1. Pressure put on Children in Order to do well in their Studies
Could our future leader’s freedom and precious time at this very
moment be robbed by – as contradicting as it sounds, filling them up with too
many activities or things required for them to do on a daily basis in order to
excel in their studies? In some countries, the problem we’re facing right now is
pressure from parents and teachers, the educational system as well as the
child’s own disability to divide their time properly.
Firstly, pressure from parents and teachers. We are aware that the
child or children of every parent are their pride and joy. But unfortunately,
parents abuse that pride and that joy by implementing too much of stress to
their children in order to achieve a certain goal. In some countries, students
are being driven in full speed to achieve their parents’ and teachers’or even
the society’s dreams of becoming a trophy child with sadly no benefit for the
child in terms of freedom. The poor child would dwell in depression and
anxiety as they wouldn’t have a social life or even time for themselves, to
pamper themselves with the simplest things that the world has to offer as all
the time is taken up in order to excel in their academics.
Well, it is without a doubt, very important for children to obey their
parents as they have done so much for their children. But at the same time,
parents should be more understanding towards what their children are going
through on a daily basis.
2. A huge role for this problem that we are facing is caused by the
educational system. For example, the educational system at certain countries
are too exam orientated to the extent where the only reason for an “education”
is to achieve a row of printed A plusses on a piece of a paper. But what is the
point of that if that is the only thing the student would achieve in life? Isn’t life
more than that? It’s sad to say that the children would be deprived from the
ability and the allowance to think out of the box, to explore, to make mistakes
in life in order to learn from them. They are and will be deprived from life
lessons which are essential for everyone. They would be living in a monotone
state and would be deafen out by beautiful tunes. In the long run, what would
your straight A plusses get you if you’re not living?
Other than that, in terms of education, there are some teachers who
are not open to suggestions or ideas from children and would reject them in a
harsh manner, or let alone, just reject them instead of compromising with
them.
Apart from pressure given by parents and the stress given by the
educational system, the children themselves play a huge role in this problem.
Some children have their finger in every pie and therefore, over estimate their
capabilities and abilities to handle their activities. To add fuel to the fire, they
are unable to divide and organize as well as prioritize their time. This would
lead to stress brought by the lack to time organization.
3. Yes, it is indeed good to set high goals for yourselves, but it is also
very important for the children to know their limit and their pressure point.
Adding on too much of stress to oneself could lead to more cons than pros.
For example, if one is being too involved in clubs and societies, they would
neglect their studies and hence, get stressed up with exam preparations in the
future.
In conclusion, to avoid this problem that many children are facing
around the world, parents, teachers, as well as the students should
understand their (the children’s) ability and pressure point. Goals and targets
set should be reasonable and also parallel to the children’s capability. It is
indeed very important to understand what the stress the children is going
through and be there for them to confide in.
