Attitude, we all have an attitude as we are all human. It personally was
an interesting topic to learn and understand during this class. I enjoyed
learning about different dimensions of attitudes both negative and
positive evaltuations of things.
I‟ve learnt that there are three components of attitude, divided to
cognitive, affective and behavioral. Affective – person‟s feelings and
emotions. Behavioral/Conative – the way the attitude we have influence
on how we behav and Component – deals with the way the attitude we
have influence on how we behave. They are all interconnected.
Cognitive – deals with the involvement of a person‟s belief and
knowledge about and object.
Personally, I‟ve learnt or had a deeper understanding towards attitude
and why we have them and how they function in our daily lives. How it
processes and how it works.

3. Conformity. Why do we always follow suit? It is because of
conforminty. The majority always win the vote in things and influence us to
what we do sub consciously.
Conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to group
norms. Norms are implicit, unsaid rules, shared by a group of individuals, that
guide their interactions with others, among society or social in
groups. Conformity can also be simply defined as “yielding to group
pressures” (Crutchfield, 1955).
It is also somewhat known as group pressure and may take in different
forms from bullying to a certain style or trend (fashion). The term
conformity is often used to indicate an agreement to the majority
position, brought about either by a desire to „fit in‟ or be liked
(normative) or because of a desire to be correct (informational), or
simply to conform to a social role (identification).
We also learned about obedience and authority. In 1960‟s social
psychologist Stanley Milgram did a famous research study called the
obedience study. It showed that people have strong tendancy to comply
with authoritative figures.

4. “What increases liking” This topic was interesting to me (as I really do
like things like these.) and it was interesting to know that some things
are really relevant and true. The three broad categoeis that this fall into
are proximity, familirarity and similarity.
I used to wonder why couples look alike, now I do know that people are
attracted to other people who are some what similar in terms of interest
and in terms of physical appearances as well.
People we see are frequently more familiar through exposure and also
more vulnerable when they open up to another person.
