Introduction
National Policy on Education 1986 a centrally
sponsored Scheme for Restructuring and
Reorganaition of teacher Education is being
implemented since October 1987. One of its
components is establishment of District Institute of
EducationandTraining(DIETs)thefirstlotofDIET
ware sanctioned in February-March 1988.In
MaharashtrafirstphaseofupgradationofD.Edinto
DIET was in 1995.and second phase was in 1996-
1997. District Institute of Teacher Education and
Training,Yavatmalisestablishedin1997.ThisDIET
is located in tribal area of vidharbha region of
Maharashtra state. This DIET Library provides
services for these District teachers and In -service
training teacher as District Research Centre.
Statementoftheproblem:
“DIETLibraryResourcesManagementandUsers
need.”ObjectiveoftheStudy:-
1.TostudyInfrastructureofDIETLibrary.2.Tostudy
collection of library. 3. To study use of library
resources. 4. To study users need and their
satisfaction.
1.MethodologyofStudy:
In the present study data is collected by survey
method. The Questionnaire is used for collection of
data from user out of 250 users including teachers,
students 50 samples are selected for data collection.
And by using tools such as Observation, Interview.
Libraryvisit,Libraryrecord.Thequestionerindivided
intotwophaseI.e.libraryservicesanduserneedand
suggestions. The questionnaire is prepared in both
language English and Marathi. Data was collected
thoroughquestionnaireincludingyes/Noanswering
twopointscaleopinionandthreepointscaleopinions
are used in questioner
1.2.LimitationoftheStudy:
The present study is limited to only District Institute
of Education and Training Library,Yavatmal only.
2.1Infrastructureof DIET,Yavatmal
CentralGovernment.SponsoredSchemeofTeacher
Education.Intheyear 1997 Government.D.EdCollege
is upgraded as a District Institute of Education and
Training.DistrictInstituteofEducationandTraining
issituatedinYavatmalcity.ItisDistrictplaceoftribal
are of vidharbha region of Maharahstra state. This
DIET has special batch of 60 tribal students .District
Institute of Education and Training, Yavatmal has
own old building.
2.2InfrastructureofDIET,Library
DistrictInstituteofEducationandTraining,Library,
has 750 sq f. Area .including reference section,
circulation section, periodical section, newspaper
section, Librarians cabin.etc.

hasfulltimequalifiedLibrarian.

resources, to study users satisfaction of library service and facilities. This paper will be helpful for

DIET Library in last five years is as follows ( March
2005 to March 2010)( Amount in Rupees)Form the
above table it is found that the maximum amount of
money spent on collection development in the year
2009-2010
observed that the frequency of daily user is less.

The above table shows that 58% user get sufficient
reading materials form library abut 42% user are not
getsufficientmaterialsfromlibrary.

use of text books (64%) and use of reference book is
16% periodicals /Journals 12% and use of non book
materials is only 6% and action research use 2% are
very less. It is found that maximum users user only
text books and less use of reference books and
journals.
Table.4 Form the above table it is found that 32%
users are fully satisfied and 42% user is partially
satisfied and 26% users are not satisfied with library
serviceandfacility.Thereisneedtoincreaseslibrary
services and facilities
Conclusion:
It is concluded that District Institute of Education
and TrainingYavatmal Library is rich collection but
there is need to add some reference books .It is one
ofthegoodresourcecentreforprimaryandsecondary
teacher for the district.. Collection development in
last five year is good. But library budget for last five
year is very less. Collection of news paper is very
goodanduseraresatisfiedwithnewspapercollection
The frequency of daily visitor is very less there is
need to aware about library and most of user is not
fullysatisfiedwithlibraryservicesandfacilities,Most
of the users use only use text book but not use
reference book and periodicals. There is need to
organize Information literacy programme for
awareness of library collection and library services.
Suggestions
1-To create awareness about the importance of
reference books and periodicals to user. 2-To
computerization of library for better utilization of
library resource. 3-To increase library grants for
collection development & services, facilities. 4-
Provideseparatereadingroomforstudents.5-Latest
books and journals/periodicals should be procured
andinformationofnewarrivalbecirculated.6-Provide
supporting staff to DIET library.7-To use of
information communication technology (ICT) in
library.8-Toorganizeinformationliteracyprogramme..
