform conservation action iii. Build capacity, establish strong partnerships, and support stakeholder engagement iv. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of conservation efforts for long–term success v Address emerging global challenges through innovative solutions to challenges posed by climate change, extraction of natural resources, the need to sustain human livelihoods, and contain the spread of diseases and other threats to wildlife and human health In Southwest Cambodia, the Cambodian government established a team of 45 rangers to patrol critical biodiversity areas in the central Cardamom Mountains. This was started in March 2001 and the team worked together with the International Conservation team. • 15. Wildlife Cons And Cons Of The United State Department Of... Wildlife Crossings Pros and Cons In 2015, the Washington State Department of Transportation began construction on a series of improvement to I–90, a key interstate that connects eastern and western Washington. The project includes many measures to improve traveler safety and efficiency such as avalanche bridges, expanded lanes, straightened curves, and replacement bridges (WSDOT– I–90–Snoqualmie Pass East, 2016). However, in addition to those changes, they are also adding controversial wildlife crossing structures to the interstate that are intended to allow wildlife to get across the roadway safely without entering traffic. There are several benefits like improved genetic diversity of our wildlife, less injuries and death from collisions with them, and lower economic costs as result, but also many drawbacks such as high initial costs, predators exploiting the crossing structures, and the crossing structures not being used by the animals they were intended for. Some of the major benefits of the I–90 crossing structures are the increased genetic diversity of our wildlife, lowering our costs from collisions and less injuries and death from collisions. With fewer collisions with animals and allowing animals a safe way to cross the roadway, they are able to move more freely and safely between various populations of their species (Doughton, 2015). This allows them to breed with those they are not closely related to and makes the population more genetically diverse. Diversity in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Research Paper The ANWR or Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is a refuge specially designed for wilderness purposes. This refuge is located in the northeast corner of Alaska, and is home to a rich diversity of over 250 species of wildlife. For a better description, this refuge has been named spiritual, recreational, historical, and cultural. However, not all would agree that the arctic refuge is a rather safe place. In 1966, many Alaska Natives protested due to the ANWR being threatened by dirty oil and gas development. Since then, many laws and acts have been passed and signed so that the ANWR would be kept safe. For example, in 1960 President Eisenhower established the Arctic National Wildlife Range "to preserve wilderness, wildlife, and recreation." Also in 1980, President Carter signed the Alaska Interest Lands Conservation Act. This act expanded the Arctic Refuge's size, along with changing its name and some other features. As a result of these actions, the thought of drilling the ANWR should be abolished. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in the first paragraph, this refuge was designed purposely for wildlife. The oil industry continues to launch attacks to open this national treasure to destructive oil drilling. However, there is a large amount of people and protesters that are willing to do anything to protect this remarkable place that some call home. If these oil companies drill this land, hundreds of habitats would be lost. Even the simplest things such as seismic testing, aircraft and vehicle noise, or even the presence of humans nearby can drive mother polar bears away from their den and cubs. The critical breeding grounds for migratory birds would be severely impacted and the same for others. The simple action of even having humans at this location could destroy a whole species. • 19. Hunting Conservation : Wildlife Management Tool Hunting is viewed as a sport or hobby in which the activity of hunting wild animals or game is the goal, especially for food or sport. On the other hand is Conservation, which is the action of conserving something, in particular. Preservation, protection, or restoration of the natural environment, natural ecosystems, vegetation, and wildlife are just some of the examples in which conservation is exercised. If you were ask anyone, usually you would view Hunting and Conservation as two opposites. But, some people actually view the two as hand in hand. How is hunting conservation? It's viewed as a wildlife management tool. Hunting helps balance wildlife populations with what the land can support, limits crop damage and curtails disease outbreaks. (25 Reasons Why Hunting Is Conservation #17) Also, all together, hunters pay more than $1.6 billion a year for conservation programs. No one gives more! (25 Reasons Why Hunting Is Conservation #11) Some may ask "What are the cultural, political, and economic connection between outdoor sports like hunting and ecological conservation?" Hunting is supported and marketed