Alliteration - When the beginning sounds of words are
repeated in a line of poetry or a sentence
4. Imagery
Used to describe things, events, or ideas using words
related to our five senses (hearing, seeing tasting,
smelling, touching)
5. Metaphor
Comparing two unlike things without using a
connecting word such as "like" or "as"
6. Mood
The feelings that the reader has in response to the
writing. Mood can be established through setting and
diction
7. Point of View
The perspective from which a story is told.
Perspective is another word for viewpoint.
What’s the difference between these?
-First Person (I, me, we, our, my)
-Second Person (you)
- Third Person (he, she, it, they)
8. Symbols & Symbolism
Something, usually a physical object, that represents
something else, such as an idea or quality
Using symbols is symbolism!
