2. What is ABC Analysis?
ABC analysis is a form of Pareto analysis where a range of items have different levels
of significance and should be handled or controlled differently. The items
(eg. activities, customers, documents, inventory items, sales territories) are grouped
into three categories (A, B and C) in order of their estimated importance:
A – items that are very important
B – items that are important
C – items that are marginally important
3. ABC Analysis with Jet Essentials
Jet Essentials is a powerful solution compatible with many popular data sources. It
allows to easily generate pre-designed and custom reports with an easy to use Excel
plug-in.
The short guide below outlines the procedure of creating ABC Analysis with Jet
Essentials.
4. Step 1: load your data
First we must connect our database and select right fields (columns) to analysis.
From the table we need to choose: item name, unit price and units on stock. We
can use the Browser or Report Wizard from Jet Ribbon to load this data.
Load your data from source
5. Step 2: create your report
After loading the necessary data you will create the ABC Analysis by clicking the ”Report”
button.
7. Step 3: enjoy the data
On the ”Chart” sheet we can see a line chart and a pivot table, where we can
see which item does belong to each class (A,B, or C). The highly valuable items are
classified as ”A” inventory items.
8. Step 3: enjoy the data
In the „Item Catalog” sheet we see our whole inventory with class division. Every
item has a column with unit price, units on stock, total sales and rank (item with
rank „1” is the most valuable item in our inventory). Use slicers to choose rank.