by the same demographic that supports the sustainability of preserves and conservation efforts. Without organized stewardships, human environments would encroach upon animal habitats, thereby exposing populations to menace, deterioration, and decline. Environmental issues such as deforestation are generally ignored by the government because these problems are considered not urgent enough. However, the government cannot neglect the importance of stopping deforestation. It is obviously vital to this country. Tourism is a major part of Nicaragua's economy. Deforestation is threatening this rising part of economy. Without the terrific environment and so many wild animals, this is no way for tourism to keep developing in the future. Therefore, protecting rainforest is not only critical for protecting wild animals, but also critical for protecting the future of Nicaraguan economy. If the government do not take real actions, it will be the doom for wild animals like Baird's tapir in near future. Nicaragua is a poor country, but it still has an advantage about rainforest and wildlife. Now it is slowly losing this advantage. Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Essay "Too often in politics, there are fallacious either/or arguments put up as a justification or an excuse for an action or view which is skewed in such a way as to suggest that there is only one acceptable choice." Peter Garrett. The United States, and much of the world is dependent on oil, a dying resource. Oil supplies are limited and fossil fuels are becoming increasingly hard to extract. The debate over drilling in environmentally important areas is a heated one. Each side of has their own opinions and proof that their argument is without a doubt, the only way. The refuge is a delicate treasure there are few like it in the world and its existence is threatened. The ecological makeup is one of a kind. The refuge contains five different ecological regions, which are home to 45 species of land and marine mammal ranging in size form a pygmy shrew to a bowhead whale. The refuge is also well known for polar, grizzly and black bear, wolf, wolverine, dall sheep, moose, muskox, and caribou. It is also home to 36 species of fish and 180 bird species (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service). Perhaps the largest biological issue with drilling in area 1002 is the Porcupine caribou Herd. Drilling supporters argue that caribou are affected by the drilling operation. Examples of this are made at the Prunhoe Bay drill site where caribou actually use gravel pads and roads to avoid insect attacks and are unaffected by human presence. But much of this information is miss– interpreted. Adult caribou are unaffected by drilling operations. But, cows and their calves are more sensitive during the first few weeks of calving (Caribou migration). They avoid human disturbance during this time, so drilling becomes an issue. The United States Congress created the Artic National Wildlife Refuge in 1980 (To drill or not to drill?: 6). The Artic National Wildlife Refuge is also known as ANWR (To drill or not to drill?: 6). The Artic National Wildlife Refuge is 19.6 million acres of wilderness (Scalzo, Jim Lo.: 37). Whenever some country drills for oil it is more likely than not for that country to have an oil spill. Oil spills are deadly to animals, hard to clean up, and it takes the land thousands of years to recover. The United States has already had one major oil spill off the coast of Alaska in Prince William Sound. If another large oil spill occurred on the water it would have a substantial effect on whales and other marine wildlife (Experts say Alaska Oil Drilling Hurts Wildlife: 43). There are over 130 bird species that find breeding, nesting, or resting places on the coastal plain (Defenders of Wildlife). All of the oil will be pumped down the Trans–Alaskan Pipeline no matter what. Then it is loaded onto tankers and shipped out of Prince William Sound, but the tankers that the oil is being shipped in are at an enormous risk for having an oil spill. This is because most of the ships that pick up the oil are not doubled hulled. The vast majority of oil shipped from Alaska is carried in aging tankers with higher risk of leaking. Only 3 of 26 have double–hulls and those are more than 20 years old. There are three main oil companies who carry oil out of Alaska; Phillip, BP, and Exxon. OK, maybe not quite Madagascar yet, but cities are getting there. The wildlife that used to live out in the wild are now migrating into urban areas because there are no resources left for them in their original homes. The problem is humans. Humans have taken over the resources, homes, and economies that animals need to survive, so they are forced to come closer and closer to humans. The movement caused by this is creating many problems between humans and the animals that are forced to move. Urban wildlife is beginning to cause damage to the environment and needs to be stopped. The effect that urbanization has on wildlife is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the causes of fear loss is caused by animals being too closely associated with the millions of humans that surround them on a daily basis. The animals are forced to reside in human habitat because they have nowhere else to live. The closeness can cause alterations and "some urban animals trade personal space for the convenience of the city" (Soniak). Species continue to be made to live side by side to humans and breathe the exact same air that they do. They practically share homes with humans now because of the lack of space and the excessive populations of urban wildlife. What used to be considered taboo is presently different because "the relationship between humans and large predators is changing" (Mahoney). Large predators who lose their fears and approach humans in search for food or water are put in danger because humans misunderstand the animals and what they are trying to tell them. They may view a harmless approach for food as a murder spree targeted straight at them. Another problem that follows urbanization is the harmony between humans and animals that has been around for years is now being disturbed. The amount of wildlife deaths in urban cities is rising as more human populations expand and grow. Wildlife Biologists study the physical and behavioral characteristics of wildlife, as well as human actions on animals and their ecosystem. The duties of a wildlife biologist range anywhere from writing a report to collecting data by experimenting and observing. For instance, a wildlife biologist may have to collect data from observing animal reproduction, interaction between species, and movement patterns. Other times, wildlife biologists will spend time indoors writing papers that explain the data they collected, giving presentations, and doing pre–experiment research. Usually a wildlife biologist focuses on a specific type of species, which can include marine mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term "wildlife" refers to birds, whales, gorillas, jaguars, rhinos, sharks, etc.. Like aforesaid, a wildlife biologist typically specializes in one of these animal categories. However, choice may be limited based on location. Coast states such as Florida, Texas, California, Alaska, Hawaii and others tend to offer many jobs in marine biology. Other landlocked states may have jobs that focus on land wildlife. • 31. Proposal About Wildlife Endangerment Dear Carter Roberts, I am writing to you today to express my concerns and to propose a plan regarding the serious issue with wildlife endangerment. More than 100 million animals are killed each year. Some are simply killed by hunters which essentially can be debated but the majority are killed for chemical testing used in biology labs and climate change. We, as a society, need to act to start protecting the wildlife throughout the world. I believe that this is an important issue because by protecting nature's animals, we are enriching the earth. When we take care of wildlife, it helps keep water clean and gives us the ability to drink fresh water. If we can all work together, I think that we can lower the number of wildlife endangerment all together. The first thing I suggest you doing is having more conferences on the endangered species act. This act truly emphasizes on protecting animals and the areas they live in. For example, we should be courteous towards these animals and not disturb the areas they live in. A vast majority of habitats are ruined by humans for humans. I do understand that some areas need to be built to develop a stronger economy, but we also need to think about the animals because we wouldn't be here if they all died. These areas cover a massive amount of land, so it is important to think about what you are building and why you are building it. Next, I think that increasing the funds that every wildlife program has would be a huge benefit for these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Endangered Species Act and The Wildlife Conservation... When a species is endangered, how are they going to be saved? People, from all over the country, work together and perform tasks to help wildlife. Endangered means a species is close to extinction, and it is up to humanity to make the efforts needed to save wildlife from this tragedy. All it takes is a simple gesture in the right direction, like focusing on special rights that protect animals from being nonexistent. Many efforts have been made to protect endangered wildlife, such as, the Endangered Species Act, restoring habitats, and reducing wildlife threats. The purpose of the Endangered Species Act is to help imperiled species and the ecosystems in which they live. It is administered by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Marine Fisheries Service. That means, that the Endangered Species Act has primary responsibility for terrestrial and freshwater organisms, as well as all land animals. This law protects the rights of wildlife, so it assures the protection from poaching, and all forms of hunting. Also, for the purposes of the Act, Congress defined species to include subspecies, and different varieties (Endangered). Benefits of the Endangered Species Act include, the protection of wildlife and critical habitats, as well as other bonuses. It creates jobs for wildlife dependent communities and the communities that support and sponsor the Act, by exposing ecosystems to new natural resources. Another benefit is that it protects ... • 35. Hunting Benefits Wildlife Conservation The United States is home to many different big–game and small–game species of wildlife. The list ranges from the elusive racoon to the prosperous white–tailed deer, and even to the beastly grizzly bear. Since the United States government adopted the concept of conservation, due partly to the great acts of President Theodore Roosevelt, its has been our moral responsibility to protect the game species of America (Belanger). Our country provides a professional and sufficient way to guide conservation and to develop, regulate, and manage the nation's fish and wildlife resources with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and various other conservation groups and organizations. Hunting is the pursuance and killing of wild animals for food, trade, or for sport. Hunting has been in the center of this management movement and in the heart of animal conservation. Hunting contributes greatly to the conservation and management of wildlife populations. The Anti–Hunting community views hunting as a murderous activity that hunters use simply for enjoyment (IDA). They argue that hunting may have been a necessity for the survival of early humans, but now people seek out and take animals entirely for entertainment. They say hunters pass hunting off as a "sport" to cover up the merciless act of pass– time (PETA). Goodall concerns, "Will a nature– loving child born seventy–five years from now long to see a live elephant as I longed to see a woolly mammoth?". However, she also mentioned that "sometimes heroic efforts are being made to save and conserve threatened and endangered species." She ends her introduction by points out the highlight of the stories she is about to recount next. The stories show problems and difficulties people faces as they work on the conservation of wildlife. One of the wildlife animals being discusses is the California condors. Goodall starts the story with a humorous description about the condors; she describes the redness of condors ' bare head and their strong wings. She continued by informs the readers about the decline of California condors and how it raised a controversial between the biologists and the "protectionist" regarding the issue of captive breeding. As the possibility of condors surviving in the wild decreases, the argument finally comes to an end when the "last wild Condors [are] taken into captivity" and "officially extinct in the wild". • 41. Wildlife Protection And Commercial Interests Introduction Throughout history, the battle between conserving the wildlife around us and the need for commercial interests has led to many arguments. Wildlife protection refers to the practice of wild plant and animal species and their habitats. A commercial interest encompasses a company with the purpose of expanding or producing goods or services that are to be consumed by customers. When the road to expansion first started, most people did not worry about cutting down a tree to build a home or railroad. Now, however, the argument over what is moral and what is necessary has led to the question of whether or not a wild animal should be protected or their habitat cut down in order to make more room for housing or oil pipelines or other man–made things. In this paper, I will be presenting alternative positions on the topic of the differing priorities of wildlife protection and commercial interests. Perspective 1: Pro Wildlife Protection A conservationist is someone who advocates or acts for the protection and preservation of the environment and wildlife. This particular group of people would argue that protecting the existing wildlife is more important than other commercial interests. To begin, conservationists would argue that wildlife has already deteriorated so much and so people must conserve natural habitats for future generations of both people and animals to enjoy. (Terris) According to Terris, one victim of sprawl is the Florida panther, which has been reduced to a population of 30 to 50 adults. Furthermore, in the Sonoran Desert many plant species are affected, which also affects the animals that rely on those plants. She goes on to give numerous examples of animals and plants that are being harmed that spreads across the U.S., supporting the fact it is widespread. Yet, Shaw concludes, "wild animals increasingly find suburban life in the United States to be attractive." (Shaw) She explains the suburbs are ideal places for wildlife, citing there are 32 known breeding pairs of bald eagles in Virginia, a species once thought to be on the brink of extinction. She shows the deer population is at an all–time high, with a possible 25 million deer in the United States. Wildlife customarily alludes to undomesticated creature species, yet has come to incorporate all plants, parasites, and different living beings that develop or live wild in a territory without being presented by people. Wildlife could be found in all biological communities. Deserts, woodlands, rain backwoods, fields, meadows, and different zones including the most created urban territories, all have particular types of natural life. The studies – particularly in Kenya and Tanzania look specifically at the Maasai – but more than that – there is a need to juxtapose their story among a larger story of land rights to all groups and the power dynamics and policies that have defined them. For the Maasai, wildlife conservation as well as tourism – and now, industrial agriculture – have threatened their way of living and today there are advocates on the one hand of community development (or poverty reduction) and others in the camp of wildlife conservation with very different suggestions to land use and where policies have been increasingly polarized in either direction. Many consensus approaches have been suggested – including Conservation with development, integrated conservation and development projects, Community based conservation and community based natural resource management – among others. Many of these policies have failed to impress either of these camps – with the battle between conservation and development as contentious as ever. No two sites have the same land characteristic and as a result, groups may bear disproportionally based on their access to immediate resources ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. Hunting : The Benefits Of Wildlife Conservation The Benefits of Hunting Conservation is the protection and preservation of nature (Peterson 53). Hunting is an important part of the conservation of wildlife. Hunting is widely considered a crucial part of wildlife conservation. Hunting benefits wildlife by controlling the population, raising funds for wildlife conservation, and protect wildlife. In America, there are 15 million hunters annually ("Hunting conservation"1). Hunting is a common activity around the world. Hunting is performed for several reasons. Some hunt to provide food, while others hunt for enjoyment. Hunters are among the foremost supporters of wildlife conservation (1). Through many ways they help benefit wildlife. Hunting is used as a management tool around the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hunting is a valuable source of funding for conservation. Hunters pay fees and taxes, which go towards wildlife management programs (Peterson 22–23). According to North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission "hunting related spending supports wildlife agencies through license sales and the excise tax on hunting equipment" ("Benefits" 1). There have been many federal efforts to create funding for conservation from hunting. The Pittman–Robertson act was established to raise funds for conservation by levying taxes and fees (Gooch 2). The Pittman– Robertson act has raised $10.1 billion since it was enacted in 1937 (Guiden 3). This money is used for conservation all over the country. According to The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service "the sale of hunting license, tags, and stamps is the primary source of funding for most state wildlife conservation efforts" ("Fish and Wildlife" 1). State License and fees raise $796 million a year for conservation programs ("25 reasons" 1). For example, "In Michigan, hunters pay for approximately 80 percent of the Department of Natural Resources' wildlife management" ("Hunting and wildlife" 1). These programs have helped preserve the wildlife of the state for future generations. The funding from hunting has been very successful in supporting wildlife management. North America Contained Only 41,000 elk in 1907("25 reasons" 1). Today there are over 1 million elk in North America (1). Lastly, hunting is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. The Effects Of Grazing On Wildlife And Plant Species And... Rangeland is any extensive area of land that is occupied by native herbaceous or shrubby vegetation which is grazed by domestic or wild herbivores. Over the last couple of decades grazing of public rangelands in the United States has become very controversial. Groups opposing has cited degradation of public trust resources and detrimental to wildlife and plant species while advocates believe that grazing is beneficial to the wildlife and plant species and holding up the long tradition of ranching. However, beyond the arguments of both sides is a complex web of scientific information, ecosystem processes, and practical issues related to grazing that must be carefully considered before judging whether grazing is beneficial or detrimental for any given situation. In most cases the question is not black and white, but rather a matter of weighing the expected effects of grazing against the objectives for a particular site. Rangelands occur on all continents, particularly in Africa, Australia and the United States. It presently occupies about 47% of the world's land and contributes significantly to the production of ecosystem goods and services. In Australia alone, almost 81% is classified as rangeland. In the United States 36% is considered rangeland, with 53% located in 19 western states. At present United States rangelands comprise approximately 770 million acres with the private sector owning more than half. Rangelands in the United States are diverse lands from the ... • 67. Implications Of Wildlife In Wildlife Wildlife Introduction Purpose I would like to briefly summarize why wildlife is important and I'm examining this because it's truly important that we as people recognize that wildlife plays a big role in how we live. Problem Nature is losing its wildlife! The loss can be attributed to two main causes. The first cause is human interaction. Humans are having too much interference in nature. According to the World Wide Federation (2017), the forests, swamps, plains, and lakes are being destroyed to make room for roads, pipelines, and industrial development. These areas serve as the natural habitat for our wildlife. Without a home, these animals are dying off at record numbers and becoming extinct. According to Morris (2003), Humans are also killing the animals for food and this choice also destroys the natural habitat. Many humans are making the choice to catch fish faster than the oceans can restock. When people choose to destroy these animal's homes, it has a negative effect on the food chain. When one sees the impact of human interaction on the natural habitat, society must realize that they have a responsibility to do something because our future as a species on this planet is in jeopardy. Procedures/Methodology The raw data that was collected was 20 random people. You can find the collection on the next page. I used the stratified sampling method. The survey question was "Do you think wildlife is important?" and people answered either yes or no. Data and Results ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. “The hunting community ensures that wildlife populations... "The hunting community ensures that wildlife populations of game species are sustainable from one generation to the next" (Gibbons 1). Land can only feed and house so many animals before all life naturally dies off and kills the surrounding area. Once animals are over populated something must be done to restore balance to the ecosystem. Natural selection in the environment is not enough for many animals to keep populations at a manageable rate. This is where hunters come in, hunters help to lower populations in environments to allow other animals and life to thrive in a humane way that costs less than any other method of control. It is common now for ecosystems to become over run with a species of animal that will overtake the area they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each environment can only handle so many animals before the environment crumbles and the over populated animals starve to death and overlap into other animals' food and kill off many other animals. "Wildlife levels have been on the rise and are now at a point of overflowing their carrying capacities" (Emmons 3). So the need for controlling animal populations is growing. Thanks to the increase of population of humans, we are taking more and more land which is making many environments become much smaller or disappear. With the shrinking environments it becomes easier to reach the carrying capacity because the carrying capacity shrinks due to the limited environment they can access. "Hunting is now a necessary mechanism for the population control of many wildlife populations" (Emmons 3). It is safer and easier for people to open hunting in many places then it is for the government to trap and move animals to different locations where they would survive better. Hunting promotes a better ecological balance so that forests and other landscapes can thrive as a whole along with all of the animals that rely on the same land as those that are over populated. Hunters not only help the environment by controlling populations, they work with conservation and ecological groups to build and conserve wildlife and land. Hunters and environmentalists share a common love, that of beautiful forests and landscapes and watching animals even though their intentions are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. The Pros And Cons Of Wildlife Conservancy Introduction According to the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013, "wildlife conservancy" means: Land set aside by an individual, land owners, body corporate, group of owners or community for purpose of wildlife conservation. for Following the enactment of the Act, wildlife conservation is now a recognized form of land use. There are incentives for largescale landowners to convert private ranches to conservancies. Presently, there are between 133–140 conservancies spread across 22 counties covering over 7.5 million acres. In Isiolo county, we have 8 conservancies straddling across the county. In the recent past, there has been an ongoing battle between conservancies and the local communities. Dozens of people have been killed or injured. Research Problem Isiolo already suffers high levels of inter–communal and ethno–political conflict. Conservancies in Isiolo are increasing as each ethnic group calls for its own conservancy. They may fail to benefit and empower pastoralists as much as promised. They may interfere with existing structures for land management. Conservancies have increased land conflicts in certain cases and become linked with ethnic conflicts by delineating boundaries and by arming members of the community as scouts. • 73. Wildlife Conservation in India 1. Meaning Of Wildlife Wildlife includes all non–domesticated plants, animals and other organisms. Domesticating wild plant and animal species for human benefit has occurred many times all over the planet, and has a major impact on the environment, both positive and negative. Wildlife can be found in all ecosystems. Deserts, rain forests, plains, and other areas including the most developed urban sites, all have distinct forms of wildlife. While the term in popular culture usually refers to animals that are untouched by human factors, most scientists agree that wildlife around the world is impacted by human activities. Humans have historically tended to separate civilization from wildlife in a number of ways including the legal, social, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The activities undertaken under the adage of WCS include scientific research, national capacity building, policy interventions, site–based conservation and developing new models of wildlife conservation. The Project Elephant PE in short was launched in February 1992. It is a central sponsored scheme that intended to provide all kinds of support to the elephant bearing states in India, be it financial or technical for protection of elephants and their habitats. Elephants, the gentle giants of the forests are much loved in India and this project was launched when their numbers started decreasing at an alarming rate. The Project Elephant in India also aimed to decrease the human–elephant battles and help in the welfare of domesticated elephants in India. Though project elephant was launched with much enthusiasm years ago, but it has still not led to as much increase in the number of elephants as it was expected. Wildlife conservationists state that the progress has been real slow and people in charge of the project are themselves not very clear of the causes of decline in the number of elephants. Project Elephant tries to ensure a free movement for the elephants and thus conserve large areas for them that are called 'elephant reserve range'. Wildlife Conservation in Sariska Sariska Tiger Reserve was created in 1978. The present area of the Reserve is 866 sq. km. In the pre–independence period, the forests ... • 75. Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge Essay Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge Everyday we put tons of pollution into the air, water and ground. Our population is growing each day and in turn urbanization is expanding. Teddy Roosevelt, being an avid outdoorsmen, knew the importance of setting land aside for posterity sake and in doing do set a trend for later presidents. When Richard Nixon set land aside in Alaska, which became the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), he set it aside to be never tainted by industrialization. Today republicans and some democrats want to repeal the title of National Wildlife Refuge and drill there for oil. This could have adverse effects for wildlife and the Inuit natives that call the ANWR and surrounding area home. In this paper I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An interesting fact about this issue is that 95% of Alaska's North Slope is open for exploration and development leaving the ANWR as the remaining 5%(Sierra Club 1). The ANWR was set aside for a reason, to be protected for later generations, so why drill in the protected site while 95% is open? An article off of sacbee.com talks about the Gwich'in people and their dependency on the ANWR. As well as animals being adversely affected the Gwich'in Inuit natives live there. They depend on the protection of the ANWR because their chief source of food is caribou. They use every part of the caribou for food, clothing, shelter and their cultural focus point. Repealing the status of a National Wildlife Refuge would hurt their way of life that they have preserved over the years. The site is being considered because the people who back this idea don't want the USA being dependent on foreign oil. The fact is it would not make us less dependent on foreign oil, a 6–month supply over 50 years is not going to do that. They are also afraid of Saddam Hussien controlling the oil market, but economists say the world controls the prices. The oil they want to drill would be a very small amount only about 2% of our total reserves. If they started drilling in 2002 we would not see it until 2012, meaning we can not cure any problems that may occur before then. This graph shows the amount of oil the refuge would give us is only a small bump in the road. The estimated amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Dispute Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or ANWR, is a refuge geared toward preserving national wildlife in northeastern Alaska. ANWR is about 19 million acres, in space, and contains a potential drilling spot for oil and petroleum. The potential drilling spot is a small area known as the 10–02 Area. It is only 1.5 million acres, or 8%, of ANWR, would even be considered for development (What is ANWR). The controversy surrounding ANWR is whether to drill or not to drill into the 10–02 area. Some people want to preserve the wilderness and to find more fuel–efficient technologies. Others want to lower gas prices and to create more job opportunities. If the government decides to drill for oil, it could possibly lead to about 17 billion barrels of oil, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drilling in ANWR could greatly benefit the United States. It could boost the economy, decrease foreign oil trade, lower oil prices worldwide and create about 750,000 jobs, throughout the United States. On the other hand it could ruin ecosystems and tamper with wildlife's habitats, for a less than significant amount of oil. Either way a decision has to be made. Prudhoe Bay is steadily declining. The question is whether the government wants to continue paying the high price of foreign imports or drill at ANWR and potentially ruin fragile and ecologically sensitive ecosystems.
